Zafran Indian Restaurant in Neath Port Talbot

Went here for my birthday meal, food was amazing best indian we have all had in a very long time. Service was a little average but they did give the a birthday gift which was lovely.

2 hours waiting for main course, in which several other customers arrived, ordered, ate and left. When food finally arrived it looked rushed and slopped in the bowl, small measures and was bland and tasteless, keema naan wasn't fully cooked. On the plus side, there was plenty of entertainment from other customers kicking off through long waits for food and missed orders. Never again !!!

My favourite Indian restaurant/take away. Have used this restaurant for many years and regularly go for the buffet on a Sunday. Just love being able to have a little of each from a wide variety of options. Yum yum

Food was good value and generally fine, other than one main course which was not what was ordered, but we definitely won’t be returning until the Food Hygiene Rating improves as it’s currently a 1 - “Major improvement necessary”.

Unusually I didn't do any research before dining, I had ordered before looking! A mixed bag of reviews on here, recent reviews not great and the scores on the doors result .... To keep this short I had a phenomenal meal, with great service I would not hesitate to recommend this Indian restaurant, not just the usual Indian fayre but some dishes I've not encountered before. Worth trying like he'll to find somewhere to park.

Sorry, but this place is not what it once was. Table for 3, all plates chipped and dirty, food from buffet was luke warm and food dripped all over the containers. Drinks flat and stale and decor in serious need of a makeover. Won't be going back. Staff are good though, very pleasant and helpful.

Table of 4. Starters were great. Main meal, chicken on my dish so over cooked it wasn't edible, a lot of food was left. Drinks, flat coke, from a bottle I assume. Service good. Big built guy with long hair who works there sat right behind our table and had a very loud conversation on the phone, almost shouting for about 10 mins. He then did the same thing from the bar on the phone. Poor customer awareness. We have been coming for years but this last visit made us realise it's time to find some place else. Upon fb review they proceeded to lie about the times of the calls making out the restaurant was closed at the time.

Great restaurant, friendly staff and good vegan options, we will definitely be returning when we are back in the area :)

Very disappointing and totally inedible meals! Poor quality meat.....extremely fatty lamb (if it was lamb, and that is questionable) in the Lamb Bhuna, and when mentioned to the waiter, we were told that the chef liked to use fatty lamb in his curry dishes! 🙈 A total waste of £42 and both meals returned to the kitchen practically untouched! Seriously.....don't waste your money!!!

Meal was awful, king prawns like old rubber boots, service not brilliant either, but quick enough to take your money, will not be going there again

only good thing about this place was the staff were all friendly and the cockles puree starter the rest were just bland food your better off going out to the golden curry in mumbles rather than this place if you want flavor in my opinion.

We visited the zafron for my daughters birthday meal.There were 12 of us who all left very disappointed as the tandoori chicken tasted and smelt off and was also green.We complained to the manager only to be told it had been there too long and the chef had tried some.Will definitely not be returning and hoping any of us ain’t ill after it

Take away food always ready on time and of good quality, staff are always friendly even during lockdown. Numerous items on the menu I've never heard of but I'm working my way through.

We tend to order a takeaway/visit for a sit down meal a few times a month. We have never been disappointed with either the quality of the food or the service. On times where there have been mistakes with orders etc, they are always rectified quickly and with sincere apologies. Can’t recommend enough.

We ordered a takeaway Friday night from this restaurant. We'd previously eaten in here so thought it would be a safe bet for a delivery. We weren't disappointed. The food arrived within 30 minutes, piping hot and absolutely delicious. Some Indian takeaways are swimming in oil/ghee but this was not. Will definitely be ordering a takeaway/delivery from here again. Couldn't fault it and the complimentary chocolate each for after the meal was a very nice touch!

