YO! Oldham Extra in Oldham

My husband visited the cafe. He bought a paper from the store and then went to buy a coffee. On asking for the coffee He was told to " order at the machine" after asking how to pay at said machine He was told that "it is card only" . My husband is 79 and doesn't carry a bank card. He then went to the Greggs store below, ordered a coffee (paid cash) then returned to your cafe to read his paper bought in your store. He was then told that he couldn't bring a drink bought elsewhere into the cafe. (The cafe was empty. All he wanted was to have a coffee and read his paper as he waited.) He said he wanted to see a manager and was told that the manager was out. Eventually a young man was sent to diffuse the situation and he agreed that (under the circumstances) my husband could indeed stay to finish the coffee. He would gladly have bought the coffee from Tesco had they accepted cash. Just as this happened two blokes in overalls came in with both food and drink from Greggs and they sat down unchallenged. My husband was a little upset about the incedent when he returned home. I THINK IT IS TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE THAT THERE WAS NO OPTION TO PAY CASH. NOT EVERYONE CARRIES A BANK CARD

Used scan and shop to facilitate a speedier exit. Required 'authorising' as an adult for alcohol purchase and tag removing from bottle. 1 Staff member covering scan and shop who was, for some reason, scanning another customers entire shop while I waited. Defeats the purpose of the system and if ' every little helps' then there should be sufficient staff to cover these till points. Already saving money by not employing till staff so get your act together. Prefer to pay more for some common sense service.

Worst pharmacy in the area. They hardly ever fill a prescription first time. Always have to order everyday medication such as blood pressure tablets. Now changed my nominated pharmacy to the late night pharmacy on Lees Road which are a 100% better.

Good verity. Clean. Friendly staff

Ladies Toilets only one working went in to use today massive cue few people kept coming in and leaving as they could see the waiting time was going to be too long when at last my turn came no toilet paper I shouted out to the ladies outside there was no toilet paper they went out tried to get some they couldn’t find staff available how sad and terrible terrible service I was disappointed and disgusted with Tesco as this problem of toilets been out of service has been going on for a long time and they know this Shame on you Tesco what a horrid way of treating your customers

Dont shop here as a rule, tend to use the 24 larger store.

Something you can get a good bargain.

Nice big store with a pharmacy and a huge cloths dept upstairs with a electronics dept , staff are all very helpful especially on the customer service desk , big thanks to the youngsters on there like Robyn ,danish and the others great help always greet you with a big smile and thanks to Lisa the management for sorting out my problem, it's a good shopping experience when the staff are helpful to there customers

Conducive environment, great services, shopping made easy

Half the staff are lazy and can’t be bothered to check in the back when asked for something. Lady with the pink hair is especially guilty of this. Asked for something and instantly told non left. How does she know? Asked another more helpful member of staff who went in the back and he found plenty of what I was looking for. Strange that.

Recently added a parking system. Ruins every establishment they partner with, I'd like to shop with peace of mind that I'm not being timed.

So sad the cafe now automated to order food and pay. So many people struggling as the Internet connection is not good all the time. Cafe appears to have a lot of staff tables are dirty and floor is as well. Definitely off my list of places to go.

I love our Big Tesco but the last couple of times I've been the people working on the checkouts haven't been the friendliest. I'm heavily pregnant so an offer of some form of help would have been nice too. Think I'll stick to self checkouts, they probably have better customer service skills 😂 Edit... I did visit the store again... still heavily pregnant at the time. Lady decided to close the till and asked me to go to the next one yet proceeded to serve somebody else. Again, I was very obviously pregnant. I asked her why she did that, she told me that she was opening up the till still that's why she didn't serve me. Found out her name today... Natasha. Nice one Natasha.

