Dominic was great, very attentive he made our dining experience one to remember. We were made to feel welcome & would definitely return.

I love this place. It is the best British takeaway Chinese food I've ever had in my life. It itches that scratch the "god i fancy a chinese", when I eat a Chinese not from Yumejin I close my eyes and pretend. There are some nights where it's abit "ooo that's a different chef". Only advice get a couple more veggie options, play around more with the tofu sweet and sour tofu balls would bang 🩷

Visited with family so was seated at a table for 8. Parking quite easy as there is plenty available to the side and no parking charges. We all opted for the Buffet option which is £20.88 each person but the whole table have to have this option or it will not apply. There are plenty of starters to suit and you can pick a few dishes so everyone can share and you can orfer more if you require. We opted for Peking spare ribs, spring rolls, crispy seaweed, chilli dry ribs, squid and sesame prawn toast, all absolutely delicious, especially the peking ribs!! You then get a the mid meal whcih you can order crispy duck, sweet and sour soup , vegetable stir fry, but again the whole table ordered the duck, whcih came enough for the whole table. For the mains, we have szcehuan chicken, sweet and sour chicken, tempura prawns, egg fried rice, beef chow mein, chicken chow mein and chicken satay. All dishes were hot and delicious and everyone was full by the end of the evening. The service was very good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The drinks are average price as you would expect and it was warm inside with a good atmosphere. The decor could do with a freshen up but this did not detract from us all having a good evening at the Yumeijin. A very good chinese restauarant to suit all palates and there is something on the menu for everyone. The main menu can work out a ittle expensive wo would advise you all to go for the buffet optiojn and you can all share and experience all the flavours.

Unfortunately every time we order we get a different experience. One day could be delicious and one day could be bland and horrible. Today we got a delivery and the driver had spilled the sweet and sour sauce all over the bag and tubs, no apology and no offer to get another just that I would have to deal with it. The mixed meat udon noodles tasted like water, no flavour at all and very disappointing. Unfortunately will not be returning

I had a beef chow Mein and my friend had sweet and sour pork and king prawn fried rice. The food was so nice and the portions were a good size. The service was excellent the staff were so pleasant , helpful and not overbearing. I left a nice tip and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Could do with lowering the lights a tad to give the place a bit more atmosphere but the food and service was fabulous.

gone downhill… food is flavourless and rubbish, the noodles were overcooked and lacked flavour, ribs had no meat on them, overall a shambles. this is particularly embarrassing as id recommended this place to my girlfriends father and family, so we ordered from here, and i was embarrassed to have suggested this place. nobody was impressed i thought this must’ve been a one off, upon trying food again here i quickly realised it wasn’t, and that this place is just crap. “crispy chicken wings” absolutely drenched in a disgusting flavourless sauce, making them soggy. chicken clings onto the bones for dear life, chewy and crap. go to aroma instead, it’s the best takeaway Chinese in wellingborough and even if you have to pick it up, it’s worth it.

I’ve been with friends 4 times now and I think the food and service is brilliant. The Buffet menu has something for everyone and a good price. Drinks are a little expensive but that’s the same wherever you go these days. I’m looking forward to going again soon as the starters are unbelievable. It’s just a case of taking your time and not being greedy by ordering more than you can eat.

This place is fantastic- everything from the food to the service. We were a party of 8 - the food was delicious and it only came in at only £30 per head. We eat out a lot and enjoy Japanese, Korean etc. this is our favourite. Highly recommended

We will absolutely never return to this place again. The chicken balls were ice-cold and undercooked, and the chicken in the fried rice was also cold and raw. When I called to address the issue, the person on the phone showed no interest in resolving the problem or even coming to inspect the food, clearly showing a lack of concern. After reading other reviews, it's clear this has happened before. If we get sick from this food, I will take further action. Still waiting on a refund. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

I don’t know what happened to this place as when we first ordered around a year ago it was great and then every time we had it lately it just kept getting worse and worse. But today it actually crossed the line for us, the food we just ordered is inedible. Got 2 different chicken dishes and both of them are horrible! So chewy and tasteless, veg inside is completely raw and the chow mein noodles are bland and old. Today was the last day we had food from there.

