Ordered fish and chips, fish was fine, chips ok, the fishcake I ordered for my child was fridge cold in the middle and overdone on the outside so I wasn’t confident serving it to him. Saveloy for my father was also cold. Really gone down hill.

My partner and I were shopping in Manchester and feeling a bit peckish when we stumbled across this chippy, we both needed to eat after a lot of retail therapy and boy am I glad we found this chippy! Firstly the premises were modern and clean, secondly the staff were welcoming and friendly and most of all the Fish and Chips were simply delicious. In my opinion the best Fish and Chips in Manchester. When ever I visit Manchester I will defo be going back to this great chippy, I couldn't recommend it more.

It is so convenient. Me and my mum would go and get this at 5:00 as a snack before dinner and it would always be so delicious.

It is what it says on the tin… Fish & Chips. The food is tasty enough and the place has some lovely and charming ladies to sort your order.

I think it sums up how popular this chip shop is, by the queues, not only during the day but in the evening too. The whole place looks spotlessly clean and the staff get through the queues quickly whilst remembering everyones orders which always amazes me. The chips are delicious, better than any of the other chip shops in Ware. Always piping hot and the chips are always big proper chips, not full of the small crispy ones which I do not like. They are cooked to perfection and the cod is a good size too. They also have a buy one get one free on a Tuesday for cod and chips which is amazing value. The staff are lovely and engage with the customers.

We have been going for a long while the last 3 weeks the fish has been awful ...so much grease and old oil I ordered a medium haddock and got a small

Me and the family made use of the Tuesday special deals. 2 medium cod and chips for the price of 1. The chips were delicious and the fish flakey and fresh. Also on another note my partner said that the curry sauce was the best she’d had and I have to agree. 4 empty plates and satisfied bellies. Strongly recommend Wrights. Best in town

Food was dry, over priced and wasn’t what I ordered how on earth this place is still open i do not know.

We came baxk after Covid quarantine to find a queue a mile long. The owner was cooking, fish was scalding hot and in the large and small portion, generously weighed and fried to perfection, the quality of the fish is again the best creamy taste. The chips are back to being savoury, meaty and delicious crispy taste, not too oily or soft and soapy as last time. So glad to see this shop fight off the threat of closure, improve back to it's original quality. I just hope the owner takes his time to train all staff how to cook everything as well as he does, crispy, hot and delicious. The deal on Tuesdays of 2 for 1 is a great money saver and well worth a meal :) They are very adaptable and even though they ran out of medium cod, they compromised and sold 1 large cod with the entire delicious tail and 1 small cod which were huge portions.

Bought 5 lots of small cod and chips just over £40 second time now in a few weeks we have visited and second time the batter has been soggy and chips cold. Not as good as it used to be

I used to love Wrights, but after this evenings disaster I realise I’ve only been going recently out of a sense of loyalty. Fish inside the batter was dried out and I was actually doubting that it was cod. Batter was overly crispy/cooked up. Chips were like cardboard. Will have to find another shop, it’s just not the same quality since it’s been taken over. To be fair the staff are cheerful and friendly.

One star cos I have too. This is buy far the worst chip shop I’ve eaten in ages. Wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Everything just taste like grease.

No the chips taste like boiled potatoes and soapy soft. Seems like the kids who work there don't know how to cook crispy chips. Last few years this chippy was excellent. But the fish are cut to thirds now instead of Half's and they say things like 'large middle' for a block of fish brick shaped that tastes like cardboard. The fish and chips have really gone down in quality for the last eight months. Disappointing but I won't be back. Can't stand the taste any more.

I lived across the road from here for years. I used it occasionally and - to be fair - always played devil’s advocate. I asked for mushy peas, knowing full well that they didn’t sell them. But the response that ‘we don’t sell them, we’re a *proper* fish and chip shop’ did and still does make me laugh. Seemingly nothing has changed. Next they’ll no doubt stop selling fish yet still have a rod up their proverbial. A reasonable chippy with airs above their station.

Good fish and chips with really crispy batter usually have a good selection of fish to choose from also will do savaloys if wanted

I like Wrights it's clean, the fish is always fresh and I like that they have the information on where the fish is from and they also have the same for the potatoes

Great fish & chips information about the catch & the boat that caught it & even where the potatoes came from. Not cheap but absolutely delicious hot & fresh.

This establishment serves quality white fish fare. The batter is crispy and hot and the fish melts in your mouth. Very generous portions.

