Yaya's in Manchester

It's nice when not so busy food was ok a bit over priced we even got a service charge on top of the bill which I've never had to pay for before so was shocked

Awful! There are better restaurants and food places in Cheetam Hill-than this place!!! Manager is up his own boond. Not friendly or welcoming. The service was terrible, it wasn’t even busy and yet we were waiting 2hours for our food to arrive. The food taste was 1/10. No flavour just spice. Chips were hard. Chicken was not cooked it was pink inside. And the stirfry was made from spaghetti not actual noodles! Honestly save yourself the time and money and go elsewhere. I know for sure i will not be returning here ever again!

This was my very first time at Yaya’s with the family. We went on Eid day and we had a big table booked so my review is based on not just one dish but a wide range of dishes. From the get go, the manager seemed a bit abrupt as some of the family members arrived literally few minutes late but I appreciate you’ve got to honour time so that’s not a biggie. The interior seems nice enough. The menu was reasonably sized. The mocktails like the bubblegum daiquiri and others that were ordered were nice. Some of the starters on menu were not available.The timing of our food being served was not in sync and was not coordinated well as some people were served starters 5-10 minutes later than someone sitting next to them which was very awkward and wasn’t nice as your eating away and they’re having to wait so timing was completely off. The creamy lamb chops were okay and nicely presented. My sister liked her medium rare steak with chips. I tried a lamb karahi which wasn’t too bad. A family member said the masala fish was okay and it appeared crunchy. There was a cheesy potato nan bread I tried which was nice. Apart from that, the food was a real let down. The salmon my neice was served was super bland and super sickeningly fishy! I tried the seekh kebab and one looked rather pinky inside and although not too dry, just wasn’t what you’ll expect in what we thought would be a decent place with years of experience.Even the chips were not so great and it’s hard to get chips wrong I think the customer service whenever asked for something, they’ll try to help but despite their best efforts it just seems a bit chaotic, perhaps lack of leadership. We spent a lot of money on a special day but the food never lived upto it. Online, there was nice pictures that made it appealing but last minute I came across some recent bad reviews and was having second thoughts but we gave it the benefit the doubt and it was just tricky especially given the Eid occasion. I would personally not come to Yaya’s again because it just didn’t seem very welcoming, food was really not great & prices is extortionate especially given the service and quality of food served. As a constructive feedback, I’ll say please 🙏 serve the food with everyone else’s so other loved ones or friends aren’t having to wait too long. A smile doesn’t harm and so a cheerful embrace or welcome is priceless and can be very helpful. Working on the menu and training the chefs for a better more tasty menu is something you should really consider. Please don’t take my review personally but rather this is a very honest assessment of what i experienced.

Absolutely shocking. I waited over 1hr and 30 mins for my food. Shocking customer service. Would not recommend anyone to come here.

I’ve just left with my friends we were so excited to try the food as table of 12 13 people and 2 other families nearly 25 people everything was ok until the so called Manager opens his mouth he’s extremely rude and act like the owner of restaurant even if your are the owner you still don’t have the right to speak to your customer like the way he spoke and told us to leave( as if he’s serving us for free) and said he’s got many people waiting out side.. like for serious ?? I will never ever recommend it to anyone in order of respect.this Manager definitely needs to learn some manners and needs to learn how to deal customer with respect no matter what background they are from. Sorry for the lower stars all for this guy as we didn’t even had the chance to eat our food. This manager Don’t even deserve to be a customer server until he learns manners.

Visited Yayas two days ago, and it was absolutely terrible. I'm new to Manchester and have tried incredible food, one being Eat Meat Steakhouse! However, Yayas was disgusting. We paid £65 for two fillet steaks, were definitely not steaks. They were old, no flavour and just ripped apart. The chips were not fully cooked and the veg was such a small portion, old, and dry. It was the worst thing I've ever had. They even decided to put the 10% charge which they snuck into the bill. We paid and left hungry and dissatisfied. If you want good steak, visit Eat Meat Manchester! We paid less and had a better experience and the most amazing food! Will not be visiting Yayas again. Funny how the owner said fake review - clearly can't take cristism.

