Made a half hour journey to take my family for lunch ..arrived before it got busy. Waited over an hour for food to then be told our order had not gone through. Grandchildren hadn't eaten since early morning. No one came to tell us our order hadn't gone through we discovered this over an hour later when we went to chase up our food. I also had to leave with them owing us £107.00 despite showing them my online banking they said their tills couldn't find the transaction...having to wait for the owner to phone me

The Ship Inn is a real gem of a restaurant and bar, offering high-quality food and drinks with a focus on fresh, flavourful dishes – especially the fish options, which are a standout. The crab and fish & chips come highly recommended and are definitely worth trying. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The setting is stunning, with breathtaking views over the estuary, sea, and mountains from the beer garden. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a drink or enjoy a meal in the fresh air. A big plus – dogs are welcome inside the bar, which makes it a great stop if you’re out exploring with your four-legged friend. Definitely worth a visit – whether for a casual lunch, evening meal, or just to soak up the views with a pint in hand.

I read a few reviews whilst looking for dog friendly pubs in the area and I'm glad that I came across this establishment. The first time around I went for the crab sandwich with a side of whitebait and it was outstanding. The sandwich was fresh and I'm not sure if it was a touch of dill, the freshness or some sort of secret ingredient they add to the crab. The whitebait had a perfect light and seasoned coating. One of the best lunches in a very long time, so good I returned the following day. When I returned I noticed the specials board and they had a 1/2 lobster special, with a larger sharer available which essentially turned it into a surf and turf. It was special indeed! The staff were friendly and helpful. I hope to return one day.

Booked a table for the 4 of us for 6pm and arrived on time and sat at our table. We waited for 30 minutes in vain waiting for someone to take our order. The place wasn't busy but the staff seemed preoccupied with chatting to their friends at the bar. After 30 minutes we left and went elsewhere to eat. The place is very disappointing! The menu hasn't changed in years and it never seems particularly welcoming. An underwhelming experience for such a picturesque pub.

I’ve been to this pub before and was looking forward to come back again after few months. I was utterly disappointed, the food is below average. The new management change the menu, which is very fair, but they used to serve the best goat cheese on tart and I couldn’t have it 🥹 The chicken burger was bland, chips not nice and coleslaw had more sauce than vegetables. It’s is still enjoyable but was very disappointed

Highly recommend this for food and location! Its right on the beach front with free parking. We didn't intend on eating much as only went in for a snack and a pint after our walk on the beach. However the the Dragon Pie was recommended so we decided to share with a starter, trying to keep it light... The starter was Dusted Whitebait which were delicious, and cooked to perfection. Then the Pie arrived, it looked like a shepherd's pie with lots of cheese on top, but when you got into it, it was filled with the most tender chunks of lamb, in a mint and chilli gravy; not too much of either, just right, totally hit the spot!!

Visited the ship Inn today. Lovely views, been here before on past holidays. We thought we would eat here after looking at the reviews, especially the world famous Dragon pie. The pie was disappointing there was hardly any lamb or potato in it and was watery with a few sad looking vegetables on the side. The fish chowder didn't have any prawns in it a few bits of salmon and skin. Very disappointing 😞

We ate at The Ship last night, 2 couples, each with a dog. A lovely warm ambience with a log fire, for a rainy Anglesey evening. We were made welcome and our dogs were fussed over. The food was beautifully presented. Fish and chips -very good with a big piece of very fresh white fish; Fish chowder - lovely, rich, huge chunks of fish with lots of fresh Henllan bread and butter; Our friends had veg soup, halloumi fries and something else which I've forgotten, but they said it was all excellent and there was nothing left on the plates. The new management are making a great start! Well done and we are looking forward to eating there again.

A lovely traditional dog-friendly pub with an excellent selection of food. We visited for late lunch and the staff were really lovely and accommodating. We arrived just before the end of lunch service but we didn’t feel rushed to order at all. We had a fish goujon sandwich, a ham and cheese toastie and a bowl of chips. Both excellent on fresh local bread, really lovely fish and quality thick cut ham, great chips. The pub has recently been taken over and the new owner was very nice. The staff came over to check everything was ok and were very friendly and attentive. The pubs had some bad reviews on trip advisor recently which we found unjustified, the food is as good as ever and the seating arrangements are now more flexible for dog owners and families. We booked a few days earlier with our dog in tow. We arrived after a longish drive in an inclement night. Such a warm welcome. We were one of 3 tables with four footed friends. (So not too sure what to make of some previous reviews. We placed our orders & were somewhat disappointed in that 4 of so of the popular items weren’t available. So no steak & ale pie for me! :-( . Don’t really do beef burgers but gave it a go & wouldn’t rate it highly. When it came to puds on top of our disappointment nothing much to excite & we declined. However the staff were cheerful and in particular Chris was making sure we were happy : if not a tad disappointed. For the chef : cook the chips a bit more, colourless & bland.

