Yamm Buffet in Dundee City

The man that was ushering people to their seats was very rude especially to ladies.... Don't think I will visit there again

Great food and relaxed atmosphere, even the fussy ones of our family, got plates full. Great variety of choices for everyone.

The food is good but the staff keep glaring at you with nasty stares and it's unsettling. It even takes away the good taste of the food sometimes. They are quite hostile people but we try to concentrate on the sole purpose of the restaurant which is the food and the food is marvellous but as for staff, I would give zero stars if I didn't feel guilty.

We phoned ahead of going to yams to be told we don’t need to book just to come along , we were not asked upon arrival if we had been here before so did not know that there was a chef to do your steak if you would like one , on arrival the girl asked how old our child was I said 13 she proceeded to say she would be half price then another girl said no she will be full price because of her height ( she had wedge converse on ) absolute disgrace , we had to get our own cutlery too .

Lots of choice but food was luke warm . Also expensive at 21.99

It was my first time here, as it was recommended by my boyfriend who had been here before. There was a great variety of food. I loved the chicken corn soup and the potato+melted cheese meal (I don't know the name). The staff were kind to me and I appreciated it! I would definitely eat here again.

Food is always good. Great variety and always cooked to perfection. Nice surroundings and facilities. Staff always have a smile on their face and eager to help.

It is very good buffet, definitely better than Cosmo in Aberdeen. Food was very nice and tasty, Indian section also fantastic. Only one kind of meat was little stiffer but in so huge amounts of food that can be accepted, and there were other 10+ fantastic different kinds of food. Definitely coming back.

I was in this establishment with my daughter today. I can honestly say its the worst buffet ever. For £15.49 each the food was warm and disgusting. My daughter only ate the chips as only thing hot. To my disbelief a member of staff came out of kitchen with a tray of fresh food. To my disgust mixed it with the food already in bain marie which was cold. Not only once did this happen. I made complaint twice once to waitress then to woman on till. The lady offered me 10% off my bill which i refused. Then i was offered my drinks to be taken off the bill. I says its the food am complaining about not the drinks. To my frustration i paid and left and i wont be back and i will certainly not reccomend.

A good night. Quiet on a tuesday but enjoyed every mouth watering moment. Great service. We spent 3 hours of quality time. Catching up with friends

It’s a great buffet. Great food all you can eat. Deserts are great to. Lovely staff apart from the pizza chef had a bit of an attitude. But one of my fave places to go. The noodles are so good. And salt and pepper chips yum

Gave 1 star as unable to give none Avoid this place, it has gone downhill rapidly Dirty ripped seats, staff in dirty clothes. You pay a higher charge for evening menu, only to be sold the afternoons cheap menu leftover’s. The food is inedible, cold cheap and tasteless No point in complaining as they will only hide in the kitchen or come back 20 minutes later to tell you they are going to get fresh food out… to little too late, they will then threaten you with the police if you try leaving without eating and paying 👏

I took my eldest son for the first time, plenty of choice, and everything was topped up regularly. Service was fantastic. My only issue was how close the tables were together, I was near enough arm to arm with the next table.

Very expensive mistake - no child prices, no alcohol licence, tatty seating, toilets miles away, lukewarm food, would avoid.

Stopped for lunch the food was lovely and hot the seats had seen better days the puddings cold have been better they are shop bought u could have bought better or made some same with the fruit should have been fresh fruit and were just offering soft drinks no alcohol

Went for lunch and got a table no problem which I thought a bit unusual as when it was Jimmy Chungs there was always a queue. The place was very quiet. Ordered a beer but apparently they had an issue with the license. Got sat on the torn tired seats, kept my jacket on because the place was cold, then went for food. Tried the chicken pieces but couldn't get my knife through them. Looks like it had been reheated from the night before. Not fresh and had on odd taste while being tough and chewy. Then we tried the beef in black been sauce. Not one bit of the beef was edible. I couldn't chew it without a possible splinter of my teeth. We tried various other dishes and I could honestly say there was nothing I liked or would try again. Even the korma was bland and tasteless in it's thin watery like sauce. I won't go back and recommend to avoid the place.

This used to be a favourite place for Birthday dinners. They have went downhill rapidly. The place is looking so aged ripped seating, could also benefit from a deep clean. The food was inedible You pay extra for the dinner menu although at 5pm the food was cold and dried out. These had obviously been left overs from the cheaper lunchtime menu. On making a complaint we were approached 20 minutes later and told they were going to be brining out fresh food, too late for us. Staff uniforms dirty and in ironed, some in joggers with rubber gloves? Some staff even sitting sleeping in the entrance area to the kitchen. Honestly couldn’t write about our visit without someone thinking it was out of an episode of still game. Now home and we all have upset stomachs.

