Went for a birthday lunch. No prosecco. , no White wine either asked for Asked to see the manager. After a DRY EMBARRASSMENT Waiting over 30 mins we were presented with a warm bottle of white wine, and asked the waitress where's the manager ??? He's busy.... Awful it's gone down hill so much just don't bother... As a high street manager I'd be disgusted. Never again, we just walked out !!!

Having visited a couple of months ago the kids were looking forward to another great experience. Instead, we turned up to a restaurant that seemed disorganised and short staffed, no food at all on the conveyer belt in the two hours we were in the restaurant, a forgotten order which took over an hour to resolve relating to 3 main meals, and a couple of very disappointed children. Food was good quality when it arrived but not much else to shout about unfortunately.

Very, very disapointing. We have eaten at many Sushi train restaurants, so were looking forward to having lunch at Yo Exeter. The service was really bad. The Manager sat us down, said he would come back for our drink orders and never returned. Had to ask one of the waiters to come and take our drinks order which he did. He told us that it was his first day, so we were very patient. There was very little food coming around on the train, so we decided to order some from the kitchen. We asked which dishes were GF, as this was not marked on the menu. The waiter could'nt tell us which dishes were GF, and he went away to ask the manager, then returned and handed us an Ipad, and said we should check the allergens table - we spent 5 minutes looking through the tables on the ipad, but could not find the poke bowls. We asked the manager, and he said he did'nt know how to find the GF options on the ipad, and HQ set the menus - we gave up. We ate three salmon dishes off the sushi train which were bland and overpriced price. We were never offered water, given wasabi, and the drinks we ordered never showed up! We paid and left. Never going back there - EVER! we got sandwiches from M&S and ate them in the park.

Waited 45 minutes for Cucumber Maki and a Salmon Combo, asked twice to be rudely/ snappily told (l was cut off before l could finish my sentence) 'its on its way'...My kids had finished their Bento Boxes so l cancelled my order...A waste of time and rude with it...Look up and the Aircon is filthy, the bathroom a mess...My children like the novelty of the revolving belt but l've watched Yo Sushi in Exeter go down hill quickly, there's better Sushi and service elsewhere....

Service was fine they asked us all the right questions and they were great. The reason why we given the rating of one is because the quality of the food is super poor the Salmon had no taste we could definitely tell it was not super fresh. It had a strange texture as you picked it up with chopsticks it disintegrated. Rice Was super compact Like clay. Unfortunately, we believe this is a standard across All yo restaurant as we tried the one in Plymouth and it was the same. Yo was One of the best sushi places we used to go to and as we haven’t been for awhile, we thought we try the All you could eat as it’s come back again. We will be avoiding all Yo sushi restaurants Unfortunately, from now on. the High Street sushi vendors has changed a lot from the last 10 years and the quality of sushi is a lot higher and unfortunately yo sushi has slipped And not kept up with the quality. People that never had sushi before may think it’s great until they go somewhere that’s a lot better And a lot cheaper. This is probably why they’re not doing so well anymore. There was smell coming from the chair table. And when I open the lid on one of the plates it smelts like something was rotting and I smell the sushi and that seemed okay. I believe the plates weren’t clean very well. There are parts where the table connected to the sushi bar was extremely dirty from splatter marks and you can see they weren’t clean properly. There were parts that the silicon was connected to the bar, which was a hard to reach parts was extremely dirty. I feel like they need to have a refer in the store as it’s been there for a long time and looking very tired.

Standard chain restaurant experience - acceptable half pre-made food with no staff present that give half a bleep. The children’s meal was great value with a generous helping of fried rice and chicken and most of the small plates were tasty if a little overpriced. There were a lot of dishes and drinks out of stock, some of which staff neglected to tell us about instead deciding to just not bring them. This brings me to the biggest problem - all the staff whilst perfectly pleasant were so unprofessional it’s laughable. I had to remind them twice to actually bring food over which had somehow not been communicated to the kitchen. The whole time the team were talking over our table, joking around with one another, complaining about work and just being generally unprofessional paying absolutely no attention to the diners.