What an absolute ripoff… was amazing many years ago so to go back to find the food was sub standard and the price was an absolute ripoff… What a shame.. How something so good many years ago has turned terrible.

stunning! amazing place and food and staff and fish in the window. nothing’s too much to ask for. i had 4 plates of szeshuan beef alone on top of everything else. the mrs tapped out half way through but i kept pushing on. food came out quick and with a smile and i never got told to stop, but i did get told to carry on. lovely place. would deffo recommend.

Create a good value buffet, with a large selection of dishes. Presentation of of food is marvellous, and tastes as good.

The Spare Rib BBQ was tender and delicious...not forgetting the cripy veggie Spring rolls even when u still wanna eat it hot

For how expensive the food is I expect better quality tasting food not good at all I won’t be ordering again. Definitely not worth the money. Delivery time was good. Too good maybe they should have spent more time on making the food taste better

This was a take away order. Usually we have been more than pleased with the food from you but on 30.6.2024 when we had our usual it was disgusting, actually inedible, the chicken balls were different from the usual ones and weren’t even cooked, the sweet and sour sauce was thin and tasted totally different, the rice wasn’t even the same as normal and the spare ribs were fatty and not cooked like normal, this is the only Chinese we go to as it’s the only one that usually doesn’t make me feel ill but none of it was edible to be honest, we were shocked and rang you only to be fobbed off with we will give you a discount next time (as we didn’t want a replacement then) well we don’t think we will ever want to have another take away from you!

What happened..... Went here around 8months ago and was delicious.Just had it tonight and had to throw it. Not a single redeeming quality and wish I went to our local. Almost £10 more expensive too. I will not be returning

I had the special chow mein a week ago. I was very disappointed as it wasn't dry as it should have been, it was soggy and tasteless and I found it hard to find any meat or prawns. Unfortunately I won't be back.

We went on Sunday for the Buffet, this was my first visit but was told the food was good. I was not disappointed it was truly delicious, would highly recommend.

This used to be an excellent restaurant. Food was always good, well cooked and great quality. Had a takeaway last night which did not match that standard at all. Slimy crispy duck, undercooked pancakes and greasy prawn toast for starters. Mains: flavour free and chewy beef in black bean sauce, special chow mein which was predominantly noodles and very little anything else. Even the prawn crackers were greasy and no real flavour Poor. And seriously overpriced at £9 a dish!

what can I say apart from not worth the money or the time ordering it. chicken balls not cooked right, some of the order was wrong. they did change and send right order after we had phoned them but wasn't much better. noodles tasted like they were cooked hours before, very dry. honestly I don't normally complain but I won't be ordering from them again sorry you messed up guys

Food is delicious especially those noodles with sea food… amazing! However, for a second day in a roll i ordered pork with some black bean sauce and am getting duck.. which is quite disappointing so i will not be ordering again that dish, it seems no pork available

Truly horrible takeaway. Ordered the Hot Hors d'oeuvre for 2. Very scant food for the price and tasted like it was yesterday's heated up. What a waste of money. Never again. Avoid. Only good thing was the lovely lady who delivered it.

Was charged over £40 for 2 lots of house hot hors d’oeuvres, this comprised of some seaweed, 2 satay chicken , handful of veg spring rolls, 2 dry spare ribs, 2 prawn on toast and 2 chicken gyoza, my order cost nearly £80 in total!! The food itself tasted nice but ridiculously expensive for what we received!! I have emailed them but no reply!! Can’t afford to use them again

Ordered my Chinese was very unhappy to find out the Food was flavourless, the noodles were over cooked and Curry sauce was too salty tasted like it was from a packet. Tescos could do better! Would not suggest ordering from here. The chef definitely needs some further training if he thinks that is executable to serve. I wouldn’t even serve that to my dog.

As a takeaway, it’s great. But as a restaurant it is very poor. With the majority of their business being driven by Deliveroo, Just Eat and their own delivery service, restaurant standards have really slipped over the years we have been visiting. It lacks any soul and ambience with bright lights and no music making for an uneasy environment. The young staff, while efficient, could do with some training in enhancing their customer service. It’s not bad service but it’s awkward, again adding to an uncomfortable setting. The food was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok but sadly, the current pricing is more geared towards luxury food whereas this food is standard. The noodles we ordered were plentiful but tasted like they’d been cooked in old oil which added a certain ‘flavour’ I wasn’t expecting. I have no complaints about the other dishes in terms of portion sizing but everything was just a bit too greasy, although meat was not lacking which was good to see. Children are not catered for in the restaurant and whilst I can understand that approach, it would be nice to be able to have access to smaller portions or a small menu. That is a personal thing and hasn’t contributed to my overall rating. The ladies bathroom was really quite gross with mouldy grout, a dirty washcloth left by the sink and just being, overall a bit grim. No hot water either to wash hands with. So essentially, grab it as takeaway/delivery but don’t bother sitting inside. It lacks warmth and personality and just isn’t welcoming at all.

