Ye Old Bulls Head Inn in Isle of Anglesey

We always went to the Bull when visiting Anglesey and considered it as one of the best restaurants on the island. Clearly it's changed hands recently and is now part of a chain (Inn collection group). We called in on Fri the 3rd of May on the off chance of getting a table and expecting not to get in and it was half empty. When we got the food we realised why. What a loss. Avoid!

This is an excellent pub 👍🏻👍🏻 great people giving great service, fantastic food and good beer! Almost didn’t want to share in case it’s too busy next time!

The food was truly awful,sent my meal back as lukewarm chicken is not good for anyone's tummy,Mine came with according to the menu a vegetable salad that consisted of what looked like bagged lettuce from the supermarket with a few shredded carrots and coloured onion totally bland and not nice It's very serve yourself you order drinks at the you then order your food at the bar...not very relaxing at all ,I would go elsewhere to eat plenty of nicer places than this on Anglesey We won't return

My wife and I loved our three night stay. We were accommodated in the cream room it was really comfortable and we really liked the decor. We had one evening meal which we thought was very tasty but breakfast was exceptionally good the quality of ingredients were first class. We also enjoyed the ambience in the bar and a lovely selection of drinks. Finally and arguably the most important the staff throughout the hotel are great and we look forward to staying again.

Firstly I should say that I can't comment on the food or service because I never got to eat at The Bull.....you can't book a table for less than 8 people and I wasn't prepared to lay out for a taxi to take a chance of getting a table with 3 friends. Also, you are in the hospitality industry...get a real person to answer your phone not a machine telling me to press 1 for....etc Think about the customer experience that you are providing.

Friendly service with welcoming log fire (just what needed on cold wet day). Food basic pub grub but well cooked and presented,

We were visiting friends in Menai Bridge and chose this accommodation for an overnight stay and were not disappointed. Great location, comfortable and quiet rooms but most importantly the staff were great helping with any issues. Good breakfast.

Absolutely faultless. Our third visit in the last few weeks. Steaks cooked to perfection, chips really are something else. Good real ale and an extensive drinks menu. Have to also mention, the fish and chips we had on a previous visit…cannot recall having better. Highly recommend. Staff are so attentive and friendly. Nothings too much trouble. One of my favourite restaurants. Will be back many times through the summer.

2 stars for the lovely staff. Sorry guys hate leaving poor review for local business as local guests but the scampi was appalling. My daughter 14yrs said exactly same as I was thinking ,it was the worst ever had. Soggy , coating just falling apart, the chips were awful ,all looked thrown on the plate,poor presentation .For £17 it was like a lunchtime lite bite . Other member had crumble pud....lashings of custard advertised.....noticed small little mini sauce boat jug with something congealed inside . As family 80th gathering I didn't make a fuss but we won't be back . Basic low grade cheap pub fare for top dollar price ! Menu very simple and not difficult to get wrong ! I had seen similar review from about a week ago but we gave it the benefit of the doubt ..unfortunately. That burger was 10/10 Adam the person that served me was so polite and patient if I could give the star review a 10 I would! I will definitely come here again because the food is amazing and so is the staff highly recommended

I’ve visited several times over the last couple of years and really liked the ambience, service and quality of the food. I’ve taken lots of visiting friends and they’ve all been impressed. Visited today and it’s a shadow of its former self. No longer greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed you to your table, it was find your own table and order at the bar… The place was pretty empty but I reassured my friend the food was always good. No longer a nice concise menu instead a large pub-style static menu and prices more aligned with a London pub. When our food arrived it was average at best and at £19 for a burger I expected more. It’s clear it’s be bought by a pub chain and has lost all its charm and character. I won’t be visiting again.

Once again the food was to the normal standard excellent and the service outstanding. We had the dragon spiced sausages wow!!! & pulled beef wellington…. We will return, I can highly recommend this place. Thanks Dee & John H

I stopped here after a day cycling in Snowdonia and thought I'd have a quick pint. The fire was roaring and it was difficult to leave. As such I booked a meal for the family the night after and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic and friendly service and great food, highly recommended.

We had a booking for 6 adults and a baby, from the minute we stepped into the restaurant the staff went above and beyond to make our Christmas Day perfect. Food was delicious and very well organised with no issues at all. Staff friendly, funny and very helpful. Especially Jackie & Paul. Big thank you and we can’t wait to return.

The Bull used to be the epitome of perfection of a pub, with a very good bistro at the back. Everything absolutely spotless, staff in green aprons and the bar room polished and immaculate. It always looked as if it had fallen in from 1930 and was like an immaculate working museum. Going there was an absolute pleasure and people came from far and wide. Now it is shoddy and unloved, and the grubby ketchup bottles on the bar room tables optimise the complete drop in standards. Holes in the plaster, and a big screen TV on one wall. How the mighty are fallen. It's just another grubby pub.

The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Breakfast was made with good quality ingredients, not greasy and well presented, (although the bacon was hard and chewy). The bed was good quality and comfortable, supportive but not hard, the room was clean. The room was a different matter. Initial impressions of trying to look traditional was spoilt by the modern white painted wardrobe, as no attempt had been made to blend it in with the rest of the room. Whilst designed to look good, the room was hopelessly impractical. The biggest issue was having to move furniture to get to the plugs for charging the phone, and either move furniture or scrabble on the floor under the table to plug in the hairdryer. There was a seat for hair and make-up, however the mirror was so high on the wall, you couldn't use the seat and mirror together. An older, less fit or able person wold really have struggled completing normal tasks in this room. In the bathroom, the pump bottles for soap and lotion were crammed into a metal 'basket', but due to poor fit, this made it more difficult to use the pump without moving them to a hard surface. In the shower, the pump bottles are placed on the wall close to the shower, However to use them you have to put your hand through the water to collect soap or conditioner. This is made worse for a left-handed person; anything on your hand is mostly washed off when you can't avoid withdrawing your hand through the water. The pump bottles themselves are not designed for multi re-use and durability, and no one seems to check that they are still working properly. The impracticability and lack of attention to detail, for what is marketed as one of their better rooms, does not warrant the price being charged. Poor value for money and totally lacking a luxury experience.

This is an old traditional hotel. Lovely setting but: The prices charged for beverages is extreme. A pint of Guinness and large glass of Sauvignon £14 + is extortionate. The bar prices are much too high taking advantage of holiday and local clientele.