We are eating at this Indian Restaurants, owned by Bengalis. They have a very large menue reasonably priced. The customer service is exceptional, and the food is authentic, and very tasty. I normally don't like mint sauce, but I could eat lots of it at this restaurant. Nicely decorated fully licensed restaurant. Traditional tackle service; new cutlery for every course of meal. Everything in the restaurant is halal. This restaurant is closed to anyone staying in Breacon Beacons. The Zafran special biryani was definitely worth ordering.

Had dinner on my birthday and the food wasz exceptional. Highly recommend to go and have food according to your taste as we like spicy and asked them to make spicy and it was really worth value and delicious food.

Recently went for a meal to Zafran restaurant with my old school friends. I’ve have been there before so I’d know the food and service is going to be superb (it was) but... I have never seen a restaurants cleaner come from the kitchen and just grab a drink from the fridge!!! Especially with dirty clothes and also coughing without covering their face. It is just the little things they have to polish to thrive.

Went there on 17th, 4 an anniversary meal,wife had a lovely garlic tikka masala,I had the chicken bhuna (medium) it was tasteless,no heat,no spice,keema naan had very little meat inside, Keema rice was not fluffy. This was the 8th time we'd been 2 Zafran, every other time food was amazing, so was really disappointed & will not be rushing back. They did take the price of the bhuna off the bill.

Lovely food here. Never disappointed. The Sunday buffet is the best I have been to, and the staff are friendly

Went here tonight for the buffet and it did not disappoint plenty of options mild and spicy loads of variety for all diets and all for less than £10 per person the buffet is great value for money the only complaint being some of the less popular items on the buffet were like warm but the chicken nagawala I think it was called was superb will definitely return

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at the restaurant for all your help and support last night. All staff went over and above to accommodate us and were so generous with their donations also.The food was superb and plentiful.An amazing night was had by all. Thank you with all our hearts.

My Wife and I ended up here after being put off eating at a nearby Harvester!The cockle/prawn purée starters were excellent and plentiful!The lamb bhuna and mushroom rice/side dishes were also exceptional; so much we had to take some of it Home!Thanks to the front of house Lady, who is a dead ringer for SADE - she was a SMOOTH OPERATOR! Ha ha.

Turn up at 1740. Quite inside. Seated very quickly and drinks/food order taken in a good time. Then all went down hill. Waited an hour for 3 starters and 2 children's meal. Chicken pakora very nice. 2 potions of onion bajhi one was overcooked and one still raw in middle. Children's meal was lovely. Plates weren't cleared for 20 mins. Main meals chicken tikka korma was plentysome and lovely, chicken curry was very salty and tandoori mixed grill the nann bread and mint yoghurt never came out with it, when asked they was going to bill us for the nann bread. When the mains were served we ordered 2 kiddie suprise ice-cream when they were finally served we had finished our mains neither of the children are their ice-cream when we wondered why we soon realised they were out of date going out of date in may. Overall a very poor meal and experience.

Catch up with a friend, food here was full of flavour. Plenty of choice in the menu, reasonably priced. Excellent service, clean and nice atmosphere.

One word AMAZING. Food is fantastic and good portions, menu very varied, service professional and friendly and all with a relaxed atmosphere and decent prices. You have to visit here!!

Amazing food, friendly staff. Staff knowledgeable about origin of different dishes and make up and different flavours of the dishes. they will suggest dishes to suit your palate. You can even choose or change some of the flavours of your dish.

Started off with a chicken pakora starter and a chicken chat starter my pakora was delicious literally must have come straight out of the pan boiling lightly crispy with coriander over the top. Mains chicken delight with keema rice and chips and keema nan I had green chillis in my delight only way I can describe it is the different flavours going off in my mouth with every mouthful was mouth watering and amazing. Staff were helpful and nice. Defo can't wait till next time.

Absolutely fantastic meal again tonight. You will have to go a long way to beat the food here. Will be back soon.♥️

No need for many words. I like Indian food and this was spot on with good service at a good price. What a pity I live 200 miles away or I’d be in there a lot...maybe I will again...

