An awful experience the table smelt of a dirty dish cloth . The restaurant was more like a very poor road cafe . The choice was very limited as no meat platter no fish no chicken tikka left us with lasagna or pizza. No curry accompaniment available. Salt and pepper in packets as were all sauces. Nothing offered with lasagna such as salad or garlic bread or Parmesan. Would not recommend this restaurant. The other restaurants at Forest Hill’s Elmers court and Dona Lola are all excellent so why this mess at Plas Talgarth?

The first trip was a disappointment but when discussed with the lady at the bar, she understood our position and gave a refund, which we respected. We made a second visit and all was good. The Farmhouse pie was delicious and I would have it again. Mashed potatoes just as I like them. Fish cakes massive and plenty of flavour. The lady who assisted us the night before was charming and helpful as was the other lady who politely encouraged me to have a double gin! Recommend the gin selection. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

The bar was run by 'mum', the kitchen apparently by 'dad' and most of the table service by a barely pubescent early teen girl who knew nought about the menu. The 'pate' was a slab of cheap supermarket pate with four triangles of standard white bread (one slice in quarters), the 'medium rare' sirloin steak was a piece of topside, somehow cooked through without a single mark of Maynard reaction (ie no sign of browning or grill marks) and was as tough as saddle leather, and the penne pasta was served with raw white mushrooms stirred through. All in all quite unpalatable for a total waste of over £50

While stopping at Plas Talgarth we used the Y Domen Las restaurant a couple of times for breakfast and had the Sunday lunch al food was to a high standard and the staff were all very friendly and hospitable, my father in law was unable to manage the stairs to main restaurant but staff arranged a table for us downstairs and bought the food to us making the restaurant both accessible to us as an entire family and ensuring we enjoyed the meal, very happy and would definitely recommend.

Great staff & friendly, helpful service - nothing was too much trouble. Great Sunday carvery with generous portions & food well done: choice of lamb, beef or pork sourced locally and a good selection of vegetables with plenty of gravy. And Yorkshire puds too. Dessert choices limited but home made and tasted homemade having tried the apple crumble (& custard) and chocolate fudge cake (with cream, ice cream or custard). Would definitely return if in the area.

Our new go to place for Sunday lunch, the best carvery for miles (Trust me, we've tried them all over the years) and the staff couldn't be more helpful with 'adjusting' the children's menu for our picky kids.. Made to feel welcome, awesome value for money food and relaxing.. Try it soon before everyone discovers it..

Lovely service. Handled our hung over and chaotic group in desperate need for food. The food hit the spot. Again, lovely.

We came with 3 kids for dinner. Lovely location with good pub grub, brilliant for families with colouring books and pencils provided. Service was absolutely brilliant. They are run by a lovely family who are so good at what they do even when they are short staffed and busy.

During our short stay at Plas Talgarth we had a lunch for 6 and also a traditional breakfast. On both occasions the food was excellent and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. If we had realised earlier in the week how good it was we would have eaten there more. I would certainly recommend eating at Y Domen-Las.

Booked a table for a family of 4 on a Sunday dinner time, gave an hours notice with no issues. Yep the bar etc needs some paint and TLC but you can’t fault the staff enthusiasm and quality of the food which was also reasonably priced. Would we visit again- YES.

Food was over priced, tasteless, run out of beer. We Waited 20mins to get served a drink to find staff sitting out the front drinking and smoking. Bar women threatening to bar people and running around clearly stressed. Tables with empty glasses everywhere and were still there the day after. Complained to reception and they explained it’s been taken over and to speak to the new owners who don’t seem all that bothered. Used To be such a nice atmosphere now like being in a morgue so depressing.if you saying in the Manor House bring ear plugs.

The bar and restaurant are freshly reopened and clearly understaffed but the folks that work there clearly take great care and want to deliver the best possible service. Currently open from noon to 11pm, with last orders at 10:30. Because of the short staff, the food service can be a little limited, you need to prebook and show up on time to guarantee a table and food, especially on busier nights. I had 7 long nights at the bar, food on 4 days, and I left satisfied every night, a highlight of my trip. The bar is friendly to both pets and children. With board games and books to borrow from the mansion house atrium. The price is a little on the expensive side for some items, but the quality exceeds expectations for me. Given it's a captive audience and the next closest meal is 10-20 minutes drive away I don't see the prices as particularly high BBQ nights can be arranged with advanced notice. That said there are areas that could be improved on over the coming months with the hiring of more staff: The chef makes many meals to order which means that food is fresh and piping hot but can be a little on the slow side. There is a little room for improvement with the menu, the vegetarian options are quite limited. Not all the items are on the menus either which can be a little frustrating with 5 or 6 different menus with overlapping items to find everything. The kitchen shouldn't really get swamped to the point of turning away customers unless every table is full and there are takeaways too... but the place is short-staffed, I was understanding while I saw occasionally others were not. The takeaway idea could be expanded with deliveries to any apartment on-site or phoning the orders in. I could see many people doing this, but solve the staffing first. The drink selection was limited, but the bar and restaurant have undergone a complete change of staff and availability dramatically improved during my stay I don't think there was a bad drink in the house though there were things that could have been there which are not, the fridge really doesn't store enough bottled items, J2Os, flavoured Ciders, Speciality Beers have become a staple of many restaurants and the bar just doesn't have the space for these, even the liquor selection was shallow, I'm sure this will improve over time. There are many missing features from the bar compared to my last visit but I think these are more a reflection on MacDonald's resort than the Y Domen-Las franchise. The welcome Meeting, Darts and Snooker Competitions and pub Quizzes add to the lively nature of the bar I remember it being standing-room only on these nights and once the staffing is available and the existing staff have a little more experience these could certainly see their return. I'd like to see kids' drinks expanded, a week-long bottomless drink for the kids for hot summer days by the pool and alcohol-free cocktails for a little spice might make the child experience one to remember for years to come, and it would certainly invite the parents along to the bar in the evenings. Like I say the place was Amazing considering the pressures, Andy worked 7 consecutive nights while I was there and my first was not his first, Kelly, Robin, Chef, and many of the other servers all took the time to have conversations with me or recognised me when I walked in which was a nice touch. I hope that they can find a few extra hands before they experience burnout.

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth
