Came here for lunch with friends. After reading the reviews I had quite high expectations (probably too high). The place is large and busy and the dim sum choice is very wide. The food was good but not exceptional. Definitely more comfort food than refined. Service efficient but not present. Prices in line with the quality for the dim sum menu, the items from the normal menu are quite expensive (8 pounds for a portion of egg fried rice and 16 for a smallish portion of choi sum). Considering that we are not locals, I don't think we will be coming back.

Poor service - e.g : unfriendly and inattentive service Food arrived much too quick - hence it clearly wasn’t fresh. Seaweed was very chewy and tough / sweet and sour prawns dry and tasteless / ginger and onion prawn tasteless Egg fried rice was standard. Over priced for the the standard of food Only positive was the view Also had to pay for parking!! Would not recommend at all!! 🙏🏾

Lovely Chinese food in a great setting.

We ate the crystal prawn dumplings, pork and crab dumplings, shanghai dumplings(pork with soup dumpling), seaweed prawn roll, fried turnip paste, jasmine tea, mango pudding. The best dumplings were the pork and crab or crystal prawn. The service was good but only one time it was a little bit slow. Lots of people were eating the crispy cream custard bun, so that is most likely to be good. In total, our bill was £54

Good dim sum following Royal China’s relaunch in Canary Wharf was just mediocre.

Disappointing. The mains were cold like they came from a buffet. Can't recommend.

I love this place for dim-sum, one of my go-to places in East London. Incredible views with amazing steamed and fried dim-sum to order fresh.

Such an authentic Hong Kong-style yum cha spot — feels like where the locals would actually go for their weekend dim sum fix. Everything just tasted like home! The standout for me was the Crispy Roast Pork Puff Pastry — flaky, golden pastry wrapped around juicy pork… absolute heaven. I could’ve eaten five. The pork and crab dumpling was another hit — super filling, packed with umami, and just really satisfying. Honestly, everything was well made, fresh, and full of flavour. No complaints at all — I’ll definitely be back!

Personally, I found the food distinctly average. I had such high expectations because of the reviews but left feeling disappointed. We ordered from the main menu (2 mains, 1 soup, 1 rice). Maybe it’s the dim sum that’s nice, but we won’t be coming back for the food. We spent just under £60 for 2 adults and 2 babies.

Waited 4 hours total for food. Stuck in a table at the end of the restaurant and waiters forgot about us. Had to get up twice to ask a waiter to come. After ordering it took an hour for the food to come and it came with the table near ours that had just been seated. Staff were rude and dismissive except one person. The food was mediocre

My son brought me here for Mother’s day which I was looking forward to after seeing so many great reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the expectations. The ambiance was nice, and the service was friendly, but the food was underwhelming. The flavors felt lacking, and some dishes tasted bland or overly greasy. The ingredients didn’t seem as fresh as I had hoped, and a few items were either overcooked or under-seasoned. Given the high ratings, I was expecting something much better. And no cocktails were being served, they said because it was after 7pm that they’ve had a busy day! It’s Mother’s Day shouldn’t they have prepared for a busy day! While I appreciate the good service and atmosphere, the quality of the food just didn’t match the praise it received. I probably wouldn’t return, as there are other spots that offer a more authentic and flavorful experience.

Our family of six were seated after over an hours wait on a table at the back of the restaurant and forgotten about. After getting up to ask for service on two occasions we finally got to order 45 minutes after seated. Our food came after another 1.5 hours and was brought along with the tables who had just arrived. All together almost 4 hours later we ate. Food was not as good as normal and for £189.00 would have expected better. Just lost a customer

Take it from a Chinese person, this is good. Although it can get super busy during weekend lunches so you’ll likely have to queue for 30min or so.

Food was so good, went with some friends and were served pretty quickly and didn’t eat long for food to arrive. There is no free parking but a plenty of spaces for paid parking. Went on a Saturday afternoon and still managed to be seated straight away.

Highly recommend Chinese restaurant in London.

It's usually busy on a weekend as families come for dim sum. They do usual steamed and fried dim sum and other things like egg tarts. There may even be a queue. We came for a Chinese banquet and had part of the restaurant for this event. Shark fin soup, suckling pig and fried crab claws were good. Desserts were nice too. The chicken and abalone were a bit tough. Also had noodles, salted egg yolk fried lobster, fried fish and scallops. Plenty of parking spaces outside. You have to pay though. So, bring some coins or download the app and pay online. The location is just by the docks and just across the water you have City Airport. So, you can see the planes. It's close to the Excel Centre. Popped into Yi-ban for some dim sum. The service was super quick, and the food came out piping hot and tasty. It was pretty packed though, with a bit of a queue so make sure you arrive early, especially on Sundays. But if you don’t mind the crowd, the food is worth it!