Booked family meal for six. Given time to check the menu. Staff not at all pushy. Asked for something not on the menu and they obliged. Food was hot and tasty, and packed up to takeaway afterwards as couldn't eat it all. Very friendly staff. Nice Indian.

Visited on Easter Monday evening! The main dishes of Lamb Bhuna and Lamb Pathia were excellent in quantity and quality, as was the Sag Aloo side dish and Keema Nan! Very pleasant Staff made an enjoyable visit! Thank you, reasonable price too!

Very disappointed. Both containers were nearly half full, rice did not seem to have been fried, and tikka masala tasted very sweet and like washing up liquid. They didnt even have a fork or spoon, but it was not cheap.

food was good, bit mixed up went for food 5:30 on a sunday.. 22 of us...they asked if we would like to have some of the Sunday buffet! They would leave it out longer for us 6 of us said no and had normal food, steak, chips .....

So I went here on a Tuesday evening for a charity meal. They charge 12 pound and half goes to charity. Samosas for starters. Nice. Lang korma with rice for main. Again nice. Very very busy in there. Fast service. I would double check if you are a vegetarian before you eat as someone who is vegan in our party was served chicken on her curry. Was immediately rectified.

Finished work and other half says come on let's have an Indian and I always know where we will go always a warm welcome and fantastic food very reasonable recommend every time

The toilets at this place are absolutely filthy. See example photo. I would not even wash my hands for fear of catching something. This is a real shame as the food is good. There just seems to be a lack of attention to cleanliness and the basics are overlooked.

If I want to really treat myself, I take a half hour drive to this takeaway just to pick up some food for the family. The curry is always full of flavour, the meat is cooked lovely and the boys are lovely when you go to pick up your meal. I love Indian food, here is one of my favourites..

Never has this place faulted us. A table of 2 to a table of 12 the service and quality is exactly the same.

I should start by saying that I often have a meal here and the staff are great. The food his usually brilliant.

Popped in on a tuesday night and it was quite busy. Service was very quick and the food was really nice. Staff were attentive and friendly but not intrusive asking if you were enjoying your meal every five minutes. Decor good and the meals are very reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back!

Booked this restaurant for a group of 30 on a Sunday, after recommendations from friends.

My girlfriend took me here for lunch and I have to say it was great. Easy to park. Good food and good service.

Me and my partner have just had our first takeaway from here the food arrived on time and hot portion sizes were plentyful. Had a lamb madras which was out of this world and the chilli cheese keema nan was beautiful will definelty be back

Been eating here for many years and often having a takeaway at the weekend. Service is good and often quick, but over the last eight months the food quality has deteriorated. Flavour is quite poor with very few spices available to the palette. The dishes we have eaten as a family have become quite watery. Disappointed.

The service isn't very good but if you can look passed that then the food a d price is Excellent.

Just left after the most awful experience ever at Zafran in Skewen. Arrived at 6:30pm for a pre booked table for 14 for my mother's birthday meal. As so many we decided to split the cheques down into the separate parties paying. Took 30 minutes for drink orders to arrive which were incomplete.. diet cokes were flat and had to prompt to take meal orders. Starters arrived 30 minutes after with things coming out in drips and drabs, with my mother only receiving her starters once everyone else had finished theirs. Main meals, where do I start!! Orders were brought out incomplete, people receiving chips after they had finished their mains, dishes sent back due to being cold and then mine and my partners meal arriving after everyone had recieved theirs and the majority finished at 8:40pm... so much so due to work commitments we had to have as a take away. Upon paying the bill and raising our concerns the gentleman said they had a problem with the chef having to leave due to an emergency (despite various other tables seated after us receiving their drinks, starters and mains and leaving happily before us) and as we had our food as a take away he was willing to take £6 off our £36 bill. Absolutely disgusted !!!

