It was a cold damp day, the inside seating was full, There was one man in the kitchen, washing up and preparing food, and one young girl on the counter. There was a long line of people waiting to be served. The food was basic to say the least, we ordered 2 pasties which came out of the warmer, just luck warm. We asked for 2 panini’s which took over 45 mins to come!!!! We have been there before, but will think x2 before going again.

Stumbled upon this little cafe last year after following a sign for the beach. Nothing fancy, good sandwiches, panini, sausage rolls, drinks, ice cream, great spot just behind the beach and cheap car park. They also sell buckets and spades, nets and other beach bits. We made a point of stopping here again this year with a few hours spent on the beach. Bonus is there are public toilets.

Two teas, sausage roll, scone with jam/clotted cream and a slice of carrot cake for around a tenner. All served by Graham and his very friendly/welcoming staff, in a bright, clean and pleasant environment. Perfect after a stroll along the beach, which incidentally, has just been voted the No. 1 beach in the entire UK! What's not to like? Pay a visit, doubt you'll be disappointed. Unless, of course, you're a regular at London's Dorchester Hotel for a high cream tea! Very dog friendly too, did I mention that?!

We found Llandanwg beach halfway into our holiday in Wales. Apart from the parking being right next to the beach, the other great thing about the beach is Y Maes Cafe. Instead of having to fiddle about making picnics and sandwiches for our day at the beach, we just had food from Y Maes cafe. There is a good choice of sandwiches, paninis, pasties and sausage rolls. If you have a sweet tooth there is also a good selection of fresh cakes and ice creams. The cafe is only a couple of minutes walk from the beach, and the beach itself is huge with lovely white sand and a few rock pools for the crab hunters! They also have an alcohol license, so when it is time for a well earned rest from the sunbathing, you can grab a cold beer and cool off in the shaded seating area at the front of the cafe. If you are in this part of Wales, make sure you have a day at this beach and lunch at Y Maes.

Having found the lovely beach at LLandanwg and had a good walk we were ready for a drink at least. We came off the beach and found Y Maes. More than your average beach café. With seats both inside and out. Great friendly staff and lots of choice to eat from icecream and cakes to sandwiches and meals. We had the Bara Brith - a big slice which was very moist and after a big hotel breakfast was all that we needed for lunch. Loved it

Graham and his team did a wonderful spread for my 50th birthday bbq. They couldn't have been more helpful, the food was cooked superbly, we were able to drop off and store drinks in advance (which they kindly chilled for us), and put up decorations. The location was perfect, just around the corner from a lovely beach, with a beautiful view of the mountains and just across the way from the oldest church in Wales.

Not a bad coffee, no problems with a dog once sitting outside. There is a pay and display parking and I would love if those pay and display parks would allow to just pay for a day of parking but the ticket would be valid for all the parkings around, but probably it wouldn't be possible. The only sad thing at this site is that people do smoke outside (which of course is normal) but once you are with the dog and sitting outside, it's just the way it is.

The freshly made sandwiches are delicious, but the hot drinks are still poor We called here around twelve years ago the coffee was poor, called in this week had a latte it's like that cappuccino out of a packet, but we had cheese and onion sandwiches very nice and fresh, next day tried the tea not very good, so called in today just had a coffee with milk but its out of the same machine its worse than the latte, they would be better off using nescafe and Hot milk,

The 'Beach Cafe' sign from the main road invites you down a winding narrowish road to a car park amongst the dunes. Y Maes Cafe is alongside the car park. As well as being a cafe it also sells beach stuff such as buckets and spades. Windbreaks can be hired. While we had an OK'ish cup of tea it was slow going at the counter. Three members of staff watching the proprietor work at the till and waiting to be told what to do. So for us just average really. I wouldn't go specially.

This is a wonderful cafe in a great location! A short walk to the beach, reasonably priced parking, great view of the Rhinog Mountains and a really friendly welcome! Lovely selection of food, called in twice during a holiday, once for morning tea and biscuits which was first class and then for lunch...couldn't fault it, excellent jacket potato with salad, choice of fillings and a really comprehensive menu too. Indoors and outdoors seating, papers and magazines to read, a real 'find' ! You can also hire sun loungers and windbreaks. There is a very historic Church in the dunes, well worth a visit. The staff in the Cafe are all so friendly and helpful, a pleasure to visit! You won't be disappointed! Loved it!

We came across Y Maes Cafe while walking on the Wales Coast Path. After a detour via the nearby blustery and lovely beach, we ended up outside this cafe. It has indoor and outdoor seating and we sat outdoors on a day when the sun was shining,We ordered a couple of coffees. The coffee was very good and the overall standard of the cafe and coffee (and food on offer) was way beyond what we expected from a cafe in a remote location.I picked up a business card which says they offer sun loungers, wind breaks and beach toys, as well as a range of food and drink. A great place.

Ahh, Llandanwg... A little seaside village that runs down a hill from the top of the famous Harlech. While it may seem like just a simple road to the beach, Llandanwg will forever hold a special place in my heart, for it was the place that we always stayed during our family holidays in a small farmhouse just on the left before the railway bridge.Sadly the cottage is no longer available for renting, but I still make a point of visiting Llandanwg each time that I travel to Wales.A nice addition to the beach is the Y Maes Cafe, which used to be a beach shop and general store. Now, however, it is a lovely little cafe. Ideal for that cup of tea, dollop of icecream or can of coke. Y Maes also does hot food, as well as various snacks - the paninis are especially nice. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly. I will say one thing, make sure that you are clear when you place your order, as it can get a little confusing if it is busy.At the bottom of Llandanwg is a child's paradise. Large, open sandy grasslands. A small harbour with crabbing potential. A vast, sandy beach with many, many rockpools. So much to do, Mum and Dad can simply relax. There is also a very special church near the beach. Over a thousand years old, and buried for centuries under the dunes, this church has no electricity and is original in every way. The candlelit services are a must see.To sum up, Llandanwg is a perfect base for a family holiday. Camping, caravanning and bed and breakfast are all there.Give it a visit, you will return.

We popped into this café at the beach in Llandanwg and were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received. It was a damp windy day and even so the café was open for business and serving up coffee/tea/snacks and even ice cream should you want it (one child did - of course!). We stopped and had a coffee and a cake and the owner made us very welcome and stopped to chat to us and ask where we were from and tell us all about the area and how he had taken over the café and re-opened it this year. He was very friendly and we met someone as we were leaving who said she pops in every day when she's walked her dog on the beach and has a chat while her dog enjoys a welcome drink of fresh water outside under the covered eating area. This small but sweet café is definitely worth a visit and we will be back.

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth
