This used to be one of our favourite dining spots in Cardiff, but it has gone massively downhill since they got rid of the app ordering system. Now, dishes sit on the conveyor belt for up to three hours, and both the food quality and freshness have suffered as a result. None of the dishes on the belt were labelled, making it very difficult to find vegetarian and vegan options, which Yo Sushi was previously good at. The service was inattentive, and it was obvious that the restaurant was understaffed. We won't be visiting again.

Flies in rice! You tend to read some horror story reviews and think that won't happen to us but here's one which unfortunately did. Really gutted because this place used to be my favourite. Hyped it up loads to my girlfriend, finally got around to coming here and was shocked. The service was incredibly slow, the menu wasn't as easy to follow as I used to remember it years ago and worst of all I had found 3 dead flies in my rice!! It was only a small portion of rice, imagine how many were in that batch. It was utterly gross. Of course we didn't have to pay for the meals after that and I get it people make mistakes but that was unacceptable. I was left ill foe a couple of days following this.

Awful service today, my order was taken and then never delivered, the chap whom I asked where it was had no customer service skills whatsoever, very rude and unprofessional. Now despite waiting 20 minutes and the same orders to be sent to the people who walked in 15 minutes after us, my partners food ordered 10 minutes after mine was delivered within 10 minutes, absolutely shocking service and would definitely not recommend.

It is a disappointing and discouraging place for friends to dine together here. Only one UniDays code is accepted for every occupied table. Although each of us in the group on the table were paying individually and were making orders for more than £20, we were not allowed to use our UniDays code. Had we split ourselves up and occupied three different tables, we would have been able to use our UniDays code and get the free Geyozas each. Not a suitable place for University students and friends. The whole purpose of UniDays to support the University is nullified by this place. In addition, the service was really poor. The waiter was always in a hurry to leave the dishes and shoot off. Don't look forward to returning here. Very rare (V) options were being rolled over to the stations. We had to ask for the avocado roll and the cucumber rolls because it never got to reach our station. The Chefs were more friendly than the waiters and served with a smile.

We go here regularly since visiting not long after lockdown ended. The menu has much more variety now than it did back then. Staff are always friendly and the sushi is good value for money. The miso soup is delicious and the katsu curry is a go-to! The conveyor belt is a fun and efficient design that allows you to grab what you fancy, but you can also order in person.

Edit: recently revisted, and pleased to report the conveyor belt is back in action. Once again it is easy to select from a wide range of sushi as it gently ambles by. Proper sushi is also back on the menu and is decent quality. You now have to order dishes using a not particularly great online app, even when there are staff who could easily take your order. Rather than pick up dishes as they circulate on the conveyor belt, as used to be the case. Hopefully this will change as we exit the covid pandemic. It's sufficiently annoying for me to avoid the place until we go back to how it used to be. Limited sushi options, including some frankly odd dishes. There was one with a hefty sprinkle of dried onion, of the sort you would get in a Polish deli. Another had a surprisingly hot sauce. You have to ask for ginger and wasabi separately, which was weird. Yo sushi is convenient if you in town and fancy a snack. But if you are after proper sushi then there are other options not far away and that offer a more traditional culinary experience.

WiFi still terrible. Hard to collect Too good to go orders. The purple sushi rolls are awful, never get them. And the sashimi is cut way too thick. Other than that the sushi is great there, I recommend the kaiso seaweed and then hoisin duck roll. Most of the vegeterian sushi there are really good as well. (The moochi is awsome too. Heard they're doing lessons on how to make sushi, fantastic idea!! Will be trying soon!!

really disappointed, we had decided to pop in after we had been travelling all day. the restaurant was very quite but the three of us were asked to wait for a table while others were coming in without bookings and immediately sat. We weren’t offered any drinks and we had to ask multiple times to make an order and get water. The service was slow, after two plates each we just decided to leave. Trying to pay was difficult, we asked for the bill to be split in two and even that was hard. We had no servers greet us nor said goodbye. First and last time we will be in.

Love the vibe here! “Take what you want when you want” is a great experience and one I thoroughly recommend. It was so fun figuring out what the different plates were and trying new things I wouldn’t normally go for! I was nervous to try something new, but Trig who served made me so glad I did! He was unbelievably helpful and welcoming. Showed me how to order and made some recommendations perfect for my first visit. Even put up with me being very clumsy. Very sad as this used to be one of my favourite places to eat in St. David’s. Sadly the service has absolutely plummeted in the last year. The old QR code system was great - you could order what you wanted quickly and easily. Now, there is one member of staff that takes orders for the entire restaurant which is extremely slow and frustrating when you came in for a quick lunch. On our most recent visit, the host (without taking a name for the reservation) told us to sit in the waiting area. After coming back 5 minutes later the host took our name for the reservation and we were then seated. Sadly the host then never returned to check if we were ready to order so we had to flag over a different member of staff to take our order. A part of our order came fairly quickly but we waited over 50 minutes for one plate (ordered at the same time as the rest) and we had to ask a member of staff to check up on the progress (as we have had orders forgotten about in the past) the host was very dismissive and told us it was busy. This would be understandable except for the fact that customers who came in and ordered long after us received their food much quicker. The food is delicious but is quite expensive for the portion sizes. With the state of the new system and dismissive staff it really isn’t worth it and we won’t be returning.

