Went out for a meal and took my daughter. We had a lovely meal and had excellent customer service from out waitress Lisa Brown, very polite and friendly, will be coming back again :)

I stayed for 3 nights as i was undergoing some training in the Area. The staff were very helpful and happy, although the front desk was not manned constantly as the staff also work in the restaurant there was a number on the desk and as soon as you spoke to someone under a minute wait 👍. My room was of a very high standard and was comfortable, my only gripe was when booking the room choice is 2 single beds or 1 double. The double bed option which i chose was in fact just 2 single beds pushed together with a double duvet and mattress cover, annoyingly this left a very solid part in the middle of the bed which was uncomfortable when you bare weight over it when moving around in the night, this may not bother most people but as i have a back condition a comfortable bed is paramount. The bed was very comfy and the bedding was of high quality. The optional extra breakfast was extremely good value, it was your typical cooked full English with continental option, not greasy and the taste exceeded the pricing. Wifi coverage was great along with the ample free parking. Most important when staying at a hotel, as im a professional carpet and upholstery cleaner there is not much that i miss 🤣🤣. The bedding was prestine even to the point no stains showed up under a UV light, again the bathroom was immaculate, very quick hot water and a bath which is always a bonus. The room was cleaned every day i was there to an extremely high standard and even the carpets in the room and the hotel were clean. If I'm ever back in this area for business or pleasure i will be rebooking a stay, the picture i have added is to show that the 2 beds were pushed together and i had moved the bedding, this bed was made up for me every day. A cozy pub by the motorway and Costco, with a lazy river flowing by. Always had great service and has a vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend

I have been going to this place for some time, and this review is from the last time I went, and it only reflects the food side my wife and I went on 10th jan mid day my wife had the stake and ale pie whilst I had the go large carvery unfortunatley i think that the vegetables were either reheat or were never cooked right in the first place the Brussels sprouts and carrots and peas were uneadable rubbery like the joke eggs that you get but don't let this put you off its still a nice place to go they must of been having a bad day that day

Been here for Xmas dinner for the last 3 years. Food and staff are always great and it’s a lovely venue. This year, Danielle went above and beyond to accommodate one of my guests with special dietary needs - thank you so much, and see you again next year.

Great hotel, friendly helpful staff, amazing food

We had a family meal for 6 people on Sunday the 15th December. The restaurant was very nice with Christmas decorations and pleasant Christmas music playing. We were welcomed upon our arrival and taken to our table. We ordered drinks and all decided to have the Carvery. The restaurant wasn't full but just about right, there were no queues at the Carvery counter. The food looked excellent, and we all got served quickly. I must say on behalf of everyone on our table how good the food was, it was perfectly cooked, the meat was tender and juicy. The service at our table was incredible, our glasses were never empty. Now we would all like to say a really big thank you to Nikki the restaurant manager, You really made our visit one to remember. A massive thank you from everyone in our party. Please give the Boat and Horses a try, the food is absolutely scrumptious. Just one issue, there was a very loud drunk lady singing and swearing loudly. It didn't bother us but there were children in the restaurant and nothing was done about it. Other than that tiny issue that the restaurant had no blaim for, we all had a fantastic meal, we will be definitely continue going back soon.🙂

Popped in for a late lunch after dropping our son off at uni. Can't comment on the rooms, as we did not stay. However the food and beer were excellent.

Great value for money and excellent breakfast included. Staff are busy, but always helpful and polite. Food was lovely. Definitely recommend.

Huge thanks to the Manager Nicki as we were welcomed back for a complimentary meal following some issues previously. All factors was rectified. Food was 10/10 excellent service. We usually go here twice a year as. Family get together and will continue to do so after this last experience. Thankyou

The bar staff, catering staff where all superb. My wife & i are both disabled and every need was looked after. The staff including Danielle ( Great Lady) really cared for us. When you are disabled all the help we received @ B & H is so gratefully appreciated. Boat & Horses is a top pub with superb staff. I highly recommend stopping here.

