There is a good choice on the menu, we had a snack for lunch which was freshly made, tasty and quick to be served. The staff were friendly and the service was good.

We had a lovely bottomless brunch here. There were plenty of options in the food and drink menus and it was excellent value. The service was great - Vicky, in particular was really helpful and looked after us well.

Early evening Sunday roast. Very tired veg, gristly beef but nice roasties and tasty gravy. The pub is nice as are the people. Short measure on my first pint and the food was very expensive for what it was. Probably better than some of the surrounding pubs but far from the best in terms of quality and price.

Four of us having a few drinks and food. Not sure if the chef was having a bad day the chips came out pale and a bit undercooked. The bbq ranch chicken was awful. Not even proper chicken thrown on top was some pale streaky bacon no cheese no bbq and bits of ham. Definitely not value for money. On the plus side the cocktails were nice. Wish I hadn't eaten it and should of complained at the time but don't like confrontation. Husband enjoyed his burger. Friends Chios were again pale think she liked the fish but only ate half of it.

Generally I like their food but have been put off with a recent salad myself and the wife had which had a fair amount of gone off brown iceberg lettuce in it, its a shame as when you receive something like that it puts you off buying food again, I was surprised and somewhat shocked they served such poor quality food.

After going for a nice walk around Christchurch, I went to the George in for a nice lunch, I was greeted and served by a nice young chap by the name of Ollie. I ordered a burger for my lunch and the service and food was great, defiantly recommend and will be coming back

Called in for lunch and a pint whist on a short break in Christchurch. We were greeted by the friendly owners who took time to tell us about the January offers on food and drinks and welcomed us (a family of four and a dog) like we were regulars. A couple of pizza and amazing chicken wings (with 3 different) dips and we left feeling full delighted with our lunchtime choice. The pub welcomes dogs both inside and in the beautifully decorated courtyard and the last of the Christmas decorations looked great. It’s clear that great pride and a high level of customer focus is given. Plenty of choice on the menu and the food came out well presented and tasted great. Thanks also to Colin at the bar for the advice on the dips for the chicken wings. Ye Olde George is a great location if you are looking for a drink or some food in a friendly, clean and welcoming environment and makes a change from some of the chains that appear on the high street where you can pass in and out without so much of a hello. Well worth a visit if you are looking around the town. Thanks for your hospitality.

We used the barn for a wedding reception and we cannot rate this venue highly enough. The team (managed by Jamie) were friendly and worked incredibly hard. Food was great, beer was great, atmosphere was great and unlike a lot of other wedding venues it was affordable, relaxed and accommodating. We couldn't leave a 6 start review which is a shame! Have been vising the George Pub for the past few months and had grown to enjoy my time there, unfortunately last night there was a fairly long queue for drinks as there was at the time only one young barman, never mind this was no issue however when it was about to come to my tern someone else went to the bar and the young bar person never asked once who was next but simply served this guy, maybe a friend ? regular ? I have no idea but when I approached the barman and explained I was next he simply had a offish smile with no apology or even any explanation! this type of thing really grates on me and unfortunately I will be going elsewhere.

Tried the new menu, food was delicious and well presented. Staff were friendly and attentive as ever. We come back on a regular basis due to the uniqueness of this very old pub. Great choice of beers, wines and spirits. Highly recommend to locals or anyone visiting this beautiful Saxon town.

As a couple we have been coming here for years, often with family members. The landlords are very friendly and welcoming. The setting is unique in a listed building and court yard which attracts sun and atmosphere. Today we tried the new menu, the stone baked pizza was amazing. Fresh, tasty and exciting. We highly recommend Ye Old George Inn for couple, families, dog walkers - anyone looking for a decent a tipple, good food and a welcoming relaxing environment.

The pub is pleasant enough but the service and food portion was poor. Unfortunately it appeared they only had two hard working ladies working behind the bar & taking food orders. So it was an issue of not having enough staff on during this day of the summer school holidays. We were presented with a small portion of the fries & Jack fruit carne instead of the sharing portion that we paid for. When we mentioned this to the staff at the end of the meal they explained what had happened with an apology but no reimbursement was offered. We did have a nice craft beer in there and the other dishes were good. But the food order did take nearly an hour to arrive.

