Lovely food and quick service. The small cod and chips had plenty in and was reasonable at £7 with a side dish and drink.

first time in 45 years i have had to actually chew a battered cod and what fish was inside must of perished. no way i would of classed it as a large fish. first time i have ever felt the need to write a review from a chippy.

Had a fish here along with my brother. We were doing a taste test we always went to the Almighty cod across the road because that’s where me dad used to go But we came to Youngs and the one on same side as young’s we had 3 fish in succession Youngs topped the lot on the day.

I visited here on Tuesday of this week and the usual queue was at the shop, after standing for around fifteen minutes and the queue not moving very far, I was about to leave and then the penny dropped that were two places to pay at the counter. The long queue was for customers paying by credit card and there was no queue at all for people paying in cash. I walked past the entire queue and was served immediately after I declared I was paying by cash as I usually always do. CASH IS KING and always will be in my opinion. I ordered the large fish chips and mushy peas with a free drink, tea, coffee or bottle of water for only £8.40. A large piece of fresh cod on top of ample chips with a carton of mushy peas in the corner was my reward. I wandered across the road and found an empty seat and ate my glorious lunch in the sunshine with a slight cold breeze, they were delicious and very cheap compared to my home location of Bishop Auckland.

Really poor service, ran by children, my daughter waited for an hour while they all stood round and talked about what there doing this weekend, food was rubbish, small portions, not worth the wait, had it not been for the other really long cues we would never have chosen this poor establishment, if I was you I wouldn't bother

Lovely food service was really slow service the poor young blonde lassw was however non stop an really apologetic while 3 other staff seemed more interested in been in the back room ….(p.s the reflection allows us to see you texting and messing around

We had fish, chips and mushy peas from here for the first time yesterday. Fish was excellent as were the chips the mushy peas however were outstanding, I will be ordering double next time. Great prices and great produce, keep it up

The sausage and chips we had were not too bad. If I'm honest we only went here because the queue at almighty cod was too long for us to wait. The staff were lovely and the service spot on. What I don't understand is why different chip shops food taste so different. I would go back again

Everything was cooked freshly to order. Nothing was greasy - everything that should've been crispy was crispy! More than that, it was delicious, especially the fish & the battered chip barm!! 👌

Absolutely love this place it is my favourite! I sometimes travel from Gateshead just for the food here. The only tiny bit of criticism I have is when it's busy it's difficult to know where to stand and queue. Portion was a little less this time and prices have gone up, but this has happened everywhere so nothing to complain about really as the food still tasted absolutely gorgeous.

Absolutely gorgeous fish and chips plus very very well priced. £8.50 for a large fish supper with a side AND tea, coffee or water!! I got a small one and was kicking myself for not getting a large one cos it was soooo tasty.

It used to be excellent but now it's rubbish. The mushy peas were hard and watery, the fish had an aftertaste and the batter was soggy. We won't be going back

Went to this place on my dinner break, got x2 “large” cod and chips. The lass behind the counter was the most miserable person I’ve had to hand over money to, and the cod was tiny ( about the size of an iPhone 13) when I asked about it, she just shrugged her shoulders. Disgusting service. They should take a leaf out of Coleman’s fish and chip shop in South Shields, that’s a proper large cod and chips!! I feel conned!!!

Freshly cooked and good value small fish and chips

Waited 40mins ....bearing in mind the queue was not that long i was actually at the door step!..the portions are kid size the fish bites looked line tail ends .are these new owners ? I was not the only one complaining about the wait time .used these for years .Well not now .

Got fish and chip small special box it was lovely and just the right size. Great value for money. Was recommended to try from another couple visiting for the day .

Very disappointed to be honest. The chips were greasy, soggy and cold. The 'large' fish was at best a medium, dry and more batter than fish. The "large' fish and chip supper certainly wasn't worth nearly £8. The gravy tasted nice!

As always prompt service with a smile. Smaller portions available and plenty of choices. Staff is always busy if not with service then with cleaning. Hard working to say the least. Food just right, not greasy, fish coated in the lightest of batters. Chips just right with the ultimate fish shop taste. Well done all, I will be back and back and back 😀 again.

