Food was cold and the pizza bread was not toasted must just took it out of the packet, would not order agin

first time ordering in a long time and I am not disappointed. Honestly amazing customer service and the quality of food speaks for itself. Parmo was perfect and fresh, the chips are as amazing as always and the chicken burger was well received. ordered the samosas just to give them a go and they are home made by the looks of it and are better than most Indian takeaways! will be ordering again 😁

Order was made in January 2024 I'm disappointed to be writing this as I have used York road fisheries for many years. It had been a while since our last visit however it is clear it has gone downhill massively since then. We ordered a mixture of new items and old trusted favourites and our son's had kids meals which for years previous had been good value for money. The chips looked rotten and didn't taste any better. They had a rubbery texture and were gritty. The kids sausage had always been a full-size sausage cut in half but this time both only had half a sausage each. My husband's pizza was swimming in grease and tasteless and my chicken parmo was not edible. It was undercooked and cold in the middle but the topping was again swimming in grease. The only decent item we ordered was the kabab which was very tasty. To top it all off, I checked online looking to see if others had a similar problem to find it has a star food hygiene rating meaning it needs major improvement. This place once had queues out the door yet now you never see anyone inside. I hope he owners manage to get things sorted so it can be an amazing chop shop again.

Again lovely food, again I will say if the food is early or late the quality and taste are first class. Yet again the spring rolls whyo have to try they are so tasty and not like most of thye rest very bland these are heaven. The rest of the food goo

Whjat a lovely provider of first class food. This is the first time of using and i can only say i'm sorry for not using you before. The fish was lovely and the chips are the best we have had for a very long time. You must have the SPRING ROLL

Food was freezing and the bun was hard

This place is in new hands and it really shows! CLEAN! Smells like fresh food and that's what you get. Will come back. Glad the view of the new staff, new signboard and curiosity brought me back to my local chippy! Keep it that way!

1st time from here... i got a pizza and I was well impressed 👌 it was really nice I will be back

First time ordering from here but it won't be the last. Pizza was cooked to perfection with plenty of topping and Parmo was fresh chicken. The boss even delivered it because they were that busy. Now that's good service. Big thumbs up from us.

Lovely food, came hot and on time, parmo was delicious and a substantial amount of chips. Courier was polite , friendly and courteous. Happy customer 👍

The word in peterlee is the shops infested with rats inside and out

dry chips some were green and scabby. greasy over cooked fish that tasted like water.

Nee complaints at all, everything I got was hot and fresh.

If I had my way it would be no stars!!! Stood in shop for approx 30mins waiting for x2 parmos. Only 3 staff working there. 2 of them were just standing seeing to deliveries n didnt matter about the ppl who took there time to walk to the shop. As we stood so long waiting we noticed how dirty the shop is since changing hands not long ago. Arrived back home with food n chips were a weired colour and they looked like scraps. Each chip had black on them and no potato inside. They were hard like they'd been pre-cooked then re-fried. Parmos were cold and no taste to them. If we hadn't of been so hungry the food would of all gone in the bin. This chippy used to be lovely, really gone down hill and would never go back. Will stick the Royal Arms chippy in future. Much better food.

Fish was a nice size good portion of chips fish bites good size to.

Freezing cold chips no peas was given money back for peas and an extra curry sauce both of which were cold the fish only luke warm would not order from here again

Took to long far delivery ,chips were like rocks ,didn't even look like chips looks like scraps, but cheese patte was lovely so I'm giving u 2 star far pattees

Disappointed as always piping hot but chips Luke warm. Not a person who would heat with microwave as don’t taste the same.

Not a bad chippy but food was extremely greasy and had no mushy peas said they rang but never received a call they substituted with gravy and curry sauce curry sauce was lovely but didn't appreciate the gravy

Food was stone cold, and I didn't ask for garlic all over my kebab meat, so it was a waste of kebab as it just got chucked in the bin 🙃 the only decent thing was the wrap as that was the only thing that was still hot with it been in tin foil garlic bread was stone cold :(

Disappointed that no sauces came with either of our kebabs - meant to be chilli and garlic. Delivery was 20 minutes late :(

I had an amazing experience at York Road Fisheries! The food was top-notch, especially the Cowboy Supper. The flavours were outstanding, and the portion size was generous. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was welcoming. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area!

Really friendly and quick service, fish arrived hot and crispy and chips were cooked perfectly. Curry sauce and gravy were both tasty too!

Large Fish, Large Chips, Battered Sausage, Spam Fritter, Peas and Curry. Arrived early, piping hot and everything was cooked to perfection and tasted lovely.

Perfect meal to make a bad night a good night! ☺️

Only bad thing was payed for a big bottle of coke got the wrong size

Fish was really lovely, though it looks like the portions have been reduced, a large chips I ordered, I don't think so, I'd hate to see the small bag of chips. I'm afraid won't be ordering again.

Really, no better fish and chip shop anywhere in the world! Sheer premium taste and good sized portions.

Garlic bread genuinely tasted and looked like cardboard nearly broke my teeth trying to eat certain slices not good!

Ordered fish and pizza and a kebab wrap, everything was absolutely amazing. The chips are probably one of the best chips I’ve had from a fish shop. Everything came quick and hot. Definitely recommend

Ask for sauce on one of the burgers and didn’t put it on asked for a pot or large sauce didn’t get it chips was cold and burgers wasn’t all that

Fish & chips were lovely, kebab wrap on the other hand we found quite a few bits as what looked and felt like bone, nearly broke a tooth.