Great friendly service fab food great selection of drinks lovely location . The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable about the area and are so happy to help . If your in Christchurch I would recommend you visit the Old George Inn for food or just a drink also they have all the main sport events on in the barn and beer garden

Unhelpful from the initial booking after asking to add one more person- we then booked 2 tables and they let us sit together- so unsure why it was such a drama from the beginning?! Service is non existent- rude bar man in outside bar happily let us wait 20 mins then told us it was a private party so couldn’t serve us. Girls serving inside were more interested In talking to each other, no table service for food so all had to order individually which meant we ate separately . No presence of a Manager all evening….. Only good thing was the food but as the service was so poor- i probably won’t rush back which is a shame as they cater well for everyone

Great evening was really looked after by the team and Mary really looked after us nothing was too much trouble for her or the rest of the team. Will be back again very soon.

The Good , The Bad & The Ugly. I'll do it in reverse if that's ok......THE UGLY - I love dogs, and was pleased to see them allowed in the outside area but....when other customers will be using your table and chairs when you leave, the dogs should not be allowed to sit up on the chairs/benches with their faces sniffing & licking the table. THE BAD - after waiting for, what we thought was far to long for our drinks (found out it is because only X2 people allowed behind the bar at a time,) my Wife's cold drink glass came with a very noticeable, full set of lips in a fetching shade of pink on the glass. Changed very quickly with a 'brave' explanation and apology. Also...I declined the Onions & Gherkin on my burger so asked if I could have Tomato instead...the waiter said 'I don't think we have tomatoes in the kitchen. p.s. they were in more than one dish on the menu including a staple in a Salad! THE GOOD - The food, although basic pub food, was very nice. Under the circumstances they all have to adhere & adapt to on a daily basis (it can't be fun) it was still nice to be out, there, made to feel welcome in a quaint little courtyard in the middle of town. Would we go back? Yes we will, because , although there were a few 'minor' issues, we got what we were looking for...a nice pub lunch, with a drink, and friendly staff. Thank you. Xx

Poor service and shocking value for money. 6 soggy onion rings for £3, not sure if they even deserve to be called “onion”.

I visited the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday weekend at 6pm. The venue was not full by any means and we used the phone app to order food and drinks. The main course took over 30 mins to arrive which was surprising as the it was not that busy. I ordered the roast lamb shank Sunday roast with a side of cauliflower cheese. The meat was in gravy that tasted ok but was luke warm. The roast vegetables looked as if they had been cremated and were inedible. The bowl of cauliflower cheese look dry as if he had been served hours before and kept hot. I did not eat it. We ordered some more drinks which failed to arrive and had been sent to another table. There was no call back after the mains had been bought to the table to check if we were happy with our food. I was asked afterwards if our meals were ok when I mentioned to issue with the roast meals. We were given a refund for one roast meal and not charged for the last round of drinks.

It is pub grub at its worst. The staff try to be engaging, but simply let down by the worst pub grub ever. My meal was well overcooked. NO Gluten Free option unless you consider a salad. Not expensive, but let down by the possibly the most limited range of drinks. There nothing terrible here but I just wouldn't go back, not because we didn't have a pleasant evening, rather I couldn't recommend anything about it.Sorry Ye Olde George, but you just have to do better. Very badly cooked food, and bad menu with no effort to provide for those with dietary needs rather than lifestyle choices such as Vegan. Salad these days doesn't really match up to the competition in Christchurch.

Came here for lunch, with my friend today as I’ve haven’t been since before lockdown and I used to visit a lot as it’s a good little pub. So I thought I would visit again. Unfortunately the service was pretty bad this time around, upon entering the table outside were littered with empty glasses and used cutlery, the servers all looked rushed off their feet albeit it was not busy. Myself and my friend ordered drinks separately his came out mine did not, I waited for a while and still nothing, I asked a server as to where it was and she told that she had forgotten about it, when it did turn it was flat and the syrup had gone they did change it for me after a while it came back out as a small even though I had a large prior to that. We waited quite a while for the food which we didn’t mind as such but when it did eventually arrive they brought the wrong dish out to my friend and the server kept questioning whether he had ordered it or not which he didn’t, they eventually changed for the correct dish. When I went to pay they over charged me although my friend had had exactly the same and they charged him the correct amount, when I questioned them on they tried to tell it was higher because of sugar tax even though I had exactly the same order as my fiend and the correct price was on the board outside of the pub, both of the servers looked very confused and didn’t particularly look like they knew what they were doing, it took a while to rectify this. Both servers were quite rude at the end which is pretty disappointing considering it had always been a good place to visit for a drink or a meal I probably wouldn’t return for a long while now due to the poor service and bad attitudes of the staff there. I can’t fault the food at all as it’s always very good but service not so much, it’s definitely needs improving upon.