Large bar,plenty of indoor & outdoor seating ,good choice of food plus carvery.

This room was excellent value for money. Whilst the sofa bed wasn't the most comfy I think you'd be hard pushed to find something better value for money for a family of 4. Perfect for a short stay. The room was clean, the staff were helpful and it was a perfect location for us to visit our family.

Had our works Christmas meal here on Sunday 15th December. Food and service was excellent. The evening was ruined by a loud mouthed woman who was shouting and swearing obviously had too much sherbet. The staff didn't do anything about it even though children were present

Overpriced for standard food and drink

I visited this for breakfast only. I haven't stayed here. The food is nice and lovely and hits the spot. The only downside I found is the traffic going to Costco next door at times can be a bit congested when getting in or out of the car park as they share the same entrance road. There was a lovely outside seating area which overlooks the canal Which is a pleasure in summer.

Biker support Manchester had our Xmas do here today and we had a really enjoyable day and would recommend the boat and horses, the staff and environment is amazing couldn't ask for more

Booked a 2 night stay & from checking in to checking out it was a lovely 2 night break. Only downside was it's on a busy main road junction with a Costco behind it but we gave ourselves an extra 10 mins to get to an event. I also think the hotel should look into some EV charging for future proofing, not a deal breaker as there were a few chargers less than a half mile away. Food in the restaurant next to hotel was good hearty keep you going for the day food & not overly priced. Will definitely be looking to stay here again if we visit Manchester again ..

Good food, reasonably priced, dropped in after an accident turned the M60 into a car park. Although, the drains need sorting, both the toilets and sinks drained water really slowly.

Lovely pub, very busy when we visited, but that didn't stop the service, you order food yourself at the bar and give a table number then after about 15 mins food arrives, well presented and hot. There seemed to be quite a good number of staff around working hard to keep things flowing. No issues from me at all.

Very nice friendly hotel with nice room . I forget my teddy bear 🧸 in the room 😢 and phoned up the hotel afterwards and very friendly man spoke to me and found my bear and will keep til I go to pick it up . All these little things count 🤗

Good hotel and a real bonus being attached to the pub. ...... fully recommend the carvery. Can be busy getting in and out of the hotel carpark due to an exceedingly busy Costco next day.

Great welcome,lovely spacious room,spotlessly clean.Handy for the airport. Breakfast was buffet style,but everything was hot and delicious. Choices were numerous.

Booked last minute while visiting relative in nearby hospital. Excellent value. Large, clean room, decent food at good prices and GREAT staff. Felt very safe here as a female on her own. Will recommend.

We had such a good experience with this place. We had a family room and it was immaculate, really good value for the money. We went to the restaurant for dinner and had the carvery which was fantastic for under 13 quid. The staff are fantastic, we spoke to Pam who was serving food at the carvery, she was adorable and we also had the lovely Bethany who was serving us, what a character! She was a joy.

Went for carvery last night. Meat dry and tasteless. Potatoes. Parsnips and Yorkshire puddings were rock hard and the stuffing was so overcooked you could have broke your teeth. The same food was still there an hour and a half later. Also the server cut my yorkshire pudding in half as me and my partner was sharing one and he used his hands with no gloves. I did complain and got a refund for my carvery but overall a bad experience.

Lovely pub with delicious carvery. Went on Sunday at 6ish and there were only few people, the food was hot and tasty, not too expensive and the staff very kind. I would definitely recommend it

Met my now beautiful lady here over 18 years ago ( still happily in love) went for a pub lunch chilly steak baget couldn't fault it was worth every penny and very filling no skimping fresh hot and will definitely return 😋 close to motorway so great location ,j,w lees brewery

Lovely little pub right nxt to the canal the room was spotless reception staff were lovely and polite but most of All I need to give a massive clap to a certain couple of staff Danielle with her calm head when things got slightly rowdy She was absolutely run off he feet but still had time for a very nice welcome. Secondly I cannot praise the young barman on shift at night what a absolute gent really helpful and so patient he’s a absolute angel his mamma should be very very proud x