Outstanding pizzas! Great customer service.. 1 star removed which is no knock to the business but as we parked had two knackers accosting me for money! 🤦 Could put people off, having two wronguns waiting for you to get out of the car and asking you for money when you're just trying to collect your food!!

Absolutely beautiful again, my autistic son who really struggles with food ate every bite of the pizza, really doesn't happen often, partner said the fish was lovely, and me and my other son really enjoyed our sausage, chips and curry sauce, it came on time and was piping hot, the only thing that could have made it any better is if there was an option to buy a little bag of batter, or a bit sprinkled on the chips, couldn't fault a thing, lovely

Very tasty and nice and hot when it arrived. The curry sauce was a little to thick for my liking, but otherwise I have zero complaints.

Large fish on the small side but quality good

Delivery was super quick but to be honest I wish it wasn't.. The batter on the fish was rock solid, chips were like paste I've never had anything like it and to top it off the curry sauce tasted like washing up liquid! £12 quid I won't get back.. The bun was okay

I must admit I was slightly apprehensive about ordering fish and chips for home delivery incase the batter was soggy. I need not have worried. The huge, very white, delicious fish was boxed separately so was as crispy as just fried. Chips perfect, real mushy peas and tasty curry. I thoroughly enjoyed my whole meal. The delivery driver was friendly . What was not to love about the whole experience. Yes I will definitely order again

New to the area and been looking for a good chippy. Chips were proper chips. Cod was good and chunky . And delivered to the house. Will be back.👌

A large bag of chips was sooooo tasty we wished we ordered 2. Cod bites were absolutely gorgeous, fish was spot on (even a fussy dog liked it), chicken nuggets were superb(according to a very parky teenager), overall, top notch well done and thank you 👍👍

Food was excellent, but,,,, the carton deal for £3.99 needs a rethink, fish is beautiful, quantity of chips 15, needs more to make it money worthy.

I've been really poorly and unable to eat for the last 4days, so honestly this was the best food I've had in my life! Couldn't manage it all so my cat got half the fish, he seemed extremely impressed, unfortunately they didn't have the cheese patty, it was only for our lad though so I don't care 😂 forgot to update my number so they just sent a refund out for it which is fine, will deffo be back, although I think it's gonna cost me a fortune in fish bites for the cat

We ordered a pizza which was nice and a cheesy garlic bread with mushroom which was lovely. Also ordered a chicken kebab which was terrible, it came cold. Garlic poured all over it rather than in a tub which made the whole thing aweful. Wouldnt try again sorry

Fish lovely but batter very greasy. Chips paid for large but definitely not worth £2.90. Also not fresh had been in warmer I think. Disappointed as last time totally gorgeous.

Food spot on,very quick delivery

Fish was very bland and soggy batter around it. The small fish was the size of 2 fish gingers and the large fish was better in size. Food had to be heated in microwave as just warm. Not the usual standard I’ve had when I go directly to shop .

Great meal as usual from YRF, delivered slightly early and piping hot!

Got our order on time within the hour / 45 mins. Unfortunately it was stone cold and tasted stale, massive shame because its usually delicious. Chips are a bust but at least I can reheat the pizza an kebab meat.

Nice food at a good price compared to other places

Delivery took ages, rang to see where it was and staff to be fair were polite. Would advise against ordering the fish special if your hungry. Chips tasted nice, fish was disgusting and barely enough to feed a child so extremely disappointed.

Usually we love here and order weekly, staff are a fab bunch of lasses food is usually spot on but when did a large bag of chips become that little paper bag I'd hate to see what a small portion is.

Everything was spot on apart from not being a fan of the chicken as there was to much fat on it but on time hot and polite at the door

Absolutely delicious, Fully recommend Piping hot Stunning!!! And a decent size fish that fitted the box especially when I ordered to be separately wrapped for the devil vegan’s needs, so massive respect to the staff for that huge separately wrapped boxed fish that sacrificed its life to feed me.

We are long time customers here and have ordered a variety of things over time. Normally the food is absolutely fantastic but wasn't too happy with food yesterday. The cod bites were very over cooked. The fish cake had very little fish compare to the amount of potato. Yhe mushy peas were very watered downThe chips, onion rings, curry sauce and battered sausage was really nice though. I didn't feel the need to call as we were happy to continue eating what we had and just left what we didn't want. We presumed YR fisheries were busy and would have only called if we were so disappointed where we couldn't eat anything.

We’re do I start …. Vile vile vile , food was late cold and tbh a mess . Ordered peas they said they ran out and sent gravy instead . Diet Coke instead of regular as they ran out . Fish was freezing cold as was the chips . About 3 slices of kebab meat in the wrap , full of half cooked chips . Honestly never had such terrible food in a long time . AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Kebab wraps, very small and cold and are never the same size from large to small after receiving a very small wrap with very little kebab meat but loads of chips and totally cold I returned it to the shop untouched for a refund which took about 15 minutes of discussion, I was asked to leave and never come back buyer beware 1star

Lovely food and arrived on time.

Never normally leave a review but have to say I ordered a parmo and we couldn't even cut into it. It was burnt and dry and couldn't even chew it it had to be thrown away.I'm very surprised it was even boxed up and served. Worst parmo I've ordered from anywhere . However also ordered other things in our order and the fish and chips were very nice.

Good delivery time and service. Not cooked to my taste, not sure in the type of oil used in the fryer but it seemed to leave an aftertaste.
