Stayed here for 2 nights. The owners were very friendly, room was clean and although there’s a pub downstairs it wasn’t too loud

We visited as a group of three adults. Bar with a terrace or seats inside,we sat outside so a friend could smoke. Comfy enough.the staff also spoke Welsh, and were helpful enough. Sad;y beer was abundant, but they stocked no bottled water.

Most honest, friendly and real pub in Pwllheli. Great staff especially the little bald man with a slight speech impediment. His mate Jonathan came in to say hello and stayed a while and he was the coolest guy ever! If you're lucky you can meet him too. Great drinks and good juke box, homely feel and fantastic welcome always. Hope we get to meet Jonathan again soon.

This is my second favourite pub in Pwllheli after the Pen Lan. I go there often. Its where my parents first met. My dad was drunk and holding himself up on a post right next to where the jukebox is now.

We love Y Castell, the best pub in Pwllheli for drinks! The drinks are cheap. Jukebox available, often music events and even a karaoke. Reviewed Y Castell as a 5 as we do love the place, however it always stinks of bleach, and the toilets smell of damp and could do with a good scrub, but this does not stop us from coming there as we know its not The Hilton.

What a fantastic pub. Friendly and helpful staff with genuinely caring management. Always a pleasure visiting -which unfortunately isn't often enough. Always offers on, which makes you feel like your getting a bargain at an already more than reasonably priced bar. Great little hostel above the pub as well as a thriving live music venue in the pub. This pub has supported and promoted homegrown talent as well as booking up and coming bands from around the UK. Everything from rock and thrash bands to acoustic solo artists and duets. Something for everyone - all due to the hard work of a passionate and hard working management and bar staff who try to give they're punters what they want. Not only this but a chance to support local youths that otherwise would not be given a chance- and would then probably be looked at as a liability in our streets had they not been shown such support by Y Castell. This place is a meeting point, a safe haven and seen as a 2nd home to many people - this can not be said very often about a pub these days!!! This place has obviously captured the hearts of many a local including myself and visitors alike. Countless strangers have left as friends after they're stay in Y Castell. Pete and Orla are a credit to Pwllheli for all the hard work and effort they put into running a successful businesses and are a great example to others who aspire to do the same. This is not a chain pub, this pub has not been bought in order to serve overpriced small plates of food with ridiculously priced beer, this pub is for the customers! All this and friendly door staff to ensure a trouble free and fun experience. Always a great experience visiting Y Castell. Keep up the good work Pete, Orla and staff - thank you!

My friend and I called here for a couple of drinks whilst visiting the area. It was quiet and the girl behind the bar served us some excellent ice cold Guinness which we enjoyed very much. We didn't eat here but the food that we saw looked pretty good.

I live nearby Pwllheli and have found myself stuck in Pwllheli a few times with no way of getting home and the Castell has always offered me a place to stay. It is good value for money, the owners are very hospitable and very helpfull. I have always enjoyed my stay at the castle. I would highly recomend it to anyone who visits Pwllheli. The bar area has great atmosphere and the staff are always friendly!

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth

Lovely little dog friendly cafe in the heart of the village. Warm welcome by the host and his friendly staff. Typical Welsh weather and unfortunately the biffolding doors were closed in July however will visit again when the sun is out Diolch
