Me and my dad went there so he could abandon me so he could go to the GP. He stayed for half an hour, so he can back me up when I say that the pizza was delectable. Pollo something or other is a simple but amazing pizza to have. Is a bit small, though. Since it was small I had the calamari. Delectable once again. Dipping their heads in the sauce definitely gave me an unmatched confidence. DOWN PATRICK DOWN I yelled aggressively before taking g a bite into heaven. Finished with the dessert of pana cotta. I think they forgot the vanilla stick thing, but the presentation was fabulous. Also, I got free ice cream because they were so nice, and my rizz was unmatched. Overall, amazing. I forgot my waitresses' name, but she was amazing. Thank you for the free ice cream. I certainly will be back. She said it was entirely free, but if it wasn't, I probably spent 20-30£s. Or 13,000 vbucks. Thank you for a taste of heaven.

We usually use Fumo at Selfridges, Birmingham, for our mid-shop lunch; so today we thought we'd check out the Northern version. The food was delicious - I decided to go rougue from my usual options, and chose the Sicilian Aubergine Parmigiana; it was so good, I'll order again! Staff were friendly and everyone spoke Italian, which added to the experience. Quieter and smaller than the Birmingham restaurant- but that's sometimes not a bad thing! ;o)

Nice experience at this San Carlo restaurant. Having been to multiple in Birmingham, this was one of the best experiences, with food and service being better than in Selfridges Birmingham. Restaurant is nicely decorated with great views across the main square.

We came here on Saturday 27-7 for my birthday lunch we enjoyed beautiful food in a lovely restaurant with great service!

Today , I went there and I was really not happy, one of the employees, had bad way of talking, as soon as I got in she asked do u have any allergies, I said yeah am vegetarian, she answered back this is not allergies is preferences , I said it’s she insisted and said do you be ill or sick if u eat any kind of meat , I said yes , then said okay in bad way . I don’t know how big restaurants like this don’t give training to employees to how speak to customers and not being teacher or boss on them and keep arguing and in the end I ask the bill . She just put it down and went even did not ask how would you like to pay , luckily I had cash with me just put the money and left . Zero customer service.

We have been in this chain restaurant before in Birmingham and was a good experience. I can't say anything bad about food. I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, this time, they didn't put through our order, and the waiting time for our food was a little bit too long... the managed the problem, they offered a generous discount and I appreciated the honesty. Next time we go shopping there we will definitely go back for lunch.... after all is a good restaurant!

Lovely smiley staff. Absolutely delicious food. One very minor gripe - three of us had our meals & it took a while for the last one to come out. It does say ‘food will come when ready’ but having one person sitting without their meal isn’t great. Other than that tiny little detail, it was fabulous.

We took my Autistic grandson for a pre theatre meal. Tha staff were utterly amazing! The calm atmosphere was perfect. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and can’t wait to return for his birthday meal with his family. Thank you so much for making our evening so special.

We always stop off here for a cocktail at the bar, the in place to be! Stunning cocktails in convivial surroundings, always been a favourite of ours especially for pre theatre cocktails!

Food was great. Service not so! I had a booking, but the maitre’d wanted to share the fact they had a problem, and ended ‘I suppose we are going to have to honour your booking’ like their mess up was somehow my problem, this got me in the wrong mood for a start. Then the service was slow, had to ask for water three times and the bill twice. Second visit to a San Carlo, second time poor service.

Awful from start to finish. Sat without a drink for 25 minutes then no food for an hour. Food arrived and was cold. Ended up walking out. Bad bad bad, don’t bother.

Visited this restaurant yesterday and was shocked by how much the standards had dropped Poor service getting every part of our meal wrong and then telling us that’s what we ordered after bringing the incorrect food back to us . Extremely rude staff shouting to each order across the restaurant This used to be one of our go to places in Manchester not anymore 🙈

Four of us dined at 5pm so the restaurant was not busy. We ordered our mains + 3 side dishes and a garlic bread. 3 of the mains arrived ... looked like starters and were barely hot. Mine was carbonara and was a strange orange colour and very salty. The 4th main + 2 of the side dishes arrived when we were half way through our meals. Minute dish of roast potatoes and similar for the broccoli . We had almost finished our meals when the side dish of fries arrived with the garlic bread. Waiter thought he was doing us a favour when he said the service charge hadn't been added on!! Wouldn't have paid it anyway. Overpriced for minute portions and very poor service...won't be going back!