Spent 5 nights at the hotel while visiting family. The rooms are spotless and beautifully decorated. The breakfast over in the pub was tasty and well presented. Would recommend

We visited for the first time for a family meal as a table of 4, and I am really not quite sure I would return. Firstly when we arrived we couldn't find out how to check in and find our table, after waiting a few mins at the check in desk that was behind a stack of chairs, no one acknowledged us so we wandered around and managed to find someone to find our booking and who sat us down. We had our menus and after almost 30 mins no one had come back to us, they had served other tables in that time. I went to ask how we order and was told someone would be with us soon and apologised as they didn't have enough staff on. A really lovely and friendly waitress came and took our drink order, then we waited for those to arrive and then our food order was taken, by this point we had been at the restaurant nearly 50 mins. All the meals off the menu were lovely, however, the carvery my Mum ordered wasn't, it was dry, hard and felt really old food wise, I can only assume as it was in the evening this was the reason. It also took my Mum a long time to be served at the carvery station as no one was there, and people were just meandering in and out of the doors didn't even acknowledge she was there. We decided to not have dessert or more drinks and settled up the bill, again a really lovely friend waitress came and took payment and happened to mention there was a big party on in the function room, so perhaps that was another reason that the service wasn't quite what I would consider even average.

Only went to the Boat and Horses for a meal. The food was excellent and well served.My friend had a vegan meal and I had a gammon and both enjoyed our meals. Reasonably priced. Will definitely come again.

I’ve never felt discriminated against in this country until my experience at this place. Being assumed to be an illegal immigrant just because I’m not British was incredibly offensive and upsetting. I have no problem showing my ID when needed, but the way I was treated was unacceptable. I won’t be coming back.

Food was pleasant, there's plenty of room to sit outside on a sunny day that looks over the canal, and there's ample room on the inside, prices are average and it was extremely busy.

From check in to breakfast the staff were efficient and friendly The rooms although basic were clean and functional I would recommend this hotel

For me the Coach and Horses is is a fantastic location, being on the side of Rochdale Canal. You can see all sorts of wonderful fantastic and magical wildlife. Whilst at the pub I ordered some nibbley bits to eat, was served by “Toni” , Toni was a brilliant first staff member to be served by, knowledgeable regards the food on offer and the nibbly bits on menu . Toni showed me which soft drinks are on sale. Sat outside with dog. The young staff members that brought the food looked smart and both very friendly just like Toni. Toni came over to see our dog, she brought over a bowl of fresh water for him, which I thought was a fantastic touch. The food was very nice and tasty, the only thing I would change is the roast potatoes should have a rub on them maybe paprika or some for of chilli. Will definitely be back. Oh and a final thing, spotted a Kingfisher on the canal.

Looks lovely place, some staff have no social or customer service skills unfortunately I ordered the beef flat bread…asked if it was crispy beef was told yes…it wasn’t it was just chopped beef chewy I couldn’t eat that went back ordered some crispy beef and was left waiting over half hour so left. I told them it doesn’t matter about the beef I’m leaving just said “ok” the chips were re fried and extremely terrible. Just all round bad service and bad food. Will not be returning!

Went family meal. Ordered chicken salad. Came with overcook chicken slab and loads of bacon piled ontop and loads of lettuce, hardly any potatoes. Checked menu and bacon wasnt even included!!?? I don’t even like bacon!! Very disappointed! And don’t tell me you have new chef as that’s what you replied to someone else two months ago!

Myself and daughter called into the bar for a drink and food before seeing Kings Of Leon. Lovely place, great food and our server Amanda was fab. It was a great place to start a great evening.

Lovely hour spent sat overlooking the canal in the sunshine. A bit of road noise but didn't spoil the relaxing atmosphere. Good service and food was good value.

