Yum Cha in Liverpool

*Menu changes* I have always been a fan of Yum Cha over the years. The staff are really friendly and professional. I have always ordered the chicken satay as it was out of this world. I ordered it again this evening and got home to find that it did not resemble the normal chicken satay I was used to. I called the restaurant and the lady said that some menu items had changed. Let me say that the chicken satay has not changed for the better. The chicken tasted like reformed chicken, possibly steamed, and cheap. I was rather disappointed. I was not told that the menu had changed, so this was not a great experience. It seems that I will have to look for somewhere else to order from, which is a shame as the chicken satay was the best I had ever tested. The good quality meat is what set Yum Cha apart from the rest, but that is not the case anymore.

Friendly staff, nearby parking, friendly attentive staff, quick and efficient service. Food was great, tasty and big portions. Highly recommended.

the place was beautiful decorated as it was like staying in paradise. There was no car park which made it hard to find one to have dinner there.The food was very delicious and our favorite was the the steamed rice with nicely cooked pork and the dumplings which was rainbow colour.

We ate there this evening and the food was delicious. Lots of choice on the menu, we ordered too much but were given great take home boxes. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the perfect cocktails were a bonus!

Hmmm its new and very different to your usual Chinese. I love the concept, fantastic decor and clearly looks like being a success. Having seen many Chinese people in there its always an indication that the food will be good. sadly I was underwhelmed on my first visit but did visit again and still waiting for that moment when I can fully appreciate it. Early days, I felt the food was warm at best which was disappointing, is that the chef or servers? anyway, still like the offering just wanted more!!. Overall, great menu, excellent Dim Sum menu which I will try and I will revisit!!

Lovely food and great service from Abtin. I had the bao buns followed by kung pao chicken.

Not much taste to the chicken dishes I had , no salt and pepper taste at all.

Rubbish food Ordered the massaman curry and a side of egg fried rice. It came out dumped in a bowl altogether!!!! Cold and uninviting yuk.

Definitely a bit different to your regular Chinese. I can’t say it was my personal favourite - there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food at all it was just a bit meh / bland in my opinion (just my opinion!) The food was lovely and fresh though and I love how it was presented in the bowls

Lovely staff. Food was decent. Steak lukewarm. Not a great cut. Pork belly lukewarm. All seemed a bit underwhelming with its temperature.

Very disappointing. The menu looks great but fails to deliver on quality. Starters and main course arrive at the same time. The presentation was appalling. The food was just thrown together with no care or repect for the customers. Fried rice was like porridge. Char sui was dry and completely tasteless. Salt + pepper ribs were on the cold side of lukewarm. Had to ask for soy sauce. Had to ask for napkins. Each time took a few minutes as the staff seem untrained and spend more time chatting together at the bar than looking after customers.

First of all, very friendly staff!! Cocktails were good. But the food was not great. The rice was crunchy and dry which in my opinion is below standards. Most of the food looks great online but in reality is so bland, feels like it's just marketing.

Went for an early doors tea, Order taken & food served up in no time, generous sized portions of really tasty food. Polite & friendly staff waiting on & at the risk of sounding tight, not charged a silly amount for a cordial drink like some places. Will deffo return.

DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE!! Ordered food from this place, first time trying and what a disappointment, our order arrived completely wrong and the items we got where cold anyway! When I phoned up the lady lied to me and told me they would send my order out, and didn't and now they have closed without anyone to talk to. I've sat waiting for an hour to be massively disappointed, worst service I have ever dealt with and outright liers. Never ever ordering or spending money on this place again, strongly recommend anywhere else on lark lane or anywhere in Liverpool.

We came for a family members birthday and had a Terrible experience at yum cha, the staff were so rude and made us feel so uncomfortable.

I’m so disappointed. Im vegan but their menu is so badly labelled that I’ve been regularly ordering and eating egg noodles from here through deliveroo. They aren’t labelled as containing egg and the dish they come with is otherwise vegan. It’s such a shame bc generally their food is really good. I used to be a regular customer but I can’t bring myself to order from here again, I don’t trust them.

Best Chinese in the area. Had veg spring rolls, noodle soup. Very nice. Only slightly down in stars just because I wanted more chilli. If you like it milder you will enjoy this place.

Kind of bland not gonna lie. No spices or flavours in the food. The decor is really pretty. And it’s really nice in the summer that you can sit outdoors.

The service is good but why there is no potato or carrot in the curry? It doesn’t mean they should add potatoes or carrots in it, just to say the flavor needs to be improved.

