Yamm Buffet in Dundee City

Had couple of times as dinner and lunch, but last time food wasn’t good, taste was really bad.

Great location. Could have more of a veggie variety and clearly label which dishes are vegan. Especially the dessert need to state if they contain eggs milk etc. They had a nice selection of fruit but wasn't sure about the rest of the desserts.

One of the best buffet experiences in Dundee! Aside from being greeted by a rude person at the entrance, all the other staff were really nice and helpful. There were plenty of options ranging from Chinese and Indian to Italian cuisine. The dessert options were also quite good. Considering the price range, the variety of dishes the restaurant offers is amazing!

Chicken was pink in the middle and I was overcharged for drinks . Unfortunately I didn't notice till after I left and counted up how much I should have been .

Myself & a colleague were working in Dundee this week and after a very long drive we wanted LOTS of food & Yamm buffet certainly delivered! Loads of food options including Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisine. All options were hot & tasty and after 4 big plates of food we both rolled out of there not knowing if we would ever be hungry again. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. ❤️

If I could give 0 I would. The worst food my partner and I have ever had at a restaurant. We are both now violently ill with sickness and diarrhoea a few hours after eating here. The chicken tikka masala did not taste like it, the madras also was not a madras - they actually tasted exactly like each other but it just looked like the masala had red food dye in it. They both had skins over them. As did the macaroni it looked that bad even after stirring I couldn’t eat it. The chips were solid. The pakora was not pakora it was just a chicken ball with a red jacket on. The ONLY (no exaggeration here) fresh food in that large selection was the pizza. Every single thing out was stale as if it had been made and reheated from days before. Disgusting. If you have over £50 to spare as a couple for the worst dining experience of your life but you want to lose some weight for your summer holiday with food poisoning then be sure to check this place out 🤮🤮🤮

Llegamos y el gerente nos saludó y nos dijeron que era dinero en efectivo solo que dijimos que estaba bien y luego procedimos a decir que es £ 21. 99 cada uno - la forma en que nos dijeron fue un poco abrupto. No nos dimos cuenta cuando reservamos que hay un cargo por desperdicio de cualquier plato desperdiciado, quizás no es genial si te llevas a los niños por suerte no nos cobraron uno, pero ir a un buffet que hizo posponer probar cualquier cosa nueva en caso de que no te gustó que creo que es el punto en ir a un buffet. Así que no solo estás realmente pagando por tus comidas, también tienes que pagar extra si no te gusta la comida. Entiendo si vas a subir muchas veces pero incluso en un restaurante normal no te cobran extra si no terminas tu comida. Reservamos para las 12 pm cuando el restaurante abrió, así que pensamos que la comida estaría caliente, pero era tibio. La comida era buena pero no excepcional. El personal de espera era encantador, educado y atento, tomó nuestros platos de inmediato, etc.

Rudely greeted by what we believe to be "the manager" As soon as we entered, we were told cash payments only and had to be out by 9!!! Wasn't best happy with his attitude.Very young staff who looked dead on their feet and hadnt had a break in hours (felt sorry for them). Food was average, no where near worth the £44 for 2 people. Then as we were leaving, saw "the manager" with his hand in the tip jar!

Reasonable price plenty choice would recommend Sat lunch £16.99.

They started packing up the food 40 minutes before closing. By this time my boyfriend and I had not finished eating. We paid £50 between us for the food to just be taken away.

Jan 2 2025 , normally £15 per head, today was charged £22 just cos it was a bank holiday. The place is open 7 days a week, the food isn't any different or better at any time. Its cash ONLY probably cos they pay the staff min wage in cash sod the tax man.

Not much normal variety food in the Starters menu, but the Main and Dessert Meals were really tasty. Staff were excellent.

I was very disappointed today going to yamm with my daughters and a friend the food was nice but every thing was not hot and it should have been very hot but it wasn't the need to check all the food and the temperature of it I felt a wee bit ill when I got home I don't know if I will be back

Poor overall. Some food piping hot and other things like rice and beef lukewarm. Service mixed. Signs up stating some meat items may be pink but are cooked is off putting. Overall do not recommend, not good value for money.

I can't get enough of Yamm... especially their pork dumplings thing...the food is amazing and you get more for the money spent.

