The food was disgusting hair in my food and was cold and when I asked staff to get me fresh food they said no because they made it fresh which was a lie

Gold standard absolutely gorgeous food cannot be beaten - perfect for the whole family to enjoy for any occasion. Worth the journey from Wirral and will definitely repeat.

Our first visit and will certainly be back very soon! The food is simply amazing. Lamb with Leeks especially good. Service very friendly and we were to made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed dinner at this very friendly restaurant. The ribs were good and my son loved his crab and sweetcorn soup. They had run out of chicken, but during these covid times that could be easily forgiven. The crispy chilli beef and crispy lamb were soooo yummy. The service was very friendly - thanks for a lovely evening!

We had a wonderful trip down memory lane and called into the Yuet Ben for tea on Saturday. The food was fabulous, the staff are so nice and accommodating. All Covid Restrictions in place , hand sanitizers and wide spaced tables . Please support this fabulous restaurant, you won’t be disappointed!!

The vegetarian menu is great. Shredded tofu and hoisin sauce is recommended. As is the crispy rice and tomato sauce. Never seen it in any other restaurant before.. delicious.

Las tostadas de gambas parecían tener una pasta sabrosa debajo de las semillas, pero estaban demasiado fritas, casi quemadas. El servicio fue amable y cálido, gente realmente encantadora luchando en un momento difícil. Les deseo lo mejor y espero que esta honestidad de las reseñas les ayude a mejorar su juego para sobrevivir.

?? Así que la semana pasada decidimos ir a Liverpool por un chino. Reservamos Yuet Ben en Upper Duke Street. ¡Todo lo que puedo decir es que la comida era magnífica y ciertamente un corte por encima de su restaurante chino promedio! ?????? Comenzamos con Spring Rolls y Sesame Prawn Toast, seguido de Crispy Duck. Luego vinieron las costillas, un poco desordenadas ya que estaban cocinando un nuevo lote, ¡pero vale la pena esperar! Estaban simplemente deliciosos, tiernos y sabrosos. ¿Para nuestros platos principales teníamos pechuga de cordero crujiente? y Hot and Spicy Lamb, ¡ambos eran simplemente hermosos! Fueron acompañados de arroz frito con huevo y Chow Mein. El propietario Terry amablemente nos trajo una copa de vino de postre Muscat para completar nuestra comida. Recomiendo encarecidamente Yuet Ben por su comida de excelente calidad.

Used to come here frequently years ago but since moving away this was the first visit for about 11 years. I must say it was as good as I remember. The service was excellent and so friendly. The food was amazing and the bill for three people was so reasonable. If you want excellent food and service then look no further.

As we were staying near Chinatown it made sense to go to a Chinese restaurant one night. This place seemed to have more customers than all the other places put together so seemed the best bet.My fiancee was delighted to have chicken in yellow bean sauce as apparently you can't get it too many places these days, while the beef sate was also good. Service was a bit slow but I think that was because so many people came at once (and they seemed a bit short staffed).If you're looking for a meal in Chinatown this is where I'd go.

I love coming here as the do a really lovely vegan banquet. It is not expensive and the service is great.

Do not visit Liverpool without coming to this restaurant. Terry and team are amazing and cannot do more to make you welcome. Great fresh cooked food, tasty and well presented. This restaurant should have Michelin stars!

The meal and service was excellent. I ordered the shredded beef and my wife ordered the chicken in black bean sauce, both with egg fried rice and prawn crackers. Very light and tasty and clearly made with fine fresh ingredients. Highly recommended.

Lots of good looking restaurants in China town in Liverpool. Went for this place. Delighted with out choice for loads of reasons. Amazing welcome, smashing waitress from Liverpool who chatted with us about attending the match. Really felt she went the extra mile for us. Food was Devine. Spoke to Terry (the owner) and he made us feel like a regular. My son went for the speciality sweet and sour cherry chicken and he was delighted- I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Toilets immaculate. It is located directly opposite the stunning Chinese arch which we had some photographs taken. Thank you everyone and your chao chao dog is absolutely gorgeous- a real princess!

I have visited this restaurant a few times over the years, with my friend and nevery had a bad meal yet. I am vegetarian, going vegan, and gluten free as well. One of the things I love most about this restaurant is the lovely, friendly staff who always greet me with a warm welcome and go that extra mile to accommodate my special dietary requirements, very often adapting dishes on the menue to make them suitable for me. Nothing is too much trouble and I can trust the recommendations as they will spend time ascertaining what foods you like and basing their recommendation on the information you give them. A small, established family business, the quality of the food and the service is excellent. I believe this restaurant provides outstanding value for money.

