Yara Whitefeld in Bury

We rang to ask if we could bring our own wine to be told they have a fully stocked bar with that we took it as a no. When we arrived we ordered £23 wine while watching other tables bring their own wine in!! We had a table booked for 7.30pm and the restaurant was deserted…. We did question why! The chicken shawarma was tasteless and had plenty of grit in it. The kofta kebab was better but probably unseasoned. When we were asked how the meal was I did politely give the feedback and the waiter said thank you!!!!! Please save your money and go to Prestwich for a Lebanese cuisine done to much higher standard.

The restaurant is now called Lara. I ordered sea bass as didn’t want meat. They had run out of sea bass and only had salmon steaks which is horrible and no one would now have a salmon steak. Cheap food. Others in our party had ordered falafel which they had also run out of IN A LEBANESE RESTAURANT 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ the service was very poor. I ordered a cocktail which they forgot and had to go to bar to reorder. The food I eventually had to order was tough lamb and dry rice which was inedible.

Worst meal we've ever had. Service was slow and poor to say the least. Spicy Sausage starter had no 'presentation skills' they were just four sausages plonked on a plate ... they'd be served better at a "greasy spoon café ! ... as for spicy !? .. tasted more like Cheap standard Pork Sausages .... Absolutely Awful 😖 The Houmous starter was so bland we had to season it with Salt & Pepper. The mains didn't fair any better ... my Lamb dish looked so aneamic and looked ... well, just awful and to be honest, I wouldn'teven put it out for my dog .... and again, presentation skills were none existent .... My wife's chicken dish, in some kind of tomato sauce, was absolutely tasteless, no seasoning, no herbs or spices .... tasted like a tin of Passata had just been poured over some chicken. Hence to say we didn't finish our meal and when I said to the Waiter ... "This is the worst meal we've ever had !" ..... His reply was "No problem" ... No problem ?? .... what kind of reply was that ?? Absolutely Awful and we'll NEVER go here again ! Don't waste your money like we did.

Always lovely food and great service now changed names but still the same good food. We like to share all the dips and breads with the shami rice . Good value and you can take your own wine.

Couldn’t fault the food which was all fresh , but service a lot slower than you would expect especially given it was very quiet for a Friday night. We had to get up to pay the bill at the bar in order to leave.

Great location easy to get too, staff are friendly, service was quick. Food was amazing and fresh! Recommend the chicken kebabs with the cucumber salad, very fresh.

Was a little worried about coming here based on reviews but I didn't have anything to worry about. We had booked a table but we arrived early and they sat us without a problem. Although it was quite quiet when we arrived, it soon filled up. It had a lovely atmosphere. Food was well portioned and very tasty. My only criticism (and it is only very minor!) was there weren't enough staff. There was only 4 people working, 1 girl was clearly new and looked nervous, so it was only really 3. There was a very large party in the private room at the front and most tables in the restaurant were occupied. That being said we only had short waits, when we needed something we got staffs attention and they brought what we needed. We weren't in a rush and were happy enjoying ourselves We will be back. Thankyou for a lovely evening

This is one of my favourite restaurants the food is consistently good .The staff are amazing ! I go most weeks and can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant .

This is definitely somewhere to avoid no parking, no atmosphere, and poor service the food is lacking in everything from appearance to taste definitely nothing special here. Very expensive for the mediocre amounts I had the hummus with bread and chicken kebabs starter I’ve had tastier from a supermarket very oily and gritty the kebabs were insulting you get more from a cold deli on a ready to eat situation. There is not atmosphere staff although working hard have no interaction. Please save your hard earned cash a takeaway or supermarket is far better and cheaper. Never will I set foot in this establishment again. It’s a -2 out of 10 from me Sorry

We visited this restaurant with other family members recently for dinner. The menu is large which is always a concern for me however on this occasion I’m pleased to say that I was wrong to worry as all the dishes we ordered were really good . I had a cheese pastry to begin with and followed that with the lamb shank cooked with spices and served with rice . I really enjoyed my choices as did everyone else. The corkage charge for wine etc is reasonable & it means it’s a relatively cheap night out . We travelled from Burnley to meet our family here and we’d be very happy to return any time . The service received was really friendly and efficient too .

Nice food but disappointing service which spoilt the dining experience. It wasn't that busy but I can accept a delay if I'm told. I had to call someone over. When we finished our main we were ignored again after they had cleared the plates. Eventually asked for and paid the bill. Is friendly service too much to ask for? We would not go again as the total dining experience is what we look for and we certainly didn't get it here.