You used to be ushered into a back room where 3 dogs were only allowed, today we were shocked to see no dogs allowed inside. Look at the location this pub is frequented by so many people with dogs. 🐶 I dont want to sit outside when it’s raining and windy in the shed after paying over £6 a pint. That’s our custom lost. Well that was disappointing. We've been gazing across at The Ship for a few days whilst staying on the other side of the bay at Llandonna, and thought today being our last full day before returning home we'd drive over with our dogs and treat ourselves to a decent lunch and a couple of drinks. We were sad to see, shocked even, given the economic climate and the time of year, being about as low as the season gets, to read prominent 'no dogs inside' signs posted on the front door. The sign directed dog owners to an exterior 'heated shack' that looked about as welcoming as a slap in the belly with a dead wet fish. We turned away along with at least half-a-dozen other couples, all with dogs, and left to seek an alternative. We ended up returning to our cottage where dogs are welcomed. Whilst I respect the proprietor's right to make a no dogs ruling I find it astonishing that interior space, with hard floor, is not set aside for dog owners. All I can assume is that it makes economic sense to them. As for the rest of us passing by on this famously dog-friendly beach (certainly as it is out of season), whether on wheels or foot on the Anglesey Coastal Path, with our furry friends alongside, and all hoping for a dog and human friendly welcome, I'm afraid the message is: 'GO ELSEWHERE'!

Such a shame, that this lovley, cosy little pub on the seafront is great place to eat and/or drink UNLESS you have a dog and it's winter. Then you are ushered to a brightly lit back room which apperently (according to a local) used to be the toilets. They only allow three dogs at a time, so if you have two dogs like us and there are already two dogs in this room. Tough! They do allow dogs outside in a heated area but when it's dark, raining and blowing a gale it's not the most welcoming of places to sit and relax. Most pubs these days allow dogs, but we felt that we were treated like second class citizens. Thankfully, there are plently of other lovely pubs on Anglesey which are genuinely dog friendly.

Unfortunately, a baby isn’t allowed to sit for food in the right hand side of the restaurant, although it had many young children who were in there dining. When questioned why, it was said the restaurant was ‘too loud’ and that babies weren’t allowed in there as a car seat takes up too much room, even though there was plenty of room at the table. A very odd response from what is meant to be ‘family friendly’. We left dined in the Boathouse next door, who were nothing short of excellent. Would recommend you spending your money here.

As others have noted...the access and the parking can be garbage. The first time we tried it was in an August...just don't! Go somewhere else, the stress isn't worth it, just to find nowhere to park crawling with the Me First's at the bottom. Your reward for your descent efforts will then be an aggression riddled climb back out. Try in the Spring or Autumn and you'll find a very different experience. Since our original, all but homicidal road rage filled original visit, we learned to approach differently, even enjoying a healthy to and from walk to Llanddona. It's easier and very quiet. If you can find somewhere to park the walk round to Benllech is fresh too. As for the pub itself?...well...it's the same as thousands of others, fine at most times, a victim of its own success at others. Further endorsement of the Low Season Theory.

Every time we come to Anglesey we always visit The Ship Inn for their Mussels. So this year we set off for a walk and our mussel visit…we got there and we couldn’t get a table inside as we had a dog and they have a rule on how many dogs are allowed in the pub, there was no mussels on the menu and we very nearly had our drink and turned around. However one of the party went to see if there was anywhere warmer we could sit rather than directly outside. Chris, the most friendliest waiter we’ve ever met on the island showed us an area we could sit and we overheard someone saying the dragon pie is the best they’ve ever had. So we decided to stay. The outdoor area was lovely and warm, we ordered food for 13 people and expected it to come out one after another, however it all arrived at the same time. The dragon pie is honestly one of the best hearty meals I’ve ever tasted, it was absolutely delicious and a good size too! No starters are needed, so yes it’s pricey but if you leave out starter then it balances out. After our meal Chris had a good chat with us and really made us feel welcome. All in all, we had a really lovely afternoon out in a great spot with amazing food. The Ship Inn, you’ve got a gem in Chris!

Visited on Saturday 3rd June 2023. First visit and very happy. Nice pub with great views if you sit outside, delicious food and helpful, friendly staff. Truffled rarebit on toast and Fish Finger bun (home made Fish Fingers) both amazing. Will absolutely eat here again.

My husband and I loved this fabulously individual pub. With its quirky gated door entry system to its stalled seating area. ... we loved it. First you need to find the pub down a side street looking unobtrusive. Secondly, you have to work out how to get in through its door. Read the sign and wait. Thirdly, enter into a magical space of a well stocked bar and well thought seating area to maximise the space within. Finally, park your bottom in one of the seating areas and enjoy the vibe of this funky, friendly and very very interesting pub. We really didn't want to go. No other pub compares to this one and we did try others to give this pub a fair review.

We have been to this pub twice before and had good food and service both times, This time we called in and had coffee first because it was early. We were told which table to have even though people who came later were told they could sit anywhere. We were then told we would have to go to the bar to order drinks but food was table service. Our drinks came we drank them. Another waitress asked if we were having food we said yes but still no one came to take our order. No one told us about the specials board and in the end we went to the bar to give our order. The food looked nice but the chicken was overcooked and dry. There was not much barbecue sauce on the hunters chicken so we were very disappointed. The onion rings and salad were very nice. I wish I'd known about the specials I probably would have picked off there but I only saw the board when I went to the toilet. The toilets by the way were very clean. We just felt we didn't get the service we have had in the past and it spoiled our overall visit to the Liverpool arms in Beaumaris.