The food is outstanding. Have never been disappointed. The actual restaurant can be quite noisy on Saturday nights because it gets so busy and sometimes groups can be loud. Service is good. Best Chinese food in the city for me.

The Tuet Ben is the oldest and best Chinese restaurant in Liverpool. Ideally placed and walkable from the town centre

It's several years since we visited this long established Chinese restaurant. The food remains a culinary delight and together wityh great service and a friednly environment you just can't go wrong. The hot and sour soup is probably one of the best you will taste while my wife said her prawn toasts were just about perfect. She said the same about her prawns and cashew nuts while I tried the chicken in crispy rice in tomato sauce which was lovely and would highly recommend.All in all It was a lovely meal with no complaints.

Have not eaten here for about 30 years so it was nice to go back with friends mid week in September.

We visited because this restaurant because it featured in an episode of The Hairy Bikers TV show. The guys were blown away with the food served here and so were we. It's situated right outside the gate of Chinatown and this makes it a fantastic location to enjoy the best Chinese meal you will ever have the pleasure to eat. Nothing was too much trouble for Theresa and Terry and we can't wait to visit again the next time when we are in Liverpool.

5 of us visited here midweek to round off a gentlemens afternoon touring some of the old pubs in Liverpool. We chose the Yuet Ben because of its long standing reputation and looked forward to an excellent meal. We decided to go for the £20 banquet. I have to say the service was friendly but slow and the food was rather bland and expensive for what it was. The ribs were dry with no sauce, the cispy duck was also fairly dry and there wasnt much of it. The mixed parcels and chop suey rolls were poor and lacked any flavour or quality. The main courses were a little better, particularly the beef in blackbean and the fried rice and noodles were excellent.

Nice inside-used to visit many times years ago however food nothing special-used to be the best especially the hot and sour soup and the ribs in bbq sauce-no sauce this time!

Went for a meal with four other people. Even though we hadn’t booked they were happy to accommodate us. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was served at a welcomed leisurely pace. The menu was great and catered for the vegetarian amongst us. The food was fantastic and the wine was good. Highly recommend this restaurant

I've been past this places more times than I could remember and even seen it on TV but never decided to go in until recently. My wife and I were out and she fancied a Chinese so we decided to give Yuet Ben a go.

Food very nice. Service excellent. Staff very friendly. Would go again. Only opens between 5 and 10pm. So we have never been before. We had won ton soup, ribs and crispy duck. Followed by vermicelli prawn cashew nuts and chilli and garlic prawns. It was really nice. Everything was hot.

We first visited Yuet Ben when it opened in 1968. At that time, I lived just across the road from its original premises in Great George's Street. We-parents, children and grand children- have eaten there on a very regular basis ever since and so have a perspective of over 50 years. The food at Yuet Ben is both stunning and unique. The recent modernisation of the restaurant has created teething problems which have been exacerbated by the departure of long serving members of staff with the result that Terry has had to undertake far more of the cooking than he previously had to do. At times, this can result in long delays, if he suddenly has to respond to the demands of large numbers of guests who all arrive at the same time. We found this so last night, when 9 of us, including 4 people aged below 6, arrived , closely followed by two large parties of diners; but, by saying that we were happy to wait until Terry could concentrate on our order, we found every dish just as good as it had ever been-and we told him so.We spent 2 very happy hours there , starting at 5.30 and were particularly impressed by how well the two ladies waiting at table managed everything with personal support from Terry whenever he could. Well done !

It's been a few years since I've last visited yuet bens and what a let down.

We've been trying to get to the Yuet Ben for months now since its refurbishment as we've been coming to this place for over 40 years but sadly don't live that local to visit often. It's been beautifully refurbished and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Sadly we had to leave after taking a phone call to say that one of our dogs needed medical attention and was causing concern to our minder. The Yuet Ben team quickly responded and our order was promptly packed as a takaway which we went on to enjoy at home, with dog who is also now ok. The food was just as fantastic as we remember it, plentiful and we look forward to coming back for a full sit down meal!

On the 16th March my wife and I took the family to the Yuet Ben to celebrate my wife's 80th birthday, we were made very welcome, the staff were attentive without being overly so, the food was exceptional with ribs to die for. Thank you Terry and Teresa for making the evening memorably.

After bisiting her and havinga poor meal I looked at the food Hygiene Standards Rating and found it to be 1 out of 5! Kind of wished I'd never looked but probably not surprising that the state of the kitchens resulted in poor food.