We came here on Monday and received a Absolutely horrible service by one of the Asian looking staff member with blue hair. The rude unwelcoming attitude towards me and my Mrs ruined our entire anniversary celebration.. we came to celebrate our 5th anniversary as my Mrs loves sushi.. Never coming back again.. yo management need to train this person how to greet customers. The kitchen team members seemed very polite and helpful and checked back on us the entire time.

We were in the restaurant this Saturday. As we entered we spotted an empty seat and headed there. A guy with blue hair came shouting towards us saying the seat is already for someone else. The entire restaurant kinda looked at us. It was embarrassing and unnecessary. If we had noticed someone else of course we would have waited. Later another soft-spoken friendly guy named Johnson walked in and helped with everything.

Me and my friend went here to catch up, but the one server who was a lady was pretty rude to us. She rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed when we didn’t understand something. All the food was lovely especially the new pork dumplings. Although the cucumber salad was soaked in the vinegar for too long and went all mushy since it was on the conveyer belt. Prices are pretty ridiculous here too to be honest. They’re so high for no reason

I recently went to Yo Sushi in St Davids (as I do quite regularly!) and this is the first time I've had a truly bad experience. I was greeted immediately by a very kind man who offered me the choice of any free seat in the restaurant which was very kind. After sitting me down, he immediately bought me a drink and I was very impressed by his customer service. However, a couple minutes later another waitress advised him that where I was sat was usually reserved for delivery workers. This conversation was loud enough that I could hear it from my seat, with my headphones in, and I looked back at them and offered to move - but I was told that I was no hassle sat where I was. The same man who seated me then took my order, even though I'm pretty sure he was management and not a waiter. My actual waiter was quite rude and standoffish to me throughout my visit, clearly upset with where I was sat. At this point I had already offered to move so I felt like there was nothing else that I could do. This continued to be an issue once my food had arrived, even having to reach over the counter to where the food was being prepared to grab delivery boxes for the waitress! The food was delicious, however I was rushed through my entire meal by my waitress. She bought over the tablet for me to leave a review whilst I was still eating, and the second I put down my chopsticks she came over with the bill. I've never had such a poor experience in a restaurant before and it's such a shame as I do really enjoy coming here!

We have just come from here and had a terrible experience with one of your staff members. Upon arrival we were greeted quite abruptly and were told to wait 2 minutes for a table (not an issue) but he then failed to tell us to sit down as he was too busy talking to someone (assuming a friend as it wasn’t another staff member) and then seemingly got annoyed that we didn’t go over to the table. Once we sat down we were handed the menus and rushed to order but we asked him to come back once we had looked at the menu. It took him almost ten minutes to come back as he was still stood chatting to this person. When he did finally take our order, he just came over and went ‘yes’ rather than asking what we actually wanted. He then proceeded to get annoyed that we tried to order some items that weren’t available and tried to tell us that he had informed us of the unavailability upon arrival even though he had not. He did not have a name badge on (this should be a requirement) so i cannot tell you who it was. We would not return here after this.

Went today. QR code way of ordering has now been replaced with 1 person serving loads of tables and 1 person seating people. Waited ages for our food because the waitress got our order wrong then it was delivered to a different table.We were asked how our meal was but we hadn't even had it after half an hour. When it finally arrived, I was a bit reluctant to eat my vegetarian dish as I noticed one of the chefs had just handled chicken then touched my food. Couldn't order more drinks as waitress was dealing with another unhappy customer and taking forever. Not her fault however she just kept asking us what we'd ordered and looking confused on her ipad. The staff were very apologetic and nice though and we actually felt quite sorry for them. Gave up waiting for service and left feeling frustrated and cheesed off. Not going back again.