Only one problem is that the staff keep parking outside my house in front of my drive way . Over 10 times this year iv been unable to move my car because of there inconvenient parking . Only way iv found out it was them was my camera and thay all where nice t-shirt with there logo on the back. Great food but staff really need to learn of to park. Black Mercedes is the worst

I’m a regular visitor to Yum Cha on Lark Lane and absolutely love the food. It’s my 1st choice when family and friends visit me from London and I’ve always had an amazing experience. This evening I was walking home from my friends on the lane and smelt the food so decided to order a couple of things via Deliveroo. I ordered what I would have if in-house including the Teriyaki Steak, Belly pork and duck spring rolls. I received a call shortly afterwards to say they belly pork had ran out and could I choose another. I chose duck and was gobsmacked when it arrived, a slither of fatty duck presented disgustingly. I am incredibly disappointed and the steak was awful, so fatty and inedible. It was a complete waste of over £20 for a little treat. I work with luxury restaurants and hoteliers all over the world in my job role as a consultant and have always raved about this restaurant, however now being not able to call or contact them, I’ll never visit or get a take out again. Very poor service and food quality!

Myself and my partner came here with some friends another couple in October 2022. They recommended the place and I have to say it was worth recommending. You can’t book a table but we didn’t have to wait long! A good selection on the menu and portions are quite generous we ordered a little too much as we ordered a number of dim sum and a main each! Staff are friendly and place had a good atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much me and my partner also went to the one in Manchester a couple months later!

My partner and I went for dinner we both vegans, they have good vegan opinion’s and fresh food, the attendants are very friendly and nice.

I came in here with a group of friends a couple of weeks ago, we decided to sit outside as it was quite a sunny day. Promptly after we sat down, our waitress, Megan, came over to take our drinks order (I recommend the Sugar Hill cocktail!). Megan was bubbly, and made us all feel so welcome. We ordered some small plates to share and the food came out quickly, it was delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

I had such a fantastic experience tonight at Yum Cha in Liverpool. The food was nice, but a massive shoutout to our server Rosie. She was enthusiastic, kind, and above all, friendly. Checked up on us all night. Absolutely made our night! Thank you Rosie!!

We visited recently for a spot of lunch and weren’t disappointed, although our eyes were bigger than our bellies! We started with some traffic light dumplings which were tasty and good fun, then some lovely Xiaolong Bao with tasty broth inside. We shared some ramen which was nice enough though pretty average, before a gently warm but tasty chicken satay and rice. Overall, lovely food and I’d recommend. Considering how quiet it was when we went and the abundance of staff, I’d say the service wasn’t brilliant and the communication poor; we asked for the cheesecake to go and it was brought to us plated to eat, we told the gentleman ‘sorry, we asked for it to go, would you mind boxing it up?’ He then promptly took the cake back to the kitchen and disappeared for about 10, minutes, after which he started serving others. We tried to flag him down and I ended up having to go round to the bar to ask them to box the cheesecake up. Minor, but mildly annoying. I’d go back though, the food really was quite lovely.

Service was poor, staff standing right by your table talking to other staff. Food and drinks came out quickly and everyone enjoyed it, forgot our prawn crackers and when they brought them over we found a long black hair in them. Was highly disappointed reported this to staff and they would not remove this item from the bill so had to pay for them even though no one touched them. This is our second visit here and the first visit my friend found another hair in their drink, thought we would give it a second chance but will not be coming back here

Came here Sunday afternoon sat outside, food was awfull had to complain , fair to the staff they cancelled out the price for one meal, no questions asked. .Ordered a cocktail had to send that back it tasted like a chemical. Would never visit here again everyone was complaining, food was so bland, and the presentation made one feel a bit sick to be honest.

In a byway replete with dining choices, we were very pleased with this one. Early evening it wasn’t full so no delay in getting a table. From the broad menu, what we had was very tasty, accompanied by cool draught Tiger Beer. Staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. So overall deserving of a good rating.

This was my second time here and not the last! The food was gorgeous and arrived within minutes. Service was speedy, Maya was our waitress and was charming and attentive. The bbq bao and pot stickers were just lovely. would definitely recommend.

Food was quite terrible and bland. We had the Ramen with duck + fried noodles with roasted duck. We also had spring rolls. The duck was dry on both portions and there wasn’t really that much flavour. The noodles were not even hot. We had to ask for soy sauce and chili oil just to give it something. The spring rolls barely had any filling and arrived after the mains. The only + was that the staff was nice.