Just a regular visit to the store, needed the toilet beforehand so nipped in, both stalls were in use and I needed a stall as I had my child with me. Tried the disabled/toddler toilet but that was shut, finally got one stall free but the toilet was overflowing, either the previous occupant doesn't know how a toilet works or the cleaning staff are useless. Instead of waiting to piss myself, I locked me and my child in the toddler room where there is no toilet, I stood on the chair inside and relieved myself in the sink and then used a ton of blue paper to clean the mess I'd made on the chair and sink area. Perhaps if the store could provide enough well maintained amenities, I could have used the toilet as intended but I get daily reminders from other people and badly run organisations that humanity will never succeed to become humane or intelligent. Quite frankly I wish I'd had the heart to leave my urine all over the room as a better, more visual reminder as to why keeping these facilities well maintained is of great importance to you. Perhaps you could hire more minimum wage slaves to accommodate for your customers or maybe pay them better by allowing the company to take a dent in its profits.

Great place to do your day to day shopping and your weekly shopping, Also as electral an household appliance just like most supermarkets

Not as good now you have to self order can't get separate jug of gravy ordered extra potion of baked beans to have with my order and because the person with me had ordered a breakfast they put my baked beans on there plate before I could order a tea and ask for teabag to be left out as I like my tea weak if I order a latte I ask for one shot not anymore don't think they care about customers anymore we are just an inconvenience

Just been verbally barred from this store 11:10am 22/12/23, coming out of the store after using self checkout, trolly locked it's wheels, security asked me were I had paid and could he see my receipt. I told him I had used self check out and had my receipt. I asked the security guard if he suspected me of shoplifting and he said no, I asked if I was free to go and took my shopping from the trolley and left. I will be going to the store to speak to the manager on Wednesday 27th Dec to get this sorted. If the stores don't trust people going through self checkout then get rid of them. I have been a regular at this store for years. 😫😫😫

Had the misfortune of being served by the foulest lady I have ever met. She had blonde hair didn’t get her name, she had a very nice colleague with her but herself was horrid and unwelcoming. She should NOT be working on customer service, she loved the use of sarcasm while raising her voice as I was just asking where to deliver a parcel. Speaking over me and trying to belittle me. Put her in the stock room where she can’t ruin anyone else’s day. I feel bad for the people that have to work with her.

👎The shop manager needs to do thier job!Staff just stand around chatting at the self serve, especially the young girls, usually 2 or 3 of them. Can't believe they actually get a wage for just attending each day. Even the people on the main tills chat between themselves and ignore the customer. A very impersonal shopping experience. Prefer Featherstall Road Tesco staff but go to Asda, Shaw instead now.

Wouldn’t let me checkout alcohol I was ready to purchase at 23:58 because a member of staff wasn’t available to confirm my age before dead on 12. Ridiculous policy.

We usually have lunch at Tesco on Fridays, then do our weekly shop. Recently they have changed to ordering on a screen. No alternative. We are perfectly capable of using screens but DO NOT WISH TO. We left, had lunch in nearby Morrisons and did our shop there. This is what's called shooting yourself in the foot. Morrisons tried the screen idea years ago. Some stores still have a screen, but they were never foolish enough to take away the tills. I have never seen anyone use the screen. Most people simply go to the cashier.

Nice big store spoiled by a poor cafe. The store is a large one, with a large selection of clothes and household goods as well as the usual food items. Unfortunately the cafe has been renovated to card only, so you can’t use cash. That wouldn’t be so bad if the food was OK, but when we called this morning for a breakfast the beans were barely warm. Nothing else seemed very warm either, so it was all a bit disappointing and not up to the standard of other Tesco cafe’s we’ve visited. If the beans are cold, it makes the whole breakfast cold. The reason maybe the four ordering screens. When there was a queue, orders could only be taken from one person at a time. Now, with four ordering screens (all in use when I arrived, and with other people waiting) four people can each order two or three meals at the same moment. The kitchen staff are obviously not used to the pressure of cooking a dozen breakfasts which have all been ordered at the same moment. Management obviously think this is a good idea, but staff and customers all seem to be aware the new system is not as good.