The food was absolutely disgusting the chips were rock solid and stale the macaroni cheese had skin on it and all the desserts absolutely stunk disgusting and mr Kipling cakes. £21 per person and none of us ate one plate of food. Staff stood across from our table the whole time watching us eat I felt extremely uncomfortable and toilets are all the way down stairs and no disables toilets I’m heavily pregnant and struggled to walk down the stairs absolutely disgusting I don’t recommend don’t waste your time going here!!

Excellent, really enjoyed it. Only went as Rancho Pancho and Tony Macaroni were fully booked. Couldn't fault it.

Not a great choice of food, some trays with no covers, so food went cold quickly. No alcohol, not great for those who like pint with your curry. No interaction with staff. No disabled facilities.

Went on a Wednesday night. Not over busy but enough to give atmosphere. The selection was vast. Beautiful presentation and cleanliness. Food was really very good. Definitely highly recommended.

Absolutely hands down the tastiest buffet we've been to. Went on a Sunday night for my sons Birthday and wasn't disappointed. Huge array of choice and all tasted fresh. Didnt get a chance to try everything as there was so much but really enjoyed the sweet and sour, the satay prawns, the salt and pepper mushrooms and the prawn toast. Will definitely be back next time we are in Dundee.

Comida sabrosa fresca, algunos personal bastante bajo y grosero (el hombre a cargo también es bastante grosero) , otros muy amables. El lugar está impecable y un buen entorno. El problema principal es la parte de efectivo que me ha disuadido de ir a este lugar antes, que se debe a mí mismo no tener efectivo en mí la mayoría de los días, ya que es 2024 ... Recomendaría si estuvieras atrapado en dónde ir, ya que esto es cuando visito con amigos y familiares. Bonito restaurante limpio con tanta comida como quieras : )

The first visit was really good and the second was really poor. Very varied food taste and quality.

Awful experience. Food was inedible and the staff were spraying cleaning fluid at the next table while we tried to eat. Also had to move the pram as they put us right at the back and kept needing past with dirty dishes on trolleys.

5 star buffet I had abt 10 plates of food if you go there you need to try the egg fried rice so amazing

All the seafood on the poster at the door is given three at a time. Specifically, one scallop is divided into three portions for customers, and customers can only take three per hour. All the hidden conditions are implemented after entering the store, rather than being announced in advance. In addition, the seasoning is very salty, so customers will quickly get sick of it. What is even more despairing is the hygiene conditions. The picture shows where new forks are stored, which really makes it difficult not to get sick. Great food as always just getting bit pricey. But must admit worth it never had a bad meal yet.

First time being here and can say that Yamms has a large amount of food on offer. The food was great, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese and more. The variety of the food was on a very good scale and very tasty softs drinks are refillables and deserts were ok but im not a big desert fan and thier is plenty of fruit on offer. we paid £21.99 per person for the evening (dinner) menu and kids are half price. We didn't book and was walk ins this is a cash only place bit thier is a bank machine right across the road at the top. The staff were very polite and the man who took us to our seats was very nice and cheerful. We sat down the bottom end with a nice seating area. The only thing that I would say looking around the area the top area seating is very worn with tear and wear and definitely needs replacing but this didn't effect us. My daughter misses the fish aquarium from the last owners. Thank you overall experience a 9/10

I would personally like to commend the staff and Sylvia who was totally amazing and so welcoming and kind to my family She should be commended Array and selection of food mouth watering and so good value money wow 🤩

Fair choice of dishes and sides but most of the food I tried tasted bland and some fried items were greasy. That's not to say they all are but I can only comment on what I eat. Staff were very friendly except, you guessed it, the older man in charge who appeared curt. He needs to learn to be friendlier or leave somebody else to do his job. He's not helping to promote a pleasant eating experience at all. The place itself is clean and ok but clearly the decor of previous occupier. Lastly, quite overpriced for what you get. Overall, there's much better out there if you're prepared to travel. I won't be back.

Mi amigo y yo decidimos ir aquí a almorzar el sábado y una vez más no nos decepcionó. Nunca estás atrapado para una opción, ya que hay un montón para elegir. No había bandejas vacías y constantemente se llenan, lo cual es genial. Sé que los pasteles están congelados, pero son muy bonitos. Echo de menos la máquina Mr Wippy, pero las opciones que tienen ahora son buenas y saben bien. El personal y el gerente son serviciales y amables. Siempre recibimos las bebidas rellenables, lo cual es genial. Sé que a mucha gente no le gusta el hecho de que no sirvan alcohol, pero no me molesta a mí y a mis amigos. Es una lástima que sólo tomen dinero en efectivo pero no es gran cosa.

