Yakitori1 in Cardiff

Really great sushi place in Cardiff. The fish is fresh and the quality of the rolls is definitely worth the price. Which is not unreasonable for sushi. The staff are nice and the atmosphere is calm and friendly.

The staff and the food were incredible. After visiting Japan it was with some trepidation that we decided to book yakatori 1 in Cardiff but oh my goodness it was amazing! Definitely coming again! I wish I could recommend a specific dish but they were all sensational!!

Genuinely incredible food, staff were lovely, and the place is spacious so you can have a conversation in private. Portions and prices were great too. Would highly recommend!

If I could give more stats I would. This place was so good! The food had so much flavour, good portion sizes and the fish was sooo fresh. The service was quick and attentive. They had a good choice on the menu. I had the salmon and tuna sushi and the yaki soba salmon. I recommend this place and would definitely come back again!

Best restaurant in Cardiff. A must try place

First time, was very nice, you select what you want and cook it yourself.... Lots of meat!

We had dinner here during our holiday, considering we went to a few of Japanese restaurants, we wouldn’t say that food here is particularly better or worse, but was enjoyable. However we hated the atmosphere there…kind of cold or indifferent. Wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a cheerful atmosphere.

Food was good allthough the portion size could have been bigger. The service was excellent.

The best sushi I have had till date. Excellent place to enjoy Japanese cuisine. The chicken katsu curry was brilliant.The curry was flavourful and the chicken was well cooked. Nice n cozy environment by the bay side to enjoy the most delicious food! Enjoyed my food and my visit.

I've walked past this place a million times, and it was time for a visit. The menu is a thing of beauty. Simple and effective images. The main was £13:50 for the Chicken Karaage. Decent. I'll be back.

Tasty lunch options with a reasonable price

I've been here a couple of times when I've come to Cardiff and really love the food. It's so delicious and great value. I would highly recommend dinner here. Just bear in mind you need to ask if you want your dishes served with a break between courses, otherwise everything might come at once.

I had an absolutely amazing meal in Yakitori. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home, and checked on me to make sure everything was okay. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, and very well decorated. I ordered the duck gyoza with two chicken Yakitori skewers, and the food came out very promptly. The ramen broth was so good, and the duck was delicious and crispy. The skewers were also lush. The food was also very affordable. I had a great time at Yakitori1, and I look forward to visiting again soon.

A nice restaurant with a good selection of food with a lot of authentic dishes and a nice drinks selection. Can't fault the food or service, but the restaurant can feel a bit cold and sterile which is a shame.

Fabulous food. One of our favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Visited tonight for a family birthday meal and as always didn't disappoint. The ramen and sushi are amazing.

We had the beef curry and ramen with vegetables. Ramen: the broth tasted bland and the noodles weren't quite cooked through. The flavor of the vegetables was boiled out and then fried without seasoning. Curry: could also have been a Beef Stroganov from the Maggi sauce pack on rice. Had nothing to do with freshly cooked Japanese cuisine. Service was OK.

We ate chicken katsu curry, chicken karaage ramen and various sushi. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant looks nice and is clean. Thank you for brilliant service and a tasty dinner. We will definitely come again.

Wow. What an amazing experience we had at Yakitori1! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was quick and delicious. Perfectly cooked chicken, sticky rice was perfect and the sushi was so fresh. Please go visit!!!

I had the veggie ramen and the broth was so tasteless. I nearly asked the waitress to double check that it has been cooked properly or that all the ingredients had been added. I didn’t/couldn't eat any of it. The battered veggie sides were nice though. Everyone else’s food looked nice and had no complaints but mine was just abysmal. Please have a look at the recipe and see if there is some way of adding any sort of flavour to it.

Very enjoyable and fast service

Excellent range of Japanese food - sushi, ramen, yakisoba, gyoza. We loved everything that we ordered.