There was boogers on the seat and it was hard to get the waiters attention but I liked the steak very lovely and blue drink good

The service was bad, we were asked to order 1 hour in advance otherwise they said they won't take order. It was my birthday and they gave us a table next to weird looking freezers and kitchen. When we asked to change the table, the staff was rude and did not accommodate a small request. No good spot for pictures and was too crowded. The service was slow. The food was bad, their special chicken steak was dry and topped with bad sweet tomato sauce (though we requested to make it extra spicy) with cheese on top, tasteless mushroom sauce with no mushrooms in it and served with seemingly Aldi bought mixed veggies, chips and okayish mashed potatoes. Only the drink was good, however could definitely work on the presentation. Only good thing was they served on time for iftar. Bad ambiance, bad service, and bad food. Charged £44 for two people including £4 service charge for this amazing service.

Food was served to my 3 year old daughter with a chipped plate , in three different places. Food was nothing special.

Your usual restaurant, based in Cheetham Hill, wasn’t an issue finding parking, the service was decent, we ordered steaks. In comparison to other steak places, it felt a bit chewy and gritty, even though we ordered a medium rare steak, it didn’t have the usual melt in your mouth sort of texture, the only thing I’d say was, the steak may have been frozen and then cooked, but the flavours were top and the sides (mash, chips, veg and sauce) were brilliant too! Overall it’s definitely worth trying if you’re in the area, my only thing was the quality of the steak was a little bit of a let down, but everything else was nice 👌🏼

Having never been to Yayas before, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the service and atmosphere. The food was to a very high standard, presentation was well thought and portion sizes were great!

Seated quickly despite being walk-ins. We were given recommendations on what to eat when we had a dilemma over a few dishes. They were inspired choices. Would highly recommend the silky prawns for starters and the special handi and the tarragon chicken for the mains.

Horrible steak. Don’t know how they class it as a steak when I make better at home. Stay Away.

Food was mediocre, service was bad though. Didnt get starters and when mains came out the waiter made out like we had already had our starters. Ended up cancelling them instead so we had a hot main instead of eating that cold if we waited for starter. First visit and certainly the last unfortunately. A couple of quid knocked off bill but whole experience off putting and wouldn't return

Had the T-bone steak - it was honestly rubbish, I din’t think they know how to cook steak- awful experience - will not be back again, used to be good but now seems to have gone downhill.

I dont usually write reviews but had to for this place..If i could give no stars i would, literally just left the place. The service was terrible the waiter dropped my food over me and didn’t even apologise. Food was disgusting, I ordered the beef burger and home made chips. let me just say the burger was dry as hell, I wouldnt even feed it to my dog. My chips were drenched in oil if you want heartburn your in the right place. My sister order chicken stir fry which was covered in more sauce than chicken, the “egg” fried rice was basically plain rice with a few pieces of peas and sweetcorn. Ended up paying £90 which was a complete rip off. AVOID AT ALL COST !!

I came here after a very long time. Very disappointed. Food was not fresh not hot just warm. No flavour in the food. Never come again here.

First time coming here was amazing then it become a second third and fourth time and it was really nice and was top. I visited a couple weeks ago after a while and found they have changed their lamb chops seasoning and also their chicken tikka and now charged it to some bland chicken. If I could give some feedback is to go back to the old recipes and old service because this was a 20/10

Went to YAYAS with friends. Food was stunning, the customer service was brilliant. My steak was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to come back.

Twice in 2 days, 6 times in the last 2 months, numerous times throughout the years. This place never ceases to amaze. The best steak around, medium rare. The best prices by a mile. Friendly staff. New options on the menu, Salmon was excellent. Eveyone I have ever taken there loves it. NEED I SAY MORE

Great food, lamb Karahi is exceptional. Give it a go if you haven't already. Lamb chops and seekh kebab also very good

First time visiting this place! Worst place ever. Waited for a very long time and unfortunately had to go tell the waiters that we were not being served, then they decided to take my order. Secondly after placing the order, they give the wrong one! Overall experience was very bad and atmosphere was not very pleasant either.

Food was totally tasteless and portions really small as compared to a few months back.

