YOKOSO SUSHI & BENTO in Northampton

Excellent takeaway. Eat there all the time. Their sushi and nigiri are hand made and always tasty too.

Excellent fresh sushi and my favourite katsu chicken curry. Some nice Japanese sweet treats too. Good value for money and everything we have tried so far has been delicious

The food here is to die for I love coming here whenever I'm in town and craving something delicious to eat the food is worth every penny whenever I get to eat here I feel blessed and you don't have to wait long to get served

The food at Yokoso is great; I would say they have the best noodles in town. However, the customer service is an area that needs serious improvement. The staff often make you feel like you're not valued, and they always give you exactly one tissue for takeout orders and get annoyed if you ask for more. If you visit towards the end of the day, you might get more noodles and less meat—not because they are out of ready chicken, because you can see it , it is there, but seemingly by choice. There are also many other shenanigans that detract from the experience. Dear Yokoso, please change your attitude towards customers. You've increased prices significantly more than others, yet you don't treat your customers respectfully. Word-of- mouth is powerful, and you risk losing me and all my friends as customers very soon.

I come to this spot often and never usually have any issues. Today I arrived 5 minutes before their closing time and kindly asked if they were currently still open, the middle age male worker then responding with “Do we look open” I thought I must of heard him wrong so asked again and he said “I said do we look open”. It wasn’t what he had said but the manner in which he spoke. He was extremely rude. To speak to a regular customers in that way is outrageous, he could have kindly told me they had closed and that would have been fine.

We recently visited this small Asian restaurant perfect for a quick and delicious lunch. The food was very good and the cosy setup, with a few tables inside and a couple outside to enjoy the sun, added to the charm. It's an ideal spot for a tasty meal when you're on the go. Highly recommended! ✨️

Superb place for a quick bite to eat. Either rice or noodles with a decent choice of meat dishes to go on top. Spicy chicken and teriyaki chicken were very tasty. Big portions for £8.50. Definitely recommended.

Best sushi I've had since coming back to England. There's a lot of awesome sushi in Canada while I was there. The Miso Soup lacked flavour, but the sushi was delicious.

Great little find recently....food is cooked very well with generous portions and well priced for what you get. Staff are always friendly and polite. Never have to wait long either so always a bonus on your lunch!

Staff are amazing, food was really tasty, first time being there and a staff member helped me decide what to go for and it was really tasty, limited space to sit inside (3 or 4 seats max) but the food is worth it

Lovely food and excellent service. Only issue is the plastic waste, particularly the containers they give the food in. I come here so often that I have a buildup of plastic containers in my house. Would be nice if they could switch to paper boxes as they already have wooden cutlery.

Such good food! Been so many times, one of my favourite spots in Northampton

Me and my other half are frequent goers to Yokoso! It's a small independent sushi and Bento spot with a small, very casual, eating area inside and several tables under cover outside, which is perfect for people watching! The food itself rarely misses. I often have the chicken katsu with rice, or the sweet chilli chicken with rice. You can ask for a mix of them both which is something I go for sometimes! It's very affordable, and the food keeps you full more than most other speedy options in the area! All that mixed with friendly staff makes for a great choice of meal out!

It is yummy. It is my daughters favourite. The chicken katsu is great and I like the sticky rice and so is the sweet chilli chicken.

The staff are so polite and lovely. The food is amazing!! One of my favourite places to come and visit with friends ♥️♥️

It's Amazing!! I would 100% recommend this place.

I have been a customer for a while but they are very rude. At first I thought it was a language barrier thing but I’ve realised they are just rude and don’t respect their customers. I wanted to add an extra dish to my order and the man made a comment saying “you know we don’t give free food, this is not for free you have to pay” I was confused by this remark as I was standing by the till with my card on my hand and had asked this to be added before I paid. I asked him what he meant and he said it’s just a comment. Even some customers that were in the shop were shocked. Not worth the headache

I can’t wait for the day there’s more sushi places in town. I find myself constantly visiting Yokoso as it’s the most closest to me but after what I experienced on Friday it’s a wrap. For the most part the stuff is always rude and hate when you ask them questions infact they are racist. I wanted to order an extra plate so I told them that before I paid. I had my card in my hand and the male (the rudest) asked me whether I knew that I wasn’t getting the hood for free? Why would I assume I’m getting the food for free when I asked them to add it to my order? I asked what he meant and he said it was just. Comment. They are so rude considering you are paying them for a service. Thankfully I have now find a better sushi place near town.

