Yippee Noodle Bar in Cambridge

Entered at 2:30pm on a Monday afternoon for the duck fried rice lunch (knowing they close at 3pm), and they provided kind and attentive service (no feeling of rush or as if we're inconveniencing them by coming in close before closing). The till/waiting staff member was very polite and I had other staff fill my water glass automatically. The kitchen is open concept, so the cooking fumes travel a bit and I opted to sit in the furthest corner away from the kitchen to minimise the amount of fumes getting into my coat/clothes. Would recommend for an affordably priced, comfortable Asian/Chinese meal.

Excellent place to eat. The food is delicious. The prawn toast and chili crab are really tasty. The soups are amazing. Service is friendly and efficient. Ideal place to either eat quickly or to be more leisurely. Recommend the lemon tea, very refreshing. Been here many times and always very good. Visited again, as good as ever.

Vegetarian dish was good but could’ve been a bit more flavorful.

Decepcionante. Aparte del langostino en tostadas, no terminamos nada más que hayamos pedido, probamos 3 bocados de cada plato y ya está , simplemente no pudimos comer el resto. Nadie vino a comprobar si todo estaba bien. Tampoco dijeron nada cuando se llevaron un plato de comida que apenas se tocaba.

Consistently brilliant food. I visit yippie noodle bar every week, the service and food are never less than fantastic. The staff are attentive and friendly and always make the extra effort to make you feel welcome. 10/10, can’t recommend enough

Very friendly from the moment you enter, they serve you quickly, it is a clean and pleasant place. The food is really very good, you can tell that the ingredients are fresh and of quality. Without a doubt highly recommended.

The atmosphere is family-friendly, and the service was very good! But for my taste, the seasoning in my order was too mild (Zha Jiang Mein). The other orders were delicious.

Over priced food with no flavour

Fideos sólidos en Cambridge. Sabroso pero no abrumado. Mis fideos eran buenos pero mis hijos pato Ramen era ligeramente soso. Servicio eficiente y buena ubicación. Limpio y amable

Overcooked ho fun, weird seasoning for fried noodles. And it is Overpriced, for such a portion of ho fun and basic atmosphere, it cost 19.5 pound. Will never come back again

Mi familia ha venido a Yippee desde antes de que yo naciera, y todavía me encanta cada vez que voy al restaurante o pedir comida para llevar. De niño siempre tuve los fideos simples, restar verduras, añadir pollo. Siempre fueron complacientes con mis gustos exigentes que afortunadamente se han ampliado desde entonces! Durante un tiempo fui un gran fan de sus fideos Yippee, pero desde que me hice vegetariano tengo que gritar la soja ho fun y el zha tofu. Pero todo mi amor va a las galletas gigantes indonesias. Realmente una de mis cosas favoritas que he comido - tenemos que pedir 2 porciones en una familia de 4 aunque son enormes porque yo mismo como un plato entero. La comida aquí es muy rápida y cocinada fresca ante sus ojos, siempre con un montón de verduras frescas. Gran menú sin ser abrumador, a veces solo tenemos un montón de entrantes y lados y no les importa en absoluto. Tal vez un poco caro, pero he pagado mucho más por mucho menos en otros lugares. También se divierten con bebidas y postres, siempre tenemos té de jazmín que los atentos camareros recargan con frecuencia. Aunque rápido nunca nos hemos sentido apresurados o presionados para salir. Hemos venido a Yippee por muchos cumpleaños y celebraciones a lo largo de mi vida, y sé que siempre volveré cuando esté en Cambridge. La única mejora sería una salsa vegetariana Yippee!

Yippee is fine, good choice, the food is tasty and quick. But they have raised their prices several times now, and now main dishes are approaching 20 quid each, which for Chinese canteen is waaay too much. Everything needs to be 5 quid cheaper, and then it will be rammed and busy again. I get it that costs went up, but it feels like they are passing 150% of the rises to their loyal customers- hence it's half empty now even at lunch.

The wonton noodles soup is the best but I don’t like the spring rolls

First time here. Enjoy Fryed Squad, Tampa Shrimp, vegetable roles, and Yippee noodles. Enjoy the atmosphere and will be going back.

Bland food, staff didn’t inform customers about allergens - I.e. chilly sauce has fish sauce in it. Overpriced too!

Always love Yippee! Very much a firm favourite! I'm not usually a fan of the bench set up but the food here is so good, you don't even notice anyone else. Service always fantastic.