Food was decent not outstanding. Staff were not attentive, have come here more than once. Not once did they ask if everything was okay even though its not even busy the times I went, the waiter just walk around the place so awkward. Why add a service charge if it's basically self-service? So stupid!

The steak was very chewy and not cooked right. Very disappointing as this place used to be good. My cousin couldn’t even cut his steak because the fat wasn’t rendered properly.

Being to Yayas so many times and enjoyed the food. Came last night and really enjoyed the food from staters to mains as well as the missis . Big Thank you wassay for taking care of us lovely gentleman and friendly. He new all the menu which has been the first time we’ve seen that from the staff at yaya’s and he was really enthusiastic can’t fault the service tonight again thank you wassay Thank you 😊😊

Went for a staff meal from work.was very disappointed with the food..we had to send my colleague food back twice to get it cooked as the steak looked like it was sti alive and then she just ordered something else. Salmon was too salty. Chicken was also too salty. By the time my colleague eventually got her food we had all finished so the evening was actually spoilt for us .

Awful compared to how it used to be. Came from Leicester for a football game. Was with my son to have a meal before we headed back home. Upon entry I had no one to give me a table. Had to ask the drinks woman who seemed very disinterested. No one came to take my order when we were given a table. Waiter staff walking around not even checking on customers. Eventually tracked someone down order placed. Ordered a medium t bone steak and a kids meal. My sons order came after 10 mins. Great. Waited 40 mins despite staff walking around not even asking if all was okay. After getting fed up - I eventually asked a member of staff where my food was. Miraculously my food appeared 5 mins later. But the steak was not how I wanted (see picture attached). They had the nerve to charge a service charge despite it practically being self service. I normally don't contest this but on this occasion I refused to pay it. Person at the till was not bothered at all. All in all a bad experience and will not return again when in Manchester.

Food is a nice variety, well made and presented. But the best part is you can leave a cake before you arrive and they bring it out after your meal and do a nice celebration for you be it a birthday or a wedding or whatever.

Half the menu is deleted, and we got dirty dishes.

Just come over to enjoy a the Chicken Special and my colleague the Chicken Stir Fry. Unfortunately both were well undercooked for Chicken, which is surprising. The young waiter was polite and said the kitchen was closed. What a disappointment, we walked out without eating!!

Its a family favourite but our last visit was just very odd…no idea whats going on the music was terrible…old desi music from the early 2000s?! It was just an awkward atmosphere i think most people were feeling it. Other than that previous experiences have always been good with good atmosphere. The music /vibe was a let down unfortunately.

Nasty food chips were cold, poor quality steak and service charge £8.90 absolutely rip off wouldn’t recommend to anyone

*9th Sept 2023 Update* 4 years since I last visited. First impressions weren't great as literally almost half the menu had been crossed off in black marker. Why not just print a new menu? Ordered the lamb chops again and this time significantly less meat and much more expensive (£9) for 3 chops but tasty. As was the starter mix grill. The keema nacho starter was tasty, good heat and spice. Ordered a double patty beef mince burger and felt more like a double cheeseburger from McDonald's than a gourmet burger. Very flat, not tender or juicy and couldn't find the caramelised onions I'd ordered with. Fries were good. Mixed berry mocktail was beautiful. Received starters quickly but after that service went downhill fast and very disappointed. We had to request our table be cleared in order to even make space for the mains, waiters giving plates of food to the wrong people even after asking who ordered before putting on the table. We had to fetch our own cutlery. We never received a jug of water for the table we asked for. Getting a hold of a waiter was next to impossible because even though we were the closest table to the till, nobody would look our way yet staff walked past us constantly. Only positive to the service is my sister couldn't eat the Chicken Alfredo she'd wanted because the peppercorn sauce was very spicy for her, (why is there peppercorn sauce in a Fettucini Alfredo anyway? It's supposed to be mild). We swapped it out for a chicken steak which both were crossed off the bill. I appreciate this a lot, however, it seems to me after the refurb done to the building, the quality of the mains and the staff service leaves a lot to be desired. Staff seem very preoccupied in sitting people first rather than the experience from ordering to eating. 3/5 only for the final bill otherwise lower. Won't be returning for a while. Shame. **** Brilliant place to eat. Food was prepared very fast, staff were very polite and made an effort to answer our questions. Our starters included lamb chops, chicken wings and boneless chicken strips. The strips were decent, the chips were great but the chicken wings we had were amazing. Tender meat, wonderful marinade with a satisfying heat. I had a fillet steak with creamy peppercorn sauce, steak cooked medium rare. The meat was tender with hardly any stringy meat. Cooked to perfection. Roasted vegetables had a spice to them as did the peppercorn sauce which gave the dish a kick. The creamy mash was lovely, no chunks and served hot. The price was reasonable and the sides and sauce came with the meal unlike some places where this is extra. Very happy and will be visiting again.

