Amazing sashimi and ramen. Absolutely recommend!

Very enjoyable and fast service

Excellent range of Japanese food - sushi, ramen, yakisoba, gyoza. We loved everything that we ordered.

I arrived quite early for an evening meal, around 1615 and had the place to myself, it soon got busy when I left at around 1730. I ordered a mixture of gyoza, different sushi (hosomaki & maki) and an agedashi tofu. I thought the food and service was excellent. The music was not to my taste and a little loud. Would definitely recommend and visit again when I'm back in the area.

Very nice food, quiet atmosphere and attentive service

What an excellent place to eat this Japanese good...mouthwatering and delicious. We went in date night and didn't book the table...opppsss.But we got table when we reached there. Love the ambience, and you could see the kitchen and food being cooked. We placed the order for starters which were Vegetable gyoza and summer loving from sushi bar. For mains we ordered Chicken Karaage from wok and Vegetable Kare from Curries section. The food came very quickly. We also ordered Yuzu Mitzu for drinks. The food overall was delicious and highly recommend it.

This Japanese restaurant is truly exceptional! The food quality is outstanding, with each dish tasting authentic and delicious. We tried several items, and every one of them impressed us. The service is quick and attentive, and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. The decor is beautiful, and the presentation of the food is exquisite. If you're in Cardiff, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Best sushi I've ever had! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 I must say that still after all this time no sushi restaurant I have visited has bested my experience here. Truly a one in a million find.

Ramen with Salmon and shrimps was excellent. Miso soup as well. Sushi was very good. However very small pieces. Wine card matched to the food. Service was fine.

Poor quality of food. Not authentic Japanese cuisine at all. The tempura nigiri was chilly when served. Ramen broth is terrible. I expected a pork broth but end-up with a miso soup like broth. And also they half cooked the salmon and put it into the ramen which I have never seen before. We have ordered a fried chicken with fried noodles as well. The fried chicken doesn't taste good but the noodles are surprisingly tasty. Staff were nice though. Will not go there again

I went for a solo date at Yakitori last week for an evening meal. Restaurant opens up at 5.30pm for dinner service. The atmosphere was quiet and chilled. I didn’t have a table booked but the concierge seated me straight away as it wasn’t busy. I was drawn to the restaurant due to its halal options however to my dismay there wasn’t a lot available in regards the halal options. They’d ran out of chicken katsu which is a favourite of mine but instead I settled for the salmon stir fry rice and a spicy dragon roll. Food came out really quickly and I was given a complimentary miso soup to get started with my meal. Sushi was delicious and so was the salmon stir fry. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Overall great experience I was just disappointed about not having much to choose from. I would recommend. My bill came to £30.00.

First time but won't be the last time. Great selection of authentic Japanese cuisine. All very tasty.good prices too. Tiger prawns can't compare to the ones you would get in Japan. But everything else is superb. Yaki soba was delicious. Chicken gyoza were some of the nicest I've had.even tried the unagi(eel).duck and plum rice rolls were fantastic.All totally delicious.partner had the chicken rice which also tasted great.cant wait to return and try some other delights.

Yakitori is my Sushi restaurant. Delicious food. Amazing service. When in doubt, just go here and you won't be disappointed.

The portions are so small! Doesn't really taste like authentic Japanese food at all. Wouldn't order from here again to be honest.

Okay tasting sushi thats too pricey for the fairly small portions. A much better pick than YoSushi but I'd recommend checking out some of cardiffs other sushi restaurants

Eating at Yakitori1 is always delightful. Their fish is absolutely delicious — their white fish sushi and sashimi the absolute best on Cardiff. Strongly recommend the Seafood Miso as well if you're not a fan of sushi and nigiri. Their plum wine is a must! The place is lovely, and staff is always friendly! Recommend booking on busier night hours, but walk-ins usually more frequent when we've been for lunch. Strong recommendation and mine and hubby's favourite pick in Cardiff Bay area.

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here on Wednesday. We had chicken gyoza, tempura soft shell crab, nigiri special, sashimi special mango mochi, and refreshing yuzu mitzu. Everything was delicious and the sushi melted in the mouth - favourite dish was the sashimi special platter. Service was quick and polite, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Great food and service and even bought out a cake and candle for my partners birthday. Highly recommend!