Came here for a Sunday buffet, the food was good and the staff were fine apart from the waitress who was miserable, unhelpful and rude. I think her face would break if she ever cracked a smile. Won’t be going there again

Love this place, still one of the best local curry houses. Good food, nice staff, decent prices. Highly recommended. Check out the kochi, really good. Buffet is a serve yourself type.

Went here on a Sunday lunch time. The waiter was very miserable who took us to our table... ordered a soft drink .. pint of coke it was flat.. ordered a bottle of cobra and they came back with a pint not much selection. Very poor.. the food was luke warm.. nearly cold if I'm honest.. the only food that seemed fresh was they chips... I would never go back here.. the staff are plain rude and very miserable... stay away..

This restaurant has been around for some time which in my opinion is a benchmark that there must be something special about the place. The food is by far one of the best I've tasted. The lamb kochi is to die for. Just amazing.

Had the best chicken shashlik I have ever tasted here...huge portion but no problem as they are happy to pack up what you can't eat into a doggy bag. Very good service, attentive but not over bearing.

One of the best experience in a truly authentic indian restaurant, I would compare the service here as Michelin star service. But I would like to focus this review on one star individual, master of customer service, the one and only Abdul Amin. Give this man a promotion.

Been going to these restaurant for many years and always have a good meal.. I have tried many different dishes and have always enjoyed The are always staff are friendly . I would recommend this place.

We have eaten at loads of Indian restaurants and my husband was born in India, Zafran has to be our favourite so far. The whole family love an evening out at Zafran, staff are really friendly and food is delicious, portions are large, but staff will always box the left overs to take home. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening. Having read some reviews it seemed a good place to go for a meal. Our first impressions weren't great. It looks like the kind of Indian you might visit after a night on the town. Lights inside were missing their shades with just bare bulbs, broken floor tiles just to mention a few things. The food that I ordered was of very poor quality and frankly I couldn't finish it even though I was hungry. The portion size is large and I think this pleases a lot of people, although I prefer quality over quantity. On a positive note the chips were nice. We wouldn't go there again even though people seem too like they place its not for us.

We have now been consistently visiting this place for well over a year and averaging at least once a month.Never ever had a bad experience and if we did they would sort it and make it good.The staff are sublime and the food perfect.If you want a fantastic meal and are in the vicinity then Zafran is the place to be.My only gripe is that it's not in my own village and we have to travel 12 miles to get there - well worth it.Diolch guys

Visited on a Monday night before the cinema. It was lovely and quiet but have been before on a Friday and Saturday night and it can get very busy. Chutney tray was lovely even if the poppadoms were slightly over cooked. I ordered a chicken tikka goa and it was much hotter than other goa's I have eaten in the past. It was hard work to eat it. Very tasty though and portion sizes were quite large. I couldn't finish mine had about half left. Two ladies on the table next to me asked for theirs to be boxed up to take home so that is always an option if you are too full. The naan bread was absolutely beautiful. Good prompt service.Just a word of warning, the curries here seem hotter than in other restaurants.

had a beautiful curry with my husband the drinks were a little expensive I only had a soda water and lime and I think it was nearly 3 pounds I paid for it.but had to say the curry my husband and myself had was very nice we both enjoyed it a lot

We have been several times now.Excellent value for Money.Food they put out is very good quality with many choices. The decor and seating is very pleasant. Great venue for couples or groups of people. Never gone home disappointed.

Everything was to spicy loads with marinades covering up things and what was that red stuff you gave me?The chicken was to overdone cremated and a few people in this place look a bit glassy eyed and the place stunk of bad meatMaybe its the alcohol affecting the eye balls or there on medication of some sort which can effect your eyes Me myself I ended up with heartburn during my meal and I don't think the food agreed with me because I wasn't sick but had the feeling of wanting to be but maybe something was stopping me being sick and it could of been something in the marinadesI want my money backand i'm not going in here again for the same treatment

If you are going to do just the basic Indian dishes they need to be of exceptional quality and I am afraid there was nothing special about this restaurant. The condiments that went with the poppadums were ok but that's about it. The food was just, well, ordinary. I asked for my dish to be madrass hot but it was how you would expect a winters day to be in Delhi, it was just mild and uninteresting.

Been here a couple of times now, food is lovely. Got there about 5.45 11th May, few groups came in after us and phone for take away was really busy & collections. Few complaining about staff on here, found the men friendly but one young girl wasn't, dont think she wanted to be there, it's a shame when staff like this spoil it.Will definitely return.

Popular local Indian ruined by surly staff. The food is bog standard average Indian. Our visit was spoilt by unacceptable uninterested service.It was a special occasion for us. Why do staff endeavour to ensure that clients won;t come back. .

There is plenty of choice on the food & drink menu & the prices are very reasonable. The food was delicious and portions are great! However, our waiter was rather rude. Anytime we requested anything such as a jug of water, he wouldn't respond and he would just walk away to get it. His face said it all, he didn't smile once. Manners cost nothing and it did have an effect on our night.

I have eaten here twice and both times had a good experience. The food is great, plentiful and good quality. The price is very reasonable and the atmosphere enjoyable. I would return again and would recommend this place if your in the area or looking for reasonable food at good prices.

This place is the absolute best restaurant for a curry in the world! No seriously I have had curry in lots of places but Zafran is the best. So much choice the consistency of the quality of the food is second to none. The staff are great too, we always have a lovely welcome and they are genuinely pleased to see us and everyone else. Visit this place you seriously will not be disappointed.

I have never been here before, but my Daughter and Son in Law are regulars, so they invited my Wife and I here on a wet, cold Wednesday night!It was very busy!I was impressed with the different menu and tried one of their starters of cabbage leaves with a minced lamp filling - it was excellent, as were ALL the other starters!I had a main of Lamb Bhuna and again all dishes were excellent!Friendly staff, very fast service and, all in all a pleasant night out!This is an excellent venue, try it on my recommendation; you will NOT be disappointed!Worthy of ten stars!

Whilst working in Swansea I really fancied a curry so I looked on trip advisor and Zafrans had good reviews. The taxi driver that drove me there said " as your from the midlands the curries here won't be as good" he couldn't have been more wrong. Nice warm welcome from the staff and I asked him to recommend something with green chilli in and he said the chicken chilli balti which was fantastic. I had the medley of dips with popadoms to start and a special pistachio culfi for desert, presented in a lovely ceramic bowl which the owner kindly washed for me and gave me as a gift. Fantastic service and food.

Visited the Zafran again last night and once again food and service was outstanding. This restaurant has always produced fantastic food and may it long continue.

Had yet another excellent takeaway and as somebody who has also had a sit down meal the quality is the same, our only criticism is the decor, looking very tired, takeaway sofa needs taking away and burning, walls scratched carpets poor. on another note staff are great, helpful and smiley.

My wife and I often treat ourselves to a great indian meal at Zafran but only on weekday nights as it is always extremely busy on weekends and advisable to book in advance. The choice and range of scrumptious, delicious meals on the menu caters for all tastes and it is not all curry meals. The service is excellent and from time of taking your order, your meal is in front of you in minutes, I have never known such fast service in a busy restaurant with friendly, smiling waiters who cannot do enough to please in a cosy ambient atmosphere. The prices are equally as shocking as the express service - amazing value for money. The Zafran has to be in the top 5 indian restaurants in Neath and Swansea. It is always a great dining experience here, that is why it is so popular. If you have never dined here before, you are in for a treat, bon apetit.

Nice atmosphere, lovely food and not too expensive! The outside of the building does let it down a little and it doesn't reflect what the food is really like. Had the chutney tray with poppadoms for starters - which me and my partner both really enjoyed! I had the prawn curry for my main with rice and my boyfriend had a hot curry. We both really enjoyed our meal and felt welcome there. Lovely

I have eaten here several times They have a good selection to suit all tastes Meat fish vegetarian dishes cooked in a large selection of sauces If you want to order your favourite they will cook it The Indian icecream is delicious The service is good the staff always helpful It's very popular so may need to book especially weèkends The food is reasonably priced.

