Munal Tandoori Indian Restaurant in Antrim

Food is nice. The Major downfall is that the food always arrives cold. Thankfully I have an air fryer and microwave to heat it back up. But it’s the fact that the price I pay for this is ridiculous. For one meal could be around £18 and then your £3 delivery charge. Times are hard and it should not be hard to receive hot food. This would have been a 4star if the food was warm.

The menu offered a diverse selection of Indian delicacies, each dish meticulously prepared with authentic ingredients and bursting with flavour. Munal uses only the freshest ingredients and spices, that makes each dish absolutely delicious. One dish that truly stood out was the lamb, tender meat, aromatic spices, and fluffy rice that left us wanting more. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur of Indian cuisine or someone looking to embark on a culinary adventure, Munal is a must-visit destination.

Absolutely terrible. Spent over £60 through Uber Eats on a takeaway. Ordered 3 different dishes, they were all the same colour and tasted exactly the same, which was bland and inedible. Waiting time was a joke and will never be back near the place.

Please do not buy from this place. We were served chicken tikka masala and Chicken Punjabi masala this evening. Both tasted the same with same sauce. When we called the Munal Tandoori Restaurant back, they said the only difference is that Chicken Punjabi masala has onion and capcicum. This is actually making the locals look like fools to buy the same dishes that sounds different. If you say you cook Indian food then know the difference and stop fooling local customers as if they do not know the difference. Never had a punjabi masala that was a tikka masala. Absolutely ridiculous!

This was a takeaway - I ordered the Tandoori Mix as my starter which should have consisted of Chicken (Tandoori and Tikka), Lamb Tikka and a Seekh Kebab. I opened up my carton and there was 3 pieces of un recognisable meats that did not taste of anything authentic at all and some cooked onions on top which was also bland. It was quite bland, very disappointed. I also ordered the Lamb Kalimirch which should have been slow cooked tender Lamb cooked with black pepper, onion and tomato with coconut milk. There must have been 6 pieces of lamb in a lot of sauce (not tender) and not a lot of flavour again was very disappointed. I thought I would order the Keema Naan, there was no keema in that naan, so disappointed. The food may be better if you eat in but as a take away, was very, very disappointed. I don't have takeaways that often and thought I would treat myself!!

I regularly sit in Munal restaurant and until tonight the service has been fantastic with no complaints. Unfortunately tonight's telephone service was EXTREMELY disappointing. I was told the initial telephone order would take 60 minutes however didn't arrive until two hours later and to make matters worse a lamb jalfresi was sent instead of a lamb dansak. I contacted Munal and was assured the lamb dansak would be replaced within 15minutes however approx 45 minutes later they sent a chicken dansak! Disappointing service all round.

Splendid Indian cuisine. Very tasty and authentic. Service super professional and the price level very acceptable. Clearly a place in central Antrim to recommend.

Owner of the restaurant is so nice. Absolutely beautiful food. Customer service was fantastic. Very friendly welcome which was really nice. Will definitely be back for another meal soon.

Myself and my partner ordered food at half 4 and the time is currently 6:05pm still no food, my partner called to see what was going on and the women on the phone hung up on him, extremely rude, would not recommend this place at all

I have ordered twice from here in the past 6 months and I will never be back , first time extremely bland second meal killed with salt it was inedible. Waste of money very disappointing

Have eaten from here since they first opened & have always recommended to other people as the food is really good, however on the last at least 5 occasions the order has been wrong, wrong naan bread, wrong rice, forgotten naan bread twice, given lamb instead of chicken, sadly now going to go elsewhere as just not worth it, such a shame

Back in the UK for the first time in 13 years, and had a hankering for curry. Was delicious!

Excellent Tandoori restaurant. Food is top notch. Can't understand why the place isn't packed every night. Definitely a favourite of ours. Good value too.

First time here for a carry out, fast service only two people in eating. Food was as most people are saying very bland, I had a curry 🍛 and you couldn't taste any spices. The chicken in the curry was tasty enough but no flavour from the nann bread. Wasn't very impressed 😕.