Visited on Thursday 1st Feb. Good selection of varied food. Only let down was that some of the food was not very hot. Notified kitchen staff of this and I assume she notified another member of staff who came across to our table and said "to give the food a chance to heat up". Absolutely rubbish as food should be hot coming from the kitchen to the buffet area. Will not be returning.

used to be the dinner slot was more expensive than lunch but the food was better quality , now only one is true, bet you can guess which one ? still no drinks licence and cash only.... place was full of kids havin a great time runing about uncontrolled and having jelly fights . will try next door, more expensive, but full. goodbye Yamms.

Food cold chicken very dry not worth the money cheap cakes

Heard a lot of hype about this place and I finally understand why, but it’s not good… it’s a buffet and that’s about all there is to say about it. The place looks very nice but the hygiene really starts to show when you’re there. The food wasn’t great, with a lot being bland, greasy, dry or just plain terrible. I tried a wide selection here and it’s by far the worst buffet restaurant I’ve been too. Left feeling fine and within a few hours feeling very sick. The teppanyaki was awful, it was just greasy and the squid I had wasn’t even prepped properly with eyeballs and insides all still apart of the final product. Some foods were unlabelled and all deserts were terrible, with all cakes tasting bland or dry and the ice cream tasting bland as anything. The toilets were disgusting and looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while and had broken elements of both toilets as was made apparent by the rest of my party. The staff were very quiet and hard to hear at points There was a wide selection of food but not overly impressed. Ultimately if you want a good buffet you’d be much better off going to Taza in Dundee, or travelling out of the city for Cosmo at any destination. Safe to say I won’t be back in any rush

The food tasted awful from the last time I went. My water had stuff in it even before I had food which grossed me out and I had to pay over £21 pound for 3 people which is ridiculous for the quality of food. I will not be going again.

Not a great gluten-free choice. Needs maintenance. Toilets are a bit grotty.

A self service buffet with a wide sellection of Asian food, freshly cooked and very tasty. Staff were OK but really only bring glasses for drinks and take away the used plates. They seemed disinterested in their jobs and customers, no engagement at all. Not a great atmosphere, very 'canteen-like' despite the updated decor. We went on a Sunday evening and the price £22.95 per person (cash only), despite having two kids: 8 and 12 that we had to pay full price for...! Expensive for what it is. That is why I only give 3 stars.

This place. Is not good the staff are rude I went in and three staff members asked the same thing how many people are eating and my daughter had to put her pram to door and other people with prams were doing what like the food is not good the curry was so salty and some of food was not cooked

I don't know of this place has changed hands but the food was awful!, chicken Marland was tough and tasted strange. The curry sauce was salty. The staff were rude! Asked us to put our pram at the front area when I seen other parents have their prams at the table? What if my child needed a nap? I will not be back again! Awful food and staff!

food was very presentational. unfortunately chicken was a bit tuff.and It did not end good for me or my husband been up all night and having to stop on the way home to use the toilets due to being sick and out the other end felt a bit disappointed. also when was having dinner I felt like a,fish in a fish bowl staff kept staring every couple of mins

We used to go here quite often but place has taken another turn for the worst. Food was awful. Soggy chips/onion rings, food was so bland and then we had dry chewy chicken 🤢 As a family of 5 between us we hardly ate a thing and paid £130 never again!

They couldn’t serve alcohol due to a licensing issue so we had to spend more money at a pub for drinks. The food was great, I would definitely go again

Loads of food to choose from but the Chicken (tryed a few different kinds)was dry, chips were staler than stale...cakes are a little hard even the toffee apple had a burnt taste to them😳 sadly won't be back👋

I have nothing POSITIVE to say about this place. The food was cold and tasteless, the seats were uncomfortable, and the service was awful. There were empty chaffing dishes on display, absolutely unacceptable. Even though we paid more than £20 each for a buffet. Ridiculous! So, on our way out, we were asked about our experience, I expressed our disappointment and displeasure as first time customer. There was nothing to suggest they understood how we felt. The lady at the till just hurried us along to attend to the next customer. Will never go back there, ever!