Mildly arrogant, insincere service. Arrived mid afternoon and the restaurant was quiet, stood patiently waiting to be seated yet the staff were just stood chatting at the bar ignoring us. The service continued on this vein really. Food was fine but couldn’t get over staff strutting around not really interested in customer service, just chatting and joking with each other. You need to refocus on the CUSTOMER. A family came in who you clearly knew and you were all over them but everyone deserves good service, we are all paying the same. Simply not good enough.

Terrible slow service and the food was cold and tasteless. Really disappointing. Will not be returning. I advise people to try somewhere else.

Pleasant lunch spoiled by experiencing the upset on the table next to us when San Carlo could not accommodate the family as the little girl had severe celiac disease. The way this was handled by the manager was unprofessional and it is unacceptable that a restaurant group such as San Carlo cannot work with customers to deliver appropriate food. In my eyes this lowers the restaurant’s standing below many others in the city who obviously employ trained chefs rather than formulaic cooks who cannot waver from a predetermined big chain menu.

Disappointing visit to San Carlos at Selfridges Manchester. Food was very very average and not what you expect from San Carlos. Service was not great, our food arrived before our drinks (which we had to wait ages to order) they added the 12.5% service charge which was a bit of an insult. Views are lovely, have visited London store which is far superior.

We walked in last Saturday night after a shopping day. We had a lot to celebrate. The host was lovely. Found us a space at the bar. My partner ordered a Hugo. The bartender told us they didn't have mint... Ok fair enough... She had it without it... But she ordered and other with the same person but someone else did it. It tastes like edelflower cordial only .. and he put lemon in it... Which does not go in a Hugo it Is line and mint .. we asked for him to he lime instead... And this arrogant ma'am did it but clearly hie ego did like it and he made us feel uncomfortable and talking about us with colleagues after it.... 4 coktails ,50 pounds, not on specs ,arrogant attitude they were more interested flirting with girls at the bar than providing great service to a couple. A shame

This place used to be fab! The head waiter now is awful. He left a huge unattended queue for the longest time. Then he seated ppl at the bar never to be seated at a table. He preferred to keep a mass of empty tables and flood the bar area. Nobody was seated from the bar and they lost a lot of revenue by my calculation in the hour we sat there. Then he let 3 women waltz straight to a table with no booking!!!! Bar tenders were great though - just the man organising the show that let's it down unfortunately.

I went for lunch here today, not my first time.. service is always long ( although they are nice) they take ages to ask you what you’d like and long to do it, I had the sea bass and a few hours after lunch I was throwing it up. Clearly not fresh & clean meats and fish ..

Awful service! Every time I’ve eaten here the service is slow and unprofessional! You can see the staff talking and joking with each other while guests are either waiting for their orders or to pay their bills. At one point they even mistook my order -that’s how inattentive they are. Food is average. Wouldn’t recommend this place and it’s a pity because the location is amazing and the venue looks quite nice.

A rather disappointing first visit to this restaurant within Selfridges. Lovely decor, staff were friendly however we came for the food and it was shocking in every aspect as follows. 1. All food was served luke warm to cool at presentation 2. Sicilian Arancini was the warmest plate served but quite bland in flavour 3. Pollo chianti came as a whole cooked chicken. We were advised that it would take 20 minutes to cook but it came much sooner. It appeared as though it had been previously cooked and reheated. Dry and unappetising 3. Paccheri was flavourless and less than luke warm 4. Broccoli side order was also served cool. To add insult to injury there is a discretionary 12.5% charge which is already added to the bill. Sadly we will not be returning nor recommending it to friends

Front of House friendly confirmed our booking & shown to our table. Prompt service for drinks, We had White wine and Passion fruit mojito cocktails. Tasted grate full of flavour. Given enough time to pick our selection of food. We had Gamboronie Fritti (Tempura Prawns with spiced mayonnaise, Calamari Fritti, ( Fried Squid ) Gamberoni Piccanti (Sicilian Prawns with chilli lemon & Garlic), Tagliolini with Lobster & Cherry Tomato & finally spaghettini with Prawns. Food all served together. Very nice, right temperature, flavoursome, and good portions More wine & cocktails. Little expensive, not complaining as you get excellent service from putting your foot through the door. I highly recommend.