I arrived quite early for an evening meal, around 1615 and had the place to myself, it soon got busy when I left at around 1730. I ordered a mixture of gyoza, different sushi (hosomaki & maki) and an agedashi tofu. I thought the food and service was excellent. The music was not to my taste and a little loud. Would definitely recommend and visit again when I'm back in the area.

Very nice food, quiet atmosphere and attentive service

What an excellent place to eat this Japanese good...mouthwatering and delicious. We went in date night and didn't book the table...opppsss.But we got table when we reached there. Love the ambience, and you could see the kitchen and food being cooked. We placed the order for starters which were Vegetable gyoza and summer loving from sushi bar. For mains we ordered Chicken Karaage from wok and Vegetable Kare from Curries section. The food came very quickly. We also ordered Yuzu Mitzu for drinks. The food overall was delicious and highly recommend it.

This Japanese restaurant is truly exceptional! The food quality is outstanding, with each dish tasting authentic and delicious. We tried several items, and every one of them impressed us. Best sushi I've ever had! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 I must say that still after all this time no sushi restaurant I have visited has bested my experience here. Truly a one in a million find.

Ramen with Salmon and shrimps was excellent. Miso soup as well. Sushi was very good. However very small pieces. Wine card matched to the food. Service was fine.

Poor quality of food. Not authentic Japanese cuisine at all. The tempura nigiri was chilly when served. Ramen broth is terrible. I expected a pork broth but end-up with a miso soup like broth. And also they half cooked the salmon and put it into the ramen which I have never seen before. We have ordered a fried chicken with fried noodles as well. The fried chicken doesn't taste good but the noodles are surprisingly tasty. Staff were nice though. Will not go there again

I went for a solo date at Yakitori last week for an evening meal. Restaurant opens up at 5.30pm for dinner service. The atmosphere was quiet and chilled. I didn’t have a table booked but the concierge seated me straight away as it wasn’t busy. I was drawn to the restaurant due to its halal options however to my dismay there wasn’t a lot available in regards the halal options. They’d ran out of chicken katsu which is a favourite of mine but instead I settled for the salmon stir fry rice and a spicy dragon roll. Food came out really quickly and I was given a complimentary miso soup to get started with my meal. Sushi was delicious and so was the salmon stir fry. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Overall great experience I was just disappointed about not having much to choose from. I would recommend. My bill came to £30.00.

First time but won't be the last time. Great selection of authentic Japanese cuisine. All very tasty.good prices too. Tiger prawns can't compare to the ones you would get in Japan. But everything else is superb. Yaki soba was delicious. Chicken gyoza were some of the nicest I've had.even tried the unagi(eel).duck and plum rice rolls were fantastic.All totally delicious.partner had the chicken rice which also tasted great.cant wait to return and try some other delights.

Yakitori is my Sushi restaurant. Delicious food. Amazing service. When in doubt, just go here and you won't be disappointed.

The portions are so small! Doesn't really taste like authentic Japanese food at all. Wouldn't order from here again to be honest.

Okay tasting sushi thats too pricey for the fairly small portions. A much better pick than YoSushi but I'd recommend checking out some of cardiffs other sushi restaurants

Eating at Yakitori1 is always delightful. Their fish is absolutely delicious — their white fish sushi and sashimi the absolute best on Cardiff. Strongly recommend the Seafood Miso as well if you're not a fan of sushi and nigiri. Their plum wine is a must! The place is lovely, and staff is always friendly! Recommend booking on busier night hours, but walk-ins usually more frequent when we've been for lunch. Strong recommendation and mine and hubby's favourite pick in Cardiff Bay area.

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here on Wednesday. We had chicken gyoza, tempura soft shell crab, nigiri special, sashimi special mango mochi, and refreshing yuzu mitzu. Everything was delicious and the sushi melted in the mouth - favourite dish was the sashimi special platter. Service was quick and polite, I'd definitely recommend this place.