Went for valentines night with my partner the food was outstanding and the service was 5 star , would recommend the dry ribs , duck , sweet sour chicken , we where not rush and the whole restaurant had a lovely atmosphere x

We have been regulars at this restaurant for years. Used to love the food and chatting to Terry. They’ve now had a refurb and new staff, who were pleasant, although they seemed in-experienced. The food was poor, nowhere near as good as it has been in the past. Will be going elsewhere in the future. A real shame.

I booked this restaurant for a group of 17. Having read recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive but we had a satisfactory meal there last year. Unfortunately those recent poor reviews turned out to be accurate. Most of the group were unhappy with the quality of their meals. After everyone else had been served I was advised that there was no lamb left and was asked to choose something else from the menu. I declined telling them it was too late. It was 9.30 and we had booked for 7.45 and placed orders around 8.00. Finally they couldn't get the bill right. All in all it was a disaster. Service, food and attitude of the staff all leave a lot to be desired.

Si estás buscando el mejor restaurante chino en Liverpool. . . ¡no busque más! Recientemente reformado y con mejor aspecto que nunca. Una cálida bienvenida y deliciosa comida. Recomiendo encarecidamente el pato crujiente, las costillas secas y la carne picada de chili y las zanahorias. A veces el servicio es un poco lento, pero la comida vale la pena ser paciente.

We have just left the restaurant having had a very poor experience .... we were told service would be slow due to us ordering tofu ( on the menu) but an hour and forty five minutes later our dishes had not yet been cooked. The soup order was wrong which delayed the meal and it went downhill from then. The waiting staff were very pleasant and friendly although the maitre d was sharp and unapologetic . Clearly major issues in the kitchen which hopefully will be resolved and the restaurant will be restored to it’s former glory.

Sadly this Resturant is not what it used to be since our last visit. I went with a group of my friends 11 in all and they just could not cope with such a large number of dinners in one go. The restaurant was not that busy but it took them 45 minutes before they came to take our order. When we did order, our food arrived spasmodically to such a extent one person had finished the meal before any of the other group even got their food. One meal had to be sent back has it came out cold. The staff were polite and tried to do their best but it was very poor service and the food was not that great. Would not recommend this establishment.

We have been coming here for decades, when our children were just stars in the sky and with them in their 20s and 30s. Birthday meal - oh, dear. The food was wonderful - so tasty. But you go for the ambience also. Noisy, babies screaming, gang of eight footy supporters in. Not that they should be excluded but sadly the place has just been redecorated - no soft furnishings to soak up the echoing sounds so we ate our meal in bad grace. The service was particularly slow, so we never felt full as the gaps between courses were very large. Also when asking for desert, we were told that there was a long wait due to the number of main courses they had to produce. After around 45 years of visits I do not think I shall be returning unless they improve their service to as it was, get quicker with delivery of courses as it was, and find some noise reduction so you can hear each other speak

We had been invited to a family party on opening night of the Yuet after it's recent make over and the place looks brilliant. The new lighting and open plan makes it feel and look very different, its light and vibrant and it the decor is very nice indeed the food was fantastic as usual as was the service and new staff were very polite and attentive, the only gripe was that the wife was not keen on the shared toilets i know this is the new thing but we were not keen as were many of the customers the lady's mostly but i'm sure terry and his lovely wife will soon rectify this, take nothing away from the new look its clean vibrant and finished to a high standard we look forward to returning as always

Visited this restaurant one evening - after reading the reviews - when visiting Liverpool to view the Terracotta Warriors exhibition. Premises are situated across the road from Chinatown facing the Chinese Arch and although not salubrious by any means the welcome and hospitality of the owners more than make up for this shortcoming. Seated at the window and drinks order taken by a friendly young chap.Food order then taken by the owners wife who was very pleasant and willing to take the time to talk with us and to make us feel like honoured guests. Duck and Pancakes for starter were delicious, moist meat with crispy skin and the pancakes light. King prawns in ginger and chilli with egg fried rice was so tasty. Had the set menu for £15, the ribs were tasty and there were plenty, the main course option was good. We called in with limited time and asked could we have the meal served and be out within 40 mins.. With a jovial and pleasant manner the staff agreed and we had the meal and set out with 5 mins to spare which the chef cheerfully reminded us, whilst I don't advocate going for a meal on the speed that you can eat and run, in our circumstances both the waiter and the chef were helpful and did not take our request as an affront, so would return.