After being sat down, the server said he’d be back in a few minutes to take our drinks order, but didn’t even give us time to open the menu before returning and rudely saying “What drinks?” Fortunately we get the same drinks every time so we were able to order quickly. After getting our drinks we were fully ignored by staff and waited 30 minutes while everyone else were being seen to (it wasn’t busy) , even if they got there later than us, to get spoken to by a different waiter, who still didn’t look too pleased. The food was nice, but throughout we could see our initial waiter going the long way around the counter to avoid us completely!! I even made eye contact with him multiple times while waiting to order yet still got ignored and avoided! When getting to pay, we waited until I had to go up to the desk to ask for the bill and was told to sit back down. We were served this by the manager and when asking to take the service charge off due to having neglectful staff and having to wait 30 minutes to even get served she said “it’s off already.” With no apology or acknowledgment. The customer service in here is shoddy at best and a mood-killer at worst, and completely soured a Valentines Day date, with both of us just wanting to leave before even getting the food. I’m glad we got Unidays discount because no matter how decent the food is, the service brings it all down dramatically.

I have been avoiding Yo! Sushi for quite some time now because of one particular staff member who I found both lazy and unpleasant, as if the weight of the world was on her shoulders and she was doing any patron the biggest favour. To my delight she was not visible in the store so I popped in for a quick bite and was blown away. Yo! Sushi is back with excellent service, warm welcomes and delicious fresh sushi beautifully presented. Trigg took care of me and he is a credit to your chain with great product knowledge and excellent people skills. Will definitely become a regular again.

We have come here quite a few times and we really enjoy the food but the male server with the blue hair has been so rude to us the past two time we have gone. He’s been very short, told us we need to be a ‘little bit patient’ after they had served every table who came in after us and we had already waited 30 minutes for our food. He snapped at us when we asked about student discounts and overall he was so rude we left really upset both times. We gave the benefit of the doubt the first time but seems to be a recurring problem. He basically told us we either leave or be patient rather than apologising for the delay. I’ve worked in customer service and i would never dream of talking to a customer the way he was.

There have been some changes. No more water available on tap. There is no wasabi or ginger, although supplied when asked. Also seems that the prices have increased an awful lot, especiallythe drinks £3+ for a bottle of water. The food is still good for an occasional treat.

Horrible service. The waitress is really incompetent and unpleasant. Went for weekday lunch which was not a busy time at all, less than half occupancy inside. You wouldn't expect there to be a queue outside the restaurant but there were 2 small groups queueing ahead of me and it was soon obvious why. The waitress would take about 10 mins between seating each group - wasn't obvious at all why it took so long, she seemed to just amble around not really doing anything. So rather than getting a 20 min lunch that I hoped for, I got 20 mins in the queue outside the restaurant (the service is slow, but they're really quick to tell you that you're not allowed to wait in the nicer area inside the doors). The unpleasant experience continued once seated. Really slow verging on unprofessional service. Took a good 5-10 mins each time to get the waitress' attention. My drinks order was also forgotten about. Very put off from going back to this branch.

Nobody to welcome you. Easy to order food... we sat by the kitchen, and I could see the chef using his hand to put the noodles into the bowl 🤮... I tried not to complain about it.. my wife was waiting for her dish...arrived 15 minutes after mine and, once she started to eat, she found hair on her dish. So left the table, and went to talk with the manager. Explained that the hygiene was horrific, and she didn't care about it... She only said that the chef should wear the gloves. She took off from the bill my wife's dish, and that's it... I know it is a company, and the staff doesn't care to lose customers , but at least the minimum of hygiene knowledge is a must!!!

After 90 minutes the webpage CLAIMS food was delivered - NO food was delivered, rang them but its an answerphone. Tried reporting it via JustEat webpage but it wants me to email you a photo of what's wrong with my food. The doorbell has not rung and noone rang my mobile phone which they usually do. I assume either the driver is lying or else someone lied to them out on the street but there was noone outside the front of my house, I checked.

Ordered at 13:39 attempted delivery at 16:13 so over 2 1/2 hours later - and by then I was out. Yo! Advised me when I called at 15:12 that the food had been sitting for collection for over an hour. So by the time it was delivered it would have been cooling chicken for two hours m. It’s a health hazard 🤢🤢

Had to wait 30 minutes for our receipt which we had to go up and request after waiting. Green tea refill was also ordered and never arrived. What I can assume was the manager (not in uniform) went to figure out receipt and then had a phone call so we had to wait for her to come back. Another staff member who was clearly embarrassed on our behalf for just sitting in the restaurant with only one other table, attempted to take our order but did not know how to operate the system and had to ask the manager despite his best efforts. She tried to direct him while on the phone. When she did eventually arrive there was no acknowledgement or apology for the wait. A really nice night out left on a bit of a deflating note.

Food is usually good. I have twice been served rice and noodles that weren't cooked. It was rectified. I appreciate that after Covid the conveyor belt selection is not appropriate but I don't like ordering online and I find the menu boring and so much more expensive. What happened to the Tamago! Servers are really nice. The only problem I have is that in busy periods it might take a while to get drinks, or refills on the miso soup.