The worst Chinese buffet we've ever been ( trust me we have been in quite a few). We went for a lunch, straight on entry guy said " cash only " that was it, no hello, or good afternoon, nothing ( in fact he looked like he was angry we came in). The lunch menu is very basic, limited and tastless, cold, just not good food. The best part of it was refilled drink and glass of water

DO NOT EAT HERE Worst buffet I have ever had in my life The food was cooked long time ago and sitting under the heat lamps for hours. I asked if they could bring out fresh food and they said not till the old food was gone. This is not the place you want to eat. I’m still in shock on how horrible it was. You better off going anywhere else. They charges us $22 per person and 3.50 per drink. DO NOT GO EAT HERE YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED

The food is good, plenty of choice, kids ate Chinese, Indian and pizza, followed by deserts and fruit. Only downside was hearing the boss telling off a member of staff for putting us on a table of 6 when we were a family of 4. Restaurant wasn't busy, so no problem. The staff are very friendly and helpful and deserve praise not tellings off. Workers of the world unite, you are the wealth makers, the bosses won't make a penny without you! ✊

The food wasn’t really that good, the price was outrageous for what the food was, I am very open to trying food and try not to complain to much but the food had to of sat out for several hours and became very dry. The service was not the best either while they were kind they just all played around with each other and were rude to us. I would not recommend going there at all! Again the food was not the best and the prices were outrageous, £22 for one person, I have ate at better places for much cheaper!

Good buffet in Dundee in a budget. I was craving for asian fusion foods and this place is the best in Dundee. Dumpling and prawn tempura was so good! Prior booking is required. They accept only cash. No card payment. And you need to pay extra for drinks.

Las primeras impresiones fueron malas, ya que no había una advertencia anticipada de problemas de licencia con el alcohol, que luego tuvimos que salir y obtener por separado. Luego, mientras estábamos sentados, notamos que el cuero de los bancos estaba dañado y roto. Los inodoros se sienten como si necesitaran una actualización también, ya que los asientos no parecían ajustarse a las bandejas, no estaban particularmente limpios y el secador de manos también estaba roto. En cuanto a la comida... estaba bien. Algunas cosas eran más agradables que otras, algunas cosas necesitaban un buen revuelo y algunas parecían demasiado secas. Found by chance on a weekend away. All food piping hot and plenty to choose from. Service was on point and very helpful

An average restaurant. Nothing special. Some staff a bit odd. Have to pay cash which is very odd in today's cashless age. Food okay. Something for everyone's tastes food wise. Good selection. Although you do feel at times you are being spied upon a little too much for comfort. Seating area packed in a little too close for comfort although when we visited the restaurant was quite quiet so it wasn't a problem. No alcohol license so soft drinks only. Some seating severely in need of repairs as the covers are scratched or shredded, but the seats we sat on were fine. Would go back as it does offer food for every taste which is great when you have a group who like different foods. And it is all you can eat, even if you feel that some of the stuff are mentally adding up in their heads how much you have eaten! If you can survive the odd feel about the place, then it's an ok evening out!

I totally enjoyed myself here. Was invited for a friend's birthday and was so excited to try different meals from the array. I'm definitely coming back with more friends

Great find just round the corner from our Sleeperz hotel when staying for CAMRA AGM and Members Weekend. So much choice of great food at a great price. Service was great and the place very busy

First time I came here years ago I thought it was great. Hot food, lots of variety, decent price. Visited a couple of weeks ago and when I saw £22 hand-written in felt pen, sellotaped to the door I thought, "I'm not paying £66 plus 3 drinks!!!" (Went to the Turkish place next door.) Ate here 5 days ago and did quite enjoy the food but it's not great to be honest. Not being unkind but it feels quite sad in there and the music is pretty bad too.

Great food and relaxed atmosphere, even the fussy ones of our family, got plates full. Great variety of choices for everyone.

The food is good but the staff keep glaring at you with nasty stares and it's unsettling. It even takes away the good taste of the food sometimes. They are quite hostile people but we try to concentrate on the sole purpose of the restaurant which is the food and the food is marvellous but as for staff, I would give zero stars if I didn't feel guilty.