Drive from Bishops Stortford to have fish and chips. Sit in the car to eat when fresh Would recommend a trip here.

We had a group of Chinese visitors who wanted to experience the British fish & chips tradition and so off we went for 9 lots of cod & chips. We opted for the medium size and the fish was huge, super-tasty with crunchy batter. They came with generous portions of chips to die for. This is a friendly, small but efficient chippy and, despite being on a permanent diet nowadays, this place makes a weight small gain worth it! Great value for money at around £6 per person.

We visit Devon every year and eat at a fish and chip shop in Beer. The fish and chips are excellent but you would expect that in a fishing village. Honestly, Wright’s is every bit as good and very reasonably priced. Don’t go anywhere else.

I tried a number of fish and chips places throughout Hertfordshire and I must say this is one of the best. Their fish always tastes great, fresh, the portions are reasonably large (i.e. "large" really means large), the hygiene is always impeccable. Pity is such a cramped, small place where a queue of over 4 people needs to extend into the alley outside, but of course, the space limitation is nothing they can do about...

Having moved to Ware 2 years ago I have been to Wright’s most Fridays the food is always a good standard

We have tried Wright’s on various occasions over the last 15 years. Each time we have been disappointed. Heavy Batter, flavourless pappy chips. On one occasion we almost returned our order. Sorry but won’t be back.

I have been using this fish and chip shop for almost 50 years. Others come and go, but this shop (still in the same family for all those years) remains streets ahead of all the others. Unfortunately large cod and chips is no longer half a crown but the price still compares very favourably to all the other takeaways in the town.

We often have takeaway from here and whatever we have is delicious. The place is also spotless which must be difficult to maintain with all they oil!

Visited Wrights at lunch for fish and chips have being recommended! We weren't disappointed. Everything very fresh. Don't have mushy peas though. Shop staff very friendly.

We are moving from the area very soon and will miss our take outs from Wrights. However the good news is that where we are going there is also a very very excellent chippy, which I have previously listed.

Pescado recién preparado y local las patatas. Delicioso pescado, pasta y patatas fritas. Escondido de la calle principal, difícil de encontrar si no son de Ware. Cola constante de personas en espera de la comida, que muestra lo bueno que es. No estoy seguro si el personal son conscientes, pero que parecen tener conversaciones sobre los clientes y el personal, otro personal de pago, que podemos escuchar al otro lado del mostrador! Sólo añade al encanto de este pequeño rincón de una tienda. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Visitará cada vez que venga a Ware.

Have been coming here for many years always fantastic, Cod really tasty and always fresh. Chips nice and not greasy. Chicken Chunks always a favourite with the kids and freshly cooked. Staff very friendly and helpful, well worth the money

This place is perfect for some fish and chips, it's not without its issues though, some of which being the fact it's small, so the queue is always long and the vegetarian selection is nill, but for fish and chip taste, you can't beat it!

We took a detour to Ware after getting a recommendation from friends about Wrights famous fish and chips and weren't disappointed. The service was very speedy despite the queue being out the door when we arrived and best of all was the bag of scraps! A proper fish and chip shop experience.I also liked the signs tracing the origins of the (line caught) fishes and potatoes back to the boats/area and farms.

We had our family round for fish and chips tea, food was excellent nice white fish and the chips were hot. Just what we wanted, we shall be back for more.

Fish and Chips is generally regarded as the typical English take away meal. And here is Ware there is simply one of the best Fish and Chip shops that you will find. There is always a queue, which goes quickly; and this usually means your choice will have been cooked recently. Prices are reasonable.So go there, get your F&C's and get ready for a treat.Highly recommended.

Me and hubby were going out so we thought we would have fish and chips to take home and then go out for the evening . We have always bought our fish and chips from here and never anywhere else . We always enjoyed our fish suppers from here and always said it was the best in Ware . The young girl took our order and said it would be a couple of moments , I watched the young boy put the chips on to fry and was amazed by how quickly he took the chips out of the fryer , but didn't think no more till I got them home, to my disappointment they were not cooked and were cold , it's such a shame as we have never had bad food from Wrights. The cod was not the best, batter was greasy, I'm hoping that this is just a blip and you will be back to top fish and chip shop in ware . The big chap wasn't working this night and maybe this was the reason things weren't at they're usual best.