Hectic, ¾ of the tills are closed. Staff congregating chatting whilst customer need help with "self service" machines... I dread Christmas if its already this bad..

I like shopping here. I like the cafe. But the new no till and no cash access to the cafe is discriminating. Sometimes people want to use cash. Some people don’t want to use technology to order. It would have been better to keep the till and put a self serve machine in. This is discriminating. I’m fine. But it’s poorly thought through. Won’t use cafe again.

Great store for daily use items and at a very reasonable prices

Just been in oldham extra, lady on self service with beige headscarf ( although I think navy or black is the uniform )was downright rude, argued with me and when she thought she had proved her point, she smirked. I pointed out her error and asked her what was the need to argue with me. I think she was just eager to get back to her friend to chat between helping customers.....she was no help at all :(

Arrived roughly ten minutes before closing time. Was denied at the door. "We can close 10 minutes earlier" says the security guard. THAT'S NOT WHAT THE SIGN SAYS!

Absolutely Huge! Largest Tesco Extra I have been in, parking is underneath the store, then a travelator takes you up into the store itself. Everything was spaced out, large Aisles, This Tesco stocks everything you could possibly need.

The 3 girls staff members on the self checkout are way too busy talking and laughing amongst themselves to help anybody, waited ages to get my age verified and the girl just pushed past my little boy to do so. 29th July, 2.30pm.

Great place to shop, sometimes understaffed , has in store cafe, Optician, Greg’s and Timpsons. Good size store and always plenty of room to park your car downstairs or upstairs.

Wonderful shopping facilities and well staffed. I've been coming here for a long time and it's always great to return.

Go here several times a week and to say staff are not the most i helpful and miserable is an understatement. Asked for help at the self serve and you would have thought I was asking the staff member for their life savings. Got told will help if I get chance, I have to go between all the tills. Wouldn’t mind but there was only one other customer using self checkout and they didn’t need assistance.why bother just do it yourself ,although it’s what staff are actually paid to do they really are incredibly unhelpful and not at all customer focused.

Nice shop, very spacious. But I was looking for scones, and they were sold out, which was unfortunate.

This has to be the worst Tesco site going. Untidy badly stocked and the chiller where the sandwiches are stocked Is always dirty. They seem to relish closing the upper car park and the escalators are always being repaired.

It's just so big, tough to locate exactly what you need at times. Plenty of till options though and more choices than other local stores

Been shopping in this store this morning and coming down the escalator there were two Tesco employees coming up the escalator. The lady looked at me and said something to her male colleague about me wearing a mask. They both looked at me, shook their heads and carried on. Maybe make your staff aware that some people still need to wear a mask

Dishonest lying thieves. After not collecting a click and collect order, I was horrified to discover it had been collected. As this was impossible I asked by who and when. After being further lied to and told that they would check the CCTV and get back to me, this also didn't happen and the answer I was given was that all of the orders for that day had been collected. so despite me not collecting my order my order have been collected? When you phone Tesco online over the phone unfortunately you can't have an intelligent conversation unless there's an intelligent person present, certainly there were none present on the multiple times that I called. this is not the first time that Tesco have retained money when you've not collected an order. in fact it is an ongoing problem with Tesco and despite there being a very set process of what should happen many of their stores do not adhere to that process. it either makes them incompetent or dishonest lying thieves. I am currently at £184 down for an order that I did not collect and from a store that is ignorant and has dishonest incompetent staff and a company with its head so far up its own bottom it doesn't seem to comprehend the seriousness of this., thankfully my bank has now become involved in the money will be returned to me I won't be returning to the store.

Decided to try one of the new milkshakes in the cafe. Looked good, but very disappointing that it was full of ice! Surely that's meant to be blended up, never had a milkshake full of ice before..

I messaged Tesco Customer service about this store. They were very disinterested. Lukewarm reply. They have lost me as a customer in there now as it's generally unpleasant and annoyingly in there.

