My husband and I regularly go to Via Roma for dinner and we have never had a bad meal yet, the food is always freshly made and served piping hot to the table. We have taken friends and family to the restaurant and everyone has commented about how lovely the food is. We have even had our steak and pasta to takeaway. I would highly recommend this restaurant, the staff are lovely, attentive but without being intrusive, we tell all our friends, family and even the taxi drivers to go!

I am always shocked that this restaurant is not busier. I think it is much better than other local italians which are more expensive. The staff are always friendly. We have had many a birthday party as the children refuse to go to any other restaurant and if we have they just compare and complain. I hope it does much better as it deserves too. It is so reasonable. Give it a try.

Having spent a week in Rome, I was expecting brilliant food from a, supposedly, traditional home cooked Italian restaurant/Deli. What we ordered was: Garlic bread with Cheese 2 Pizzas - One Margarita and one with Mozzarella and Tomatoes Porcini Mushroom Ravioli with a Tomato and Cream Sauce Mozzarella and Tomato Salad Here's what we got: A Morrisons Bap with Cheese. 2 Frozen pizzas, Microwaved so they were soggy with a hideously bad dough that had been made by a child. Soggy pasta in a Red sour SOUP... There was nothing Italian about it...It was quite possibly the WORST meal I've ever eaten. AND It cost us nearly £40. I'm looking forward to the new Italian opening opposite...Porada!

I know we ate on a Wednesaday evening but when we arrived at the restraunt we were the only people there which set the alarm bells ringing to me but thought oh well it is Wednesday evening. Now I understand why nobody else was eating in there!! The starters were as follows - Stuffed Mushrooms. Description on menu - (Baked Mushrooms stuffed with spinach,Romano cheese, red onion & cherry tomatoes in creamy sauce) What arrived - Bowl of small chopped mushrooms(in quarters) with a bit of spinach thrown on top with 1 cherry tomato chopped in half and a little bit of red onion covered in a watery cheese sauce. Caprese with olives. Description on menu - (Mozzarella & Tomatoes served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar) What arrived - A plate with a pile of olives out of a jar in the middle surrounded by approximately 4 cherry tomatoes sliced in half with a slice of mozzarella in between each one which was the same size as the cherry tomato and a very slight drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Mozzarella In Carrozza Description on menu - (Deep fried mozzarella cheese served with a spicy tomato and garlic sauce) What arrived - mozzarella in breadcrumbs (looked like hash browns from Iceland) and a dry salad. Main meals were. Calzone Description an menu - (Folded over pizza filled with Spicy salami, onions, garlic, peppers and mushrooms) What arrived - As described but with far too much dough and a very small amount of filling) Vulcano (pizza) Description on menu - (The house special! - Tomato, mozzarella cheese, spicy pepperoni, peppers, garlic and onions) What arrived - A soggy thin pizza base (NOT RUSTIC LOOKING) swimming in greasy cheese and tomato with approx 7 bits of salami (NOT PEPPERONI!!!) approx 7-8 bits of red pepper strewn on the pizza with NO onion. (This looked like it had been cooked in a microwave oven as it was not cooked at all underneath and when it was cut and a slice lifted the cheese and grease (AND WATER) dripped of the slice! Lasagna No description on the menu What arrived - A bowl of layered pasta and mince meat in tomato sauce that looked and tasted like it had been taken out of a freezer and then cooked in a microwave oven!! I have been to Italy on numerous occasions and some of the local restraunts I have visited in Altrincham and Timperley come very close to authenticity where the VIA ROMA is no where near the mark of Italian food or Iceland frozen food to be truthful. I am shocked that this palce is still in business and I have watched some of the terrible food on Gordons Kitchen Nightmares which this restraunt would deffinately not be out of place on that show!!! Needless to say I will NEVER be eating at this establishment again and would strongly advise anybody who is thinking of eating there to keep on driving past!!! It's a shame as the girls who wait on are lovely.

Read the reviews & decided to take my wife out here for her birthday, It was a Sunday night so very quiet just another couple eating. Ordered a shared mixed starter for 2, ribs, meatballs & chicken wings the meatballs & wings were very spicy & the strange thing is that there was 3 of each item so where is the sharing, someone loses out. I had a sirloin steak medium rare but the quality of the meat was more like a supermarket steak than a butchers one, this came with 4 small oven roasted potatoes, veg & 3 tomatoes nothing inspiring. My wife had salmon in a creamy & wine sauce which was Ok but nothing special. The house wine we had was more like a table wine but ok, the staff were friendly enough & service good so left a tip even though the we didn't eat all the food & took the left over steak home for the cat. The bill came to £67 which for what we had was expensive. Sorry but we will not be returning,

When it comes to dining out and having Trafford Centre on your doorstep it is the independent local restaurants that tend to get overlooked. I must say that that we prefer going to Via Roma over any chain restaurant in the Trafford Centre. The food choice is typically Italian with a choice of pizza, huge variety of pasta dishes, fish and steaks. The difference is that the food is cooked by authentic chefs rather than the microwaved prepared food you get in chain restaurants. We have been several times and the service & food has been top notch all the time It's a pity it doesn't get filled up on Friday nights as this restaurant is certainly on of the best I have been to

we called in on spec on mothers day for a lunch, we walked in at 1:30pm to a warm welcome from the chef, who told us that they opened at 2pm but he was more than happy for us to go in early. All the staff were welcoming and friendly to us and our two children (aged 4 and 2). We ordered pizza and chips for the children, seafood pasta for me and a sirloin steak for my husband. The food arrived quickly, was delicious and beautifully presented, the steak especially was cooked to perfection. Our 4 year old son unfortunately dropped a glass which smashed on the floor, the staff rushed over to clean up and were very understanding and kind to my son who got quite upset about this. I would recommend this restaurant very highly to families for lunchtime meals and my husband and I will definately be back for a romantic evening meal without the children. Thank you Via Roma for a lovely mothers day treat!!!!!