The food is quite delicious, full of flavour and perfect sized portions. Service is great and the prices are reasonable, the menu is very extensive so will be going back again to try more options!

Ate the food quicker than they bought it me. Had chicken ramen, two different skewers and a couple of Japanese beers, all very delicious and filled me right up. I would go again if I'm in the area, thank you.

Most buffets I'm used to are mountains of oily cheap food eat joylessly by morbidly obese families. Bit grim. The food here is actually good. The people who come here aren't a majority of fat slobs. Some here or there obviously There's even some Asians here. Which is always a good sign also The staff is friendly and quick. Quality and then quantity here which is a very rare thing for a buffet. One thing is that the dessert is a joke. Couple of tubs of the cheapest ice cream tubs that you can buy in a cheap cash n carry. But id rather a focus on good main courses. You should come here. It's good. Youl be telling your friends

The sushi here is impeccable. You definitely get what you pay for. It’s fresh, fast and well served. We regularly dine in here, and have also popped in to take away on the fly too! It’s very close to lots of others bars and the Everyman Cinema, which is handy.

My family and I visited this Asian restaurant in Cardiff Bay the day we picked up our son from university. We enjoyed a quick lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the food was good. We were pleased to find plenty of space and no need for a reservation. The service was prompt and efficient. Located in a central part of Cardiff, this restaurant offers an excellent opportunity to explore the city on foot. It's a convenient and reasonably priced spot for a quick bite if you visit Cardiff's beautiful city.

It took 30 mins before someone took our order, then we had to flag down a waitress to get the bill. The place wasn't even half full. The food wasn't great. We had the karaagi ramen and gyōza. It was the most British ramen, I think, I've ever had.

We didn't have a booking, but we were very lucky 😊 ❤️ and given a seat. Food is generous 😇 and delicious. Service super fast 🏃‍♀️ 👌.

A total mismatch between the number of staff and the number of customers ie about 3 people cooking for about 50 customers. This led to one of our main courses arriving cold. This was after a long wait after our starter. A polite server took the offending cold main away but by the time it was brought back hot (at least 10 minutes later) my partner had shared my main and didn’t want to eat alone. The waiter did all he could to make things right but it was a very disappointing visit.

I came in today (5th of may) with my sibling and their partner. We had tempura, ramen, sushi and desserts which were all delicious! The food and drinks arrived very promptly and were fresh and tasty, and we will definitely be back for more!

Fabulous Sushi served by lovely staff in a basic setting. The food rivals many 5 star hotels and restaurants we have eaten in. First class.

Arrived in the bay before a show a the wmc needing something nice and quick to eat. Fancying noodles we did a quick Google search and found yakitori 1. Was a bit worried about times as we only had an hour to the show but from ordering to finishing and paying it took 20 mins. We both had a from the wok meal (duck for him prawn for me) and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you so much. We will be back

Fast food when you need it to be

If you’re new to Japanese food this place is a decent spot. However if you’re not new, the flavours just aren’t hitting. It’s a decent place to go to when in a pinch. Although I did go during peak times with my family, the service was a bit lacking lustre as I had to keep stopping the waiter to ask to take my orders get cutlery etc, however they were always polite and lovely. They no longer serve mango sticky rice for dessert which was disappointing but the match ice cream was great. Ramen broth lacked some umami, but the scallops from the grill for starters were a highlight. The sushi platter on the other hand, the nigiri I felt had too much rice and the fish itself wasn’t the best. I’d likely come back if I’m craving Japanese in Cardiff but it’s not a place I’d recommend to a friend.

The spicy stock served of their Ramen dishes is phenomenal and a must-order, I’d recommend the beef fillet. Their “Little Something Extra’s” were very complementary with the main, again, I’d recommend their classic miso soup. 10/10 and fair priced.

It’s ok, been to much better sushi restaurants. No photos on the menu next to the names or on the online menu so if someone hasn’t been for sushi before or been and what you looking for ain’t on the menu it’s kind of hard to understand. No napkins on the table just given one, need alot with sushi. The wasabi was really watery also no signal on phone so need wi-fi password!!! Iv been to sushi restaurants which will knocks spots off this one, this is a tiny bit better than Tesco and Asdas sushi Take away!! And that’s saying something…. Definitely want go here again, waste of time

I’ve been here a few times and enjoyed every time. With sushi loving friends and my husband who is less of a fan of sushi. Lunch was delicious. We had yaki soba (mine with duck and a drizzle of plus sauce, his with beef fillet) accompanied by some gyoza and chicken parcels. All delicious. Great service. Didn’t disappoint.