We travel regularly almost 30 miles for what used to be lovely and not over priced but our last visit was very disapointing...fish very thin with thin soggy batter, very few chips, mushy peas no longer lovely (change of recipe?). The fish used to be thick with the most lovely thick bubbly batter, plenty of chips and the best mushy peas. The girl that served us was next to useless...forgot to give us the breadbuns and when asked did we want salt and vinegar we said no thanks...she still put it on!

Where do i start.. waited 10mins in a queue of just three people.. when i was served it was some sultry, lip curling girl in her late teens...change slammed on the counter...i think you know the score..Anyway had to wait another 15mins for just the two boxes of chips i ordered. When they eventually came they appeared to have been fried twice and in all honesty they were 'poor'.Three people in a queue and we still waited 25mins isnt really on. Heard some great things about Youngs prior to visiting...im guessing some folk are easily pleased....needless to say we wont be going back and i have also made comment on my blog.

Love this chippy tried them all nice crisp batter on fish chips perfect taste amazing got a free drink great service. Always hot will be back without a doubt my favourite.

Nice food but the staff need to learn how to smile. A nice smile and a bit of friendliness a warm welcome would go along way.

Amazing fish and chips. Long queue but worth. It's not expensive, wide range of food, fast and friendly service. Located at the front with amazing views to the beach. Take away only. Card and cash payment accepted. Recommended.

Not suitable for vegetarians as in common with the other chippies on this street the chips are all cooked in beef dripping. Very disappointed and unable to eat anything.

Got two large cod today. Very disappointed, the fish was dry, shrivelled and cold.

Stood in queue for 30min,asked for large fish twice with chips, got fish& chips that were not hot, also not large peas were cold, will not go back.

We usually get our fish and chips from the other takeaways in Seaton, but tonight on recommendation, we gave Youngs a try and they were absolutely delicious. Had the the small portion and it was such value for money. This is how fish and chips should be made, we won't be going anywhere else from now on!

Ok food if you want to wait a hour on busy periods Not a very fast workforce cheap tho if don't mind waiting

Wow. What a amazing place for quick tasty food, thought I'd try the tiktok chip butty. Omg it was amazing definitely worth any que which is expected for the best fish and chippy in seaton. The servers were so welcoming and polite and followed all the guidelines more shops should be like this one.

Met up with friends and family all went to another chip opposite; myself and son decided to try Young’s. Never again, most vile women served me- slow service, I asked for large fish was told “ No” I should of left and asked for a refund. Three customers at adjacent till were served in the time I was dealt with. Found her to have no manners, most obnoxious server I have encountered. Finally a long wait, took the food- ordered large fish & chips- she made the tea which was cold by the time the food was made. Pattie was unable to eat was raw potato. Our friends had been served and eaten their food by the time I finally got our tea. I was disgusted my friends told me to return the raw potatoe and mention to the manager how poor the service and food was. Lady was lovely and apologetic about the staff member and accepted full responsibility. Tea was ruined and to be fair I would avoid that server clearly has upset many customers. When we went to get the children an ice cream she was known by other customers and their reputation is not one to be recommended. Ice cream shop said they wouldn’t eat there and other locals said it was the worse chip shop and bar customer service. Sorry felt compelled to report and review my experience I was furious. They had a large queue outside and all left and walked across to the almighty cod because they were badly organised.

I love this fish shop and So dose My family It's the only one We ever go to.I thought I had been over charged I was wrong Just wanted to put it right .However as I said in My post and am saying nowI will still be going back can't wait.P.s the prices had changed and I did not check. I was in your shop today, and was very disappointed that customers not wearing face masks were being served by your staff. There are numerous signs in your shop stating that face masks should be worn. Why are your staff not enforcing the rules. Is it any wonder that the virus is spreading. Businesses like yours will be the first to complain when you are struggling to survive during the lock down.

Best Chips in Seaton! Very efficient service too so you don't have to queue for ages. Lovely friendly staff and spotlessly clean. Brilliant values for money and so tasty.

