Wu Chinese Cuisine in Hackney

IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD I have come back with the food and was telling the lady the food was very overcooked and if you cook sweet and sour chicken the chicken becomes like straw and hard to chew. She starts shouting and saying that it’s not over cooked. I explained that didn’t not want a refund I just wanted a replacement and she proceeded to keep going back and forth saying that I’m wrong put her finger in the sweet and sour to try and pull it apart which it was obvious that the food was over done but she denies it and says it Hong Kong style. She kept asking what do I want, despite me saying multiple time bag I wanted a replacement for the sauce as the rice was fine hen she realised what I said, She decides to swear f*** me and huff and puff when it is not necessary. SHE WILL SWEAR AT YOU AND WILL NOT LISTEN TO YOU!!!!!! Apparently restaurants can’t make mistakes according to the lady. Sometimes you just want to get food on your way home and get home and put ya feet up after a long day in the office. Not go back to the restaurant and they argue with you especially when you go in there regularly. FAIR TO SAY I WON’T BE GOING BACK THERE

really bad! duck was cold and fried to a crisp. Noodles had a funny smell i suspect it was the oil and was completely burnt, it smelt of fire . spent a lot of money, would never order again.

Banana fritters not nice, banana inside spoiled, black. Sweet and sour chicken balls, can’t find meat. Rice with pork and duck, same thing, lots of rice and couple slices of meat. Pork taste horrible.

The prawn toast and calamari didn’t seem fresh unfortunately. The gravy in the rice was very strong with black pepper. Also I understand Cantonese duck to come dry and it came in gravy. The meal was overall nice.

ordered chow main and shrimp rice. Meat was off, smelled very bad 👎. rice too dry . contacted them over email and life chats, didn't get my refund. Very disappointed, will never order from them again

Chinese food cooked and fried in old chip shop oil is not what I was hoping for, but it’s what I got worst Chinese I have ever had

Very upset, my meat spring rolls were burnt and very oily , I’ve never had a problem before but, the food was not up to standard, very disapointing

The won ton soup was good along with the special fried rice but the singapore fried noodles was really bad, it was the same noodle type that was used for the others but it had powder taste to it and was disgusting. The worse part was the pork in honey sauce it was more like battered pork in sweet pineapple sauce nothing like what was said on the menu and plus it was very sickly. The barbecued pork was ok as well but feel like alot of the things in this was either ok or just flat out really bad. don't think i would order from this place again

Fast Delivery, tasty food BUT ordered Beef Curry, not sure what sort of meat it was but it had never seen a cow, the curry itself and all the other food was good though

The rice didn't taste right at all today and smelt funny the salt n pepper chicken wasn't salty or spicy and just felt like it was batter as there was barely any chicken in there not great at all the ribs were ok but felt like bones as a lot of them didn't really have meat on them either

Definitely going to order from here again best service and the food was really nice and hot

The delivery driver came after 9 the realised they gave him the wrong order he called them and they told him to come back but I never got my food till 10.40 I even called wu twice before I got my food,was not happy and when it came it was cold and the spring rolls was soggy

The food was nice and tasty, especially the chinese in salt and chilli! The only downside is that the rice was too soft and clumpy. Think they put in too much water when making boiled rice!

I had beef with black bean sauce and egg fried rice with spring rolls it was hot and delicious and I've still got some left over!!!

It was a large order, so did not mind the delay. Food came fresh and hot.

The food came quickly and it was nice and hot when it came and I definitely recommend this Chinese.

I ordered fried lamb and mushrooms, I got rice with some bits in it! (There was no lamb, and no mushroom) I ordered beef noodles and vegetables noodles, both were bland. Curry sauce was nice. I paid £37 for this meal, I wouldn't pay £5 for it if I had a choice. Really really disappointed.

Legit, some of the best Chinese take-away I’ve ever had.

Food was disgusting.. Will definitely never order from here again. Way to much oil on everything. I ordered plain noodles that weren't plain at all, the curry sauce was way to thick and needed water and cooking down. Total waste of £40

The Staff were very friendly and welcoming, they explained how everything worked and what the dishes they served. Food was amazing! Will be going again soon

These reviews are horrible !! What on earth am I reading . The most delicious food and broth , mini octopus , a variety of tofu, crab meat , pork , lamb , enoki , veggies . Wow wow wow . The broth amazing !! I really recommend mixing the tomato broth with the spicy broth , it’s *chefs kiss*. Variety of sauces !! Like you can make your own sauce , they had chopped garlic , crushed peanuts , coriander , peanut sauce and a bunch more!! I mixed the chopped garlic with soy sauce and coriander. The staff are so welcoming !! So kind , they ask you politely what you need and they leave you to eat. They help you if you’re confused just so lovely! I know how to use chop sticks but not very well and they complimented me !! I was self conscious too! You can’t ask for a better service ! A small cosy warm feeling place ! I honeStly do not understand how these reviews are slightly unfair. We can be too harsh and critical on our hospitality workers Please do not listen and try the place out! Do you have basic table manners ? Are you kind ? Do you clean up after yourself ? If yes, then you will be alright!