The food is nice here but I felt a little let down with 1 of the orders. A portion of seekh kebabs - I was told 4 in a portion. When it arrived it was 2 seekh kebabs cut in half to make it 4 pieces, picture attached! And a miniature naan is separate!! I wouldn't buy that again. The pasta - chicken peri peri tagliatelle is my favourite dish there also very filling. 😋 Customer service is great, the staff are pleasant and courteous.

Amazing food and Amazing service... if in the area... definitely order the sirloin steak - medium rare with buttery mash. Salmon cheese bites are Amazing and definitely worth it. Atmosphere was 10/10... music was good. Will definitely return when I'm back in Manchester.

Took a trip down yaya's last night not happy with the quality of food has gone downhill use to really like there food,since then misses and duagher had stomach pains and been vomiting which indicates towards food poisoning

Decent food as always, visited after a few years and I can see they’ve updated their interior slightly. Has a nice atmosphere. Steak was cooked great, nice portion size with plenty on the plate. Wasn’t a huge fan of the strawberry daiquiri, came out as more of a slush puppy than a mocktail. Service was a bit slow, considering we were one of 3 other tables there.

I went yesterday to yayas. The food was disgusting and the lamb had a weird smell. The service was terrible. The workers were just talking amongst them near the tills. I had to call someone like 5 times. (Kept getting ignored) They gave us starters and then never checked up and left us for 45 mins with them starters. Also another customer there was also complaining. When I left I told them the service was terrible. He said they were short staffed. I told him I was going to leave a review because my experience was awful. He whispered something to the other worker who just found it funny and laughed. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED AND FOOD IS DISGUSTING!!!

Good service, the boys were lovely. Food took a little longer than expected but that's fine. The chicken karahi was very flavoursome. Would highly recommend it.

Travelled there on the way to Blackburn from London. A friend recommended the place, and what a recommendation, it was a very pleasant meal with family. The creamy lamb chops were month watering, the steaks were one the best I've had so far. The service was brilliant and the kids enoyed it too.I have to give these guys a 5*. Well done!

Nice atmosphere n good staff. All HALAL options. Good range of options from Pakistani dishes, burgers 🍔, pasta and stakes. Went many a times for stakes. Good sides n potions. Slightly on expensive side that's why one less star. Parking and getting table can be challenging at peak times and weekends.

Horrible service. As good the food is service is just awful. Wanted more rotis and been told takes time and after 25 minutes given 4 rotis and food was dead cold by then. Rude staff and would not pay attention when you required some more stuff.

Overpriced low quality food, The steaks are huge which is not a bad thing if the quality of the meat was any good, it was bland not cooked properly (asked for medium got rare) waiters take forever to come and take order or deal with any issues and on top they have the audacity to charge a service fee without asking.Only good thing was the mash

Great food, great service and amazing atmosphere. Been here before and the food is always on point. The place has a fantastic decor and is very comfortable. They have a range of seating available, so you can come with family or friends, the team are very accommodating. We were seating immediately, given time to order. We ordered a variety of items from the menu, notably, the creamy lamb chops, mix platter, steaks and fish starter, which were delicious. The steaks came out how we requested. The waiters checked up on us to ensure we didn't need anything. Honestly the food looked and tasted so good, I forgot to take pictures. The owner of the place also came over to get our feedback about the food. Very nice guy. He was telling us about the new menu items coming soon and even gave us some tasters. We will be returning, looking forward to trying them. Highly recommended. Thank you YaYas.