Rated 5 Star for Wellingborough, food is excellent and restaurant is really nice, ideal for a date. The food is what will blow you away, it's the best in area by far, a significant difference from all other Chinese restaurants in the area.

Bland food, miserable, slow service, expensive for the quality of food, nothing to recommend it I’m afraid. They seem to focus more on takeaways than diners in the restaurant.

Nice food a little expensive but was really nice food

I have been to this restaurant several times over the past 6 or so years but I will say after reading the recent reviews I was concerned my latest visit was going to be my last. Very happy to say it won’t be! Yes there are some electric heaters about the place, but I wore a jumper (it is January after all) and I didn’t once feel cold. The staff were attentive (there were a few big groups in the restaurant) and food and drink orders were promptly delivered after ordering. The food itself was delicious, the prawn cracker starter was appreciated as was the fortune cookie to end!! Fair prices and nice service. Would definitely come again.

1st time ordering Yumeijin, Food was Very tasty and delicious. Only thing we didn’t like were the Prawn Crackers which tasted rather different and not that nice.

Beware of this! Asked about the Christmas buffet & told the difference between normal & Christmas was that it included all seafood dish’s which was no problem as one of the girls doesn’t eat seafood & the other was a vegan & they would both prefer to eat from the normal menu. I booked the table for four adults & upon arrival told the owner/manager that two would eat from the normal menu & two would do the buffet as per the offer which states it is for a minimum of two persons. He then said that everyone on the table had to eat the Christmas buffet & wouldn’t budge from that position!? There is no mention of that on any of the pages here, on their website or on the printed buffet menu on the table & he agreed it wasn’t stated anywhere on his advertising. I asked him at least three times to be sensible & he said he wouldn’t serve us unless we all ate the buffet. At that point we obviously left the restaurant & we will never return having eaten buffet there many times over the last couple of years!!!! What would happen if you took young kids, vegans, vegetarians or someone with allergies to certain dishes? Does he seriously expect everyone to pay the same £29.50 plus 10% service charge in top…totally unbelievable!!!!

Good selection on the menu and some dishes were very good. However, the amount of MSG used was way too much and caused some of my party a sleepless night. For anyone that doesn't know, MSG is used in many Chinese restaurants as a flavor enhancer. You will know if too much has been used as it will make you thirsty, overheated and will keep you awake. Basically you get a hangover. Good chefs do not use MSG!

First time ordering from here. A little disappointed with the squid. The batter was not as crispy and dry as expected. Little expensive for what it was. The dry beef hofun was good.

Good food and fast delivery service

Myself and family and friend went for my birthday dinner this evening, a meal for 7 but 2 where young men of seven years old, I was immediately told of how to order from the set meal menu as the buffet wasn’t on a Monday and that this way there would be lots of food for the children too, our two waiters where friendly and very helpful in fact the service was great, the food came out with starters which we shared then a duck course and then mains, the food was very good and very delicious, I was then treated to a bottle of wine for my birthday, I will definitely be back soon x

I ordered chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, however what I got was chicken with lots of diced carrot in yellow bean sauce, not a single cashew nut in the whole dish. This was very disappointing as I’ve had the dish in the restaurant and it was fine.

Was a good restaurant. The only that let it down was the constant nagging from staff asking if we are finished. Which made us feel like we had to leave in a hurry which was uncomfortable.

Fast delivery and excellent quality service and good food

7 of us went for what we thought would be a nice meal. The food was average at best, the service was horrendous, the staff are all very young but clearly lack any sort of training. It’s also expensive for what it is. We went on a Saturday evening and there was only 1 other group in there, I think the lack of custom shows how this place has gone downhill

I have ordered the same noodles as my husband and mine was really smoked and taste was different. Needless to say about my stomach who was hurt all night and today as well. Thanks Yumeijin!