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in the Bay (aside from Greggs). Always bet on Yakitori to have good quality food. Recommend Stir fry and curries than the Ramen. Too bad they don't have pork options/broth for Ramen, would've been perfect.

Our first visit to this restaurant for my wife and I. We visited on an early Monday evening at 17:45. It was not very busy, which we like. Shown to a clean table and overall looked well maintained. The menu was in good condition and there was plenty to choose from with a few helpful pictures and the waiter was helpful. We chose a shared starter Yakitori 1 nigri special and from "The Wok page" we ordered as our mains "Cha han with duck" and "Yaki Sobi with salmon". All the food was excellent and arrived very promptly. To drink we each had a bottle of coke. The bill was £59.80. Well worth it in our opinion and we would go again.

Found the food over priced compared to similar resteraunts. The waitress seems very unhappy, maybe she shouldn't be in this role!

Met up with family for a meal at this lovely little place. Staff were very accommodating. There are tables with chairs down both sides of the restaurant and down the centre are tables with bench seating. As all tables only seat 4 and there were 6 of us, we were placed on benches. This seating is not suitable for me so the lovely staff put 2 other tables together so that we could all have chairs. The food was lovely but I think it was expensive for what you get however I guess the location puts the prices up.

Food is un-authentic and the non-Asian waitress is so miserable and rude. This is definitely one of the worst ‘Japanese’ restaurants in Cardiff. Proper shocker.

For a party of 5 people or more you need to make a reservation. The seating is basic wooden benches and not meant for comfort. The food was served up randomly and wasn't very tasty or well cooked.

We’ve been to Yakitori1 so many times over the years and whenever we have family and friends over we tend to take them here. Absolutely obsessed with their Ramen and to be honest pretty much everything they serve.

Havent been here for a while and the food was as good as ever. All fresh, hot and very tasty. Ramen was very tasty, beef was stunningly cooked. Only 4 stars for atmosphere as we went at a quiet time.

Sashimi and shushi were all lovely and fresh. Rice in the sushi is adequate enough not to overpower the taste of the fish. Service crews were all accommodating. Enjoyed being here, surely will go back next time!

Really great restaurant. The prices are on the higher side but I felt they were worth it for what we received. My partner and I went for our anniversary dinner so we splashed out quite a bit and ordered lots of food. The chicken katsu was delicious and the duck ramen was amazing. The sushi was lovely as well. Chicken gyozas were very tasty. I couldn’t fault the experience at all. I’m very pleased with it and we’ll definitely be visiting again.

Nice place to stop for lunch. Ordered a sushi roll from the £10.95 lunch special which was a decent portion and tasted great. The yuzu mitzu drink (not included in the lunch deal) was sweet and refreshing, and the wasabi was a good amount of spicy but not too overpowering. Wait time was quite quick as it wasn’t too busy when we went. Atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were polite. Was an especially hot day so could have done with some air conditioning but overall had a good experience.

Fantastic restaurant with an amazing variety of foods, I had the duck ramen which was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the feel of the restaurant, the atmosphere and food felt very authentic and I will certainly be back to try more things on the large menu

This was our first time here and to to say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Food is fabulous, plentiful, presented well and extremely tasty. Service was attentive and the staff advised us well. Overall a wonderful experience. Try it I think you will love it too 😀

We were disappointed. The food was very mediocre: the salmon in the salmon teriyaki was very dry, the chicken katsu was dry and not crispy, the chicken yakitory didn't have much taste, the noodles felt like instant noodles and the sushi was not the best we've tried (and it was expensive). The service was nice but could be better. Also, we asked for extra teriyaki sauce which never arrived.

We stopped by this place for a quick dinner. Plenty of available tables for us to choose from when we got there. Food was OK, my favourite being the chicken katsu curry. Nice curry with juicy chicken cutlet. I also liked the salad with sesame dressing that came with it. Ramen was a bit unorthodox, but still good. The maki, however, was disappointing. For the price, I expected better. Very thin slices of fish and it could have been rolled a bit better. Overall I think it may be be better to go for the non-ramen hot food selection. Not bad, but a bit pricey.