A proper pub, with a great atmosphere - and the staff are dealing with the current Covid restrictions efficiently.. swift table service, either by ordering with staff, or via a well-functioning phone app.. better than most places in the Covid-world!

Visited lunchtime whilst in the town. Fantastic service, lovely food and dog friendly. Most importantly the management and staff were the friendliest I have encountered in a very long time. They were happy to chat and made you feel very welcome. In the current circumstances with another lockdown looming finding this gem of a pub was a real treat. Will definitely be back when circumstances allow.

We went to YOGI for Sunday lunch. The staff were all warm and welcoming, making us feel comfortable from the moment we were greeted at the door. The food was excellent and very big portions. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Visited here on 27th October. Booked a table for two and initially moved to eat in the barn which was cold, noisy and full of kids and barking dogs. Decided against this and the staff found us a table in their main pub which was so much cosier and quieter. Service was superb - they couldn't do enough. One our beers was flat unfortunately and when the glass was changed, it only slightly improved. The meals were delicious but very small portions, even though they cost around £10 to £12 each for the mains. I had chickpea curry which was absolutely delicious. My partner had Steak and Ale pie which was also delicious. However both our oortions were bordering on child size and we were left hungry. There were no gluten free options surprisingly and no vegan or gluten free desserts so we had to go home and get something else after, which was a shame. 2 pints of beer and 2 main courses and one portion of onion rings came to just under £35. New menu arriving in November apparently. Would definitely go again - maybe when we are not quite so hungry. Lovely staff.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the pub itself is lovely and cosy with plenty of outside seating. They followed all covid procedures and we felt very comfortable and safe having a meal here. Would highly recommend.

Came here today for sunday lunch for my partners birthday, and it was absolutely wonderful. We both had beef which came with extra yorkshires and gravy for free. Lovely selection of veg and generous portions of beef. Was delicious! The staff also couldnt do enough for us, extremely welcoming and we will definitely be back!

on holiday in the new forest and went a walk along the coast. went in to Christchurch Town centre and stumbled across this pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we enjoyed a really tasty Sunday roast beef dinner followed by sticky toffee pudding. excellent. recommend visiting and felt very covid safe.

Came here on Sunday and the food, well, what can I say! First of all the customer service is excellent, nothing is too much trouble for the staff who all work exceptionally hard and are very observant of the ongoing Covid rules. We had a chicken roast and a chicken burger and they where fantastic! The roast was excellent with half a chicken, lots of potatoes, veg and unlimited Yorkshire’s and gravy! Nowhere else I have been offers this and the Yorkies are epic! The chicken burger itself was lovely with a really nice breadcrumb batter and excellent chips. All around a lovely, lovely place with great tasting food! 100% recommend

We only stopped for drinks on a couple of occasions, excellent pints of Doombar and Trooper. It is a periodical building with some very interesting history and a good Courtyard area

At present on a staycation in dorset cycling around, decided to cycal to chirstchurch where the family had holidayed many moons ago the popped in a few places fir a drink and found then a bit pretesh.. moved away from river bank in to town and came upon this gem good old fashioned pub with pub grub .staff were friendly dealing well with current restriction only compliant is not much selectivarioseon off ciders just the commercial brands but I'm sure that to cater for tourest various deals on food I chose a chicken and bacon burger I found the staff freely and down to earth which is not the case in all establishment in the area

We sat in the courtyard for lunch. The courtyard is sheltered and warm with lots of overhead cover. The Birra Moretti was a lovely beer. We had a starter and main for £10 each which was well worth the money and delicious! We had scampi followed by ham, egg and chips and BBQ chicken wings followed by a small portion of fish and chips which was more than enough for lunch The service was warm and welcoming.Lovely

I also was served by the Tattooed lady and found her to be extremely professional. She explained the new rules due to Covid in a very polite manner. She was also very helpful in directing me to an available table and we got served almost immediately. I honestly cannot praise the professional pup and staff enough.

