Munal Tandoori Indian Restaurant in Antrim

My husband and I had a great meal here last night. Really tasty food, friendly service and just a nice feel to the place. We order takeaway regularly but this was our first time eating in and we really enjoyed it.

Once again we enjoyed an excellent meal in Munal. Service is first class and the quality of the food is amazing. We were really well looked after by great staff - can highly recommend this restaurant.

We were in a Motorhome trip staying at 6 mile water site in Antrim for a night. We had choices as to where we would have our 45th Anniversary dinner and as we both love Indian and the reviews were so good we thought we would try here. It was Sunday night 7pm. When we arrived we were the only table booked and we thought that wasn’t good. How wrong were we! It is a family run establishment and we were treated so well by the staff. We have our favourite Indian in our home town but we have to admit this was the best Indian meal we have had in a while. A memorable Anniversary meal and the whole place to ourselves. Antrim people you are fortunate to have this place on your doorstep. We will definitely be back and have no hesitation in recommending to all.

The food is good in an old-fashioned kind of way; however, I was disappointed when I checked my bill later to find that it had been inflated: the dish prices online and on the menu did not match the prices on my bill. Rather a shame as there is no need to do that.

I recently ordered from Munal Tandoori Restaurant in Antrim, and it was quite a disappointing experience. I chose the chicken biryani, expecting a flavorful and authentic dish, but what I received was far from it. The biryani lacked any real taste, with no authentic flavor or masala to speak of. The chicken was not properly cooked, making the dish almost inedible. It felt like we were served plain rice with barely any effort put into it. This restaurant clearly fooled us with their subpar food. Given this experience, I find their 4.3 rating absolutely fake and misleading. I would not recommend ordering from this place if you're looking for genuine and tasty Indian cuisine.

Good food and great service. If you are Indian, mild and medium are not for you. Go for spicy.

Have eaten here a few times, both takeaway and sit in and it never disappoints. I enjoyed a meal here with my wife last night. The service was excellent and quick. The food was tasty with generous portions sizes and the bill was very reasonable. All in all, I highly recommend.

First time trying this Indian and it won’t be the last!

Beautiful restaurant. Service was fantastic and super prompt. Highly recommend the chicken vindaloo if you like a good amount of spice. This place is a gem!

Food is nice. The Major downfall is that the food always arrives cold. Thankfully I have an air fryer and microwave to heat it back up. But it’s the fact that the price I pay for this is ridiculous. For one meal could be around £18 and then your £3 delivery charge. Times are hard and it should not be hard to receive hot food. This would have been a 4star if the food was warm.

leftover food! It's as if the chef didn't have enough sauce and watered it down. the meat was definitely not fresh. the naan bread stone cold and doughy. No attempt to hide the food isn't fresh. When you pay a premium for Indian cuisine you expect much better.

Absolutely terrible. Spent over £60 through Uber Eats on a takeaway. Ordered 3 different dishes, they were all the same colour and tasted exactly the same, which was bland and inedible. Waiting time was a joke and will never be back near the place.

The patia and dopaza curries were delicious, would definitely come back again!

Delicious food as always, but there were quite a lot of green chillies in the special balti, which made it hotter than normal, and hard for some to eat.

The food was so so good! Some other Indians are just spice overload but ours was so flavourful and delicious! Plenty for the price and we have some left over for lunch tomorrow. Totally delighted and we have a new favourite Indian ❤️ thanks guys!!

Please do not buy from this place. We were served chicken tikka masala and Chicken Punjabi masala this evening. Both tasted the same with same sauce. When we called the Munal Tandoori Restaurant back, they said the only difference is that Chicken Punjabi masala has onion and capcicum. This is actually making the locals look like fools to buy the same dishes that sounds different. If you say you cook Indian food then know the difference and stop fooling local customers as if they do not know the difference. Never had a punjabi masala that was a tikka masala. Absolutely ridiculous!