We phoned ahead of going to yams to be told we don’t need to book just to come along , we were not asked upon arrival if we had been here before so did not know that there was a chef to do your steak if you would like one , on arrival the girl asked how old our child was I said 13 she proceeded to say she would be half price then another girl said no she will be full price because of her height ( she had wedge converse on ) absolute disgrace , we had to get our own cutlery too .

It was my first time here, as it was recommended by my boyfriend who had been here before. There was a great variety of food. I loved the chicken corn soup and the potato+melted cheese meal (I don't know the name). The staff were kind to me and I appreciated it! I would definitely eat here again.

Food is always good. Great variety and always cooked to perfection. Nice surroundings and facilities. Staff always have a smile on their face and eager to help.

It is very good buffet, definitely better than Cosmo in Aberdeen. Food was very nice and tasty, Indian section also fantastic. Only one kind of meat was little stiffer but in so huge amounts of food that can be accepted, and there were other 10+ fantastic different kinds of food. Definitely coming back.

I was in this establishment with my daughter today. I can honestly say its the worst buffet ever. For £15.49 each the food was warm and disgusting. My daughter only ate the chips as only thing hot. To my disbelief a member of staff came out of kitchen with a tray of fresh food. To my disgust mixed it with the food already in bain marie which was cold. Not only once did this happen. I made complaint twice once to waitress then to woman on till. The lady offered me 10% off my bill which i refused. Then i was offered my drinks to be taken off the bill. I says its the food am complaining about not the drinks. To my frustration i paid and left and i wont be back and i will certainly not reccomend.

A good night. Quiet on a tuesday but enjoyed every mouth watering moment. Great service. We spent 3 hours of quality time. Catching up with friends

It’s a great buffet. Great food all you can eat. Deserts are great to. Lovely staff apart from the pizza chef had a bit of an attitude. But one of my fave places to go. The noodles are so good. And salt and pepper chips yum

Gave 1 star as unable to give none Avoid this place, it has gone downhill rapidly Dirty ripped seats, staff in dirty clothes. You pay a higher charge for evening menu, only to be sold the afternoons cheap menu leftover’s. The food is inedible, cold cheap and tasteless No point in complaining as they will only hide in the kitchen or come back 20 minutes later to tell you they are going to get fresh food out… to little too late, they will then threaten you with the police if you try leaving without eating and paying 👏

I took my eldest son for the first time, plenty of choice, and everything was topped up regularly. Service was fantastic. My only issue was how close the tables were together, I was near enough arm to arm with the next table.

Very expensive mistake - no child prices, no alcohol licence, tatty seating, toilets miles away, lukewarm food, would avoid.

Stopped for lunch the food was lovely and hot the seats had seen better days the puddings cold have been better they are shop bought u could have bought better or made some same with the fruit should have been fresh fruit and were just offering soft drinks no alcohol

Went for lunch and got a table no problem which I thought a bit unusual as when it was Jimmy Chungs there was always a queue. The place was very quiet. Ordered a beer but apparently they had an issue with the license. Got sat on the torn tired seats, kept my jacket on because the place was cold, then went for food. Tried the chicken pieces but couldn't get my knife through them. Looks like it had been reheated from the night before. Not fresh and had on odd taste while being tough and chewy. Then we tried the beef in black been sauce. Not one bit of the beef was edible. I couldn't chew it without a possible splinter of my teeth. We tried various other dishes and I could honestly say there was nothing I liked or would try again. Even the korma was bland and tasteless in it's thin watery like sauce. I won't go back and recommend to avoid the place.

This used to be a favourite place for Birthday dinners. They have went downhill rapidly. The place is looking so aged ripped seating, could also benefit from a deep clean. The food was inedible You pay extra for the dinner menu although at 5pm the food was cold and dried out. These had obviously been left overs from the cheaper lunchtime menu. On making a complaint we were approached 20 minutes later and told they were going to be brining out fresh food, too late for us. Staff uniforms dirty and in ironed, some in joggers with rubber gloves? Some staff even sitting sleeping in the entrance area to the kitchen. Honestly couldn’t write about our visit without someone thinking it was out of an episode of still game. Now home and we all have upset stomachs.
