Really welcoming, attentive and helpful staff (Hasnain and others), serving deliiiiiiiiiicious food. Quick but not rushed.

I’ve been to yakinori multiple times now and the food is always amazing. My favourite dish is the karaage chicken donburi which I had on this occasion and it was delicious as always. I’ve had the bento boxes and pokenori before as well and I would highly recommend them. Especially the kabocha pumpkin and cauliflower bento box which is one of the nicest vegan meals I’ve ever had from a restaurant. On this visit, I learned that apparently the menu has changed since I last visited but the menu items generally are very similar, if not the same, which is nice because the food was great before. They no longer serve miso soup with the donburi though which is a little disappointing but that doesn’t take away from the experience too much. One of the good things they’ve changed is that they used to fill the drinks right to brim of the glass to the point of it spilling everywhere and leaving liquid over the table. I’ve left a review for yakinori before about how that was the only downside to my visits so I’m glad to see that they have taken this on board. We were served by Hasan who was very attentive to us so the service was superb as always. We had a great dinner here at yakinori. If somehow you haven’t visited this place yet and you live in the area, definitely give it a visit. It’s one of the best sushi/Japanese restaurants in the area by far so the food and service will not let you down.

Lovely food. Waiters were very friendly, especially Hasnain! Had the chicken udon noodles and they were to die for. All in all, magnificent.

Ordered from Uber eats. This is the 5th and final time I will order from here as 3 out of 5 times I’ve ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, it has come without the sauce! So just plain chicken and plain rice! Yum! The food that did come was tasty but wholly let down by frequent mistakes

We had a fantastic time having a sushi masterclass with Vahid. It was lots of fun, super informative and in a really nice relaxed atmosphere. They catered for all tastes, so if fish isn’t your thing, they offer plenty of alternatives and nothing was too much bother. We made so much sushi we all ended up taking some home with us and the sushi modelling made us all laugh! The staff were so helpful - from booking and letting us do the class in selly oak rather than their normal venue to on the day! Am going to be recommending to all my colleagues and booking up for my daughter’s birthday.

We visited Saturday lunch time, I was with a friend and our teenage daughters (during a shopping trip). It was super busy but, unlike in other places, that made absolutely no difference to the quality of food or service. Srijan was perfect, attentive & smiley. He must have been run off his feet but it certainly didn’t show. We had various wok fried noodle combos, bao buns and a katsu curry- all piping hot and delicious. Yakinori remains a firm favourite 😊

really good food. it was busy and so many uber eats people waiting but they got our food out within 15 mins and it was so good. the free miso soup i got with my meal was seriously amazing and the katsu sushi sandwich thingy was delicious. shoutout to Atika who was a really gracious host and was super polite and friendly. will defintely go again as restaurant was really nice.

The ultimate chicken box was amazing with such extravagant flavours and the sauces with which the chicken was coated was really amazing! Vridhi with excellent customer service made us feel very welcoming! Was my first time experience with this cuisine and it was really amazing! Also my frnds loved their individual dishes too! Service was impeccable, Vridhi made sure that I was well looked after, wait time for the food didn’t take more than 5 minutes with the Chefs very accommodating to my intolerance. The food tasted amazing that I cleaned my plate, I lost definitely will be back.

Best restaurant located in Selly Oak near the University of Birmingham. We tried their cucumber sushi, chicken katsu curry and firecracker chicken poke bowl. I really liked their Poke bowls, although simple it is really delicious. Their sushi and katsu curry was nice as well just bit too classic and boring for me. However, considering it is located in a student area the prices are a bit expensive.

Amazing food and fantastic service!! Khrissna was excellent! He took the time to talk through the menu and let us know his favourites & recommendations which was really really nice & very appreciated. The food was absolutely delicious!! We had the bao buns, chicken & prawn fried rice and the classic katsu curry everything was piping hot & really tasty!

It was such a fulfilling experience, the food was great, was a balance of both taste and quantity. The staffs were very cordial and welcoming, Adrita & Riya. They were really helpful with explaining the menu.

Khrissna was so lovely that I would come back her again just to be served by him! He thoroughly explained the menu and had so many recommendations of his personal favourites which also helped us pick from what to choose. Extremely attentive although he had 4 other tables to serve and I’d say this is the best customer service I’ve ever experienced in my 3 years of living in Birmingham! We always come here for an evening out for great food and service. In particular we were served by Adrita who took wonderful care of us and ensured we had everything we needed. Any questions we had were answered and she was so willing to ensure we had everything we needed (e.g. information about allergies/ halal food etc.) I would say the service here has never let me down and Adrita's help today helped solidify my choice to always come to the selly oak location.