We had Sunday lunch, really nice people and service, the carvery was a bit small and a fair few of the roast potatoes were black, not burnt, black inside. Unlikely to be back.

What a lovely place to stay! The pub and hotel is situated on the river bank, the staff from the bar to the hotel were very helpful throughout and my wife and I stayed in the hotel adjoining the pub, the rooms were excellent very clean throughout and we had a lovely nights sleep, we even had the breakfast which again was very well presented. It’s a very relaxed place to eat, drink and relax.

A great Pub with its own hotel. The Pub, was modern quiet, with a nice selections of ales. The hotel, was clean but basic, but everything we required. Would recommend!

The Boat and Horses Pub offers a pleasant dining experience with attentive and accommodating staff. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and with more people than initially planned, yet the staff seamlessly adjusted and ensured we were comfortably seated. The carvery is enjoyable, although the beef was slightly dry. The selection of vegetables is somewhat limited considering the price, but the option to help yourself to as much as you want, even going back for a second plate, is a nice touch. In terms of value for money, it's fairly average. While the sea bass main was delicious, the portion size was on the smaller side. Overall, the Boat and Horses Pub provides a decent meal with good service, but there are areas that could be improved.

Beautiful Hotel, lovely friendly staff. Lovely location. It does have a busy road nearby, but you don't notice as it is still lovely and peaceful overlooking the canal. And is good value for money with a lovely buffet breakfast to start off your day.

Second time I have called in to get a table think I would learn to book in advance lol still not tried the new menu or been in since the make over .... Last time was a hours wait amd now call on a Sunday again but little later 18.00 and told still have to wait 45 mins so didn't go in again

Overnight stay following on from a fanily wedding. Could not fault our stay. Clean well appointed room. Great nights sleep. Enjoyed £10 of meal voucher in restaurant. Great breakfast. Really great experience. Highly recommend

We stopped for a beer. We didn't know about this restaurant. A decent size with plenty of tables both inside and outside. A good selection of beer and food. Even though it is located near the highway and shops it seems to be a quiet and pleasant place, possibly because of the canal that passes by.

Not greatest of places but cheap and cheerful I guess. Nice big Yorkshire puds. Carvery a all u can eat so you should already know what your getting before you walk in the place.

Very nice food, good atmosphere and service. We did have to wait a while for the food but they were very busy as it was cup final day but the food was hot and very nice. The only negative was we ordered ice cream and when it arrived it had started to melt quite considerably had the ice cream been brought sooner I would have given it 5 out of 5

Sat by the smelly canal . My god I cannot believe the friendly service comments ! I stood at the bar ignored by the young female bar and the older blonde female who continued to ignore me and chatted between themselves ,then eventually the grumpy Viking wannabe served me devoid of and personality no thank you nothing . Another pub I’ll leave well alone Friday night and place is half full says it all, full ashtrays , sticky tables …. Plus the rats in the cracks in the walls near the fences on the canal wall are very appealing. Nah won’t be back

We stayed here to go watch a game at Old Trafford. Used Uber to get there, traffic was quite bad as expected. Boat and horses was lovely. Pub really nice. Room comfortable, functional and very clean. Breakfast was good.

The pub food was good & very healthy 👌. You could taste the healthiness of the fish & chips/peas I had. We all slept immediately we got home😂. Will definitely go back for brunch

We were here on Saturday 11th May for a meal for our son's birthday. When we arrived we were greeted and shown to our table. Within seconds of us being seated we were approached if we would like drinks.

I didn't try the rooms there yet, but I tried Bloody Mary there few months ago & that girl who mixed for Us BM made proper job. The Best one. Better than 'n Spain or Canary Islands. Maybe the best one in UK. If not then 'n Greater McR.

Eating at the Boat & Horses was great as there is a good choice of gluten free for coeliacs. Great attention was made when ordering by the staff to ensure gluten free was adhered to. The service was great & the food either ordered from the menu or the carvery is highly recommended. I will be eating there again & have recommended it to other friends.
