Yips in East Riding of Yorkshire

Service was very good but could maybe smile a bit more. Ordered set meal. C&S soup was fantastic, mixed starters were good with ribs, satay and prawn toast, mains were mixed. S&S chicken was good but the fried beef hadn’t seen beef and the pork and duck like salty water served with bland veg rice. Not a restaurant we’ll return to unfortunately but was busy enough.

What a fabulous restaurant. Came to Bridlington on a golf trip with 7 friends. Booked a table for 8 at short notice. The host was so accomdating and made amendmends for food allergies with no fuss and couldn't do more to help. All of us stated how tasty and fresh the food was. Absolutely delicious. Would 100% recommend.

Nice friendly restaurant, food good, portions a bit on the small side, prices average. One thing that I have noticed with chinese restaurants is that when you have say sweet and sour chicken in batter, they are tight little pouches, years ago they used to be as big as a £2 coin and when you cut into them, there was a big chunk of chicken inside. Now they are tiny, not just this restaurant but most that I have been to. Yips is worth a visit.

Called in here at 9.45pm on a Tuesday, we were the only people in but we're served very promptly. We had started and mains and the food was amazing. If you want chinese food in Bridlington this is the place to eat

Visit to Yips before a night at the Spa. Both the food and service were amazing. We had the banquet for two and they allowed us to switch a main course which was even better. Throughly recommend but with all good restaurants you have to book.

We were on a short holiday in Bridlington, so decided to try this restaurant. Between us we had tofu and mixed vegetable soup, wonton soup, beef with black bean sauce, duck in orange sauce and rice. All the food was tasty and the beef, in particular, was perfectly cooked. The only slightly negative point was that the food was served on plates, with forks and spoons provided. Forty years ago, when I was living in Birmingham, I learnt to use chopsticks with rice bowls at the better Chinese restaurants there, but this option was not offered here (IMX chopsticks and plates don’t work well together).

Excellent vegetarian food in particular. We had a take away banquet for 4 that with chips for the non rice eaters served 7. Big servings and tasty variety of dishes.

Starters were very nice, hubby had chicken and sweet corn soup, I had salt n pepper spare ribs. Hubby's main course, beef in blackbean sauce was nice, mine was szechuan chicken, chicken was cut into very thin strips ( not spicy at all, no chillis to be seen) tasted more like a sweet and sour dish. Both main course dishes were quite small portions. Probably not visit again.

Ambience missing from this place ,it needs to look more like an oriental restaurant and maybe background music. However, the meals were very good,had one of the banquets for 2 with starters and mains. All the food was hot and very nice. Staff were really good and attentive. Prices were OK £60 for two was acceptable for quality and service. Will definitely return.

Yips was recommended to us by the B&B we were staying in. So glad they did, it was lovely. Ample portions and very tasty. Will visit again!

Service was good but food was rather underwhelming. We had one of the banquets and both felt that the spare ribs and peking duck were so overcooked that the meat was very dry and everything tasted brittle. The fried rice was also very strange and lacked taste.

We went last night after a recommendation from my sister where she had declared it was the best Chinese meal she had ever had! Luckily for us it turned out to be the best Chinese we have ever had either! I'm a vegetarian and had the sweet and sour tofu and it was amazing. We will definitely go back next time we are at the caravan.

This really wasn't a good experience. Called for a takeaway. Placed order and was told it would be 10 minutes. It was ready in 4 minutes. So clearly not cooked from scratch. Chicken in black bean was ok. Salt and pepper chicken was poor, very dry. Chips were awful, not done. Egg fried rice, well it wasn't. Was more like packet tricolour rice. Cost £20. Can only hope restaurant diners get better.

What a find! This is, by far, one of the best Chinese restaurants we have ever eaten in. Fantastic service, food and ambience. I would highly recommend. If you don’t want to eat in they have a takeaway service.

Lovely food, salt and pepper mushrooms are a must! Only downside.. Service extremely fast, no break between starter and main so felt a bit of a rush.

Had a wonderful meal again, we went for our wedding anniversary. Only booked for one evening, but was so good decided to go the following evening. The food was exceptional, the staff couldn't do enough.