This was a takeaway - I ordered the Tandoori Mix as my starter which should have consisted of Chicken (Tandoori and Tikka), Lamb Tikka and a Seekh Kebab. I opened up my carton and there was 3 pieces of un recognisable meats that did not taste of anything authentic at all and some cooked onions on top which was also bland. It was quite bland, very disappointed. I also ordered the Lamb Kalimirch which should have been slow cooked tender Lamb cooked with black pepper, onion and tomato with coconut milk. There must have been 6 pieces of lamb in a lot of sauce (not tender) and not a lot of flavour again was very disappointed. I thought I would order the Keema Naan, there was no keema in that naan, so disappointed. The food may be better if you eat in but as a take away, was very, very disappointed. I don't have takeaways that often and thought I would treat myself!!

I regularly sit in Munal restaurant and until tonight the service has been fantastic with no complaints. Unfortunately tonight's telephone service was EXTREMELY disappointing. I was told the initial telephone order would take 60 minutes however didn't arrive until two hours later and to make matters worse a lamb jalfresi was sent instead of a lamb dansak. I contacted Munal and was assured the lamb dansak would be replaced within 15minutes however approx 45 minutes later they sent a chicken dansak! Disappointing service all round.

2nd time ordered in a few weeks and delivery has been over an hour late both times and food stone cold when it has arrived. Plus asked to give an additional £2.50 to the driver today on top of my already paid for delivery charge. Won’t be ordering again!

Food was ok, ordered at 1600 for a 1730 delivery, food arrived at 1925. After 4 phone calls and being told 10 more minutes, each time. I could have walked there and collected it 4 times in that time. If you can’t meet the order times then don’t accept the order.

For a business that was so busy (on new years day) the quality was superb!!!

Ordered our food and was then called to be told we needed to pay extra for delivery to Randalstown. Told the shop keeper we would be happy to pay it however it should be updated on justeat that addresses further away pay extra

Splendid Indian cuisine. Very tasty and authentic. Service super professional and the price level very acceptable. Clearly a place in central Antrim to recommend.

Owner of the restaurant is so nice. Absolutely beautiful food. Customer service was fantastic. Very friendly welcome which was really nice. Will definitely be back for another meal soon.

Myself and my partner ordered food at half 4 and the time is currently 6:05pm still no food, my partner called to see what was going on and the women on the phone hung up on him, extremely rude, would not recommend this place at all

Food was cold, some of order missing, driver couldn’t locate house, had to walk to meet driver. Restaurant unable to provide replacement for missing food.

Delivery driver couldn't find my house, i kept trying to direct he couldn't understand me. So i told him to stay were he was and i would drivet to him ( even though i ordered delivery so i didnt have to leave the house) he agreed yhen when i went looking him i get a notification on my doorbell that he was at my house.

Driver got lost and made no attempt to make contact, returned to restaurant and had another driver attempt to deliver the food, at which point their car broke down—not their fault—forcing the restaurant to remake the food and the restaurant manager to deliver it himself.

30 mins late. Chips not cooked properly, everything was salty to the extreme poppadoms were smashed to bits and the curry was 100% not a patia. Takeaways are treats that was not a treat🤢

I have ordered twice from here in the past 6 months and I will never be back , first time extremely bland second meal killed with salt it was inedible. Waste of money very disappointing

Food is very tasty and great to see gluten free options clearly advertised! Unfortunately, it took over 30 minutes between "on its way" to being delivered, despite being a 10-15 min drive away. Food was cold by time of arrival and required reheating by customers

Worst chilli chicken masala ever! Way too salty and no vegetables whatsoever. Poor!

Have eaten from here since they first opened & have always recommended to other people as the food is really good, however on the last at least 5 occasions the order has been wrong, wrong naan bread, wrong rice, forgotten naan bread twice, given lamb instead of chicken, sadly now going to go elsewhere as just not worth it, such a shame

Back in the UK for the first time in 13 years, and had a hankering for curry. Was delicious!

Used Munal loads of times. But it seemed odd the food arrived within 20 mins of my order and on a Sat night too. It would appear that the food was not cooked fresh to order as all the containers had pre printed labels as if it had all been pre-prepared a while ago. The rice was congealed as if it was cooked and reheated. Disappointed.

Excellent Tandoori restaurant. Food is top notch. Can't understand why the place isn't packed every night. Definitely a favourite of ours. Good value too.

First time here for a carry out, fast service only two people in eating. Food was as most people are saying very bland, I had a curry 🍛 and you couldn't taste any spices. The chicken in the curry was tasty enough but no flavour from the nann bread. Wasn't very impressed 😕.