Ordered crispy lamb pancakes, but that definitely wasn’t lamb, Chicken chilli and salt had no chilli , The food here of late has been of low standard, won’t be using this place anymore

Quite possibly the worst chinese experience. Food was bland with no flavour. Ordered dim sum didnt even get any dipping sauce.

Egg fried rice was nice but the sweet and sour chicken lacked flavour.

All the food was burnt, the chicken balls were greasy with tons of oil. Absolutely disgusting and horrendous meal. The service is terrible here on a weekend because they are so busy! So it’s not cooked to a quality standard. Highly advise not to use this restaurant on a Friday or Saturday evening. Horrible

First of all they delivered the wrong meal,then they sent a guy to pick that up and then we had to wait ages for our original meal

This was so bad I had to go to the supermarket the next day and buy ingredients to add into it to give it flavour. Just tasted watery.

The fried rice and chicken balls were good, however the deep fried chicken with salt and chilli were definitely below usual standard. Instead of the spring onions and sliced chillies there was just chilli flakes and the chicken was dry and overcooked. Disappointed with the dish which was delivered.

I don’t know if the chef has changed within the last 6/9 months as the food has changed over time and it doesn’t taste as nice anymore. I don’t know if it’s my pregnancy taste buds but for a while I won’t be ordering again.

If I wanted a mushroom curry I would of ordered one, I ordered a house curry, I got 2 pieces of chicken, 1 piece of beef and a life time supply of mushrooms, it was also stone cold, shocking service for the prices you charge.

Chicken balls with sweet sauce too greasy. Special fried rice and chicken noodles tastless

I normally have Singapore rice but tonight I found it very very greasy oily it should be dry so I was very disappointed

Portion size was great! Chicken balls were nice and spring rolls were abit to big and filled with more vegetables than meat but tasted average when cut in half. I recommend Singapore noodles and chicken balls with extra sauce.

I was a disappointed this time as the chilli shredded beef was hard and very chewy this was the first time as I have ordered this dish several times from this restaurant before and it was perfect don't know what happened this time

The food was delicious and authentic as desired! The restaurant contacted me as I asked for 2 sauces that weren't on the menu and they’d said they have them, which I was thrilled! The food at Wu Chinese used to be absolutely delicious but unfortunately their standards have decreased dramatically and now it's very bland, dry and tasteless. This is extremely disappointing and means I won't be ordering again as Hackney Gardens is a much better choice if you fancy a local Chinese takeaway.

Food wasn’t good. Noodles were hard , not much flavour and chicken was salty. Chips dry and hard. Must say not usually like this .

The oil that fried the pancake rolls wasn't fresh

Tried the salt and pepper spare ribs and aromatic crispy lamb for the first time, both were tender and flavourful. The singapore vermicelli noodles had plenty of meat and vegetables. All of the food arrived hot. Overall, I was really happy with this delicious meal.

Only because the weather waited a hour for food but was worth the wait.

The food was not to my satisfaction the prawn crackers were out of date. The chicken curry was very watery

The past few times I’ve ordered now, I’m really dissatisfied with the quality of food. Salt n pepper prawns have been over cooked and no flavour same as salt n pepper chicken. The special fried rice also tasted old and re heated. I don’t know if they’ve changed the chef but it’s just not the same as it used to be. Please take these comments on board . Next time I order, if it’s not good I WILL send it back. From a regular customer.

Great food, great service worth the money

The food was delivered about 10 minutes early. It was delicious and hot.

Food was great as always, this has to be one of the best Chinese in London, also got a free dish as a regular customer, the staff and delivery are great really nice people

Delivery was extremely late with no update on arrival time provided. Food was soggy. Still an ok temperature though. I would say it’s an average Chinese. The sweet and sour chicken was the best dish. Do not order the salt and pepper prawns, soggy and cardboard like. Chicken chow mien quite dry. Rice also dry. Singapore rice is 10x spicer than other places I’ve tried, wasn’t nice. Spring rolls were terrible, they came in a chicken and chip box, soggy, red stained and completely fallen apart as they stuck to the box. Expensive and not worth it unfortunately.

Amazing food, as always! We have ordered from this restaurant for over 10 years and the food never fails to disappoint. Amazing Chinese feast last night! Food was fresh, still piping hot and the portions were generous. So yummy! I will never order from a different Chinese restaurant for as long as I’m in Hackney!!

Food was ok nothing special about it. Was fresh nice but like I said nothing special. Orders duck slices more like pieces and lot of fat .so really disappointed with that .thought plum sauce taste like plum but it never so bit confused with that maybe it’s meant to be like that not had before . Chicken balls were good tho..