Went with family, very disappointed there were very little vegetarian options. Some got their starters before their mains. We waited for 1hr 30mins for food, that was sub standard. The toilets were not properly clean. Just save your money and go somewhere else! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Ordered a couple of Sirloin steaks and a curry Sirloin Steak served with chips, mash and veg plus a choice of creamy, peppercorn or mushroom sauce Yaya's special handi Tandoori mix combo of chicken tikka, diced lamb, peri-peri chicken and lamb chops Ordered a medium and a medium rare steak, which were both cooked right but unfortunately were too dry and had no flavour at all, so bland in my opinion, likewise the mushroom sauce and peppercorn sauce wasn't all that, far to watery. But the highlight of the evening was the handi. Wow what can I say absolutely mouthwatering. 👌💯🔥🔥🔥 Full of different flavours, seriously couldn't get enough... One the best curries I've had in a while, so all in all a mixed review Definitely RECOMMEND this place for their curries....

The food was very nice, hygienic,nicely and safely packed. We ordered keema,mutton nihari, chicken tikka, rice and naan. All the food was nice and they gave us one extra complimentary gravy. All of this massive amount of food, we only got it in £42.

I'm giving it 5* for the service and food choice but it was a tad on the expensive side. Food was tasty though Would be nice if the parking was a bit more accessible especially for disabled drivers

The food was already overpriced for what is delivered and the end they add a service charge which I’ve never had to pay before at any other restaurant. Go to other restaurants with reasonable prices and no service charge.

My daughter booked a birthday lunch for 4 persons at 2pm on Saturday. Food was well presented, tasty and hot. Good choice of starters and mains. Surprised, there were no desserts available, which was disappointing. Staff friendly and courteous. However, it would have been nice if they were slightly more attentive to check if we required any more drinks, etc. The restaurant needs some renovation as the seating and general decor looks very worn and tired. There is limited parking at the front. However, you can park on the adjoining streets.

Strange meat smell when we walked in. Tasteless food at extortionate prices Took 45 mins for food to arrive as there was hardly any other customers there. Wouldn’t recommend terrible experience and service. Staff was rude and unbothered.

Kinda expensive, food was okay nothing special to write home about. Service was lovely though, everything was clean. Wish there was more flavour in the steaks and the sides were fresher. Much rather have no veg than some boiled veg on the plate. Overall won't go again but wasn't the worst.

Overall good food, keema nachos and steak were very good but service not great so I didn't agree with a service charge which isn't clear on the menu.

Poor service. Unhelpful staff. Got the starters which were cold but then waited almost an hr to get someone’s attention. Got told will take some time for mains. Did not want to wait any longer as were not told this from the start. No remorse from the staff. They are not bothered the slightest

After trying for 45mins finally made eye contact only to say "our food will take a while". So we decided to leave. The staff on the till was least bothered, we paid for our cold starters and left. Extremely slow service always having to chase unattentive staff. Was not aware the owners family were in attendance about 50 people. Even though we had preordered our food arrived after they had left. To top the night off they cooked my steak incorrectly. Then wanted to argue the fact. No offer of replacement the only option being, to over cook the steak. Also admitted they didn't have any proper steak knives. So you will be leaving with a work out. In the end I asked what was happening with the bill and I wasn't charged for the T-Bone steak. Left Yayas hungry and disappointed. Steak lovers a stark warning to avoid this place.

Asian fusion food. Presentation looks good. Staff generally tend to wander around looking lost. Food is good but slightly on the upper pricey end for the taste and value. Overall not a bad place.

