First time here! Amazing service! And lovely flavoursome food! Very impressed with definitely make it the out usual for a curry! 2 points though not enough garlic on garlic naan and time to get the bill but everything else was so exceptional didn't want to reduce the stars!

First visit here. Food was the best Indian I've ever had. We will be returning.

Easily the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I made an order for collection and drove home to discover missing items in my order. I called the restaurant immediately to make them aware of the error and explained that the missing items were for my sister. The member of staff on the phone was so rude ‘well we can deliver them to you but will take half hour or just come and get them’ there was no apology for the mistake and inconvenience this caused me. I explained that I couldn’t wait and eat food in front of my sister and had no choice but to drive back to collect the items. I asked for a refund of £6 on the missing items to pay for the cost in petrol to drive back to the restaurant. The member of staff got defensive, and spoke to a member of his team and swore several times about me and my request. When I questioned the member of staff about the way he spoke about me, he never once apologised and ignorantly said ‘make a decision do you want the chips or not’. Unfortunately, this has completely changed my opinion on this restaurant and after years of eating here, I will never return.

Grossly overrated. Decor is very old school and dated. Service is good. Food not so good, meat on starters and main was tough and tasted like it had been sitting around a while then reheated, food it self was very bland. Mediocre at best....

Fantastic service, beautiful food. First time coming here, was surprised how busy it was for mid January. We had a 7pm booking and on leaving there were still loads coming in. Shows how popular and good the place is. Cannot wait to return.

9 of our table tennis group went on a thursday night. Lovely curry and brilliant customer service. We look forward to going back March 2024. Thanks to all the staff at the Grand Sultan.

Unfortunately my main course went cold. They replaced it but it didn't have the same ingredients as first dish so ended up not eating it. Sides also went cold as served in China dishes and no hot plate provided. It was extremely busy.

We as a family visited the Sultan on Oct 25th for a 70th birthday treat for myself reaching this venerable age. Everything about the evening was absolutely spot on, the staff were attentive but not at all intrusive and the food was really good. All Ten meals were devoured with no waste returned to the kitchen. I would highly recommend the Sultan for any get together or just a quiet night out, x

The restaurant was very busy, very loud and the staff didn't seem to be able to cope. It took an hour between being seated a getting our food which was nothing special. Dissappinted.

This place never fails . Another amazing meal here . The staff were excellent, well mannered, and know the menu well for recommendations. The chutney tray was just to die for . And the keema rice and keema naan bread . Main curries were good too .

Really well kept restaurant with great service and delicious food. Good range of dishes to suit many tastes. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly.

They had our table waiting and the waiters were warm and friendly. Little things like making jokes with the kids didn't go unnoticed and made us feel welcome. The service was quick and thorough. Food was excellent and the waiters checked on us regularly which was a nice touch. The price also was decent considering there were 9 of us and the amount of dishes we ordered. For starter I ordered chicken 65 which was so so good. Main was chicken bhuna also excellent. Around the table there were also dishes like garlic chilli tikka, lamb balti and korma and all were complimented. I love my Indian food and this was one restaurant that does the whole experience very well. I could understand why there were so many awards displayed as it is top place to dine in

I heard about this restaurant, so on a trip home to Wales the wife and I stopped by as we are avid Indian cuisine fans. We got a few onion bhajis to start that were good. For the mains we got korma and cocunut rice, and murgh makani (spelling) with keema rice, alongside a garlic/keema naan. Both currys were in my opinion poor. The Korma was super sweet and had very little flavor but the makani was worse. It had cheese on top which I never had before and it tasted of essentially nothing. I was looking for a depth of flavor and some spice but I was very underwhelmed. The naans were so dry, and the keema Naan just again tasted of nothing. The keema rice was OK, but again nothing compared to some of the Indian restaurants we tried in Edinburgh. Service was OK, no problems there, our server was nice. Overall I was incredibly disappointed. I want to go back and try some other choices on the menu, hopefully they are better.

Visited here on Saturday. ( not my 1st time ) Group of 12. 10 adults and 2 teenagers. Excellent food and drinks. Most had starters, all had mains, and most had desert. Bill came to just over £300 with drinks. Great value for money. Good generous portion of fresh cooked food. I'll definitely be coming back

what a wonderful meal at this fabulous restaurant! whilst visiting from London for my wives birthday , i was recommended this restaurant by close friends whilst staying in Swansea. i have to say , it was one of the best meals we’ve had and returned home wishing they’d open one closer to home! thank you for the amazing service provided by the waiters , and making my wife’s birthday extra special . The lamb tikka Jalfrezi was 10/10 , highly recommend you try it with the delightful keema and don’t forget the popodoms as their mint sauce is the best we’ve ever had. we are back in Wales in October and looking forward to returning for another meal , we won’t be making the same mistake twice and will defo be taking a takeaway home with us! thank you once again for an amazing evening .

Having travelled from Newport a number of times I already know the quality of food which has always been consistently great. Super friendly staff who looked after my family from upon entry to leaving. 10/10 experience.