What ever happened to Yosushi.I have eaten sushi for many years and for my Birthday on the 27March we came here..Only 2 other people present.(1.30lunch time).The system has changed,not for the better.Toilets dirty,no customer service,you had to ask for chopsticks,serviettes,chicken dish was pork ,sliced ginger container empty thank fully both my partner and I have a sense of humour and decided not to let it beat us.No wonder the place was empty if this was the everyday standard,we had travelled 25 miles ,and put the cherry on the cake we were overcharged for "chicken" dish and when this was brought to the attention of the staff member we were told it would take 3days for reimbursement this was 5 minutes after paying up.Never again.No wonder Waggemamas was standing room only and menues were issued to those waiting outside. Very disappointed.

The food was great and the staff were nice, however for some reason they have gotten rid of the QR code ordering system. This meant that one staff member had to clean all the tables, take all the orders and payment and deliver all of the food. This meant it took longer to order our food, get it and leave. As well as this due to the large number of similar items on the menu the food i got was not what i ordered (again, this never happened with the qr codes). Please bring back the qr codes, they made everything quicker, meant i didnt have to talk to people and made service more consistant

Siendo un cliente leal de yo sushi y por lo general me encanta la experiencia, lamento mucho que hoy sienta que no he recibido el servicio al cliente que merezco.Rachel fue grosera y arogante. Me ha quitado la caja de comida para llevar de las manos y me ha gritado que no toque nada. Señaló el ipad y me ordenó que hiciera una selección allí. En este punto, se alejó para tomar un teléfono. Teniendo en cuenta que la última vez que visité recogí mi comida para llevar y pagué en la caja. Sentí que, dado que el sistema cambió, tal vez podría explicarse cortésmente. Reservé una mesa para 2 ya que era mi cumpleaños y vi que estaban haciendo un 50% de descuento en un menú fijo. Esperé afuera y me dijeron que no había reserva, así que les mostré una copia de mi correo electrónico de confirmación. Nos sentamos, tuvimos que preguntar por la oferta, tomamos nuestro entrante y esperamos el resto de nuestro pedido durante 30 minutos. Vimos cómo se servían otras mesas y se completaban los pedidos de comida para llevar. Luego me quejé de que esperar 45 minutos no era suficiente. Finalmente obtuvimos el resto de nuestro pedido. Estaba listo para salir. Eran conscientes de los problemas que experimentamos y se disculparon y quitaron 10 de nuestra factura. No volveremos pronto y no vale la pena el dinero, incluso con un 50% de descuento.

Somos clientes habituales de este restaurante y nunca nos defrauda. Tuve la oportunidad de un almuerzo rápido para 2 y el servicio y la comida fue excelente. La variedad de comida es increíble y puedo recomendar el calamar a la sal y pimienta cada vez, seguido de un pollo Katsu y la opción de fideos o arroz también.

Nuestros niños han querido visitar durante años y probar los diferentes platos. La comida fue un poco deslucida. La comida estaba bien, pero algunos de los pedidos llegaron inmediatamente y otros mucho más tarde. Mis rollos de dragón estaban empapados probablemente por ahí.El servicio al cliente no es excelente, algunos de los jóvenes no parecen ser capaces de ocultar que no están muy interesados en estar allí.¡En general, no volverá corriendo a un Yo! en cualquier momento.

Sadly, having been before - the food here is fab. However, given the customer service, we didn't get so far as eating last night. We had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were sat at a side bar that had a sign on it saying "this table cannot be used due to covid restrictions". When we raised this with the wait staff, they said they couldn't use the other booths and then proceed to sit other couples there within 2 minutes of our arrival. When we raised this again, the server - who was either called Jay or Jake - said if we wanted to sit somewhere better, we should book out the whole restaurant, and when I asked if he was joking he said "well if you don't like it", and stared at the door until we left. I'm not sure if he couldn't be bothered to do his job, or if he was just having a bad day and taking it out on others - either way, I'm not sure he understands what it is to work in "customer service".