Food and service was okay for some extent. But the person in the main door is disrespectful to customers. I think he is a manager there. He might be thinking that we come without money. He was really rude. Management should take some actions. He should learn how to behave. There are limited parking spaces in front of the place. And it’s so hard to get one. And the price is too high. There was no difference in the menu between lunch and dinner. £21 for the same food?? No way. Don’t want to go there again.

Food was pretty good, with quite a lot of choice. The place was nearly empty, so wasn't much atmosphere. Drinks were brought quickly. More expensive than i thought it would be, but overall, a nice eatery.

City quay was better but it has those teckle ribs..so all gravy in my book 😊

Went to buffet as it suits family something for everyone great they have all families sitting near each other as nothing as awful when only table with kids and other people staring abojt pizza was very fresh cooked to basically order. Usual selection of meals at buffet nothing out of the ordinary Chinese and italian Indian these places don’t do British food like meats vegetables potatoes Yorkshire puddings. And don’t like the fact it cash only…..makes me wonder what is going on…..

FOOD IS NOW DIRE.... SEE UPDATE 2 staff are polite food was fantastic.. Only drawback... After being open for a few years is still cash only... That I find strange.. Update.... They have dissapointingly removed some of the popular dishes from the lunch buffet.. Update 2.... Will never visit again.. Every single dish was bland... For £16 a meal during the week I want to have a food party in my mouth.. but alas I was eating cold food and bland chicken.... Most of the good items have been removed...

Was there with my German and Uganda friends ( what a mix) we had a king’s ransom of food . I myself enjoyed the incredible cuisine that was provided by the people of the country. My Ugandan friend enjoyed the sushi and chilli it was splendid. My German friend did not enjoy the experience to much as he had a little to much of red wine and was vomiting at a good rate of knots In all honesty I think the difference between Michelin starred and the food we got served was in proportion to the quality and quantity we were expecting to receive

Today was my first time in this type of restaurant, where you pay once and get unlimited food. I paid £23 for Dinner and drink. I was expecting that food will be dry and I was right, but for what you pay it's worth it. I was there just by myself, but I think this restaurant is perfect for meeting with friends or family, because you can spend hours talking and trying food you never had before, you get unlimited refils on drinks too. Maryland chicken is amazing and taste like KFC strips, highly recommend trying.

We went here for lunch after seeing some.of the reviews about having a good variety and good food we were so disappointed. There wasn't too much choice. It said Italian section all it was was pizza with macaroni the pizza was over done on the top and not cooked in the middle. Multiple of there mains the meat was very tough I struggled to cut the pork with my knife and for pudding they actually had Mr kipling cakes they did have a small selection of outher cakes with was probably the best bit of the buffet. There was a ment to be a chocolate fountain but it wasn't on. Service - plates were left on the table instead of collected my partner asked for a pint it came to the ta le amd wasn't even a full pint we were very disappointed with the qhole experience

Only Chinese buffet in Dundee, food is very decent and great selection. Only downfall is it's cash only so you'll need to head to the ATM before heading out for a meal.

After reading all the negative reviews of this restaurant I knew this place was for me. Just take a look at the slop on offer. It's utterly glorious. There aren't many places in Dundee where you can stuff yourself silly and then suffer for the next 2 days on the bog, but this place manages it with flying colours. I will definitely be back.

A place where it can be all you can eat. The food is delicious, and you can eat your fill to your hearts content. They serve all sorts from sweet and sour chicken and pork to fresh real sushi. They even have pizza, curries, rice, and even fresh duck pancakes.

We arrived at approximately 7.45pm and were shown to our table, when we sat down we were advised that we had to pay for our food upfront. We have eaten at the restaurant multiple times previously and have never been advised payment is upfront. My partner paid at the bar and was asked if the food had been ok by the staff member taking the payment, he updated that we have not eaten but have to pay in advance and she seemed confused but he updated we had been told we have to pay before we can eat. We asked the table next to us and they didn’t have to pay upfront, also other diners were paying after they had eaten their meals before leaving. When we left I questioned with lady that had requested the upfront payment about this and was told it was a summer holiday policy, and when I updated we had been there recently and didn’t have to pay upfront and the tables around us never had to do this, I was then told it was due to us being under 25, my partner is 25 and I informed the staff member of this at this point. This made us feel very uncomfortable and put me and my partner off my food, so not very much was eaten. My partner paid just under £50 for us to be treated like 2nd class citizens due to the way we look and I also have a disability and this has greatly impacted on my mental health. I feel absolutely appalled by the way myself and my partner have been treated and this has really shook me up.