My friend and I visited here Thursday 31st July. I had Cod & Chips and my friend had Fish cake & Chips. Really lovely chips and a very good fish. Would certainly recommend.

Had a takeaway at this traditional fish and chip shop . It was delicious, so fresh and with friendly service and an excellent price .

Absolutely vile customer service by the two young girls in the shop, both swearing while customers in the shop and around children. There attitude was not welcoming and was quite frankly rude. One girl was worse than the other, the que was out the door and she refused to serve anybody, complaining how confused she was she just could not be bothered. The food was really nice but not worth the customer service vile!

We visited for fish and chips whilst at Seaton Carew and found the fish shop to be very average. Staff seemed disinterested in customers and didn’t say anything for a while even though we were stood right in front of them. The price was okay but next time we will try another shop.

Popped into Young’s after a long walk along the prom. Friendly, helpful efficient staff and wonderful fish and chips. Loved the tasty crisp batter and light and golden chips. The box special is very good value, with mushy peas and free tea, coffee or water. We will definitely come back.

What a fantastic meal a box of large freshly cooked cod ,chunky chips, mushy peas and a coffee or tea for £5.90 or a smaller one for£3.90 really tasty too. Back to normal British food yummy.and they allow dogs in too

I went when it was a busy day and was only two staff at the front and both seemed new asked for gravy and chips she put one tiny bit off gravy on for me to ask her to put more on then she puts another tiny bit on again , for what I got what a crap shop defo be going the other two next to this instead of this one

Travelled with friends on a day out and fancied fish and chips and they where spot on and great value for money fish was cooked to perfection best I have had for a very long time will deffo go again if in the area 5 star for me

Always come to Hartlepool just for Youngs, all the way from Leeds. Well worth the travel as the food is absolutely amazing, I always get the small box special (cod,chips, mushy peas AND a FREE tea, coffee or water) for only £3.50 and if that wasn't good enough the staff are always so polite and willing to go the extra mile so that my stay here is more than comfortable for me. This place deserves way more than a 5 star rating!

If fish and chips is what you desire, then this place is thoroughly recommended by our family. Good batter, fish cooked to order and always fresh, decent portions, good mushy peas. Amazing value. Do try it. And there are a couple of tabls to eat inside should you wish.

Called in today after a bracing walk along the Seafront. We both had a boxed fish and chip meal with a pot of proper mushy peas and a bottle of water, but you can have a choice of tea etc.all for £3.50 each! The staff are polite and friendly and the shop is spotless. We always come here and are never disappointed. Have tried the other establishments but prefer this one. The portions are just right and the quality is excellent. The chips are good, the fish is fresh and white and the batter is crisp and delicious. There is a great choice on the menu and the prices are good. They do gluten-free too.

Great fish and chips are guaranteed here. Never been let down and always use Young’s although there are other fish shops in the area. By miles they are the best value. Small Fish and chips, carton of mushy peas and a lovely cup of tea, £3.50. To tell you the truth my only criticism would be that is too cheap. All came in cartons, fork, tea in thermal cups, all in a carrier bag. I think they are robbing themselves and £4 would be more realistic and still excellent value..! CHEERS Young’s...!! A really good stop for lunch. Really nice cod and haddock. It sells fish that you wont get in fish and chip shops like plaice and lemon sole and scampi.

I call here everytime we come to Seaton.You can get a small fish,chips mushy peas and tea or water for £3.50.The portion size is really good fish is tasty chips aren't the best few scrappy bits but I still come back and Staff are friendly.Definitely worth a visit.

Called at Young’s for Fish & Chips after a walk and we’re not disappointed. The cod & chips box specials were excellent value for money and tasted delicious. The lady who served us was friendly and despite the queue it went down very quickly.

While not my favourite in all of Seaton, go further along the road towards town for the best, this is the best out of the 3 together along the Front. The others are just more popular due to reputation but have miserable staff who r really slow serving, foods not great and sometimes overcharge. Here the foods always nice and friendly staff too.