Ordered a take out for 2 of us. Food was ready to collect and remained piping hot when I got home. I was a bit surprised with the smallish portions and the chips were quite "scabby" and clearly second fried. I feel that freshly cooked chips would have been better. I think maybe eating in the restaurant would give a better experience but my personal experience of a simple take away has stopped me from returning unfortunately. Pleasant response when I arrived and restaurant looked very clean and warm in temperature.

Had a takeaway for 8, all different dishes, couldn’t fault it, quick courteous service, all boxed up ready for us to collect and piping hot still when we got it home.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic, the food is top notch and heavenly and the staff are so kind and friendly. Best Chinese restaurant and takeaway in all of Bridlington. It’s that good when we go my husband orders 4 to 5 at a time to take home and freeze and they still taste just as good. We’ve even travelled from Wakefield all the way there just for a meal it’s that good.

Wow, just had possibly the best Chinese ever, stayed over for new year in brid, new yrs day takeaway, tried this place not really knowing what to expect, we had beef curry, and they made us mushroom in oyster sauce with rice/noodles/prawn toast etc. so good, even the noodles were superb, I can't fit anymore in, stuffed, I'd drive for this all the way from pontefract, that good 😋

Welcomed with a smile, no reservation but accommodated no problem, we had visited before, a good few years ago, had a great meal and decided to go back, did not disappoint - fabulous food good atmosphere and great service.

Visited yips 2nite after lots of previous visits and i sad 2 say the customer service was really poor take away was ok but the lady who served us was soooo rude she said they hadnt undersood our order ?? Whats all that about if they didnt understand it then ok but the woman was like the gastapo ......just no need soooo disappointed

Blunt or just rude? We were in a good fettle so decided to let the initial hostile “greeting” slide. Some of the food was lovely - the mussels weren’t so were sent back which prompted a visit from a lady from the kitchen. No apology but they did replace that meal. Shame but we won’t be going back for another confrontation.

Food was good. But service and good manners were strangely absent. The lady who served us was devoid of any customer service strands to her DNA. She couldn't even bring herself to say thank you when we paid at the end! There was a young girl who was probably a friend or family member was very pleasant the older lady could learn a thing or 2 off her. It's certainly put us off visiting again.

It's a stormy night in Bridlington and many of the fish and chip shops are closing but we need to research one that cooks chips in vegetable oil for my vegetarian partner so we decide that we'll do that tomorrow and look for a decent Chinese restaurant for tonight. We choose Yips based on it's website and reviews, phone up to book and then walk there. Chinese food is always a go to for us as you can always guarantee to get something vegetarian and this place was no exception. We had a vegetarian lettuce wrap for 2 as a starter and then a tofu & vegetable curry, a chicken curry, a rice and some salt & pepper chips. we even had a banana fritters & ice cream to share for a dessert. The whole thing, the restaurant, the greeting, the staff, the service, the price of the wine, the food, everything, was absolutely excellent from start to finish. It even turns out that the owner, who was really lovely is related to the owner of the Chinese restaurant in Scarborough that we've previously enjoyed. Thank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

had a sirloin steak, meat was nice and tender, the gravy was tasty when hot but not so when it cooled abit, chips nice but alot of almost raw onions which is why 3 stars, while waiting I saw the seating area it looked clean and food looked good

What a lovely restaurant. Not expensive. Attentive staff. Food which was served quickly, piping hot and very tasty. Couldn't fault anything. Would definitely return if we are in Bridlington. Highly recommended

Food was of poor quality, dried out, not freshly cooked, food appeared to be cooked in old oil. We had a buffet for two, had to leave after first course.

Quite honestly the best Chinese meal I think I’ve ever eaten.Visited with a group of friends and the experience was great from start to finish. Greeted by friendly staff who seated us straight away. Orders were taken promptly and we were brought drinks and prawn crackers whilst we waited for our starters. The restaurant was full so we had a short wait between starters and mains but I prefer this to feeling rushed anyway so suited us perfectly. All of us enjoyed every single dish we chose. I had a sizzling beef dish and the meat was so tender I barely had to chew it. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Just fantastic!

Absolutely fabulous food, both my wife and myself had the Fisherman's basket - squid, king prawn and scallops in a crispy nest, they were cooked to perfection. Service was exceptional, will definitely visit again.