Expensive but food is very good! Booking I think is a bit fiddly because they didn’t allowed us to book before 8.30pm and after 8.30pm they were fully booked.. but they did find table when we came and we didn’t need to wait. Service very good. Superb view!

We come here quite often for the Dim Sum, it gets very busy on Sunday but less so on Saturday. Last few years car park had be charged and it's fairly expensive.

Definitely worth visiting for their Dim Sums! You can also enjoy watching all the arriving planes to the City Airport!

This place was very busy so I would recommend booking a place beforehand. The ambience was good, staff were not too friendly (maybe because it was really busy) on the day however the food was really high quality, flavours were authentic and we were soo stuffed we were unable to have desert in the end! We would surely return for the riverside feel and great flavours.

Very high quality fresh food, my particular favourites were the Roast Pork Puff Pastry, Deep Fried Squid, Meat Croquettes, and the Cream Custard Buns. For someone that is rather fussy and particular with texture, I was impressed and love a visit here.

Like every year we come to eat here, but this year I have something on my mind. We have made reservations 5 times via their website and 5 times you arrive at the restaurant and they don't know anything about it. We always got a table, but something went wrong somewhere. And the toilet is really a disgrace. One smells it heavily from the stairs below. They are dirty, worn out and the walls don't look good either. Please do something about hygiene because I don't dare go to a toilet like that. But otherwise, as always, delicious food and friendly staff.

Best to drive here as bus and docklands rail involves a bit of a walk. Paid parking only but reasonable. Food was good, service needs improvement and atmosphere was lively. Works out about £25-£30 per head at lunchtime. Evenings is more expensive.

My boyfriend and I went here on a date, food was great, service was quick and the staff were kind, and the cocktails were so good, I had an apple martini. I’m coming back on the 8th of next month and will definitely be a long term customer.

Outstanding dim sum! If you're in the area, it's worth the visit: Better Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) than Din Tai Fung, in my opinion. Short walk from the Excel (less than ten minutes).

I loved the LCY view, quite a unique experience, dining while watching planes taking off and landing. The dim sums were also good, no complaints from me. We spent about £80 for 4 adults and had a sizeable meal!

Food is delicious, can also put requests in for dishes not on menu. Sometimes slightly too oily for my liking and too much salt.

Interesting location, especially late at night. The Bolt driver was a bit concerned he was bringing us to the wrong place. But don't let that fool you! Great food, large portions, and very quick service. Being right next to the airport and the water creates a great view, but it does get very loud.

My favourite dim sum place... Anywhere. This is a true hidden gem, well worth a special trip to go find. Make sure to have the xiao long bao!

The is okay but not as good as it was 5-7 years ago but then again i suppose it must be the change in food recipie and chefs too . Good Atmosphere good view especially in the summer times as its located besides city airport and service is friendly and okay.

overall it's a fun experience. quirky location best for drivers, overlook city airport. the garlic shrimp and fried squid were terrific, portions are great for sharing amongst 2, and food arrived in less than 5mins!!! the downsides : service was quick to take orders but slow to check in after (waited 15mins to pay). NOTE: dim sum menu is lunchtime only. we felt prices were too high ... £85 for 2 mains, 2 rice (£8 for egg fried rice, no meat???), 1 veg (£16 for pad choi???), 1 tea. no drinking, appetisers or dessert. i see loads of comments on the affordability but would err to say this is a £100 dinner for 2 normal eaters. £200+ for families.

Cracking Chinese. I especially like the Dim-Sum. The food is a lot better than Royal China, and about 2/3 the price.

The day after we ate here we got really ill from food poisoning. Such a shame because we thought the food was really good. The service is quick and efficient. We ordered the set menu, and we suspect it may have been the sweet and sour prawns that did a number on us. We are still ill as I post this.

Be aware there are two different menu is this restaurant- one which has a great selection of dishes and the other which is a reduced menu where the dishes are bland, uncaring and uninspired. We were unfortunately given the bad menu, but the other menu (with a brown cover) had lots of really great looking dishes written in both Chinese and English (bitter melon, eggs three ways, morning glory, crab and clams). Unfortunately we only found out about this menu from other diners after we had finished. In the dum sum selection we had the dumplings had the same filling in almost every one and we had to ask for vinegar, soy sauce and chilli oil, and my cocktail was warm. I think the dim sum service at lunch looks much better. Was excited to go here and left much poorer and very disappointed. Don’t usually write review but I would have liked this information about the two menus before going

I would give 0 stars if I could. Simply for the fact that in 2025 they do not cater to food allergies.they use the same oil all day which is completely unsanitary. If you are vegetarian or have any intolerance don't come here.

