Yakuza Teppanyaki Restaurant in Sheffield

For more years than I can remember we've loved Wasabisabi. Now (Dec 2023) sadly gone.

Ordered twice in the last two weeks through UberEats and the order never got delivered and got cancelled. It is outrageous because we spent 40 minutes thinking it will arive but cancelled last minute and all the other chinese shops have closed by then!!! Don’t order from here!!

The food looks absolutely delicious! The presentation and colors are so inviting, Great job!

an absolute disgrace of a restaurant, inauthentic and brings shame to the entire culture of sushi and Japanese dining. Nothing about this place is good. it is for people who have no idea of how good sushi is meant to be. miserable faces of the waiter and waitress, long delays between food, unmade tables, disgusting tatty menus, effing Christmas music playing!! avoid avoid avoid. hope you go under and close down. I emailed the owner of this restaurant twice going into every detail of our horrific experience. I even attached a photograph of the receipt as proof of our presence. All six of us left you a review and we have actively been dissuading people from ever going to your restaurant because not one of my emails was responded to. I was completely ignored. You ruined my birthday meal. we came august 15th approx 6pm. please hire better staff for a start.

Never had Japanese food before but we was pleasantly surprised it was lovely the service brilliant and the chef was funny entertaining and produced quality food great place for a celebration 🍾 with a difference

I’ve always loved it here. I used to visit weekly to get me through my final year of university. Glad to return many years later and experience wonderful Japanese food. I am vegan / plant based which has never been an issue here and can always find plenty of menu items to enjoy (clearly!). The staff are always lovely and helpful and the decor inside is authentic and tasteful. I’m glad to have moved back to the area so I can keep visiting WasabiSabi 😊

Do not go here. Everything was awful. Especially the service staff who clearly had not been trained to do check backs or have any nt personality. Never going here again

Terrible! Used to come here for a luxury meal...fillet steak and lobster on the set menu, now it's been replaced by sirloin steak and where is the lobster?? Everything in this town is going downhill!

We went to wasabi sabi for my son's 12th birthday. We had the teppanyaki lunch menu which was £20 per head. We had a great time and they went out of their way to make it special for my son. The food is amazing and for a 3 course meal I think it's well worth it. The service was great.

Try the spicy ramen - absolutely amazing!

Really good food, well made and tasty. Chaotic service bordering on terrible. Restaurant wasn't busy and they still got parts of our order wrong, forgot drinks and took other parts of our order to the wrong table. Not sure why they need a massive TV on the wall showing what looks like a prank show either.

Vibes and food was 10/10!! Shoutout to Mai and Benoit :) chicken is also halal

Teppanyaki is an amazing way to celebrate a birthday.

The staff were really friendly and service was good. The food was over powering with a certain product. I was vegan and the chef definitely wasn't aware of the foods I couldn't eat. My family was also gluten free and the some of the same food was mixed from everyone else's meals. Its pricey for the evening.

Had a tasty mix of tempura, sushi and sashimi. Really enjoyed it. Especially the tempura. Service was friendly, food came quickly.

Great place and great atmosphere. Food prepared in front of you on the tapanyaki table. Chef was great and interactive and the food tasted great!. Shame its closing down in Feb 2023 😔

Probably not the place to have Japanese food. The ramen soup is flat, lack of ingredients compare to others. You can definitely find a better one in the city centre

What a great meal we had here , we decided to book the tepanyaki menu where they cook your food in front of you. ! We were not disappointed , you can choose from a number of different set menus we chose the prawns fish and steak courses. All "show" cooked Infront of you with Japanese style. We left full and satisfied. The restaurant when we went was quiet (weekday ) but gets busy at weekends. If you fancy a treat and something a little different try Wasabi sabi and enjoy 👍

Lovely Japanese curry (with breaded chicken!) and an Asahi beer at sensible prices. Can also recommend the box meal with steak and salmon. All it needs is a smile from the staff ...

We did the normal dinner. Ordered absolutely loads of amazing sushi and other plates. Including drinks on top it was very well priced! Will go again 😊

Went there with friends. We had a lovely time, tasty food and we had a good "show" with the food from the experienced chef. I never imagined that I will eat "fried" ice cream 🙂

This place has gone down hill. I had a lovely bentonite here 10 years ago. Now, it's poor.

Our cub group went as a part of doing an international badge. Boys had such a great time, simple and very tasty food that was all gone 🤣👌thank you for looking after us

We went to Wasabi Sabi on a Saturday for lunch. I didn't enjoy the lunch to be honest but I have to admit the miso soup was very nice. Apart from that, we ordered avocado maki and they were ok, they are not the best I have tried but it was ok. We also ordered two bento boxes with boiled rice which was too dry. The teriyaki chicken was also dry, I just ate two pieces and I left the rest. It tasted like something that it wasn't fresh, it was dry and it felt as if it would have been heated in the microwave too much time. The vegetarian bento box was better although the rice was also very dry. I get very surprised that the price of a pint of diet pepsi is £3.80😱

Good food, nice atmosphere and I recommend the teppanyaki and wasabi cocktails!