The food is quite delicious, full of flavour and perfect sized portions. Service is great and the prices are reasonable, the menu is very extensive so will be going back again to try more options!

Most buffets I'm used to are mountains of oily cheap food eat joylessly by morbidly obese families. Bit grim. The food here is actually good. The people who come here aren't a majority of fat slobs. Some here or there obviously There's even some Asians here. Which is always a good sign also The staff is friendly and quick. Quality and then quantity here which is a very rare thing for a buffet. One thing is that the dessert is a joke. Couple of tubs of the cheapest ice cream tubs that you can buy in a cheap cash n carry. But id rather a focus on good main courses. You should come here. It's good. Youl be telling your friends

My family and I visited this Asian restaurant in Cardiff Bay the day we picked up our son from university. We enjoyed a quick lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the food was good. We were pleased to find plenty of space and no need for a reservation. The service was prompt and efficient. Located in a central part of Cardiff, this restaurant offers an excellent opportunity to explore the city on foot. It's a convenient and reasonably priced spot for a quick bite if you visit Cardiff's beautiful city.

The sushi here is impeccable. You definitely get what you pay for. It’s fresh, fast and well served. We regularly dine in here, and have also popped in to take away on the fly too! It’s very close to lots of others bars and the Everyman Cinema, which is handy.

It took 30 mins before someone took our order, then we had to flag down a waitress to get the bill. The place wasn't even half full. The food wasn't great. We had the karaagi ramen and gyōza. It was the most British ramen, I think, I've ever had.

Quick service amazing food nice price

We didn't have a booking, but we were very lucky 😊 ❤️ and given a seat. Food is generous 😇 and delicious. Service super fast 🏃‍♀️ 👌.

A total mismatch between the number of staff and the number of customers ie about 3 people cooking for about 50 customers. This led to one of our main courses arriving cold. This was after a long wait after our starter. A polite server took the offending cold main away but by the time it was brought back hot (at least 10 minutes later) my partner had shared my main and didn’t want to eat alone. The waiter did all he could to make things right but it was a very disappointing visit.

I came in today (5th of may) with my sibling and their partner. We had tempura, ramen, sushi and desserts which were all delicious! The food and drinks arrived very promptly and were fresh and tasty, and we will definitely be back for more!

Fabulous Sushi served by lovely staff in a basic setting. The food rivals many 5 star hotels and restaurants we have eaten in. First class.

Arrived in the bay before a show a the wmc needing something nice and quick to eat. Fancying noodles we did a quick Google search and found yakitori 1. Was a bit worried about times as we only had an hour to the show but from ordering to finishing and paying it took 20 mins. We both had a from the wok meal (duck for him prawn for me) and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you so much. We will be back

Super nice food. Recomend trying the lemon and honey drink if you like lemonade.

Fast food when you need it to be

If you’re new to Japanese food this place is a decent spot. However if you’re not new, the flavours just aren’t hitting. It’s a decent place to go to when in a pinch. Although I did go during peak times with my family, the service was a bit lacking lustre as I had to keep stopping the waiter to ask to take my orders get cutlery etc, however they were always polite and lovely. They no longer serve mango sticky rice for dessert which was disappointing but the match ice cream was great. Ramen broth lacked some umami, but the scallops from the grill for starters were a highlight. The sushi platter on the other hand, the nigiri I felt had too much rice and the fish itself wasn’t the best. I’d likely come back if I’m craving Japanese in Cardiff but it’s not a place I’d recommend to a friend.

Outstanding, every time we go its absolutely Outstanding. Best sushi I've ever had. Incredibly fresh, exceptional service and atmosphere. Sitting in is a great treat but to be honest, the takeout service is also 👌

The spicy stock served of their Ramen dishes is phenomenal and a must-order, I’d recommend the beef fillet. Their “Little Something Extra’s” were very complementary with the main, again, I’d recommend their classic miso soup. 10/10 and fair priced.