It was a lovely restaurant and the waiter was very nice 😊 however my food was not good my daughters was, she had prawns and a salad I had ravioli the filling was good but the pasta was undercooked and therefore dough. My main gripe was the sauce which wasn’t a sauce but tinned cherry tomatoes squished down I could taste the tin. I didn’t say anything at the time because it was my daughters birthday but I feel you should be aware that this is not good enough, I have Italian family and it would never have been served even in any kitchen belonging to them where the food is blissful.

I just looked for the telephone number to book here again and saw the reviews were 3.7, I was so shocked. We had food here and were so impressed with the quality of the food. It’s one of our absolute favourite places to eat, which is why we’ve booked again. Fabulous.

Terrible business meal. We were informed the food comes when ready and not necessarily in any order. Soft drinks were warm, main course came before starter, a main course came when we had all finished and asked for the bill. Service terrible. Selfridges surely you could replace this terrible restaurant with a business that compliments your reputation.?

I had booked a table for 5 for lunch at a very busy time - on the day of the World Cup England Game and the approach to Christmas and yet the service was attentive, helpful and fun. The food was truly amazing, couldn’t fault it and my friends from all over Europe loved it! And to make it even more special there was a visit from Santa Claus too! Thank you all for making a long awaited reunion of friends even more special! We will be back!

Waited 8 minutes on someone to come and get me seated and was ignored by 3 staff in that time. Eventually someone came and I told them how long I had waited. He just said “ok” turned and walked away. Disgusting attitude from a so called professional.

Although it was quiet busy i was acknowledged straight away and seated at the bar till a table was available. Which was a few minutes i was shown to my table and a waitress duly came over took my order and within a few minutes i was served with my drink and starters they were a mix of breads with dips and then lamb cutlets with sweet potato lovely tasty and hot would reccommend

Food was decent but service was poor! Made to wait to be seated despite having a booking - restaurant was relatively quiet and despite “front of house” seeing that we had waited a little while already, was in no rush to speak to us. Always a little uncomfortable being 2 women who are visibly of colour… Although it wasn’t a great start we were hoping that the food and atmosphere would make up for it. Despite having to wait a while again, this time to be served, perhaps unsurprisingly the couple who were seated after us were served swiftly before us! Our order was not taken for another 10 mins or so. Food was decent but part of the order was missing and other dishes went cold so overall not a great experience. Not my usual experience with San Carlo group having regularly been to the main restaurants in Manchester City centre. Worst part - despite the missing dishes being an error by our original waitress (who was apologetic) the larger bald waiter who served the other couple was extremely rude, abrupt and condescending! Had to put him in his place after which he disingenuously apologised. Cant say I’m surprised but disappointing nonetheless. They’ll be glad to know I won’t be returning.

Great service from all the staff especially Rebecca, always smiling and her service is exemplary, a great asset to any establishment, just makes u want to come back again and again when the service is brilliant, hope to come back again in the not too distant future, exemplary service like I’ve always received there everytime I go makes it enjoyable❤️

Really nice authentic Italian food here. Great location and fantastic service. The portion sizes are quite small so I would recommend always ordering sides to go with your main. After your meal you can head downstairs to San Carlo Gran Cafe and enjoy some lovely desserts and tea or coffee.

This San Carlo is no comparison to the others I have visited over the years. Terrible service from rude staff, particularly the man with the bun! For years we have visited Manchester and always stopped for a drink at the bar in here however the service the last couple of times has been really poor, all I can say is that there are a few members of staff with huge attitude problems.
