Absolutely loved it here. Food was amazing. Value for money. Staff so attentive and friendly. Couldn't ask for more. Will 100% be going again and have recommended some friends to go which they will be booking next week. Defo go here for a nice chilled relaxing evening.

This review is not just about the venue, the food, the service and the price. The venue is fantastic- a giant kata tipi tent with lovely lighting, a firepit, infra red heaters , soft background music and plenty of space. We went there to celebrate a birthday and as it was a wonderful warm sunny evening the sides were up. All great in these pandemic times. One suggestion- more comfortable chairs please. It is part of the wider development of the Van Dyk Hotel. Twenty or more years ago the place was one you would not return to- not the case now. The owners should be proud of the large amount of money that they have invested to improve it. Good parking, nice grounds and work still continuing. There are little niggles- let's see a work of art as the centrepiece of the fountain rather than a paving slab cut with an angle grinder. And a hard surface path from the car park to the Yule Lodge. Just over the road is a development of houses costing well over £600k each. All this shows how much the area is changing and we welcome that. I had a very tasty rib eye steak for my main course and a delicious dessert. Top marks. The service was exemplary- friendly and efficient. The price was somewhat expensive, reminding me of another birthday meal in Geneva a few years back. That leads me on to say that given all this the staff should share in the wealth being created. It's not good enough to pay the minimum wage. McDonald's pay more. Lidl pay more. So should Wildes Van Dyk. Look after your most important asset- your staff. We recommend and will return.

My friends and I went to the new Yule Lodge at Van Dyk - only to leave very disappointed! We tried to order cocktails, to be told we couldn’t order them by our server, and then saw other tables having them, the waitress said she’d made a mistake. The main course was wrong for my friend with allergies, after having to have the dish changed three times, we had all finished our food and she was left to eat alone. By the time she had waited for her meal and finished it, our 1 hour 45 time slot was up and we couldn’t order the desserts we wanted. When our bill was brought to us, we were charged with other people’s drinks added on, this had to be re-printed twice after the staff hadn’t listened to the drinks we said we hadn’t had. The manager came over to our table and explained to us that the staff were new and apologized. When you are paying these sort of prices, and the standard of excellence that Van Dyk advertises, we were hugely disappointed with our experience and expect staff to be fully trained before starting so that these kind of things don’t happen. My friend could have been seriously harmed with the food that came out that she was allergic to and said so when initially ordering. I’m just making others aware as to our experience to make sure that Van Dyk’s listen to what people are ordering. I have tried to write a review on their Facebook page, and my comment has since been removed by Van Dyk, only the ‘sparkling and glorifying’ comments are being left for others to see and not the honest reviews. Not good.

Popped in for lunch. It was half term and the whole site was busy. Even at 12pm the restaurant was struggling to find tables. They accommodated us after a short wait. Ordered drinks which came out swiftly and once the order was taken dough balls soon followed. Mains came out quickly and were hot and delicious. Not mine but I had a salad so that’s great! Tuna nicoise was packed with ingredients and very filling. Puddings also delicious and a great treat. Louis was a great host, very charming and funny. Friendly staff all round and a great welcome

Having frequented several drinking joints on my time on this earth I have never witnessed the shear pleasure of Katie the barmaid. Her knowedge of drinks, and pleasant conversation was refreshingly pleasurably. I will certainly be back soon to see her lovely smile! Keep up the good work! A credit to the establishment

Came to Bolsover for the day on my wife's birthday to have a pub lunch and to visit the castle. Having read the positive reviews we went straight to the Blue Bell. Walking into the beer garden at about 11.50 we saw that the view on a good day would be spectacular. Unfortunately the weather was bad so in order to eat inside we went to the door marked ‘Entrance’ which was locked. I checked on line and saw the opening time was 12 am (??) so we waited. A few minutes after 12 the back door opened and we entered only to be told there was no food (no reason given). Although there was a sign at the bar, a notice outside would have saved time being wasted. Fortunately there are other places to eat so we went elsewhere.