Wrights have been in Ware for years and it's no surprise why. Lovely flakes of white fish and freshly cooked chips. Reasonably priced and quick service. Obviously there other fish and chip takeaways but this is still our favourite

Friday night treat, cycled to wrights ordered freshly cooked haddock and chips, well worth the wait, popped in a wally and onion. Peddalled like mad to get home then laid our feast out on the garden table no knifes and forks just fingers and chip paper. Haddock thick, fleshy and succulent, crispy batter and tasty chips. Now thats a friday night......

We usually use this fish and chip shop about once a month because it is good but the fish purchase last time was almost uneatable,it was so over cooked, The piece of medium haddock was only about 5mm thick covered in over cooked batter which made it look larger than it was The fish also so over cooked it was chewy to eat . Be warned even the best reputation shop can get it very wrong

It is only a fish and chip shop, but . . . the food is always freshly cooked in a clean and well run tiny shop. There is always a queue out of the door, mostly because you can only fit three people inside! Fish and chips as it should be.

The best fish and chip shop I've been in in Hertfordshire. You can tell their fish is fresh and there always long queues on weekend evenings, for good reason.

So my granddad had 5 fish n chips shops, 4 restaurants and 3 sandwich shops across the uk and he said this was the best fish and chip shop in the South east of the UK. but dont expect to get anything there but fish & chips ( perhaps a pie) they dont do anything else

This is the best fish and chip shop for miles - the fish is listed on the board and really helps anybody make a sustainable choice which is really good. This shop is clean and the food is cooked fresh.

The fish is always good with not too much batter.The only downside is sometimes the large queues which is always a good sign they are busy & so food is always fresh.

I'm from Lancashire and we as a rule don't have fish with our chips. Wrights do pies and mushy peas ....an excellent Chippy and when I'm in Ware I always try to pay a visit.

Fresh fish and chips which will not be surpassed in the area. Friendly staff and a wide selection of fish. Always something different to try and is well worth the wait. Always busy and queues frequent which is always a good sign. There are decent fish and chip shops in the area but they cannot touch the freshness of Wrights. Superb

We have used Wrights for 27 years now!! Always fresh. Often there are up to 15 or so people in line outside waiting to be served at busy times. Generous portions and quality sourced fish and potatoes.

Wright's may be a small chippy in a walkway tucked away behind Ware's high street but when you see a queue out of the door you know that it must be something special.Nicely priced, fish with flavour and good chips, it receives two thumbs up. It may have some competition from The Sea Tree nearby but the reputation of Wright's will certainly carry it forward. I'll return.

Hello Just got some chips in Wrights, only chips - as i dont eat fish...the chips "Stank of fish"..and tasted of fish,called Wrights and was told as the shop is small the oil all drains together in 1 tank...so anything from the fryer will be soacked in fish oil...Veggies Chip Lovers and fish allergies stear clear !

Wrights is a ware institution. Always busy, always a long queue, but always worth the wait. Not much more I can ever expect from a chippy really....

Plain simple honest fish and chips like it used to be when I was a kid. Nice batter, lovely chips and happy friendly staff. A real winner despite lots of competition, always go back here for the best.

Went to wrights for a takeaway for the first time 3 cod and chips (1 large) and 2 sausage and chips pickled onion gherkin and batter bits £26. Great value and the best fish I've had locally nearly as good as Cornish fish and chips.

Its now't special to look at, a small mid terrace takeway of the traditional 'Alf Tupper -fish supper' type establishment - it only does basic fish and chip take-way in paper wrappings. But its always really great quality, hot out of the fryer and there's always a queue out of the door.

I have been to several different fish & chip shops in the Ware & Hertford area & to me, this is by far the best.The food is always hot & fresh, and the batter is light & crispy.The queue is often out of the door at busy times, partly because it is such a small shop, but it must also be partly due to the popularity of the place because the food is always so good.

the over all food isnt bad there are better in the area though.the thing that gets me is they state opening and closing times and constantly close up to half hour earlier than it sais on the door.had many a wasted trip to find closed early. very unprofesional .

had cod and chips here when I visit ware.. each time I have had great food, smiles and not a bad priceonly downside is the q spills out onto the stret as tiny shop.... but its well worth the q and the wait......

I don't visit here frequently, but when I do, the standard of food is always constantly good. Be prepared for a queue as it's invariably busy, but always worth the wait. The only down side is there is no seating to eat in and it's a very small shop, so you often end up queuing outside. So don't be put off just wrap up.