Great service, Great Food and Great Atmosphere. The menu is varied which is almost the same as lots of Indian food menu's but once your order is taken by the friendly staff, you do not have to wait long before it appears on your table. Very warm and friendly atmosphere inside and the layout is such that you can always interact with other guests or you can just have the experience between yourselves. Only pain is the lack of parking on site. You have to park out on the main street which is ok so long as it's not that a busy night in tow.

Been going there for years and it never disappoints. Just finished my takeaway with the other half. For £20 we had a massive amount of food, all of which was outstanding and we have enough left to eat tomorrow! Will keep coming back.

First visit to the Zafran, took my family there last night and had a great time. Will certainly visit again in the near future. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

An amazing friendly restaurant where you can adapt the menu to suit your tastes. Nothing is too much and they cater for all.

We always go here when we want an Indian. The staff aren't always the most welcoming but It is by far the best Indian restaurant in skewen.

The new takeaway in cimla is the best Indian takeaway in the area. No doubt about it. The original Zafran in skewen is great too but they have surpassed themselves with the quality of the food they produce in their new takeaway.Open kitchen so you can watch your order being prepared whilst you wait. The ingredients are so fresh and delicious. Great value too. Highly recommended.

We called in at 7pm on Friday evening to start the weekend off. There were three or four other tables occupied and was quiet overall. We started with the most delicious light poppadopms ever with the chutney tray our main meal was outstanding. The food is cooked to perfection so delicious I could eat there every evening. Do yourself a favour try this place you won't be disappointed stunning.

What has happened to the zafran???? I used to be a regular customer but ordered a take away tonight with no meat in my keema nan and only 3 pieces of lamb in my curry, sides were fine but definitely won't be rushing back

This month, South Wales Phall Club selected Zafran for our meeting venue. The place was packed due to a huge hen party where at least 75% of the women were pregnant. If it's good enough for pregnant women, it's good enough for us.Despite them being busy I was very pleased the staff went out of their way to find us a table. We enjoyed the views of Skewen from the spacious front window table.I know I'm a member of South Wales Phall Club but I've never actually tried a Phall. The hottest I've ever gone is a Madras. So as I washed down a testosterone pill with a swig of Cobra, I decided, tonight is the night to man up and try a Vindaloo.There were a few Vindaloos to choose from. I went for the Goa Lamb, which included Pineapple and Potato. I was a bit reluctant to have Pineapple at first as the last time I had it was at a disciplinary in work two years ago (I still can't walk properly). I'm glad I left it in there though as it made the dish. So I got my sweat on and demolished the curry.Zafran did well. I will be back at some point. A quick thanks to the waitress who took the picture of us for TripAdvisor.

Although I have now moved 20 miles away...I used to live two minutes walk down the road...we still have a takeaway from here every week. We have found nowhere to rival it. The staff are very attentive, it is excellent value and the St Emillion red wine is to die for!

Recently visited as a group of 12 local mums. They served us quickly and we're very organised when bringing our good out, it all arrived quick and at the same time, nothing was missing and all our meals were great! Very pleased with service considering our large group size. Plus they allowed us to pay separately and made it all very easy for us. We stated late and we're last people there but we didn't feel rushed to leave. Try the chicken merengo!!!

This curry house offers a range of different curries. The food is outstanding and the service is also really good. Clean and tidy restaurant.

I visited Zafran last Friday evening with a large party, we were all looked after really well. The food was really tasty and the staff were able to answer all our questions and fulfill all our requirements of having dishes a bit spicier than normal. The food was served promptly and was excellent value for money. The bar service was a tad slow but that was only because they were very busy and the bar person was also deadline with the many people collecting takeaways. I would definitely return.