Ordered a classic catch sushi and sashimi, which was gorgeous. Also ordered the crispy squid but that was not good sadly. A few bits of sad looking squid drenched in chilli powder. Not crispy or appetising. The veggie yakisoba noodles were ok but small portion and overcooked to my taste. Maybe stick to sushi guys which is good. And to be honest was not impressed with sushi and hot items delivered in the same bag. So sushi was warmed up. Not great. 😬

Basically, don't bother going to Yo! Which was "Yo Sushi" before and was way better.Very rude manager. Food was below average.Oh, btw price has hiked up like it's like any other fine dinning,I don't know for what.I was shocked to see the price.I know there is an increase in price in everywhere but Yo! is like i can't even explain.there was hardly any food in the conveyer belt. I’ve said it before I’ll say it again this Yo Sushi is hands down the worse. The manager is not only unwelcoming but she is very rude and this is on more than one occasion. The food is hit and miss and the store isn’t always the cleanest. Please check your bill as they never give you the machine to look at and always add a service charge and you aren’t having a good service. If you want to complain don’t bother I’ve been on the official website loads of times through all social media and never get a reply.

The food was not impressed. I ordered sushi but there wasn’t wasabi, soya sauce and marinated ginger. I will not order anything from this place again.

Ahhh Yo! just isn't what it used to be. I think I still come to this chain restaurant for the nostalgia. When I was a child I remember my first trip to a Yo! Sushi in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre and it felt fun and different from anything I'd ever tried growing up in rural North Wales. They've rebranded in the last few years to Yo! and perhaps due to Covid, meddled with the format a few too many times. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Prices are extortionate for the quality (although it was always on the pricey side) and the fun elements like the little buzzer that made a noise and the water taps have gone. The food is fine but the choice is a bit MEH by now. The menu is clunky and the ordering format a bit confusing. Order by phone but pay the waiter? Or phone? Or shout across a room if there is an issue or you still haven't had your drinks. Why go to Yo! for a Katsu curry when Wagamama do a much better version in comfier seats? Yo fries are basically McDonald's chips with sriracha mayo. If it were cheaper perhaps I wouldn't leave such a scathing review. I'd rather spend that money somewhere that gave you either the right quantitve amount or quality to deserve the prices. I think my love affair with Yo! ended a while ago but I've kept going back hoping to feel what I used to when I went as child, teen, student. The only great thing about it was the company ❤️

I was stuck for lunch in work oneday and ended up getting some miso soup, Inarizushi which was delicious/fresh, & either fried chicken or shrimp & it was all delicious, hot and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend for a healthy treat In the office

The manager of this restaurant is an utter idiot. Third time now I've turned up, with the restaurant no more than 20% full for him to say it's fully booked. I've sat at a restaurant opposite and observed nobody turn up and it only get quieter. Don't waste your time and go elsewhere.

This is probably the worst Japanese sushi I ever tasted. Salmon was falling apart completely not fresh, the rice at the bottom is uncooked, still very hard at the middle. How could you fail to “cook” something is raw? How???

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences in the past, so I found today really disappointing :( the new system caused a shambles - we were told to ‘grab what you want from the belt’ or ‘order online and the chefs will hand it to you’. This new system DOES NOT WORK. The whole time I was seated only the same 2 dishes were circling the belt repeatedly, and the things we had ordered took ages to arrive- and without the joy of having the plates circle the belt and stop at our table. This part of the experience is what made Yo a unique place to go, why take it away?! Having the chefs individually search for each table wasted time and created a huge backlog of orders. Another change is you can’t pay online instantly as you order, and with everything else going on, we then had to wait a long time to actually get someone’s attention in order for us to pay and leave. I usually spend about 45 minutes at a yo visit, but this time was almost 2 hours and for a smaller number of dishes - I was reluctant to order more because of the wait times. I could see the people seated around me were all getting annoyed with this too. Has really put me off my favourite restaurant that used to bring me so much joy. PLEASE go back to the way things were.

Food was good, apart from the chips which were dire! Deliver was shockingly bad, I phoned more than once and promised it would be “5 minutes.” Over an hour late from the first time given and 30 minutes late from the adjusted time. Such a shame, because the food was nice.

Lovely rooms, this stay we were at the rear of the hotel, which was much quieter than our previous visit but no view, our room that time was at the front, much noisier but looked out over the high street. My one tip would be to request a bath mat for inside the bath - I slipped and fell getting into the bath. All the staff we encountered were lovely and really helpful if asked anything.

I had wonderful customer service on 8th Oct in Llanishen Fintans on Station Rd from Josh. He was polite, knowledgable and make lovely chit chat whilst I waited. Really felt like I was the most important person being served fish and chips that day. Well done Josh. You are an asset to the brand. 👏👏