La primera vez que pudimos volver a Yo! Exeter desde el cierre.Dentro de los lugares se veían luces rotas, el agua no funcionaba, etc.A pesar de que nuestros platos eran frescos, estaba claro que se habían preparado hace mucho tiempo y se guardaban en el frigorífico.Arroz pegajoso frío y gambas en tempura Las gambas en tempura no son nada buenas.Después de presionar para pedir ayuda, tardó más de 15 minutos en aparecer extraño considerando que el lugar estaba prácticamente vacío.Cuando llegó la comida, era insípida y la mitad de la orden se había retrasado o faltaba.Necesitan ordenar las cosas y volver a ser como solía ser.

Absolutely disappointed. We have loved Yo Sushi as a family in the past, but have been really let down by our takeaway order today, and will never eat there again. We ordered the food online, which took an hour to be delivered (that’s not a problem as we were expecting that). However, when it arrived, we were saddened to find half the order missing, and when we called Yo Sushi to enquire about where our order had gone, they informed us that it ‘was nothing to do with them and must be the delivery company‘s fault’ and that we should take it up with them , and when we asked about why we had been given exactly half of our order (eg only got one prawn katsu when We ordered two) we were told that they’d just thrown them together in the same meal box. So disappointed, especially how they have upped their prices, so you’d expect to get more for your money! Won’t be ordering a takeout from there again, such a shame! Can’t believe the poor customer service, we should have been offered AT LEAST the rest of our order and an apology, if not a refund, as unfortunately the food we recieved wasn't warm, had no sauce on the katsus, and looked a mess by the time we managed to share it out. Disappointing all round, would not recommend.

Have always enjoyed the food at Yo Sushi. It has a standard that remains constant. However had a query for the first time on something we ordered and as a result received exemplary customer service from Jay. He ensured that our query was resolved with expediency and over and above expectations. When you receive that kind of customer service it makes all the difference. Will definitely be back in due course.

Despite having been here a few times, I wasn't too sure what to expect from the sushi school. I was booked onto this as a Christmas gift for me and my partner, and when we turned up we were greeted warmly and set up and a prepped bar table. Jan helped us get settled in and was really friendly and encouraging throughout the 2 (and a bit) hours we spent in a small group. We went through the basics and were not rushed at all, and got some interesting information on the knives used and how sushi chefs train. This was also fantastic value for money in terms of the sheer quantity of sushi we got to eat, the entry price being accounted for within the first half of a session's worth of sushi! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to give sushi making a go, or those such as ourselves who only ever make maki and would like to give the others a try.

The fries had this weird stuff on top, looked like incredibly thin onion (or snake skin, but i'm pretty sure it wasn’t that) but they were really nice, just the right level of heat to them, I was surprised by the size of the portion actually, really filled the plate, chicken was as you’d expect it, but the rice was partially nice when in the sauce.I didn't eat the salad parts so I can't pass comment

About my 4th visit here and by far the worst. The portions are now tiny and more expensive. Most sad looking things going round the belt had fallen apart. An expensive nigiri dish I ordered just fell apart when I tried to pick it up so that was returned. The rice was very dry. Several of the other dishes were hideously over salted such as the Bok Choi and Katsu curry. We returned some dishes. They didn’t have several of things we ordered which just added to the disappointment. To make matters worse the overhead light kept flashing. This place has gone right downhill. Won’t be back.

Me and my partner recently had a sushi class at Exeter. A 2 hour session that chef Jan taught us so much. We tried lots of food and got to make lots of our own rolls, well worth it! We came away 2 very happy and full customers! Definitely recommend this for others.