While on a business trip from my headquarters in Edinburgh i was passing through christchurch and wanted a wee bite to eat and found this place, the food was incredible and i truly felt at home and comfortable sitting in the colourful beer garden, all of the staff where fantastic and my server “Cara” i think was so helpful and welcoming also quiet possibly one of the only people able to understand me. Overall a wonderful place and will be coming back to christchurch just to eat here again!

Left a really welcoming pub around the corner to give this one a go. Beer & Cider was just fine but have to say was served by one of the rudist members of staff I have had the misfortune of coming across. Entered the bar & was snarled at by a tattooed lady & told to wait outside until we were seated. Was then told by another member of staff we could sit in the 'barn' but to order our drinks at other bar. Went back to the other bar to face the tattoed lady again. Was asked my table number but as I hadn't yet sat down didn't know it. That was a big mistake! - she rolled her eyes, tutted asked me for the money & waved me away to sit down!!!! Rude Rude Rude

We have visited today and received very good service and would like to mention a special Thankyou to the man seeing everybody in who went city of his way providing us with seats in the sun at a busy lunchtime.We were told of the wait, but the food was well worth it when it came.We do not eat out often but when we do we like good quality food which was what we got.Bar staff and waiting staff were equally attentive with nothing being too much trouble at a busy Time for them

We visited last night during the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme. I booked a table online for myself, my husband, two pre schoolers and a baby.We arrived and were warmly greeted and the staff went through their COVID rules which were well thought out and explained. We were shown to our table and the staff had ensured a suitable table for our needs (space for pushchair and high chair) and explained there was a wait for food - no problems at all. It’s been made very clear by all establishments how busy places have been with the huge demand from the 50% off food scheme so that’s absolutely fair enough. The staff did not stop, they were all working so so so hard and delivering an extremely high standard of customer service. They were so polite and nothing was too much trouble.I was SHOCKED at how rude other customers were towards staff. Making demands and complaining (very rudely) about the wait times for food.What do people expect!? They’re going out for half price food and adding to the high volumes of custom and being completely unreasonable to the staff. I was really upset for some of the staff. There was nothing more any of the staff could have done. I have never ever witnessed staff in any sort of pub, bar or restaurant working so tirelessly and hard for such little thanks from their customers.We were right next to the bar so overheard a lot of what was said. The staff dealt with these customers with respect and conviction. Not once were any of them anything other than polite and apologetic. I honestly couldn’t fault them at all. The food.. the food was INCREDIBLE!!!! Amazing quality and cooked to perfection. Well worth the wait. Great menu choices too. Plenty of choice for all of us.Thank you again to the team for being so wonderful. We can’t wait to come back soon.x

I went to this pub with family. The staff were friendly and professional, the food was superb! Nothing was too much trouble. The covid system they had in place for social distancing/ordering food&drinks was safe and simple to adhere to. This is my favourite pub in Christchurch and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area on holiday.

We had a wonderful evening, despite some of the COVID challenges, we found the staff to be really thoughtful and helpful - we will definitely be back!We've never had a bad experience in this bar - thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff!

We popped in for a drink after a day out and were so pleased with the organisation and how they followed the new COVID guidelines. The actual manager seated us and I can’t praise him enough due to his amazing customer service. He made time to talk to us and make us feel welcome. We returned another day for food which was good and we all enjoyed our meal. The manager once again looked after us and made a fuss of our kids. Even my children commented how friendly and nice he was.The staff were also really friendly. Well done and keep up the good work. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Whilst on holiday we decided to eat dinner here one night. We walked in, was given a menu and was shown to a table outside. We sat here for around 20/25 minutes and no one came to take our order. We got up and asked a waiter if we can order a drink who then told us all drinks and food need to be ordered at the bar. Would have been nice if we were told this when we were first seated. I was then told it would be an hour's wait until we got our food. This frustrated me even more because if we had of known the order process then we would have placed our order 20 mins ago. Finally our food arrived 1 hour later. We ordered the pizzas. Really wasn't impressed, they had no flavour and were burnt. No one checked on us during our meal and my plate was cleared even though my partner was still eating.