I had the spicy aubergine and garlic sauce with vegetable noodles. Wasn't very impressed really. Noodles were way overdone and the taste of the overall dish was pretty underwhelming. Haven't tried anything else though..

Since moving away from Northampton, the only thing I have missed is YoKoSo, I live of it when I visit, absolutely fantastic. Both the hot food and the refrigerated Sushi are top tier, amazing prices, AMAZING. 100% recommend.

Tried chicken and beef sushi for the first time in Australia yeeeeaars ago (yes cooked meat and no not together lol) as you can get it literally everywhere and so cheap and great quality I've been coming in here for the chicken sushi for years It's always freshly made, delicious and well presented with the wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce Tried some of the gyoza too and again delicious they offered to heat them up too Staff are friendly Highly recommended Will need to try some of the hot meals sometime

The food tastes great and is worth the value but the staff can be really rude. My friend asked for a fork and chopsticks to try out the cultural cutlery but failed and his fork broke and the staff created fuss about asking for too many cutleries when he asked for another form which showed they don’t respect their customers. Wouldn’t say the ambience is great either, because if you’re dining in they’ll tell you you can’t eat there for long even if you’re still eating.

Really nice little bento, food is amazing and always filling. A little expensive for what it is but really good quality, there is a £10 minimum spend for card which is a little annoying if you want to go by yourself but a really nice little place to go as a couple or group. There is little indoor seating but a fair amount outdoor. And servers are really nice, and understanding when you mishear them like I normally do.

Such a cute and homely restaurant. The workers are accommodating and welcoming. The food is absolutely incredible. And the small seating area is very cozy. It just feels like such a lovely and nice place to eat at. I had the seafood ramen which I enjoyed so much Just what a needed when recovering from a cold. So amazing. I have been before and will keep returning.

Chicken Katsu Curry, Chilli Chicken with rice is my go to! It’s the best. Chicken gyros and chicken sushi are to die for! Love this place but little on the expensive side.

Went there after never having a bento box before and it is totally worth it. The noodles were a bit wet but that is hardly anything to complain about compared to how they tasted. Wonderful food. definitely gonna go there if I visit Northampton again.

Excellent food with filling portions with a good price. I haven't tried any of the sushi but the mains and gyoza have been consistently delicious.

Nice chicken, but so little is given! 90% of the container is filled with bland noodles, and unfortunately prices are considerably more expensive than similar restaurants.

I had the sushi and it was really good and potions were just right which is nice. My girlfriend had the sweet chilli chicken which was sweet and a little chilli although the noodles lacked flavour, would of been nice with a sauce to match the dish. Overall really nice and wish I had the place in my town, would go often

In my opinion I didn’t like the whole experience from time you pick what food you want. And the food was horrible. I feel it awkward to eat the food with the fork and spoon. My spoon broke halfway eating the food. I will not be returning to this place.

So tasty and such amazing portions as well, my friends and I were just watching her prep our order and we couldn't believe how generous she was with each portion. The katsu chicken curry was really tasty and fresh, warm and slightly spicy. Rice was perfectly cooked- soft and sticky. People review saying its a basic menu but why need anything complicated when what they offer is perfect? Would hundred percent reccomend a visit and good for the budget too.

REALLY good takeaway sushi. Generous portions of salmon and avocado in the rolls with quality fresh rice at a fair price point. Staff is really friendly as well and will make the sushi you want if they've run out. An actual gem in Northampton.

Been going here for a few years and the food is always good. Sushi a little basic, but perfectly OK if a little over priced, Hot selection similar but never had any issues with anything. Great staff who take care of food hygiene and clean environment. Service is always polite and now they take cards so no complaints. All good!

Came here from Bedford because sushi there is so trash and I'd make the trip here again tbh. Lovely little corner tucked away but lots of variety. Today I got in near the end of the day and got a box of avocado, and avocado + salmon combo. The avo+salmon combo was coated in... Like the sushi version of popping boba? I don't know what it is but it tastes lovely. My friend got the mochi duo all for a tenner. We found out that they use halal meat for their chicken too which is a plus as their chicken katsu curry smells divine! The owner/person who served us was very kind and sweet, and even added extra pickled ginger to my sushi <3 left me with a full and happy belly! I will OF COURSE be visiting here again, and I highly recommend that you do the same. Hopefully in future the store can get bigger for indoor seating because I'd def be a regular

I'm a regular here, only because there is no other kokoro like restaurant in Northampton. The portion sizes are consistently underwealming, way too much rice to meat ratio, VERY very stingy with their katsu sauce, super dry & if you ask for more than 1 small scoop of sauce that they provide they charge you extra. In contrast of Kokoro, they don't come close.