This is a truly authentic noodle bar full of customers from across the globe including lots of Chinese and with Chinese chefs and waiting staff. We love it here the food is always delicious and it comes quickly

Nice size and cheerful, relaxed atmosphere. Just pretty pricey for what it is, especially if you're on a student budget. Friendly service, despite the slightly weird lack of water jugs - you'll be given a glass of water which is then refilled randomly. Food was nice and there is a good range of choice (including for veggies), but the pricing is just too high. Especially considering the place's proximity to city centre and therefore so many colleges and student accommodations, there should at least be student discount. We were charged around £9 for a very small dish of around 5 pieces of chilli squid, with a tiny dish of sauce that barely lasted. Soups are really yummy but, again, too expensive. The cheapest one is wonton and is around £13, for which i was expecting a portion far bigger than the medium bowl I got. Overall: nice, cheery experience, but the bill was over £50 for two people without drinks.

The restaurant has a very good reputation for providing a decent meal. However there is literally no appropriate seating for people who are overweight. The benches provided are small and are screwed into the floor so it cannot be adjusted for larger body sizes. I tried to sit down on one of the stools and I was extremely uncomfortable. So much so that I had to leave. They may want to consider getting alternative seats or unscrewing them from the ground. . Have given two stars because I didn’t get opportunity to eat food but seating is arguably discriminatory

It’s criminal this place is not more popular. I’ve never seen a place pulls off Asian fusion so well, featuring noodles from Japan, China, Singapore, etc. I’ve been here several times and every time I order something new it’s phenomenal. Moreover it’s not too expensive. If you are in town you can’t miss this place.

Food is OK. Very pricey for what it is. I used to go there as a student and it was affordable, now just overpriced.

Not the best ramen I’ve ever tried…

Noodle dishes were glossy, but not floury. “Yippee sauce” was a potent take on hoisin, made in-house, and enriched with the cooking liquid from beef brisket. Ingredients were super-fresh (the flecks of coriander whizzed up in our sesame prawn toast were still bright green).

If the soup is not hot enough, you can add soup (hot water)

I’ve only tried the Hakka noodles 🍜 (£14.65 Feb 2024) I love the broth. I think it’s chicken-based with peanuts. It felt quite creamy! 😋 A very smooth taste. The pork meatballs are very nice as well. The noodles are perhaps too soft, but it does say they are soft noodles in the menu.

I always try and pop in here for a late dinner when I'm in a rush. The food is always excellent and fresh and the service is top.

Great eating in experience for a chilly January, the seating area is bright, clean and spacious. Ordered lunch menu A, duck fried rice, at £9.5. Very satisfied with quality and serving speed. Great value for lunch.

Lunch Time Meal Saturday 30 December 2023 My sister had invited a friend to the restaurant, to eat with us and as it was her friend's first visit to Cambridge, my sister explained to her friend that both of us eat there regularly, and have done so for a long time, so as we all arrived, we went in and were seated. We all ordered as a starter three dishes of spicy squid, which was stir fried, in light tempura batter with fresh garlic, chilli, and spring onion, and three large prawn crackers. Our Mains were three dishes of Yippee Noodles, with thick noodles, fried with prawns, roast pork, chicken, onion, and bean shoots topped with Yippee sauce. Our desserts were Banana Fritters in sesame seeds, with vanilla ice cream and syrup. We all enjoyed our meals very much. particularly my sister's friend, so much so that she said that the next time that she comes to Cambridge, she will bring her husband.

I ordered the Hakka noodles and was rather disappointed. The broth had zero flavour, just water. The prawns were also dirty. I ordered some of their house sauce to give some flavour but it wasn’t worth it in the end. I don’t know if it was just because they were very busy and didn’t check what they were sending out, but I just paid and left almost all my order there. Paid 15+ for water lol Disappointed, it sounded so good on the menu…

I live in Asia and imo the food here is good for what I would expect in the UK, especially for the price. The service was also excellent. The restaurant is a bit cramped, imo, but not a big deal. A good place to get decent Asian food in Cambridge.

i love this place, a little gem in cambridge. i've been going here since i was 4 years old. the food is amazing every time and the service is great :) a nice little restaurant with amazing atmosphere, the staff recognise the regulars and remember their typical orders which speaks volumes for this restaurant !!! thank you for being amazing!

Great pan-Asian food, good ambiance (shared benches are cozy but dividers make it not too communal), and decent prices make this a worthy destination in central Cambridge. Just off the beaten track, well worth a detour for the best prawn toast I’ve tried.

Very small portions. They have reduced their portions over the last months and increased prices. Quality was average. Not worth the money.

I often go there for lunch when I’m in Cambridge. I love this place; the food is excellent.

Ramen or any type of noodles have been a favourite for a long time and I really needed a noodle fix but not knowing Cambridge Yippee noddles was recommended. The tables and bench seats are bolted to the floor and are extremely uncomfortable.The won ton soup I ordered was tasteless, the broth was basically tepid water and at just under £100 for three of us it was very overpriced.

Foods is standard and price is fair. Over all good restaurant

Great little restaurant behind Sidney Sussex College, always friendly, quick service and tasty food.

Nice spot to stop and have an asian meal, but bit too expensive for the food quality. The service was ok and the staff were nice.