Only clicked one star as needed to review! No stars are deserved. The food is disgraceful. Ordered a lot of food including salt and pepper chips. They were cold and dry. Was told over the phone they are simply chips with added salt and pepper 🤷‍♀️ Not what I expected for £6 or have had from better Chinese/Japanese restaurants. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ORDERING HERE!

Fantastic place for Japanese cuisine, we had the sushi platter, the Beef ramen, yasai gyoza and Edemama beans. It was all really well cooked and delicious, the venue and facilities were clean and tidy and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend for family and friends.

Went last week. Staff and service were great throughout. Food was poor. Lacked any sort of flavour or texture. Had multiple starters which weren't bad. Then went for bento box and couldn't eat most of it as poor quality ingredients (chicken and salmon). Was really looking forward to this and for the price for two £60+ hugely disappointing.

Always love this place ( so you are wondering about the one star ) I made a 1 hour journey to get to the restaurant, to find they have changed the opening hours and the restaurant was closed!!!!! ( believe me I was livid) Super disappointing, update the hours on the website and save disappointment!!! Make sure you phone ahead and check they are open !!

Went for a birthday, and the teppanyaki was a brilliant experience, the chefs were super charismatic and cooked some delicious food, would definitely reccomend, especially if you like garlic

Scrumptious food, all prepared in front of us, the chefs are artists in their own right, entertaining us as they cooked.

Best restaurant in town for us. Teppenyaki is just a blast. Food cooked to perfection in front of you that tastes incredible. Well worth a try for any occasion. They even make it into shapes and messages.

I have just had lunch here with my husband , the food was absolutely delicious, i got sushi (deepfried) and it came with fish eggs on it and i didnt realise. I am pregnant and unable to have fish eggs at moment they were so lovely about it took it straight back and made me new. My husband had tapanyaki and it was excellent. Every one here including the owner (I think hes the owner) were so friendly , very welcoming and lovely. Definitely worth the drive from Rotherham. We will be back soon. Thank you every one at wasabi sabi!!

This is a really great restaurant. We've been lots of times, this time we just had lunch, a bento box and steak but it was still lovely. When we've been before, we've used the tepenyaki which is amazing. Good chefs and entertainment but even better food.

Fantastic food and chefs antics make for a great event

We had a very tasty lunch this afternoon. We had bento box and oodon noodles, they were delicious. The service was very good, social distancing was well observed.

I've been here about 5 times in the past and the food was very good but the sixth time the food was somehow horrible have you guys changed the Chef ? The chicken was raw and it didn't have a lemon sauce instead they've put a lemon near it, tako yaki was too soft and tasteless, flaming dragon sushi: the prawn in it was like mushi prawn very weird, like i said i i have been in the past a few times and it was cool maybe they changed the Chef but if you did please change it back. Later edit After a couple of hours i think i got food poison, big fkin diarrhea and changed to 1 star review instead of 3, thank you wasabi just spend 50 quid for a horrible meal to find later I've got food poison.

Excellently prepared and good quality food, little bit noisy however. Difficult at times to hold/hear conversation.

I have been several time previously and this place has been fantastic, unfortunately this time was not so good. We arrived at 18:45 and were seated quickly which was nice, however it then took nearly 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Once we had order a dish arrived approximately 10 minutes later..Brilliant quick service !! Not quite.. turns out they got our order wrong and delivered the wrong food. No matter we ate everything anyway and the rest of the food was correct, however after we had been there an hour we reordered our original dish, we then waited 30 minutes for this food only for nothing to arrive, meanwhile guests were coming and going all around us, I then asked our waitress if the food was arriving only for her to say it would be a 'Long wait' as she began pressing our order into the machine 'they had forgotten...'. at this point we had been here nearly 1hr 45 and I had had enough and asked for the bill. Again the waitress went off and began pressing the machine only to then disappear for a further 15 minutes. Absolutely shocking experience..

Nice sushi and amazing crab claws also the waiter seemed very nice. He was always smiling. Great service in all.

Really quite excellent Japanese restaurant in Sheffield city centre. Quality of the food is respectable, and the service is efficient and attentive. The staff are also friendly enough to recommend items from the menu that actually suit your requests rather than pushing any external agendas. Try the fried eggplant - it’s surprisingly tasty, and the miso soup that comes with the bento box servings is light and fresh, again an unexpected but fully welcome delight for a free side. The wasabi ice cream is awesome!!! Will come again.

The food there is so nice, not only that but the staff are wonderful if they notice that you have finished your drink they will instantly ask if you want another. I'd definitely recommend people to go here