Just wow, love coming here. The food, vibe and staff are just amazing. Love the way we can turn up and then go for a drink while the team sort a table. We had Maya as our server and she was so lovely, really polite, friendly and just really happy. Took our order within minutes and came back to check we were happy with everything. Lovely restaurant, one of my favourites on Lark Lane

We come here a lot, Freya served us and was really friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic as always, pot stickers are a particular highlight.

My friend and I went out for lunch on a sunny 🌞 Saturday afternoon on Lark Lane, we decided to try Yum Cha as we both haven't eaten at this eatery before. Upon entering, we were able to find a table ,as the place wasn't that busy. The waiting staff was aware we had sat down, and despite this, it took over 15 minutes before anyone came over to ask if we wanted to order food or drinks. There were at least 3 waiters on duty who just seemed to be milling about or talking amongst themselves. The waiter finally approached our table and took our orders. Regarding the food; it was extremely disappointing. We ordered noodles 🍜 soup with duck and wonton and bbq ribs. The noodle soup was flavourless. The broth was so watery and bland that I had to ask the waiter to bring over soy sauce and chilli sauce to try and put some life in the soup. Even with this, it was still disappointing. I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering noodle soup from this restaurant. The ribs were disappointing, too. The bbq sauce was bland, and there wasn't much meat on the bone. At no point during our meal did any member of staff come over and ask us if we enjoyed the meal or if we needed anything. The service was so poor. We order pudding 🍮. A Japanese cheesecake, even the pudding, was bland tasteless and not worth the money. I don't like giving an eatery poor review, but I have no option as it was so bad. This is just my personal opinion and experience dining 🍽 at Yum Cha. Other folk might have enjoyed it. I'll not go back, and I wouldn't recommend anyone visiting.

Avoid at all costs. This was literally the worst food I have ever had in my entire life. I've been to quite a lot of restaurants with bad food, but this one takes the cake. The food isn't even fresh. Why bother opening a restaurant if the only thing you serve is one step away from being rotten? The service is okay, but I feel sorry for the people who have to work at this restaurant. Why is there a painting of a woman in a kimono on the wall of a dim sum restaurant? Did you open this restaurant to harm people? If you want to get sick, please feel free to visit this place.

Food tasted stale, like it's been put in the freezer, defrosted, frozen again and then defrosted. The food arrived on the table, genuinely, within minutes of ordering, definitely not enough time to make any half decent food. I think a McDonald's burger would take more time than this. The BBQ steamed buns had some weird, sickly kind of sweet flavour - and for some bizarre reason, had sweetcorn...? Crunchy vegetables do not belong in baozi. The best thing I had here was the diet coke. If you want actual Chinese food, avoid this place at all costs. Go to Happy Brother Canteen on London Road or Mr Zhangs Myrtle Street instead.

My daughter and her family live off of Lark Lane. My wife and I have dined with her at many places. Since this was new to me, my daughter took us here. It is vegan friendly, but it meets meat desires. My wife and I shared a steamed, spicy wonton dish called Shengjian Bao as an appetizer. It was a mixture of minced pork and prawn with ginger. I ordered a spicy chicken Char Siu dish for my main dish while my wife opted for a Kung Pao chicken dish. Our granddaughter ate most of an adult portion noodle dish. My daughter had the vegan Ramen dish with tofu whe her husband went with the Thai basil tofu. My only complaint wod be the lighting as it is very neon pink. Otherwise, this is a nice, new change on the lane.

The food was superb. We had such a variety between 7 of us, each and every item we ordered from the menu was great. The dim sum options are top tier and the service was great. Lovely vibe and great atmosphere. Staff are welcoming and friendly throughout. Food comes out almost as soon as it's ordered, as and when it is ready.

It used to be the best Chinese around but the food has gone downhill badly, dont know if they've changed the chef or something?

Went here on a Saturday night, six of us in total. Place is OK and staff attentive. Food arrived ridiculously quickly with mains arriving before starters. I ordered spring rolls which were about six inches long and thin with virtually no filling. Main was chicken katsu curry and rice, the chicken was stringy and tough, the curry was OK. Overall food was very poor. The food in Spoons is better than this place so I'd save some money and go there!

Been here twice before and was excellent. Tasty well seasoned food and fast service. Tonight the food was bland beyond belief and quite greasy. Service was non existant having to call staff over several times for forgotten things, drinks etc. Disappointing meal I'm hoping is just a one off. Won't be rushing to come back.

Nice restaurant, prices are decent, the value for money is really good. The food options are okay and the flavours are good, just need to have more spice, (but probably catering for the British palette). Would definitely recommend but don't expect to be wowed.
