Y Popty in Ceredigion

What a superb place we have been staying locally and have popped in here a couple of times the pasties and sausage rolls are very good and realy good value

Not impressed. Brought some rolls and the sell by date isn’t for another two days! I Opened them for lunch and there’s mould spots on all of them. Tried to call the bakery from the number on google and it’s disconnected! Should have got my bread from Watson and Pratt !!

The food is always amazing and we always make a trip over when we holiday in the area

This isn’t a proper bakery where they bake their own bread, which disappointed me. It’s prepackaged from a local company and is also sold at the convenience store down the road. I’m sure this place does great hot food (as mentioned in other reviews) but I didn’t try that. I went in at 8.30am on a Saturday and the cake counter was almost empty and the pasties still cooking. I bought two Paradise Slices but wondered afterwards if they were the previous day’s batch as they tasted quite stale, unfortunately. I wish I’d saved my money.

Bought two doughnuts that were stale. Pasties were just ok but the overall food quality is poor. Not the nicest bakery in town and you can tell the ingredients are cheapest of cheap.

Fabulous traditional pasty would definitely visit again for one. Flavoursome & tasty. Ordered a cheese pasty which turned out to be some sort of curried filling. So not as expected! Millionaires shortbread & carrot cake a little disappointing.

Great little bakery, incredible value for money. Really like the sausage rolls, very good freshly made baguettes too. Good place to pick up some Welshcakes and Bara brith too

The service is absolutely wonderful in Y Poptys. I went in for a Belgium bun today, there wasn't any on the shop floor, the man went somewhere to find me my sweat treat, and delivered it back to the counter where he held a wonderful conversation, he really understands about the small things in life.

Very disappointed with the cakes I bought. Brownie was nothing like a Brownie, more like a rocky road and the cream cakes I later found to contain synthetic cream not fresh.

Bought cream doughnuts from here and they were stale! The bakery is not one of the best and quite a lot of the food is just not pleasant. I’ve stopped shopping here

Lovely little bakery in Aberaeron. We always have a pasty, I would highly recommend the lamb and mint. There is also a great selection of bread and cakes.

This is a bakery not a cafe! Bought some cream donuts. Packed in a lovely box but on taking them out to eat - every single one was stale! These are the worst donuts we’ve ever had. And it was fake cream. This really is an awful bakery . Everything tastes of cheap ingredients. No idea where 5 star reviews came from. YUK

Visit here every time we are in Aberaeron on holiday. The giant cornish pasties are absolutely delicious and we always get a filled baguette and a sausage roll to take with us for the journey home.

Best treats around, lovely service with a smile. Worth a visit.

Amazing little bakery and such good prices I cannot fault it! Cornish pasties are so tasty! You have to restrain yourself here, believe me! Would recommend to anyone passing. The waterfront is just around the corner with ample seating to enjoy your delights with a scenic view.

Incredible pasties and sausage rolls are a must. Will go for a "paradise slice" for dessert next time

Visited "y Popty" this week in the centre of Aberaeron. I suggest you try their "Cornish Pastie" equivalent, absolutely brilliant, great customer service from Jonathan, a Baker and a very impressive display in the shop of their products. Then eat the takeaway in the park opposite . Congratulations to this great advert for Aberaeron.

Delicious pasties. Only came across this village as we wanted to drive the coast road on the way home from holiday. So glad we did. It's a colourfull place and the pasties tossed off our stop.

Lovely food. Hand made baguettes, freshly cooked pastys, bread and lots of yummy treats. Very well priced and friendly staff.

Amazing food, customer service and even had a joke around with the staff and everything was amazing. Definitely recommend them if you want fresh food and if you fancy having a joke around too.

Sausage roll was lovely, served hot and staff happy and smiling. I found my shortbread was a bit dry and my sons jam and cream donut was hard.

I had to visit a shop nearby so thought I would go in this bakery and get some lunch. The wholemeal vegetarian pasty was perfect beyond belief and very well presented. Alas, the cream doughnut was so old it bounced as I threw it away. Some you win; some you lose.

Saturday 9th October 2021 Bought cakes I have never tasted such Vile...tasteless. hard...cakes in my life.... Also welsh cakes.....are like rock in a day..what is going on.

I go to aberaeron every summer for a break and go to ypopty lots of times while I'm there,friendly staff,professional set up,10/10

Very helpful and friendly staff who managed to find me some tasty chocolate chip Welsh cakes.

We daily had our fruit loaf which came from this bakery, when we couldn't get it from the bakery itself we found that the 2 local costcutters in aberration and new quay sold their products too. Fantastic cakes and breads, best around

The food is good. The attitude isn’t. And it’s 2020, so why insist on cash? I’ll probably look elsewhere next time I’m in Aberaeron

Popped in for a few fresh buns and left with half the shop. The bread is really fresh and tasty and the cakes were just so tempting that I left with a few options to treat ourselves with. Friendly staff, lovely produce, simply lovely.

Lovely bakery food and good selection of everything, but the most obnoxious and ignorant shop assistants I've ever come across. They also insist on cash, but it has to be the correct amount or close to it. When I offered a £10 note for goods valued at £3.40 I was told, as if I had just offered her some muck off the floor, "what do you expect me to do with that", not "I'm terribly sorry but we don't have any change" or words to that effect. I ended up having to come out empty handed with no appology. Out of the two serving the short dark haired older lady is the worse. It's a pity as I've always enjoyed food from the Popty on our annual summer stays in Aberaeron. If it wasn't for the service, I'd have given them 5 stars.

Been visiting this place whilst on holiday in the village, great place for fresh bread, cakes and pastries. Lovely sandwiches, sausage rolls and pasties are delicious, Lovely friendly staff.

Popped in after a good run on the beach and visit to national trust centre (also worth a visit if you have kids) the bakery smell drew us in an the man serving was most helpful in choosing.... Not easy when you have 5 adults and 4 children! Short bread was great, iced buns and cream cakes were very good and the Welsh cakes perfect. We even went back for bread! Well worth popping in and if you can find space sitting down upstairs but it was very popular so we enjoyed sea views instead.

This is a bakery, it’s reasonably priced and the quality is excellent .Lamb & Mint Pasty is top notch ... BUT ... the large Cornish Pasty is without question one of the best, if not THE best, I have ever had anywhere, including Cornwall .Oh, and there is a version of the American Corn Dog but made with mash potato instead of the corn batter ... unusual but definitely worth a try .

I popped in here on the recommendation of a and it certainly met my needs for lunch. The smell of the bakery was overwhelming and the staff were kind and helpful. I bought a pastie and chicken tikka bagguette. Thank you

Popped in on a rainy day for a snack. Lots of choice,we had a cheese and onion pasty and a cornish. Reasonable prices and lovely taste on both. Friendly service.

We popped into the shop to buy a nice cake, but we were met by a very unfriendly lady, who gave us the impression she was not happy in her work. Not much choice, and the “chocolate brownies” we bought were nasty. Wouldn’t recommend.

We called into Y Popty today for lunch and was firstly disgusted by the attitude of the woman that served us, she was continually patronising and secondly the food that we purchased was quite frankly disgusting. The coronation chicken bagette was tasteless and the bread as hard as rock. We purchased egg custard tarts and to say they had a soggy bottom is an understatement, they were dripping! We also purchased a cream turnover and when you bit into it the cream was only on the outside, the middle was empty. The pastry was also hard . There is no way that cake was fresh today! Needless to say everything went into the bin.

Called at this shop at 2.30pm for fresh baguettes but refused as they had put baguette fillings away??? Very bad business!!