Best place in Brid for a Chinese. Never been disappointed. Friendly staff and great location - right on the seafront opposite the Spa. Only concern was the social distancing as table are very tight together. Other than that, great.

We visited this exceptional restaurant as a family in July 2021, and I am really pleased to give this place five stars, as it is without doubt the best Chinese restaurant I have ever visited (and we have been to many). Do not doubt the quality of this place, just get in there. I do advise you book though as it appears to be very popular.From the outset we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly owner, and given a nice table with a revolving “lazy Susan” centre. And from that point onwards it just got better and better. There were four of us and we started off with two set mixed starters. My wife and I had the seafood mix, and the prawns and squid were absolutely top notch, cooked to perfection and hitting every conceivable button. We then all shared half a crispy duck. Again, it was of absolute top quality, with a lovely hoisin sauce and the duck really crispy and yet not dried out. The pancakes were thin too so you didn’t find yourself getting too stuffed!Then we had a mix of main courses, with egg fried rice and Singapore noodles. Speaking for me and my wife we had sweet and sour pork and scallops with mange tout, both of which were, again, superb.In short, every dish was absolutely spot on. It was for us a throwback to how Chinese places used to be, with the focus on quality rather than cheap tasteless buffets (which sadly seems to be more the norm these days). We ate every single thing, which says a lot as often there is a pile of food left over. Having said that there was plenty for everyone, with the portions spot on. It was as if it was all tailor made for us.Again, I have to say this was the best Chinese experience we have ever had, so if you are in town get yourself booked in. You will certainly not be disappointed and will walk out very happy indeed.

Lovely food. We called on the off chance and were lucky to get a table in this busy restaurant. Had starters and 2 mains to share. Special chow mein and char Sui pork, both delicious. Friendly staff and well priced. Would definitely go again when in Bridlington.

Came here with my family during our holiday and it was absolutely delicious! Service was second to none as well. Food was average priced, we had a variety of dishes, all were delish and service was very quick - no waiting around between courses! Would defo recommend and will defo return!

Visited 27/08/21. First time visit and won't be our last. Service was friendly and professional. Our food was delicious. Highly recommend the crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and sauce. Restaurant is on the seafront and right opposite the bridlington spa.

They fit me and my dad in twice with no booking even though they were busy, we soon understood why it was so busy, everything have eaten has been beautiful, the service was also excellent, we enjoyed it so much the first time we went back the next day was excellent

A real effort was made to accommodate our requested dining time, yet we never felt hurried to finish our meal. Food was fantastic, Dim Sum fabulous and service with a smile, what more do you want

Small portions for the price. Still hungry on leaving. Very disappointed. I had Crispy beef and my partner had special curry and we had to pay for our chips separately as they weren't included. Got just a bit more than a handful.

Been many times and apreciate that the pandemic has forced restaurants to diversify, however, I don't expect to pay £70 for an average chinese meal in a draughty doorway with a continues stream of takeaway service going past. We might as well have been sitting outside. Not impressed.

Although we did not have a booking a rather grumpy waitress showed us to a table and handed us the menus without uttering a word ☹️. The food however was plentiful and tasty.

Two stars lost - why? Spare ribs were not cooked... this is a big no in food hygiene terms Second star lost - as at the end of the day it’s overpriced and portions are small... in the age of the internet it’s also a bit stupid that there is no online menu.... + service with a bit more of a smile isn’t too hard... and goes a long way to rebuild trust lost during the pandemic.. Overall a nice meal cooked in a reasonable time frame but sadly can’t rate the overall experience as more than a little below average.

Staying at the South shore holiday village and fancied a Chinese.Went on TripAdvisor and this one came up as the best in Bridlington.Rang up and ordered, they delivered it within the time they said and it was lovely, really tasty, fresh and still hot.IWe both felt it was great and would definitely order from there agai.

Nicely cooked food , ordered sweet and sour chicken but received lemon chicken which was a disappointment but it tasted ok. All rest of meal was excellent though don't expect large portions .