If you want sashimi don't even bother looking here, they are less than half the size of any other place, more expensive, and do not taste fresh.The lady on the till was also extremely rude. Ginza and Gourmet sushi in Northampton are 10X better

I have been a regular for about 3 years now and honestly I have not been disappointed once. Every time I am considering Asian takeaway Yokoso comes first to my mind. Great fresh food and decent portions.

Tiny sashimi portion sizes and way overpriced. The salmon sashimi portions are less than half the size of any other place in northampton yet they don't give you any extra pieces and charge the same price. very disappointing.

Ordered here today for the first time, the food is horrible. Chicken overcooked, could barely bite through it and I found a piece or wrapping inside the mixture that the chicken was cooked in , the sause was supposed to be sweet and sour however it was just sour. not a very good taste. The noodles were overcooked, no texture at all. It's also overpriced for the food they sell. They charge £1 for one shrimp. Definitely not buying from them again

Outstanding udon noodles 🍜 😋 We like the house special udon noodles with chicken, prawn etc but the seafood and chicken are also very good. We've also enjoyed their sushi, gyoza, edamame, okonomiyaki, mochi balls and wide selection of Japanese drinks. The Chinese takeaway seems popular but we've not tried that.

I live around the corner and am always here. My friend are now also obsessed and it is mine and their go to takeaway and quick lunch option. Super quick to package the good and always flavoursome. Only criticism is portion size is not always the same and you don’t always get the same amount for the money, other than that the food is well worth the visit

I’ve passed here many, many times but have never eaten here until today. I was out with my 5 year old daughter and she chose it and I have to say it was great!! Food was tasty and fresh, service was good and we sat out in the sunshine to eat. I’ll definitely eat there again.

Excellent quality of oriental food. The quality is excellent. We sat outside due to Covid regulations but this was still a wonderful meal. The waitress cleaned down our table and made sure we were seated comfortably. The food is outstanding. I have been to China many times and totally reccomend this wonderful little restaurant as its excellent value for money and the taste of the food is outstanding!!

If my daughter could set up camp in this shop, she would. The staff are always warm and welcoming. The food looks so delicious and fresh. I have had the chicken curry and the sweet chilli chicken. Probably the tastiest curry I've had in a long time. Portions are of a good size and the shop is quite popular. Definitely worth a visit.

Food was alright but bad service rather ruined it and has made me not want to return. The portion of Katsu sauce was rather small so I asked for some more and I was told it was an extra 50p despite this being no where on the menu. I would consider the second portion the minimum I would expect with a standard portion. Secondly, they were only taking card for payments over £10. Whilst there is a pandemic on, and they have the ability to take card, they should be allowing anyone to pay by card no matter how small the transaction.

Went here for the first time after a recommendation. Really shocked and disappointed with the quality of food. It was quite frankly awful. Tasteless noodles, soggy glue-like rice, tough chicken and what was meant to be sweet and sour chicken did not have a distinctive flavour. Overall food was completely bland and overcooked. Rang shop to inform them of my experience but received no help and understanding. Person on phone hung up on me mid-conversation. Wouldn't eat from here again even if they were giving it away for free 😷😷😷

Great food if you know what you like ..

Absolutely delicious food that's fast and simple to get with an option of takeaway (of note, the Udon soup is takeaway too which I highly recommend) After ordering the wrong item (100% on me, I completely failed to see "chicken" on one of the menu items), I asked that the chicken just be taken out and I would still eat it (Yokoso Udon Soup, was very delicious even without the chicken), they did indeed take the chicken out but they then returned and offered me crispy prawns free of charge out of kindness, completely unprompted from me. I did of course leave a tip, and now this review, which I hope makes up for those free crispy prawns (you should definitely have them yourself, as I can atest, they are delicious)

Tried lots of these one box meal places and this place scores amongst the best for the price bracket. Generous with the meat and cooked well. Only advice would be to occasionally have a new item on rotation as limited range. Always get friendly service with a smile.