Came here for dim sum on a Saturday morning, they open at 11 but there was already a queue of people along the stairs when we walked in just a few minutes before opening time! We managed to be seated in the first sitting, there’s actually a lot of tables inside and you get a river view from all windows. Ordered the standard bunch of dim sums, I was particularly craving black bean chicken claws. Service was prompt, I have no complaints. Got what we ordered, ate and left. There was a small queue when we left so this place does get busy. Parking is right outside, pay and display or via app. There is lift access as well if you’re unable to climb stairs.

The staff were quite nice and brought everything out and put it all on the table neatly and filled our glasses up with water. The food was nice but I thought it was expensive for what it was.

Nice restaurant with linen tablecloths, very attentive servers, and a picture menu so you know what you're getting. I visit every time I fly into London city airport. The restaurant is on the second floor and the entrance is on the parking lot side on the east end of the building.

Recomiendo hacerse con el menú chino (tenía un color diferente), ya que es donde estaban los platos interesantes: una excelente olla de barro de pollo (servida en los huesos, lo que molesta a algunos) y un pescado profusamente especiado. The long queue at opening was a good sign this place was legit! Grumpy waitresses are also a right of passage for a busy dim sum place. The food was great and the view across the water to the LCY airport runway kept our young son fascinated throughout our meal. Be sure to grab a piggy custard bao!

This was a well hidden gem and so glad we found it. We were staying in the Holiday Inn and just a short walking distance away. The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. My daughter particularly liked it as it was over looking London airport and she could watch the planes landing and taking off while having her food. Would definitely visit again.

Doesn’t open on Sundays due to “private events”. Lady said they “don’t do Internet”. Best to call every time. Food is okay, some dishes good. The view is nice.

Visitado debido a estar en el Excel para un espectáculo y querer una comida local. Vamos por yim cha con frecuencia en casa, así que decidimos que valía la pena intentarlo. Era exactamente lo que esperábamos! La comida era muy sabrosa, bien presentado y salió rápidamente. Era un poco más caro de lo que hubiera esperado, pero en línea con Chinatown en el centro. Hubo una espera de unos 30 minutos, que estaba bien, pero las sillas colocadas en la zona de espera habría sido ideal. El restaurante también era un poco difícil de llegar debido a las obras en curso alrededor de la excelencia y Hilton - no los restaurantes fallan en absoluto, pero algo a tener en cuenta al visitar!

The food is not as good as it used to be, maybe is not made on the same day anymore or the chef have changed. It's a good place to meet up, but be aware that it's quite pricey too!

I've visited Yi Ban Restaurant & Bar twice so far, and it's the only option nearby besides hotel food. You will need to walk up the stairs to find the sign. The Chinese cuisine at the restaurant was impressive, not resembling typical fast food. The takeout vegetables were a bit overcooked for my taste, but the variety pleased me. Most of the staff were great but one didn't come across welcoming. I did need to ask for utensils despite ordering takeaway for the second time and there is only hotels around and hotel rooms don't usually have utensils in the rooms. The steamed pork was a standout, a unique twist, reminiscent of shumai without the wonton skin but with a salty fish kick. It's conveniently located 15-20 minutes from the convention center or a quick 5-minute train ride. Dinner around 8 pm tends to get busy, and the ambiance varies in sound level each visit. They offer dim sum alongside the regular menu, providing a classic Chinese restaurant feel. The staff's ability to speak Cantonese was a plus for language practice. The restaurant offers a view, but its visibility might be covered depending on the time of your visit. This venue accommodates a large group of people for events or gatherings. Overall, I had a positive experience and I recommend trying their big selection of food.

Located in a location uneasy if you do not drive

I've been here a few times in the past and it's never fallen short of a great experience. It's definitely a bit of a hidden gem, but absolutely worth going to!

The price has increased by 20% to 30% compared to last month, but the food is average.

Went as part of a group booking which mentioned there were dietary requirements. I was told very loudly "No, we can't serve you" when I said I was intolerant to gluten. It was unnecessary and blunt. This should have been explained when making the booking or I wouldn't have come. It was mortifying. Do not go here if you have dietary requirements!!!

Very decent Hong Kong style dim sum. I have been eating here for many years. Whenever I want dim sum, I come here.

Este lugar tiene mucho potencial pero falla en muchos niveles. La comida es promedio en el mejor de los casos y sobreprecio por la calidad. El personal estaba muy ocupado, pero casi no tenía interés en mí como comensal solo. Es una pena, pero el lugar casi siempre está lleno, así que supongo que debe tener algo a su favor. Pero es muy útil para mí cuando me alojo en el lodge de viaje de enfrente, así que volveré con la esperanza de una mejor experiencia la próxima vez.