Ordered online from this store, the delivery just didn't show up. No contact to say why or apologise. They refunded the order but still charged a delivery fee for an order they never delivered 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tesco Extra is a large and conveniently located store. Good road access by car and on foot. A broad range of food, clothing, utensils and electrical items. Great selection of fresh produce too😃

Used to sell loads of technology and games and stuff now they moved it got rid of a lot of upstairs isles and removed a lot of the items they sold sad

Loads of choices from Tesco that you can't get at other supermarkets

The store is located in Huddersfield Road, spacious, well arranged and customer friendly. You find good quality products here at reasonable prices. There's three choices of payment - at the till, self service and scan as you go. ATM Cash machines available in the car park, you can stop for a cuppa at the café, coins machines available, the toilet facilities always clean and tidy. The store recently house other businesses like Gregg, Timpson (key cutting and screen repair), MAX The Photo Expert and Dry Cleaning. There's big spacious parking facility and taxis are readily available; you don't have to wait for one. Excellent. Well organised.

Worst Tesco I have ever had the misfortune to visit, escalators never working, mezzanine car park always closed, cash machines never working, can't get your shopping because internet shopping is priority, store and toilets filthy, nothing on shelves, some staff rude especially the one with the black hair dirrcting customers to tills as if the did not know where they were

Going into this store is now depressing. They have changed a lot of stuff around, the large monitors recording people as they come into the store and then down certain aisle is too much. The the staff at the till well the one that I was at was like a computerised AI who is forbidden to talk or hand you the receipt.

Only giving it that many stars as the staff there are amazing! Tesco on the other hand, not so 😑

The employees were rude the where soooo rude my mum was Bengali she didn’t understand that much and one of the employees huffed the shop was about close but we were in self cheak out my mum didn’t know how to use it and the employee just huffed

Large store always clean and well stocked. It's a nice touch how they have a help yourself fruit basket for the little ones whilst browsing round the store. They always have a good selection of clothing and I managed to grab a few bargains whilst in there on my latest visit.

I'd gone out of town to this store as I couldn't get my usual tesco dog dry dog food which I use as a mixer and my dog at 10 yrs old is particularly fussy as to what he will and won't eat. They weren't in stock here either. I'm disabled so travelling around isn't as easy for me. I saw a member of staff and took a chance on asking for help about the dog food. He not only found out they were still on sale in both branches but not due in for several days so obviously a stock issue, probably down to the lorry issues all supermarkets seem to be having. I was so very grateful for his help. Wish I'd gotten his name. He wasn't wearing a uniform but had a machine on him to look up stock so I'd picked the right guy. Thank you so much for your help whoever you are. X

Everything under one roof its pity about the pickers being everywhere when you are doing your shopping.

I was going to write a review regarding the terrible customer service I received in this store but I don't want to dwell on the negative stuff and prefer to congratulate a young lady called emmie who provided excellent customer service and went the extra mile when helping me out in store .she DEFINITELY deserves 5 ⭐

Well presented store, clean, plenty of choice, good bargains and friendly staff.

Tesco seem to be running some sort of 'data mining' scam with their discounts for 'club card' members only... Of course you are only entitled to these discounts if you give up your personal information to data mining operation that is taking place at 'Tesco'... Shouldn't there be some sort of law against this?

If it’s open until midnight why they close 25-20 min quicker? Many people want make a small shopping after work but of course can’t Tesco is closed 25 min faster 🤨🤨Most staff’s speaking with a friends a couple minutes when u waiting for your turn

Big store over 2 levels, large car park

The security people on the doors ARE NOT STOPING AND ASKING PEOPLE TO WEAR MASKS . Covid is a kiler and it says at the door no mask no entry . I watched three adults walk in and not asked and four people leaving without masks . They dont even look at the people entering they DO NOT BOTHER AT ALL .