Went here for my sons birthday for a sushi chef experience. Starts early at 6.30 but that wasn't a problem. The sushi chef (Jan) was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and personable. We made all sorts of maki, sushi and rolls and were able to take interesting pieces from the conveyor belt too. The food was delicious. I love sushi and have eaten it in many different restaurants some of them top class but I have never had a better value sushi night out. My son loved it. We were able to take home much of what we made for my wife and other children so they loved it too.

Mi compañero y yo visitamos YO! Sushi un sábado a las 6 pm. El restaurante estaba medio lleno con una mezcla de personas, hemos visitado varias veces antes, pero esta fue nuestra peor visita hasta ahora.No había mucho en la cinta transportadora que tenía poca mezcla de la comida y no se completó hasta 30 minutos después de nuestra visita. Los únicos productos que contenían eran guisantes, verduras y postres. Los rollos de sushi clásicos en general tienen menos productos de pescado y más pollo / aguacate en los cambios recientes en el menú, lo cual es muy decepcionante. También ha habido un aumento general en los precios y avanzar hacia más elementos del menú principal como el curry y el ramen. Los otros productos se parecen más a guarniciones que obtendría en otros restaurantes asiáticos como calamares fritos, coliflor, papas fritas, etc.La señora que nos atendió y el gerente presente no hicieron ningún intento real de hablar con nosotros y simplemente estaban sentando gente y limpiando esporádicamente. Cuando nuestros pedidos estuvieron listos, los chefs murmuraron "yo - yo" y les tomó mucho tiempo recibirlos. Cuando comenzamos a ir aquí hace unos años, había un ambiente mucho más feliz y un personal entusiasta. Hace poco más de un año nos sentamos en el mostrador y el chef habló con nosotros todo el tiempo y tuvimos una gran experiencia.Había un flujo constante de conductores de Deliveroo que venían a recoger alimentos, de los que estábamos cerca, que fueron muy groseros con el personal, las órdenes de gemidos no estaban listas e intentaban tomarlas antes de que se completaran.Entiendo que los problemas de la oficina central con los cambios de menú y los precios no son culpa de los restaurantes, pero generalmente está bien tratarlos cuando la experiencia es divertida. Amazing, amazing, amazing! It was far better than I expected. We were taught by passionate chef Lucas who gave us loads of advise, food to try (loads of it!) and made the workshop so much fun. And we took home few souvenirs and huge box of sushi we made during the workshop for delicious lunch tomorrow.Absolutely great value for your money, must have been mis-prices at 50 pounds for a couple.

Visited YO Sushi today around 4:30pm, I ordered a green tea, prawn gyoza and spicy seafood ramen. The service was average, most dishes on the belt looked like they had been sat around for a while. My prawn gyoza arrived and I had to check it was prawn as it had no taste at all, it was like warm and simply tasted like greasy mush! My seafood ramen took a while to come out which I appreciate it was made to order, it was really bland the noodles tasted like blue dragon egg noodles from a packet, you’re better off staying at home! I was comped for my meal as I barely ate any of it! Unfortunately I will not return

When for a meal with for the 5 of us. I had the large chicken kastu curry that was very nice apart from the serving staff forgeting my spoon. Later we ask for some rolls that told a very long time to come and it looked like there was only 2 serving staff fora busy Saturday. The food was good but the service could be improved.

I absolutely love Yo Sushi and couldn’t recommend it enough! The staff are so friendly, the food is so tasty and the whole experience is super fun!! If you’re keen to visit, I’d recommend booking or going early, as it’s very popular due to how good it is! Don’t listen to bad reviews about this place, I couldn’t make a single complaint!

We come here often. Lucasz, the head chef, is not only one of the best sushi chefs I have met in over 40 years of loving Japanese food and eating it all over the world. He is the friendliest and best loved of all the clientelle. I hope he stays for a long time. Yo! Would be much the poorer without him. My granddaughter even remembers him and calls him "our friend"!!