Nice when sitting in but takeaway is dreadful for some reason,chicken so over cooked its inedible always forgetting part of order and tbh at the price you pay for it shouldn't really happen. I've a feeling the chicken tikka is frozen then thawed and added to curry's making it like rubber and overcooked

We were staying near the airport for business and thought would have dinner in Antrim. This place was a great find. Very tasty food and excellent friendly service. Highly recommended.

Went in for a takeaway.....the lady didn't get the order right so check what they've given you before you leave. However the chicken dansak and butter chicken was beautiful!!

We took a couple of friends to this understated curry house in Antrim town and were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and welcoming and it wasn't too busy or loud inside. The real stand-out feature of this establishment, as it should be in a restaurant, was the food: every dish our party ordered was devoured quickly and completely. The food was also served quite quickly after ordering. If I had to be really picky, the only criticism I could level was that the King Prawn Puri was a little bland. Even mentioning that feels a little harsh as overall, it was a five-star culinary experience!

Absolutely disgusted that my order was half missing & when I phoned to query it i was told that they are not responsible for anything missing complete denial that they made the mistake(but yet who cooked & packed it!!!) & refused to deliver the rest of my takeaway because I ordered through uber eats but yet it would've been ok to come down & pick it up myself SERIOUSLY I paid for delivery...First time using this place wouldn't call it a restaurant if this is there attitude towards customers satisfaction & will be the last.

We often get a delivery from Munal. Meal is always delivered promptly and politely. We also go into the restaurant now and again. The food is always very tasty and the service very good. The only negative comment I would make is about the background music. It's very repetitive and a tad irritating!

We ordered two meals and a few sides on Saturday evening. The delivery arrived at 6.45, with three of the items missing. We phoned the restaurant straight away (6.50) and were told the missing items would be with us in ten minutes. 40 minutes later at 7.30 we phoned the restaurant again only to be told the same thing, we rang again at 7.45 and after being fobbed off with more excuses my partner went down to the restaurant at 8.10 to see what was happening. While he was gone the missing items were delivered at 8.15, an hour and a half after the first delivery! We live 3 minutes away from the restaurant so I do not understand what the hold up was here! When the food arrived it was average at best! The restaurant didn’t offer to refund us for the inconvenience and we had to end up contacting Just Eat who refunded us for the three items that ended up being an hour and a half late. We will not be using Munal Tandoori again. Absolute disgrace!

The food is delicious and the service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is clean and well-decorated. A great little gem in Antrim that I'd recommend to anybody.

Very disappointed on quality of food really no taste. Sauce very watery. Put most in the bin really disappointment. And wasn’t cheap won’t be back sorry had to say how I felt.

We booked last Saturday 22 October 2022. The food was beautiful and in my opinion authentic home made food. I agree not too many in actual restaurant - lots of carry outs but that did not bother me or my partner. We will ne back... promise yum!!!

We've have eaten from there many time over the past few years and never written a review so this is really overdue! In or out, this is our favourite Indian. The food is delicious, never been disappointed and the staff are always very friendly. I would really recommend.

So we arrived and we were the only people in the restaurant, not the best sign. We were sat in the window which wasn’t ideal but okay. I had come for a beer and a catch up with and old friend but that wasn’t what we were able to do. We ordered food pretty quick but there was a gentleman who may have been the owner I’m not sure who just lingered around and was trying to make small talk. We tried to order more things so he would leave us in peace but he kept returning. The curry was okay but whoever that guy was made us feel very uncomfortable and I won’t be going back unless it’s for take away.

Got a large family carry out food was a mix of dishes including kids meals good selection of dips and popadoms supplied really tasty nans and rice and great tasty mains every one really enjoyed lots of food for every one

Took my parents here for a meal. It was their first experience in an Indian restaurant. The waitress helped them choose two dishes which would suit their spice preferences and was very patient while they decided. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the lamb Rogan Josh was declared the favourite of the night but the chicken Bhuna was also good. Paneer butter masala made for a lovely vegetarian dish. Little extras such as a chocolate mint with our coffee after dinner and a breath mint with the bill add the finishing touches to a lovely experience. The poppadom chutneys are also highly commended. Restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Diners are spaced out in the restaurant which is both good for covid reasons and freely conversing. I will be returning regularly.

