Lovely little pub right nxt to the canal the room was spotless reception staff were lovely and polite but most of All I need to give a massive clap to a certain couple of staff Danielle with her calm head when things got slightly rowdy She was absolutely run off he feet but still had time for a very nice welcome. Secondly I cannot praise the young barman on shift at night what a absolute gent really helpful and so patient he’s a absolute angel his mamma should be very very proud x

We visited for the first time for a family meal as a table of 4, and I am really not quite sure I would return. Firstly when we arrived we couldn't find out how to check in and find our table, after waiting a few mins at the check in desk that was behind a stack of chairs, no one acknowledged us so we wandered around and managed to find someone to find our booking and who sat us down. We had our menus and after almost 30 mins no one had come back to us, they had served other tables in that time. I went to ask how we order and was told someone would be with us soon and apologised as they didn't have enough staff on. A really lovely and friendly waitress came and took our drink order, then we waited for those to arrive and then our food order was taken, by this point we had been at the restaurant nearly 50 mins. All the meals off the menu were lovely, however, the carvery my Mum ordered wasn't, it was dry, hard and felt really old food wise, I can only assume as it was in the evening this was the reason. It also took my Mum a long time to be served at the carvery station as no one was there, and people were just meandering in and out of the doors didn't even acknowledge she was there. We decided to not have dessert or more drinks and settled up the bill, again a really lovely friend waitress came and took payment and happened to mention there was a big party on in the function room, so perhaps that was another reason that the service wasn't quite what I would consider even average.

I’ve never felt discriminated against in this country until my experience at this place. Being assumed to be an illegal immigrant just because I’m not British was incredibly offensive and upsetting. For me the Coach and Horses is is a fantastic location, being on the side of Rochdale Canal. You can see all sorts of wonderful fantastic and magical wildlife. Whilst at the pub I ordered some nibbley bits to eat, was served by “Toni” , Toni was a brilliant first staff member to be served by, knowledgeable regards the food on offer and the nibbly bits on menu . Toni showed me which soft drinks are on sale. Sat outside with dog. The young staff members that brought the food looked smart and both very friendly just like Toni. Toni came over to see our dog, she brought over a bowl of fresh water for him, which I thought was a fantastic touch. The food was very nice and tasty, the only thing I would change is the roast potatoes should have a rub on them maybe paprika or some for of chilli. Will definitely be back. Oh and a final thing, spotted a Kingfisher on the canal.

The Boat and Horses Pub offers a pleasant dining experience with attentive and accommodating staff. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and with more people than initially planned, yet the staff seamlessly adjusted and ensured we were comfortably seated. The carvery is enjoyable, although the beef was slightly dry. The selection of vegetables is somewhat limited considering the price, but the option to help yourself to as much as you want, even going back for a second plate, is a nice touch. In terms of value for money, it's fairly average. While the sea bass main was delicious, the portion size was on the smaller side. Overall, the Boat and Horses Pub provides a decent meal with good service, but there are areas that could be improved.

Easily the least appealing carvery I've ever seen. The meat looks like it's all precooked for the day and kept in a heated box. So even when it's fresh out the box it's already dry and overcooked. All the potatoes were drowning in oil and overcooked. The Veg was also so overcooked all colour and flavor had been leached from it and left out for so long it was practically fused to the dish. The carrots in particular were a disaster. Left out under a heat lamp for so long they had crustt white edges. Do you know how long that takes? The gravy was good, I'll give them that. Also, a member of the waitstaff was dressed in workout leggings and a very casual t-shirt. Hardly a professional image. Based on the other reviews, this may have been an off night but it was wayy off.

We didn't have a great experience the 1st time round and left some honest feedback...Danielle and Nikki both got in touch with me to see if they could rectify the problem...which they did and we visited again. They were both very clearly upset that we didn't have a great time. The food the 2nd time around was incredible, as was the service. They acknowledged we didn't have a great first visit and couldn't apologise enough. I don't believe the level of service we received the second time was because we complained, i do believe that this is their usual high standard! The chef also came to see us to ensure everything was okay with our meals, which again, was very much appreciated! We were a large party and almost all of us ordered a different meal, each and every one of them were spot on! We also stayed for dessert this time too, which again was delicious! This 'pub with rooms' is exceptional. The rooms are very good hotel standard with enough sockets to light up Blackpool. The pub does terrific breakfasts til 11 am and a lunch/dinner carvery daily, plus a good bar menu but it is the staff that make this oddly placed venue - between a Costco, a four lane bypass and a canal - an absolute joy. If there is such a thing as Northern Hospitality then someone bottled it and poured it over the Boat and Horses. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We are future out of town house buyers and have stayed here many times at the boat and horses. Sadly, it’s gone down hill over the last 18 months., On this occasion at 8:30am the poor quality of breakfast ingredients, the counter display of barely warm food (cold dried up scrambled egg and hard to cut into the sausage). Was and looked disgusting, certainly not appetising. The staff were helpful in offering to change any breakfast item we wanted. But we had to keep and attend an appointment.

Staff in hotel & pub are very helpful & friendly. The Boat & Horses pub/restaurant has a good selection of meals ( including carvery) & choice of drinks, open till midnight on a Saturday. Some areas overlook the outdoor seating & canal. The rooms look like they do online, there’s a lift & door access security. Easy check in/out. Very dissapointed with both meals. Pulled pork and BBQ dice was OK, but the chips were really hard, like they hadn't been vibes long enough. The fish on top of the cops was the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen. About 4inches long and 3 inches wide!! A friend had recommended the carvery, which was why we went. We had the large carvery (£11.95 standard £14.95 large) and usually these type of places with a carvery are a bit rubbish but this one was actually really nice apart from the uncooked pigs in blankets. Theres a good amount of parking but the only annoying thing which is no fault of the pub, is that it takes a while to get out and sometimes in because of all the costco traffic

Very fast and efficient check in. Very helpful at check in desk when I enquired about local shops. Room clean and welcoming with a comfy bed. Hair dryer and iron/board provided. Tea and coffee provided in the room. I had a bathroom with bath and shower, again both very clean and good pressure in the shower. My room was at the back looking into the canal. Very quiet and had a good sleep for both nights. I travelled for business and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Overall a pleasant stay

Nice clean rooms with adjacent pub. Hot chocolate as well as the usual tea and coffee in the rooms is a nice addition.

We have bought bar stools and lighting from this shop recently and whilst some of the lighting was not trouble free the attitude and action of the staff on all departments was exemplary - pleasant, and helpful. We can't praise them enough and will be buying from them again. And the coffee is good !

Called in for the fresh carvery today.Freshly cooked gammon, but when I asked for some gammon, I was served with some which was hidden behind the fresh joint. Not fresh,a different colour to the fresh joint.I thought the idea of Toby carvery is that you see the fresh meat carved in front of you.Spoke to the manager and he said he would check about what I said and walked off and served someone else.Very unprofessional for a manager.

Ordered four fish & chip meals in addition to two other choices. All four were served up with overcooked chips many of which were dark brown and crispy. Two members of party did eat the chips. Fish was excellent but chips spoiled what should have been a nice family meal. Nowhere near H U normal standard.