They need to give more detail on the website about exactly what is in the meal as regards what veg etc is included .

This was the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been in. I can only say one thing, please send Gordon Ramsey in there he would have a field day.

Terrible food! Rated highly on Ubereats but I imagine that’s because the app asks you to rate the delivery, not the food! Bland chewy sweet and sour HK style, the S&S balls were even worse! Over cooked batter! Terrible experience, won’t be ordering from here again!

We ordered our chinese and it came within 15 mins ..it was the worse chinese we have had ..the chicken balls was more batter and soggy than chicken the chowmeing was unedible..the squid terrible . the lamb pancakes was expensive but dont mind if its good and it wasnt good it was just full of fat no meat . The curry was unedible sorry will not reorder ever again

I couldn't post my review on uber but I'll post it here. This place had become my food for comfort during bad times. It always brings me happiness when I get my favourite food and every tike I try new things from the menu it never disappoints. I have also recommended this place to everyone I know to try the food. ❤️

Previous meals here have been good. Not the same today. Batter on prawns tasted oily and stale. Barely warm. Similar story with the chips which were soggy and undercooked. Only thing half decent was the chow mein.

Ordered takeaway. The food was delivered quickly and was hot, but it tasted very bland. I was also surprised at the cost. I paid £45+ for four dishes (inc delivery) These are London prices for less than average food. Will not purchase again.

Really nice food but wasn't happy with a service charge.

We ordered a takeaway from here after a long time and I have to say we were very disappointed. The chicken Schezuan was very very oily and no taste. The noodles were ok but had better. The sale and chilli chicken was very soggy. Overall not happy and unfortunately will not be ordering again. Moreover took over an hour for our delivery. The app just kept changing the time.

Went with mate, good service, tasty food. Chow mein tasty as hell, prawns massive. Portion size big, crispy prawns to die for. Complimentary sauce was a good touch. EDIT: 08.05.23 menu seems to have changed, prawn chow mein no longer on the menu and they dont do the crispy prawns in batter anymore (as stated by a waitor). Past experiences good but this time there seems to be a quality drop, (very oily, more of a fatty greasy taste). Possibly due to it being a bank holiday so must have been busy, but I preferred the old menu.

Took my daughter here for a birthday meal. the food was amazing as always ( we have a takeaway most weeks from here). Service was great, the young lads were very attentive always asking can they help etc. Deffo worth a visit in or by takeaway.

Lovely service from who I presume the owner/general manager was, a younger looking boy was quite blunt and stand offish but he could’ve been having a bad day. Food was delicious, fresh, quick and well priced, tons of vegan and veggie options and huge portions! Really enjoyed our meal here.

The staff were outstanding. Food was amazing with very little waiting time. If you are going to order the sea bass allow 45 minutes before serving(it does advise on menu). Recommend to anybody. So many dishes and flavours.

Pretty awful. Chicken was so over cooked as to be uneatable. Was a treat for my mother and family, and she was so disappointed. She threw away the food. I will never use them again.

We had visited this restaurant 7 years ago, and it had always been most enjoyable, but my visit on Sat 10th March was unbelievably disappointing. Although the decor is opulent, the restaurant was Freezing Cold, with little electric heaters dotted about. The disco music belting out certainly did not add to an orient ambience. Our starters were overloaded with salt, and loaded with onions. My husbands Sea Bass was satisfactory, whilst my Thai Red Curry had No Sauce at all, it was more like a gloopy stir fry. Thankfully this was removed from the bill. One waitress served us wearing a fluffy jacket, due to the cold. The staff were clearly inexperienced. Our Pinot Noir wine was good, but the small glasses didn't do it justice. The Ladies Bathroom was unhygienic. I was saddened that this restaurant failed on so many levels, the place had few diners, but it was clear they are busy as a takeaway. If you enjoy fine dining, avoid this restaurant at all cost.....or wear two coats!

I had delivery and there seems to be an issue with every single time I order to add to that the customer service received was unacceptable, we had something missing and all the food was cold and when I complained she told me she’d had many complaints today and that she can’t offer me any compensation, which is unacceptable as the food was cold and not very enjoyable! Very disappointed!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE !!

The service was great and most of the food was nice, some of the food was over salted. With that being said, the portions are generous and would satisfy those with a big appetite or could be shared between two. The bill was a little higher than other places but not completely unreasonable.