Service appalling. We had to wait 20 mins for our table to be ready. Then we were left alone for 15 mins before asked if we wanted poppadoms. Another 10 mins before they arrived and the waiter finally took our order. Suddenly on leaving the table he elbows me in the head quite hard. It hurt and he didn’t check I was okay. Just said ‘Sorry’ and walked away. Food was third rate. Onion bahjis for starters were bland and tasted like they had been in the fryer too long. Main courses were Luke warm, and one was cold - Chicken Korma, tasteless as though it needed seasoning, chicken was dry and hard. Returned and although we were offered a replacement, it was nearing 10pm and I wasn’t going to wait another 20 mins. How they have won awards is beyond me. Definitely the NOT SO GRAND SULTAN. Recommend you give it a miss.

My friend and I were road-weary when we stopped at The Grand Sultan for dinner. We didn't have high expectations for a restaurant we chose at random, but we ended up being very pleased by our experience. The food was exceptional, the service attentive, and the decor pleasing. Jason King, our waiter, filled us in on the history of the place as well as kept us happy during our meal. Highly recommended!

I have had a few nice currys in the past but When will you and every other Indian restaurant in port talbot understand that extra hot does not mean sticking a whole pot of chilli powder in after its cooked it just makes the curry bitter and sour and really unpleasant spices have to be cooked out honestly iv made better myself

What a great resturant I can see why it's so popular great food at a really good price

First visit here for us. We were seated without a reservation. I ordered the salmon bhaji partner had biryani. My meal was OK nothing special. It had 2 sweet, thick sauces on the plate one over the salmon one poured to the side with one potato and one mushroom plonked in it. A small bowl of rice which was tasty. Salmon swimming in sauce overcooked and I believe frozen. My partner has biryani a lot and said this was just OK. Website claims to have won awards for the best Indian in South Wales. The food was nothing more than average at best.

We hadn’t been to this restaurant before but had read good things about it. We were sat near a table where there were two couples sat. One couple had two young children and the other had one. The couple with one child a baby around 12 to 15 months had some empathy for the other diners but the other couple none. Their children were around 3ish and another baby possibly under a year. When the first mentioned baby started banging the table loudly ! The mum in all fairness tried to stop her but the other woman said don’t worry she’s fine. We certainly didn’t find it fine we were trying to hold a conversation. The dad eventually took her out and settled her in her pram - well done. The couple with two youngsters just didn’t care. The 3 year ish old was shouting and jumping up on the chair. Then the baby started crying. It really wasn’t fair on the other diners. But the parents made no attempt to help the situation. I know you can’t always stop a baby from crying but you can stop a 3 ish year old from playing up. At the end of the day the children shouldn’t have been there. If you’re dining out get a baby sitter, until they are able to sit at the table and behave. As for the meals starters were good. My husband enjoyed his main of lamb saag. I chose the lamb kochi (from the list of the chefs recommendations.) but I was disappointed in it. The lamb hadn’t been cut the special way that it was supposed to be cut and the fried onions on the top were dried onions that were inedible. I explained this to the waiter and he tried to squeeze one but failed. He said he agreed with me and would tell the chef. Will we come back? Possibly but we’d be very careful as to where we sat.

Very busy place. Great welcome on arrival. Good atmosphere. Quick service for drinks and food order. Unfortunately, no interaction after that. Waited an hour for the meal. Food tasty but could have been hotter. Had to try and attract attention for any further service. Probably wouldn't go back!

We ordered a takeaway after hearing good reviews about this place, only to find out that our food when it was delivered was cold and having to put everything into the microwave. The naan bread was poor quality and no filling that we paid extra for along with the doughy onion bhaji, with very little onion if any! We paid £42 for a meal we were looking forward too only to be extremely disappointed ,we will not be ordering or recomending to friends in the near future !

We weren't told when ordering that we needed to specify the amount of spice we would like in our food. Our food arrived without any chilli in it so tasted very bland... When we asked the waiter, he told us that the regular customers preferred it like that!

Really bad service tonight ordered at 5:45pm said would take 60 mins, delivered at 19:20. Called the restaurant ask why it took so long as is was so cold, not even barely warm and I like my food warm and not hot. But had to zap it in the microwave. Had no reason apart from when it was cooked it was delivered. Driver even said that he was not very busy and only 3 deliveries so far tonight. Also found a piece of flat wood in my curry, does not look like a spice just looks like bark from a tree. Always had a hot meal from here with delivery, just tonight really disappointed!!! And not even an apology. You have now lost my custom!! 😡 My family and friends have left good reviews in the past, but this is my first time ordering as per recommendations. As I have spoken to the restaurant there was no reason or apology given to answer my questions I had. Not a good first time review!!

Food was very bland. Also, service was slow which left us disappointed as a group. We'd heard good comments about this place and that's why we wanted to try it. We will not be going back.

Really really disappointed, I order my curry from here everytime I have one, tonite I decided to go for something different (chicken tikka masala) I will never order it again!! Dark dark red in colour, didn't even taste like a tikka, I had 2 mouthfuls on the curry, in the bin its gone.

First visit. Heard good things about it, and how it was award winning etc. Booked for 7.30 but had to stand in bar area for 15 mins as table not ready. No waiting area, so just standing around with people collecting take aways. Poppadoms were...

We had booked up for my sons birthday as he loves Indian food. We had high hopes and were really looking forward to our visit. We arrived for our seating at 8pm. 30 minutes later we were FINALLY seated. In waiting looking into the food...