Primera y última visita a Yo Sushi. La calidad de la comida no era fantástica: el arroz era demasiado blando y el pollo estaba seco y sin sabor. Pero la parte más horrible de la experiencia fue la discusión constante (y ruidosa) del chef y el aprendiz de chef. Mientras estábamos sentados en el bar, fue increíblemente incómodo ver a hombres adultos gritándose unos a otros y haciendo paradas (por no mencionar increíblemente poco profesional). Mi hija y yo nos detuvimos aquí un sábado por la tarde a eso de la 1:45, nos sentamos rápidamente y tuvimos una gran mesa en la ventana, todo el personal fue muy amable y comenzamos a meter la comida, algunas de las cosas nuevas en el menú es delicioso y me alegra ver que también han guardado algunas de las cosas viejas, tuvimos un almuerzo muy agradable y seguro que volveremos, solo un pequeño problema y fue que seguimos viendo los mismos platos dando vueltas y vueltas la mayor parte del tiempo el tiempo.

Don't usually bother reviewing the franchises if we go because everyone knows what they're getting. However I went to the first Yo Sushi in Soho shortly after it opened, the food was great and it was so exciting! So what's changed...the food was bland, portions small. Personally I don't think food should be prepared by someone with nail polish and false eyelashes. Waiting staff were helpful but overall place, especially the toilets could do with a good clean. I have a chef friend who always checks the toilets before he eats in a new place and he probably has a point.

Oh Yo Sushi - what has happened? Our experience yesterday, at a place we loved going to will unfortunately be the last. No 'Blue Monday' as apparently according to the waiting staff it wasn't worth doing anymore, which we found that hard to believe as it was always packed on a Monday when ever we had visited over the last 5 plus years - yesterday it was half full. We decided to stay anyway as we had driven from North Devon (about 60 miles!) so a long way to turn around and go home! But wow, your prices have really increased, we appreciate things go up - but seriously you are charging £4 for 3 stems of broccoli with a bit of sauce over it - extortionate! We wouldn't have minded paying more if the quality had been good, which unfortunately it was not. Because of the prices we didn't order much, I had a salmon hand roll and the salmon selection. When I picked up the hand roll half of it was missing! I called the waitress over and said when we had been before there was actually rice going through the roll, she took it away and it was rectified - only to be told that I wasn't the first person to mention that today, so already a complaint but not actioned on. At £4.50 again that's extortionate for a small spoonful or rice, some nori, 2 small slices of avocado and 2 very small pieces of salmon. The salmon selection was ok (but again at £13 quite expensive for what you got) the salmon on the nigiri was incredibly thin and very stingy and as for the 'thick cut salmon sashimi' this was by far the smallest piece of salmon I think I've ever had! My husband was very uninspired by the couple of plates he chose and we both noticed how much smaller dishes were that were going around the belt and how much smaller the rolls had been cut. The lovely waitress who we paid our bill with asked how everything was, we were honest and said how disappointed we were with pretty much everything and how much things had changed - again she said we weren't the first people to say this so we can only assume things are not good at Yo Sushi, which is such a shame. On a side note, please mention to the waiter it's really unprofessional to walk around the restaurant eating great big mouthfuls of food while you are working! Finally my trip to the ladies loo just about topped the whole experience off for me; they were absolutely filthy, the floor was disgusting as was the condition of the loo itself, the sinks clearly hadn't been cleaned for ages, broken hand dryer with an offering of a ripped up roll of blue had towel, and going back up the stairs the glass at the bottom of the hand rail was also filthy - I just couldn't wait to get out. Such an awful shame to have such a poor (and expensive) experience in a place we absolutely loved and sadly won't ever go back to, unless things change drastically.

We had booked a Sushi making lesson, but on arrival was told there had been a mixup and it was cancelled. Obviously very disappointed as we had traveled an hour to get there. The manager was extremely apologetic and offered us a free meal and drink as compensation. Excellent meal and service. Thank you Yo Sushi. We’ll be back.