Nice when sitting in but takeaway is dreadful for some reason,chicken so over cooked its inedible always forgetting part of order and tbh at the price you pay for it shouldn't really happen. I've a feeling the chicken tikka is frozen then thawed and added to curry's making it like rubber and overcooked

Food was delicious first time trying and really enjoyed

I ordered a medium nagpuri, however what was delivered was a long, long way from medium. So hot, I couldn't eat it. I don't like to be negative, as I eat from Munal regularly and it's always great, but this time was a real disappointment.

I have been to quite a few Indian restaurants but this is by far the best.Great food,friendly staff,great atmosphere and best of all great prices.highly recommended.

We were staying near the airport for business and thought would have dinner in Antrim. This place was a great find. Very tasty food and excellent friendly service. Highly recommended.

Food was lovely as always, but I was called after ordering to ask for another £2.50 for delivery, to be paid in cash to the driver. I don’t mind paying it, but I’d prefer to know when I’m placing the order as I don’t always have cash in the house when I order on Just Eat.

Went in for a takeaway.....the lady didn't get the order right so check what they've given you before you leave. However the chicken dansak and butter chicken was beautiful!!

We took a couple of friends to this understated curry house in Antrim town and were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and welcoming and it wasn't too busy or loud inside. The real stand-out feature of this establishment, as it should be in a restaurant, was the food: every dish our party ordered was devoured quickly and completely. The food was also served quite quickly after ordering. If I had to be really picky, the only criticism I could level was that the King Prawn Puri was a little bland. Even mentioning that feels a little harsh as overall, it was a five-star culinary experience!

No chicken in the dishes, anaemic chips, poppadom smashed into tiny bits, arrived late and cold. When I rang to tell them I got accused of taking advantage and wanted to come to my house to check how much sauce was left in the tubs. Not good. Won't be back.

Received text to say "on way" at 17:42... arrived at 18:26 - COLD (restaurant is local). When I called - immediately told "on way" before I had given address! I appreciate some nights are busy, but since I pay extra for delivery - my order should not be put in the driver's car with multiple orders - delivering all over the town, taking that amount of time to get to me. Give me a later time if need be! So disappointing :(

We usually like Munal as a treat, but tonight the sauces were very very watery and overpowering. Way spicier than what we would usually have. We also got a mixed vegetable starter and there wasn't very much of a selection. The naan bread was also very cold on arrival. So we were disappointed this evening.

Ordered food for 7pm arrived 8.10 pm

As a regular customer that orders almost every week I am really not happy. Food was 30mins late, food was freeezing. I got half a bag of chips in a lunch bag !!

Absolutely disgusted that my order was half missing & when I phoned to query it i was told that they are not responsible for anything missing complete denial that they made the mistake(but yet who cooked & packed it!!!) & refused to deliver the rest of my takeaway because I ordered through uber eats but yet it would've been ok to come down & pick it up myself SERIOUSLY I paid for delivery...First time using this place wouldn't call it a restaurant if this is there attitude towards customers satisfaction & will be the last.

We often get a delivery from Munal. Meal is always delivered promptly and politely. We also go into the restaurant now and again. The food is always very tasty and the service very good. The only negative comment I would make is about the background music. It's very repetitive and a tad irritating!

The app alerted me at 635pm that driver had left with my food and it arrived at 725pm. The food was absolutely freezing.

First time trying and the meal was beautiful will definitely be trying other dishes, only down side was notification to say on its way and was 25mins later would only be 10mins drive even with traffic

We ordered two meals and a few sides on Saturday evening. The delivery arrived at 6.45, with three of the items missing. We phoned the restaurant straight away (6.50) and were told the missing items would be with us in ten minutes. 40 minutes later at 7.30 we phoned the restaurant again only to be told the same thing, we rang again at 7.45 and after being fobbed off with more excuses my partner went down to the restaurant at 8.10 to see what was happening. While he was gone the missing items were delivered at 8.15, an hour and a half after the first delivery! We live 3 minutes away from the restaurant so I do not understand what the hold up was here! When the food arrived it was average at best! The restaurant didn’t offer to refund us for the inconvenience and we had to end up contacting Just Eat who refunded us for the three items that ended up being an hour and a half late. We will not be using Munal Tandoori again. Absolute disgrace!