Didn't know this place was in Antrim so decided it was worth a try. Indian food is my favourite so I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants in my time and this one hits the spot. Can't believe it wasn't busier but they do more trade in the carry outs. Starter and mains all excellent. Staff very friendly and professionally served to the table by the chef himself. I'll be back for sure as I believe they are one of the best food spot's in the area.

Not feeling the best I ordered a takeaway to cheer myself up. Delivery was on time however the chicken nagnag was horrible. Full of salt and luke warm. The nan was slightly burnt and hard and the onion bhajee was OK. Have you changed your chef? Normally is lovely curry. Very disappointed so much so it went in the bin

Very poor food and service. Manager doesn’t take ownership of issues and leaves staff to it, when asked to speak to the manager they wouldn’t. There are other better restaurants, especially Indiana cuisine in the town of Antrim. Spend your money elsewhere for a much better experience and better food. Also restaurant is always empty and very cold, like they cant afford to put the heating on!! Does not make for very comfortable surroundings. We wont ever be back.

Although I'm not a fan of Indian cuisine, I liked the food. I would visit again. The service was up to standard, the waiter was very attentive and kind.

Amazing Indian. We've had the the chicken tikka starter, lamb Madras, pilau rice, Sagalou, Peshwari naan, pompadom comes free. The lamb melts in the mouth and every bight of every dish is delicious. Had the same thing three times now. Looking forward to the restaurant experience soon. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Indian, hidden gem in Antrim still trying to prove itself as a number 1 eating place. Food is excellent with that home cooked feel. seems to have individual gravies/curries that are distinctively different to each other which is a huge plus compared to a lot of Indian restaurants that seem to use 1 or 2 base stocks and add the rest to their gravies to get their flavours. good cooking with plenty of choice for families and attentive service. carry out is also good and is always ready when you are told.

I called in after work literally as they were closing, they still looked after us and let us order, not only that the food was to die for! 100% we have found our new local eat out very very impressed by standards of food cleanliness and impressive service.

We are regular customers of the Munal both for sit-in meals and takeaway. Staff are very friendly and helpful as befits a family run restaurant. Waiter has provided advice on dishes based on our particular preferences for heat, sweet/savoury balance and we have never been disappointed. Dishes are really fresh and delicious, and Naan is really good. Takeaway seems to do better than sit-in which is a disappointment as the relaxed vibe, great service and food make it a very pleasant experience. Early bird selection (midweek) is also very good.

Staff friendly and helpful. Menu is wide and varied but they will, nevertheless, prepare dishes not listed. In my opinion this is the best Indian food in NI. Previous reviewer (Melissa) commented on the lack of sit-in customers - I agree, this restaurant deserves more custom. But there is an early-bird menu mid-week with a really good selection of dishes at a good price. I would encourage takeaway customers to give the restaurant a try.

Food is very good but place lacks atmosphere only one other table in on a Friday night! They seem busy with takeaways but need to get people in through the door as lovely place just a pity it is empty. Maybe a special offer or early bird menu would help.

I think this might be the best Indian food I've had since moving back to Northern Ireland in 2002. Generous portions, reasonably priced, great service. I would highly recommend a visit to Munal if you're a fan of Indian food.

Brilliant Indian food_ wouldn't go anywhere else definitely the best Indian in Antrim. Very fast and excellent customer service. Great selection of dishes and vegan options too. Can't fault them.

Closest thing to a real Indian restaurant

We have eaten out of Munal several times and the food has always been delicious. Tasted fresh and not greasy. The naan is great too! Will definitely go back!

Friendly service of Hymalain style curries with enough variety of dishes to please. I would have liked to have freshly made on premises samosas as a starter but it was revealed they use frozen. *returned here recently and the service was very slow. It was apparent the kitchen was serving the take out menu faster than table service. Staffing is low and poorly trained.

Try the Lamb Rogan Josh, definitely the best I have tasted.

I've used this restaurant several times recently. The food has been good each time although the heat rating has been mixed; Jalfezi mild one week, spicy next. Service has been slow each time, especially last visit, 25 minutes to get a drink order, 75 minutes...

I lived in Midlands just outside Birmingham for 25 years and tried and tasted a lot of baltis. Had a chicken balti from here tonight and probably the worst I've had, no taste and looked like a stew.