Although I have never been to a Yo! Sushi before, I had built my expectations up. It was nice, the staff were pleasant and the dishes we tried were average. The sushi seemed to be rolled quite small compared to others tried. We also ordered a couple of hot dishes which were lovely. I would visit again, but would hope to see more variety and colour on the belt.

I bought a sushi making workshop for my husband's Christmas present so we went along last night to use it. Head chef Lukasz was absolutely fantastic. He gave us lots of tasters of tuna salmon, beef, caviar and other delights then after talking us through the process, showed us how to make sushi ourselves. He chopped up all the different types we had made and have us a big container to take home with us. Drinks were free too. It was a great evening and I would thoroughly recommend it and may even do it again. It was £25 per person but there was so much lovely food to eat, it was worth it. A fun evening doing something different.

I received a sushi making lesson for my birthday which I thought was a little fishy! Anyway we took a while to find a date but the wait was worth it. Lukusz the head chef gave us an awesome lesson on how to dissect a salmon and make all the different types of sushi. We were given loads of food (go hungry) and hot o take away what we made at the end of the evening. Great evening. Awesome experience. Great teacher. Thanks Lukusz

Yo Sushi used to be one of my favourites. It’s not as good as it used to be. The sushi is cut so thinly it falls apart. A cost cutting exercise I’m sure. The range available on the belt seems greatly diminished in quantity, quality and variety. Staff seem plentiful but mostly new and poorly trained / lacking experience. I hope this was just a bad day. I will try again as I like the chain.

I came here with two work colleagues for blue plate Monday. We had no issue getting a table at 7pm but it got busy quickly! The menu choice is great, including for veggies and vegans and all £3 a plate. I ordered the fried cauliflower and pumpkin katsu curry to start. The 'cauliflower' turned up quickly but they'd actually given me squid! When I told them, I'm sure they'd given mine to another table, so swapped them, even though I think the other table had already eaten some! I found the cauliflower very heavy and salty. I waited almost 20 minutes for my katsu. My friends ordered more food at this point, so I mentioned I was still waiting for my curry and was told quite curly "yeah well, cooked food does taker longer". Within a few seconds, a chicken katsu was put in front of me! After putting them right yet again, the pumpkin one turned up about 1 minute later.... The only other dish I ordered was the tofu tacos which were delicious, along with some edamamme from the belt. I only drank water so my bill came to £12.50. Splitting the bill was a bit of a faff! I will try here again and just hope for a slicker service.

We visited Yo in Exeter for a quick lunch whilst on holiday. The food was very good and very tasty. The range of dishes outside the standard rotating classical dishes are expanding and really good to try. We ate a lot of dishes with miso soup, both on and around the menu. So for £44 for the 2 of us, we felt it was pretty good value including drinks. Always enjoy the approach at Yo Sushi !

I made an impromptu visit to YoSushi with my dad as it was getting late in the evening and near to restaurant closing times. However, we were still warmly welcomed and very politely reminded of the closeness to closing time by a young lady named Isi. Food was excellent and this was matched by the thorough service and smile from Isi throughout, we will be returned soon in no time. Highly recommend.

We visited yo sushi for the second time for one of our friends birthdays. The first time we visited it was excellent with amazing food and service. This time around we was just as impressed when welcomed and looked after by a lovely waitress called isi, who was very friendly and attentive! The food was amazing! Visited Exeter to welcome Nigel Farage and The Brexit party. It was a hectic morning as so many there to see him so needed a quick bite to eat before heading home. As always the friendly service by Ioana was excellent, no fuss, quick and efficient. Luckily Nigel had come on a Monday so we had the Blue Monday option which also included Salmon and Pumpkin Katsu. So excellent service and expertly cooked food.