Had Deliveroo as had credit which is just as well because if I had paid full price I would likely have given one star if that! Have enjoyed food there before but tonight it was awful. Had vegetable stew with Kabseh rice. The rice was appalling, overcooked and clumpy even worse than my own! And vegetable stew was basically just MASSIVE chunks of watery aubergine, with a few tiny bits of pepper and mushrooms which I specifically asked them NOT to include in a watery sauce that tasted like a tin of tomatoes and bit of chilli powder had been thrown over, really it was a travesty of a vegetarian dish and I threw half of it away. . It looked and tasted liked they had made it in a few minutes. I think this is what really happened as when I rang to ask them not to include mushrooms, the girl originally said they didn’t do a vegetable stew anyway (despite my order being taken) and I could hear a heated discussion with the chef in the background. YARA this is NOT the way to get repeat customers, and this one was very disappointed with what should have been a treat with not having to cook dinner. I won’t go again or at least I will eat in if I do, so it can be returned!

Nice restaurant in Whitefield. Situated on a main road. Great food. Service slightly slow but that might of been down to the fact that it was a Saturday night and was very busy. The place was extremely noisy so if you are looking for a place to go to to chat and eat, this is not the place.

I picked this restaurant for my husband’s birthday as it is local, and we like to support local businesses where possible. We both love Lebanese/Syrian/Middle Eastern food so this was the perfect choice. It’s not many restaurants where I struggle to choose something because every choice seems delicious, but this was one. I chose the Keshkeh as my starter which was light, refreshing and delicious. My husband had the kibbeh Makli which was full of flavour with tender minced lamb. For our main courses my husband chose the lamb basha which had the most flavourful sauce, whilst I had the mixed kebab which had a lovely smoky flavour from the charcoal grill, whilst being moist. The last tender chunk of lamb defeated me as I was very full. The waiters were so pleasant and helpful, yet the service was unobtrusive. Just what you want. It is so nice to eat in a restaurant that still has starched, crisp white tablecloths and napkins. There were plenty of people in the restaurant and there was a nice ambiance. It was our first visit, but certainly not our last.

If you have gluten intolerance, then this is NOT the place for you. My meal arrived as a bowl of finely shredded lamb with just a tiny bowl of supposedly tahini as accompaniment. No salad or rice. The rice has bits of macaroni mixed with it. I was charged the full price of £12.50 for this. The choice for gluten free options are very limited. We won't be returning.

We have been visiting or getting a takeaway from Yara(originally in Altrincham and now we use Whitefield) for 10 years plus. The food is big portions, lots of meat and generally quick from ordering to eating, One new years eve we had 3 courses in less than an hour at Altrincham. Latest order was NYE 2022 from Whitefield, I had Sujok (lamb sausages) very dry bland Lamb chipolata style sausages and Lamb chops for main course again very dry and bland and overcooked. the portions were massive though, mine was enough for 2 people but I will never order these again (Bland with a capital B). I had the Mediterranean salad too and this is the best salad I have ever had, I really could eat this all day and every day and could quite easily be a vegetarian if i had this at every meal. My wife had the hommos Shwarama which was extremely creamy and delicious and came with 3 massive pittas and she also had the chicken shawarma for main course which she enjoyed. I had the walnut honey cake dessert which was amazing. Good big portions but make sure you read the menu and don't just have a meat only dish as it is a bit bland. My personal recommendation is Lahembajeen , followed by Chicken sharhat and a Mediterranean salad and baklava for dessert

Really enjoyed the meal, lots of good meat and also had the Beirut beer and Lebanese wine which were both very good. The highlight for me was the spinach and lamb meatballs. Some good sauces make a difference as the kebabs can be a little dry on their own. Didn’t realise that there is parking behind as not easy to park nearby. Staff were nice but strange we were not offered coffee / desert.

A repeat customer here. Great menu as lots of choice & very healthy too. Lovely decor & attentive staff. Take your own beer too with no corkage fee. I gave 4/5 because it is never full which makes the atmosphere lack. A must try!

We visited Yara before lockdown when it was first opened. Tonight was a first visit since it’s improvements and we weren’t disappointed. The restaurant was spotless, we had a great welcome and choice of table. The staff were welcoming and knew the menu inside out … we had a lot of questions (as usual). Starter appeared in no time… followed by the most beautiful and incredibly tender chicken and lamb dishes we’ve had in Whitefield. Portions were extremely generous and excellent value. Rest rooms were well stocked, clean and comfortable. Decor was of a high standard and the plants were well cared for - big plus on our tick list : ) We will definitely be regulars 👍🏻

Everything about the place is class. Rely nice and clean. Great food, helpful staff and huge portions. Corkage costs apply but you can take your own wine and beers. We were not rushed and it will be a regular place for us

Brilliant food but absolute shocking service, slow service and kicked out as they needed the table, didn't even get offered a dessert menu, just put the bill on table and said again they needed the table. Didn't kick any other customers out that where there before us.

4th visit to Yara in Whitefield and again it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and the staff and service were great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a gem 👍

Super delicious food, friendly attentive staff and a lovely relaxing atmosphere! Prices are sensible and the food is SUPERB! My family have visited Manchester 3 times in the last 5 months and have visited Yara each time for a meal. We’ll be back soon!

Situated on a main road. Very warm and welcoming. Staff very pleasant who go above and beyond. Social distancing between tables. Vast range of food on the menu. All served fresh and with a smile. Warm atmosphere. Highly recommend for an evening with friends.