I’ve been a regular here for over 20 years. It’s great. The only downside is that it can get very noisy when busy. But that clearly hasn’t put me off!

The Zha Jiang Mian was absolutely terrible, they did a poor job in the sauce, the pork is smelly. And this restaurant is really expensive too. Definitely not worth it.

Food looks ok on the menu but if tastes quite bland. Almost all non-vegetarian dishes contain prawns so if you're not a fan of those - your options are very limited. Staff is pleasant though and I liked the relaxed atmosphere.

One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in terms of quality of food and price. I have been coming here regularly since I was 8 and never fails to disappoint. My go to dishes are the Spicy Black Bean Ho Fun with beef or the Authentic Sliced Beef Ho Fun. Try all of the starters too! Great service and friendly staff.

Best Chinese restaurant in Cambridge and one of the best in the city. The owner is taking care of everything usually, very nice family running the business. We love it!

Can't fault the food, very authentic tasting, lots of wok hei in the fried noodles. Everything freshly made and they're happy to do substitutions or remove things to make it suit you. Lots of dishes can be made vegetarian or vegan.

The taste is well adjusted for a diverse population. Asians might prefer stronger flavours, could've done better if offered different levels of flavour. Service was very smooth and warm. Staff are quite friendly and welcoming. Some cooking smell got onto the clothes, might have avoided if there's any partition or ventilation between the eating place and the kitchen. Had a nice time with mates!

Best noodles in Cambridge. The only place we've returned to again and again. A sure bet for a hot and freshly served meal. Super accessible, friendly staff, family owned! Sometimes crowded around graduations and end of term, but fairly easy to get seated.

Pretty expensive for noodles even in Cambridge. However what really stood out was the quantity and quality of the toppings here. The sauce was also very authentic.

So disappointed. I ordered the Zha tofu which was tofu with ‘bean sauce’ and got a small tub of hoisin sauce with some plain tofu. Just lazy cooking.

Very friendly and professional staff. I ordered Hakka noodle and was glad I could have Halal chicken to replace the pork. The noodle soup tasted excellent with a dash of chilli. Minimum waiting time. The amount of chicken and shrimp was generous for the price.

I tried the beef soup noodles (Ho Fun), both the soup and beef are exceptional. The environment and utensils are very clean, the best in the area. They even dare to open up the kitchen, which is so clean and tidy. Do spare little time to watch how the cooks prepare the dishes, you will be amazed how professional they are.

The place is super minimal, with long shared tables, but nice and clean...Super good seafood ramen

Veggie chilli ramen had no sauce just a few chillis thrown on top, crispy tofu also came with no sauce. When we asked for a sauce we got a side of siracha and soya sauce. Overpriced. Won’t be going back !

Yippies is a fantastic place it is my Number one go to when in Cambridge, it can get a little bit crowded around peak times which can make it a little bit noisy. But you can get giant prawn crackers (I would recommend having more than one person in your party if you order these, but they are really good.) And China town roast duck with unlimited green tea for about £20 per head. The service has always been quick easy and great and you'll soon pick up a favourite dish. The only other thing to mention is they are closed on Tuesdays, so do keep that in mind as I have forgotten that in the past when I've visited Cambridge.

Always a good meal here. Fast service so rarely a wait for a table. Favourite dishes are the Yippee noodles and the chilli prawns.

Very unassuming noodle bar tucked away a little bit. Good menu and nicely cooked variety of noodles and rice. If you like your asian very spicy you may need to ask for a bit of extra chilli (I suspect they tone it down a little fir the western palette! The owner is on floor and friendly which us always good

My partner and I came here for lunch after reading great reviews online. My partner ordered sweet and sour pork and I ordered roast duck soup noodle with hor fun. Unfortunately we were hugely disappointed. Both dishes lacked flavour and the roast duck portion was shockingly small considering the £16 price tag. We won’t be returning.

What a great find, located in King Street Cambridge. Not much to look at from the outside but inside the Yippee Noodle bar is something else. The food is absolutely amazing, great flavours and taste and good value. The noodle soup certainly ranks up there as one of the best in Cambridge. The Prawn noodles were wonderfully spiced, a great dining experience. The serving people performed their duties professionally and all with smiles on their faces. Definitely on our must return to list.

Best place in town for asian food fast service tasty fresh and served at good temperature kitchen right in front of clients We have been customer since 7 years and we never left hungry I wish the spring rolls were bigger and more generous portions to share same with other starters especially bc we come with family and friends. Perfect oriental food, served in a Japanese-diner style setting. Staff is welcoming and accomodating. They don't accept reservations, so would be better to avoid peak times. Never left disappointed!

I live right by Yipee Noodle Bar and have visited multiple times over the years. Always consistently deliciously cooked food and the staff are always very attentive and pleasant. Plus it's always clean! I can't think of any bad things to say about the place! If you are thinking of visiting I would say definitely do it !