El chef de sushi con un acento encantador explicó de manera magistral todo el proceso de elaboración del sushi, desde cómo y hasta dónde encontrar el pescado más fresco para demostrar cómo hacer un maki de triángulo (¡los makis aparentemente en forma de estrella son una cosa!). No vimos pasar el tiempo, ya que estábamos tan concentrados y tan en hacer la comida y divertirnos. Nos fuimos con una cantidad excepcional de sushi gracias a la generosidad del chef, y justo cuando nos fuimos nos dijimos que definitivamente regresaremos. El pescado fresco que cortó delante de nuestros ojos con un cuchillo más afilado que (inserte lo más afilado posible) fue, honestamente, el mejor salmón que he probado en mi vida, con un sabor increíble y se derrite en la boca.

The food is nice and the Yo Sushi experience is good, seeing the food and being able to pick what you want. The service is also efficient. However, we think the food is better at the other two sushi restaurants we have tried in Exeter. We also felt that Yo Sushi is overpriced compared to other sushi restaurants. They also charge £1.50 each for tap water! I have only come accross tap water being free before!

I visited this branch of Yo Sushi in January. I ordered only from the vegetarian menu but as it was a first for me having Japanese food I was not sure what the food would look like. The third small meal I ordered I was eating until I felt like something was not right and got my meat eating partner to try my food who confirmed I was chicken. The waitress initially charged us for the meal but when I told her we did not order that she laughed!! I am vegetarian for cultural reasons and cannot believe this response. She removed the price of the meal from the bill but as I had not eaten it this was to be expected anyway. I cannot believe this standard of customer service as my vegetarianism was not taken seriously AT ALL and there was nothing done as a formal apology from the establishment.

We just came back home from our first sushi making class with lots of sushi we made, sushi class books, and sushi rolling mat. We were the only people taking the class today so we got full attention from the head chef who was very friendly and great at teaching how to make sushi. Time went really quickly and I didn't realise how late it was when it was towards the end as I didn't look at the time at any point. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves sushi!!

My family and I went to eat. Wanted something healthy and a bit different. Staff where very pleasant but they where so understaffed. We waited for 30 mins to get our ‘Go large ’ dishes, the lady next to us had been there nearly an hour. Food was great but the wait unacceptable and seeing staff running and doing their best made the who experience stressful. Disappointing. Last time I try this place.

I have never felt the need to complain to a restaurant before about the service, but I have never experienced such a hostile, awkward atmosphere in a restaurant from the awful staff. Yo sushi is my favourite chain restaurant and I have probably been at least 30 times elsewhere, but I will not be coming back to the Exeter branch until something is done about the shocking waiting staff. I have been 3 times since September and have left every time shocked at how we were treated, with the waiting staff rolling their eyes at us, being impatient and rude, messing around, never smiling or showing any hospitality, and consistently getting our orders wrong. The last time that we visited, the 6 of us left early, still hungry and ended up getting dessert elsewhere because we felt so awkward around the waiting staff.

Rude staff - waiting 2 mins + for light to be responded to with 8+ staff and 20-25 customers. No drinks offered and had to ask for glasses. On first order we were told that most of what we wanted was on the belt which it wasn't - did she want us to get up and hunt for it. Rolls were badly made and some fell apart, sashimi was badly cut, squid was very overcooked and pork bao contained a 2 inch piece of pork less than half what was shown in the picture. Spicy tuna roll and dynamite rolls were excellent though. We had to wait a while for food even though staff orders were being prepared. We used to love YO and are disappointed by the poor standard set by Exeter. We have been to YO 30+ times in 5-6 locations over the years but now go elsewhere even Daily Sushi @ Waitrose as it is far better for flavour and freshness.

The sushi here was good but be warned - it's very easy to spend a lot so be careful to tot up what you've bought as you eat it. I especially liked the rare beef with coriander reduction so would recommend that. Note that when you want to order you need to press the button at the table.

This place is a gem! Order each item as you intend to have it arrive at the table rather than all at once. This is my favourite sushi east of the Pacific coast. I highly recommended the stir-fry beef and mushroom it exceeded expectations greatly.