Food delicious, staff not so much. 3 of then standing staring at us whilst we are trying to eat. Very off putting. Had to leave early as couldn't enjoy our meal

It is as expected for a buffet meal. All dishes were nice, with the exception of one - we found the chicken Maryland was un-edible. We visited on a Saturday night, and felt way too many people had been crammed into one seating, constantly bumping into others whilst trying to put food on to your plate. Please note they only accept cash payments (odd for such an establishment - hmm). I think we were around £54 for 2 and 2 soft drinks, not the cheapest.

Food was very bad. Chicken was dry and chewy, curries lacked any flavour and all the food felt like they were hanging on the racks for hours. After eating I felt immediately ill and rushed myself to the bathroom. The staff… well didn’t really say anything to us other than seating us and seemed to not care at all. Not to mention they would hover around all over the place just watching and staring but not actually helping. This really made the whole atmosphere like we were in a prison and didn’t really feel like we could enjoy ourselves. I’d stay well away from here. At £17 per person you could go literally anywhere else and get cheaper, better quality food. Frankly I’m shocked at all the 5 star reviews from people, I feel like they’re either fabricated or they lack taste buds

I like a Chinese buffet but usually go through to Edinburgh for one. Yamm used to be really good where the food was hot and tasty. The chef on the tepanyaki has changed recently. This has made a difference. The old chef was awful and was on his phone all the time. Cooking was a chore for him if you interrupted his programme. I just do t understand why they produced Indian curries as they are all tasteless. Stick to what you know . I will go back again when it improves more

Entered the restaurant at 3.45pm during the week, only to be told by the owner/ manager that we had 1 hour... before evening service. Fair enough, but you don't need to be told 4 times. Had we thought about it, we should have left there and then. The food was mediocre, and I am guessing running it down before evening service . Can't fault the waiting staff. The man in question was constantly patrolling the restaurant and basically wanting us out before our allocated hour. Shame because the last time I ate here, it was lovely. Not returning in a hurry ...sorry to inconvenience you.

If you like Chinese food, I can thoroughly recommend this one! Food is well coooked and well presented. A wide variety of dishes, and unlimited soft drinks to boot! What is not to like! Heading back there for dinner tomorrow night!!

Most of the food is alright, chicken chewy, pork was flavourless and chewy, mango pudding was like silicone, Chips undercooked, chicken nuggets has no flavour, satay sauce was like jelly. Manager isn’t very nice. Staff are very slow to replace foods when empty, never any plates. Manager was knocking dust all over the drinks area. Staff tried taking my plate thinking it was finished with while I was still eating and had my fork in my hand 🤣 Some of the food is quite nice (curry was good) Prices bit expensive for the quality of food (£75+) for 3 people.

It's been third time I have been to this place but still has observed the same bad taste of oil. There is some weird smell in chicken wings and other chicken fried items rest is awesome.

AWFUL MANAGER We went in as a group of 7. Food was ok. No complaints. Went to pay and they tried to charge my son (a child) adult price because of his height. I told them I was not paying an adult price for him, he is a child and ate hardly anything. I wasn't paying £22 for him. Manager went mental, saying we were awful people. Trying to keep my sister in the restaurant. We were going to call police as he got out of control..the staff were nice but they certainly need a new manager amd people skills. Awful experience and certainly not worth the money they charge.

I had such an awful experience. The food was good and the waiter staff nice but the manager was awful. Shouting at us because we questioned the children's policy and called us terrible people. He was shouting at my sister and I tried to film it but then he said he would call the police and was becoming aggressive. All over 9 pounds when we paid 170 for our group in total. Awful man ruining an otherwise good place.

Had a reservation booked for a birthday meal today, but we were welcomed by a manager who doesn’t want any under 21s in due to bad behaviour. We were spoke to horribly, I would tell anyone to give this a miss. Manager didn’t care that we were over 18 either. Instead go to Toni macaroni next door

Always a winner for me although can be a bit pricey if ur taking kids that won't eat much but for me I do try to get at least my moneys worth 😉 food is always freshly replenished good quality and tasty that's what counts after all

Went here with my 11 year old son who has learning disabilities,he started to slap the table throw cutlery on ground went to hit me and my grandson , my son does this quite often but give him a minute or 5 he will calm down. The boss man said that we had to leave so i then told him im sorry my sons Autistic he has learning difficulties but he still said that we had to leave and put us out. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