Yayas is convenient as it is right around the corner from us and has something for all the family.. The Steaks are Delicious and the Keema Nacho Starters are something else! I would recommend the Hoummus & Naan starter too.. The Mocktails are also amazing. We have been regulars here and will continue to come in shaa Allah. Great Food & Service Alhamdulillah

Excellent food. Wide variety of choices (steaks, burgers, pasta, curries etc) for everyone. I liked the curry with freshly made hot butter naan. Suitable for families. My children love this place. Highly recommended. Will be visiting again

Nachos were amazing Mixed Grill was decent but small portion for the price Lamb Shank was good. The steak...awful quality, very very tasteless. Served with decent mash potato, okay sauce and random veg. Would come back only for the lamb shank and nachos. It's a shame that yaya's has let their standards slip

Drink robbed me of £7 and ended up being 4 sips worth. Half of it was ice and the lime overpowered other tastes. DO NOT BUY THE WATERMELON MOJITO. Took longer than the food to arrive and ended up being below mediocre we had to ask them several times as well to check on our drinks and it still took a long time. Everything was overpriced and not worth it at all.

Visited today I must say the food and the service was 10/10. One of our go to places for food, thanks to all the staff and the chef.

Fantastic service, with a smile by our perfect waitress. The food came out extremely quickly, piping hot and tasted like traditional homemade food. Exactly what was needed on a cold winter evening. We are looking forward to returning.

Nice food. Staff gave us a free mocktail. My steak was cooked nicely and veg with the food was nice too. I prefer my food on plates rather than fancy trays they had. Service was ok. Edit. Came again Feb 23 and still 3 stars. I had the mixed grill for one, a piece of chicken wasn't cooked properly it was pink. I told the waitress she didn't know what to do with this information then asked if I wanted a replacement. I told the chap at the till and he gave me a discount. It was busy for a Friday evening but we didn't have to wait for a table.

It is not good to collect any service charge from the customer by adding it to the food bill and levying taxes on the total amount

Lamb steak definitely not tht juicy and tender . Beef stir fry was hard and chewy sauce overly hot and spicy. Food took ages to be served and even then 2 of us got left waiting for even longer. Prices very very expensive and being charged service charge for not getting much attention or service from their staff. Don't think will be returning back in a rush. Michael's were delicious but extremely pricy

I would give 0 stars if possible. How does this place actually run. We paid £35 each for a bland steak that was meant to be medium but was cooked rare then sent back. Came out overdone. The suace on the yayas special steak is just cheap tomato pasta sauce . Literally the worst food. Me and my sister both left our plates over 3 quarters full. Just to add restaurant was dead. Literally only our table of 3 and it still took them 30 mins to bring put 3 steaks cooked rare ??

Worst experience in a very long time. My last bad experience at a restaurant was also here before covid and I decided to give this plac eanother chance. Took over 35 min to bring out 3 steaks when there was only 1 other table in the whole place. I ordered the Yaya special steak. It was very bland and cold and sauce tasted like a tin of tomatoes heated up. Asked for medium cooked without the cheese and sauce taste horrible so asked for cheese to be added to try and mask the sauce a little. Came back 10 min later and it was a bit warmer but still not great. I thought it was medium at the first and second bite. But soon realised it was actually so rare. Sent it back again for them to cook it to medium. Came back 15 min later and it was well done. At this point it had been over an hour of being here and had 2 bites of a horrible meal. Asked for the bil. Had to pay at the front desk. NOT one member of staff asked how was your meal or why we got up with nearly 3 full steak meals still at the table. My sister didn't eat hers either because it wltasted horrible and cold and brother in law ate half of his because he was starving! I would pay for this place to be closed. It was that bad. Let's hope someone from Yayas replies to this review and see what they say.

We got seats quickly Music was on and off, ruined the atmosphere Room was cold Nachos with keema as starter - delicious We had mocktails - watermelon and mango were meh, not worth the money as flavour was lacking Mains were served before we had finished starter so the food got cold unfortunately Mains not served on sizzling plates like usual steak places, so food got really cold within the few minutes it too to start the mains My partner had the yaya special steak - loved it I got the surf and turf and asked for more mash instead of full portion of chips - amazing meat, chicken, and the prawns were really good quality Overall, the food was tasty, just ended up being cold which was disappointing

What a horrible experience! This place is not what it used to be. The steak I got was disgusting and the portion sizes are a joke. If you are selling steak as those prices make sure it’s quality. I also had to pay for a service charge which I believe should be optional. Do not go here it’s a rip off.
