Very nice Chinese went down hill a few years ago but now back to its best. Had chicken fried rice and beef curry just as good as going to a good quality restaurant

I had their Special Chop Suey, plus boiled rice. It was great. Sauce, meat, prawns, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and much more. Loved it. I had to set some of the rice aside; their portion sizes are very generous. Seven pounds. The entire former cinema building’s King’s Road side was rebuilt a couple of years ago, so Yau Kee gained a shiny new kitchen. Where some places just offer a windowsill while you wait, they have some seats to sit in. They open later than all the other places in Whitehead. I was easily able to park on the road outside.

This Chinese was one in the area are usual one was closed. It was very quiet. There was 3 orders and the quality of flavour was poor! I’ve been before and it was not great but thought I’d give it a second chance.

There was an event in the Whitehead Summer Festival where the Whitehead Suffragette Society had people in costumes playing the part of real-life campaigners from the early 20th century. When the guided walking tour was complete, some of the performers really needed food. Because it was Sunday evening both Jess’s Plaice and The Whistle Stop were closed. Salvation: the Yau kee, on King’s Road, was still open for business. Chicken and chips were the order of the day, and the hungry performers really enjoyed their supper from Yau Kee.

I had the chicken and cashew nuts from the Yau Kee, plus an extra portion of vegetables, plus boiled rice. Was probably £9.80 and this one meal with the extra portion handsomely fed two people. They get a good 4 for their "scores on the doors" hygiene rating. They open six days a week (closed Wednesdays), and later at night than other places in Whitehead. Great location, you can always park at night on King's Road.

Ordered a meal for our family tonight consisting of several dishes. This is the worst meal we have ever eaten. These people should be ashamed of themselves serving this sub standard food. It all ended up in the bin. We called to complain and got met with zero response. I would avoid this place at all costs. Absolutely shocking!!!

Chinese takeaway. Variety of tasty dishes. Can't be faulted and nice for a takeaway. Would recommend.

We had the char sui chicken with beansprouts, plus boiled rice and a portion of vegetables. I say “we,” because two of us can eat a big meal made from an order of one meal, with the addition of something from their “extra portions” list. It was very good, and very satisfying. There was plenty of chicken for both of us. The vegetables were varied, and included mushrooms, carrot slices, beansprouts and lots more. In the takeaway place itself I was pleased to find a comfy chair to sit in, one that could swivel. The main was 6 pounds, the vegetables £3.80 more. The meal was ready in 15 minutes. Great for a lazy night when you can’t be bothered cooking. They open on Fridays and Saturdays as late as half past midnight.

Had their Singapore chow mien, plus a side order of vegetables. It was a huge meal, even dividing that between two people. Beef, prawns, pork, its the one with all sorts in it. Very enjoyable. Very quick, very polite, professional outfit altogether.

That was my first carry-out from this restaurant. I had a piece of chicken that was battered, that's something that I cannot eat because it's too greasy for me. Once I took that off, the chicken underneath was really lovely and tender. The chips that came with it were delicious, really done to my liking. this will not be my last carry-out from the Yau Kee!

Called in to get chicken in batter with chips, for six pounds. That buys two huge portions of meat, plus loads of chips, easily enough to feed two peckish people at night. The food was great. This place is right on the main street of Whitehead, and opens until late at night. They close Wednesdays, open all bank holidays, and operate from Sun-Thurs 5pm to 11.30pm, and Fri – Sat 5pm to 12.30am.

Lovely meal, great selection, good value, hadn't realised choice of deserts as well included in price , didn't have much room left to enjoy them 😅 . Dine in area could do with added decor to add to atmosphere Chinese restaurants are usually lovely inside but this is basically just table and chairs. Friendly service will be back 😍

I am a man of particular tastes. I am not discouraged be the food I’m eating, Chinese, Irish, Indian or even …. human. However I was satisfied by the food at this establishment, the meat was chewy and textile but the rice was rather undercooked and flimsy. However, I have had more detestable cuisine in my time, when I was a hunter south of the border I lived solely off uncooked pinto beans, as I don’t sleep and only dance I need my energy. This food had helped me dance night and day.