Waited 40 minutes outside for it them they decided to not put my beef curry in so i had to go back and wait another 20 minutes.the food was cold and the food that wasnt cold were both descusting

When you really just want a Chinese meal this is the place to come After reading reviews on trip adviser we were not disappointed The COVID measures in place were fantastic and so was the food I had the hose special fried rice which was full of mixed meats and prawns and my husband had the chicken in black bean With fried rice which was lovely Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back

Wanted a take awy on our first night away and Yips was top of the searches and literally 2 mins away from where we were staying (opposite the Spa).There are signs up at the door asking you not to enter unless you are going eat in (and to wear a mask as you enter until seated) so we looked at the menu in the window and phoned the order through. Around 20 minutes later, we waited outside where the food was brought to us by a lady wearing mask/visor, paid contactless by card and went back to our apartment to eat. Very impressed with the adherence to the covid restrictions. The food was lovely, generous portions and piping hot. The quarter crispy duck was especially nice and plentiful, with duck left over after we'd eaten 2 pancakes each. The chicken fried rice was reportedly lovely with plenty of succulent chicken and my beef in pepper an black bean sauce was deliciously spicy and the rice soft and fluffy. It was on the expensive side, but worth it in my opinion. Would I go back - definitely and would also consider eating in too!

Had a delivery of food which arrived quickly,piping hot and of a great quality,a little over priced ,however really enjoyed it.

Good hot and sour soup and duck pancakes. Special chown was very average as was the chicken and hot bean. Especially disliked the payment options. ATM machine loaded with numerous large tip options making you feel obliged to choose more than you feel comfortable with.

Was staying in Sewerby and looking for somewhere to get Chinese takeaway from and found this place online.Found their Facebook page which had photos of their takeaway menu on so called to place an order.Went to collect it when I was told to and paid.Drive the ten mins back to where we were staying and the food was still all hot by the time we got back.The sweet and sour chicken was very good. Lovely small pieces of chicken in a lovely batter which had gone soggy in the sauce (in a good way!)The chicken chow mein was also good. Lovely thin noodles and plenty of pieces of chicken with lots of veg.The quarter duck was very nice, and seemed like a very big portion.The crispy shredded beef was really nice, as was the egg fried rice.The only real issues we had was the crispy seaweed (wasn't really crispy and didn't taste of anything) and the prawn crackers (some of them seemed burnt and were very brown and strangely spicy, and the rest tasted quite stale) and the vegetable mini spring rolls (which we only got 3 of)

The restaurant looked lovely, clean and well laid out but because of family circumstances we needed a takeaway.Food choices were good and the quantity excellent a real feast. Everyone in the family really enjoyed it.The folk running Yips were really nice and helpful too.

you need to book ahead with this restaurant as it was very busy. The table are a bit crowded together for my liking in the current circumstances. The service was a little slow- although the waitress took our order promptly the drinks and food tool a long time to arrive reflecting their busyness. We were sat upstairs which felt a little too harshly lit for dinner. There is a good wine selection averaging about £16.95-£19.95 a bottle. The food ranged from excellent to average dependent on dish - the really good dishes were the satay chicken skewers, crispy duck and beef and mushroom. Not as good in our opinion were the chow mein and sweet and sour chicken the chow mein was a little dry as was the meat in the sweet and sour. A nice meal overall but not consistent.

We booked a table for a family banquet and found the staff quite abrupt with poor communication and poor people skills. The food is ok but nothing special. The 'eat out to help out' post Covid-19 incentive scheme was not honoured even though we ate on a Wednesday. There are far better places to eat out in Bridlington.

Ordered takeaway twice from here, everyone enjoyed the food, plenty of it, tasty and a good temperature. Definitely a good option for a nice meal if you’re ever self catering in Brid and fancy a night off cooking.

We turned up last night without a booking, they were busy but were able to seat us upstairs and as soon as it became free down stairs moved us. They were very accommodating, the lady who served us was chatty and really sweet. The food was amazing, we ordered quiet a bit and because our eyes were bigger then our belly’s we took some home which was nice too! We will return and recommend to friends in Bridlington. My family and I ordered a takeaway the other day and it was delicious. Our daughter loves the crackers. Also vegetarian options on menu too. When collected, the staff were really friendly. Would recommend. Well done

Starters good, but put off by lack of social distance between our tables. Wife moved to my side to ensure there was distance. They didn't seem to be able to gauge bookings and where to put people within the eating time frame at safe distance. Main of crispy duck, slices with skin on weren't anywhere crispy. Beef in black bean very mediocre, no bite to it at all. Shame this is the only Chinese restaurant in Bridlington we could find.