Pobre en general buena sopa el resto no era fresco y nos decepcionó ya que habiendo visitado antes teníamos buenos recuerdos. Gran servicio y buen ambiente - el restaurante es rústico (básico) y que no nos importó. Fue una lástima que la comida no era de buena calidad.

This family run restaurant is probably one of the oldest international restaurants in England and has been here for almost 40 years.

The duck and ribs were burnt, dry and tough! The rice and chow mien were warmed up! A very expensive , very poor meal with poor service. Such a shame!

And this didn’t disappoint. Chose the £20 meal. Amazing duck and pancakes. Then ribs with 2 different spring rolls. Then beef / pork / chicken mains. With fried rice. All cooked perfectly. And a glass of tiger to wash it down.

The best Chinees restaurant in town (Liverpool). Ask Terry for a nice dinner with matching wines, tell him not to hurry with the courses and you will have a very good evening. This restaurant has an history in quality for about 50 years!

I visited this restaurant last night and we were lucky to walk in and grab a table straight away. We have tried several times before and it has always been too busy.

Came here with two other friends last weekend. Arrived to a busy restaurant but seated quickly, glad we booked in advance though. Food was gorgeous and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Every member of staff served with a smile and could not do enough for us. Have to give a special mention to Theresa, what a lovely lady! Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

The atmosphere and service were great. The king prawn in chili sauce was tasty, but the breading on the prawn was not as crunchy as I was expecting.

We had previously checked on TA and this seemed to be highly rated, We were not disappointed, We had a banquet for 4 - £25 per head and it was absolutely spot on. Starters of delicious cold fish which is a first for me, followed by mixed starters of pancake rolls, spare ribs and mixed veg samosa type thingys. Crispy duck which was spot on and then Main courses of SS Pork, Rice, Lamb and Vegetable plus Noodles and finally beef in Oyster sauce. Desert followed of Toffee Apple and again spot on. Highly recommended

Table for four on a Thursday night, th place was full which is always a good sign. Traditional food with efficient and friendly service.

Used to always like the restaurant but tonight seemed to have lost its edge slow service food Luke warm and fir what it was overpriced

This place is an old favourite,have been coming for years, lovely food and very nice workers, the crispy duck is the best.

Restaurant chinois assez standard, pas un grand choix de plats à mon avis, et le canard que j'ai eu la dernière fois n'était pas fou. L'avantage du restaurant et qu'il y a un minimum de choix pour les plats végétariens, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas pour les restaurants chinois.

Siempre hemos querido visitar la Yuet Ben durante muchos años, pero como el lugar solo abre de 5. 00 p. m. la mayoría de las noches, normalmente no en esa parte de Liverpool, época en la cual.

Circumstances were such that visited this place totally unplanned at 9pm on a Saturday. Needless to say it was full but several tables were finishing up so we were ushered towards the bar and offered a drink while waiting. Not exactly a bar to wait at more of a holding area, no chairs so stood awkwardly with a beer in hand and a glass of wine for my wife. Three staff waiting on for the entire restaurant. A table came free and we were taken to it. We ordered dry ribs and prawn toast and for main satay pork and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. Food came in reasonable time and on the whole was good but nothing exceptional. Quite a pleasant evening in an average place with average food. The staff were very nice and made the visit.

We visited this great little restaurant on Sunday afternoon after a day out. We were really impressed by the friendly nature of the staff and how clean this place was. The food was excellent and highly recommend the spring rolls!

First time here and absolutely fabulous. This is how Chinese restaurants should be. Yuet Ben's dry ribs are really nice. We followed this with sweet and sour cherry chicken, beef satay and king prawn with spring onion and ginger and egg fried rice. Delicious! Great service as well

I remember going her for my 8th Birthday and eating toffee apples.40 years on a little further up the street and across the road than before, but it's still in the family, the son in law of the original owner, the food is still fabulous. Everything we ordered was the best Chinese we have had in a long time. Will certainly go back now we live nearer again.

Although not quite in the Chinese Quarter, it's just across the road from the Chinese Arch, it is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city of Chinese Restaurants. Good food and excellent service.

We have visited the Yuet Ben for many years and my late father in law started eating there 40 years ago. It is fantastic and Terry and his wife are wonderful. The food has always been superb and I hope they will be able to continue for many years as this is the best Chinese restaurant in Liverpool.

Excellent food, fantastic service, the owners and staff go out of their way to make you welcome, I would recommend this cosy Chinese restaurant to everyone.