We got a takeaway from here on Friday 28th. We were looking forward to it since our last visits.Again the food was good and tasty. However, part way through my House Special curry i thought I was chewing something long and stringy, but it was already halfway down my throat and I could not retrieve it. When I inspected the remainder of my dish I fished out a long black hair, about 10 to 12 inch long. (never thought of taking a photo at the time).My missus is blonde and I am bald, oh, and we did not make the food , so it certainly wasn't from us.This was the only issue really. Probably the kitchen staff need to take more care?

A group of 16 of us a visit for a banquet meal at Yips 1900 for 1930 start. Singles and Couples at a group rate of £15.00 each.(Paid for at the end of meal in cash or by Credit/ Debit Cards ) (excluding drinks that were paid for by individuals at point of sale) First came the bowls of Prawn Crackers, then Starters followed by Main meals served on hot plates. The mains included, beef, duck, prawn, Sweet & Sour pork and chicken and a large bowl of Boiled Rice. Most of us had beer (Alcoholic or non-alcoholic) some had wine and some soft drinks. Coffee/ Tea were served in place of dessert including an after dinner mint chocolate. Moist prepacked hand towels were provided to clean hands and face post eating.The staff were very polite and courteous. The service was excellent and the food served hot and delicious.This is the first time that my wife, Beatrice, and I have eaten at this establishment, but we shall re-visit again.

As far as we could tell, this was the only Chinese Restaurant in Bridlington (apart from take-aways) and often, when there is no real competition, your can get something sub-standard. Not so with Yips. The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient. Some of my local London Chinese restaurants could learn a thing or two from Yips. If ever I am back in Bridlington, Yips will be on my menu!

I put order over phone took over 10 minitues has the manager didnt know what she was doing!!! She told me be ready withing 10 mins. So my hubby went after 10 mins to go a fetch it he got greeted by the snotty manager who said i told you 20 mins my hubby said no you said 10 mins she then started raising her voice and said no 20 mins you can wait outside and i call you when it done!!! My hubby stood in the cold and rain for over 15 mins. He came back with the food we live across the street and the food was cold in the chicken fried rice they was hardly any meat same has in the foo yung. The prawn crackers was last nights batch done they was soft and dry and tastless. It came to nearly £25 and for what we ordered it was very expensive we wont be going there again we will choose somewhere different such shame has we used to love the place.

Opposite Bridlington’s Spa is a family run Chinese restaurant. I have been to this lovely restaurant a number of times and it is consistently good. The menu is just what you would expect. We had Banquet A for £23 per person. Three courses, starters, crispy duck and then three main dishes and rice. We began, of course, with prawn crackers whilst choosing what we were going to eat. Wine begins at around £15 a bottle. So good value and the staff are lovely. Happy ‘Year of the Rat’ when it arrives.

All very tasty and well prepared including Hot & Sour soup, Pancake rolls, seaweed, sweet & sour veg, aubergine/ tofu in black bean sauce, stir fried veg & vegetable rice. Highly recommended.

Visited here after reading reviews. There was a group of 12 and they managed to cook our order in 20 minutes. Food was delicious and I would highly recommend the special curry and bbq ribs. Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely return on our next trip to Bridlington

Absolutely perfect 9.5 out out of 10 bear in mind no one gets a ten from me .food red hot service why cant everyone do it like this.

We had a sit down meal one night and takeaway later in the week.Welcoming, friendly staff. Good atmosphere. The food here is great, I'd say the best chinese food we have eaten in a very, very long time. Everything was fresh, non greasy and presented very well. The special curry sauce has a good bite to it. Some good fish dishes on the menu which I will be trying next time.I can certainly recommend this place.

Managed to get a table for a Friday evening and wasn’t disappointed,lovely meal,very tasty and prices not to high

I ordered the satay chicken and my boyfriend ordered the chicken chow mein. We both absolutely LOVED our food, and the owners/staff are so attentive and friendly. Before they brought out our food they asked if we were sharing our meals and we said yes, so they brought out a little hotplate to keep our food warm while we shared. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Will definitely be visiting again when we visit Brid again next year
