Great atmosphere and good selection of ales

We stopped in for a quick Saturday lunch a few weeks back, Food was good, a nice range of ales and friendly staff

Not a great experience. Very expensive for what you get. Staff not very accommodating. Wouldn’t take our Photo, and when paying at the end, because we were paying for our own meals, the offer of “2 fish n chips for £22”, the lady wanted to charge me £17.50 ‘because I was only paying for one’! She was obviously tired and was desperate to go home! Will not be returning. We will be better off going to Weatherspoons!

We gave it another go... but it just doesn't compare to the other local pubs. Beer is extortionate!

Food was average quality and expensive for the quality. Service was sub par with us being ignored the majority of the time and having to flag down the staff just get menus for deserts and then ignored again for ordering them. Also took us getting up and putting coats on just to get the bill.

Amazing welcome, really good food, good selection of real ales, dog friendly. We were able to park the motorhome there overnight too. Would definitely go back again.

It's a contemporary but cosy, large pub. We stopped for food on a Sunday night. The roast is obviously popular because they had run out but we really enjoyed our fish burger and fish and chips. The triple cooked chips were really good. Very nice staff. The ladies loos could do with a deep clean which obviously hadn't happened for some time, with thick dust on the back of the loo door, and dirt in the corners. Hopefully attention to detail in the kitchen cleaning is better.

Visited for Sunday lunch and we all throughly enjoyed our food. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Extremely pleased to see they serve proper pies (surrounded by pastry), really enjoy the steak and ale pie. Roasts looked great too and there was a good selection of puddings.

Service was attentive and very friendly food was nice although my veggies were a tiny bit cold but the flavour and overall presentation were excellent a good quick stop off when everything nearby was fully booked. Oh and the beer was delicious, well kept

We were not informed that there would be at least a 45 minute wait for our food. We had to ask twice for an update on service, we eventually requested that the food be brought to table all together. When it arrived the Camembert was baked to a crusty mush, the steak was Charcoal black and dry, it was hard to find any fish in the fish pie, all of the food was overcooked and tasteless. Service was poor. We were not asked if our food was OK. When we paid the bill and complained at the poor quality of the food the waitress was completely uninterested and in fact seemed annoyed! We would not recommend this place and will definitely not return...ever.

Really nice pub, friendly staff. The building is really nice, old and has lots of items and pictures relating to its long heritage. Has a good sized car park, a giant log fire and outside seating. Food is good, normal pub grub and my partner and myself go quite often if we need something quick. They are also often open when others in the area are not.

Came in for Sunday snacks and drinks…team were lovely! The pub is looking amazing all Christmas decorated ! Will definitely be retuning 😁😁

IF YOU HAVE AN INTOLERANCE DON'T COME HERE! used to be one of my favourite local pubs but never again. No GF amendments, half answers on whether a dish includes gluten and say they can't tell you for sure. Won't be flexible with menu amendments to help you find an option of something you want to eat, all I asked for was a GF bread option and was told no. Then suggested changing bread for salad and was advised I couldn't do this either. Very disappointing for a very common allergy.

Many thanks to Mel, Steven and the rest of the team at the Worlds End. We had a wake for my dad for approx. 90 people and honestly they did brilliantly supporting us on the difficult day, with plenty of space and good atmosphere considering the event. Food and drink both good and did their best to support people with allergies as much as possible.

What a lovely place… free parking. The staff were just great. Not overly friendly ( in an American way) but just perfect… food was presented very well ,Sunday roast beef. And was very delightful.

Came by this place on the way down to the South West, so glad we stopped of for lunch. Despite being so large lots on inglenook spaces and staff were magnificent, let's just say our four legged companion got lots of fuss. Given it was a Tuesday lunch they were doing a good trade which is always a good sign. We enjoyed our steak ciabatta and halloumi wrap, very tasty for £12ish. Super gem of a place and will now make this our go to stop for the West Country, just a little detour of the M5.

Great Sunday roast took the dogs and managed to get the small function room to ourselves enjoyed it . Service was excellent.

My family and I LOVE the world’s end. We can’t stay away. Nip in for a cheeky pint after the food shop. Celebrating a bday, go for drinks or a meal. The team are great, the service is always perfect. The service was great. Parties were all seated with enough space between us so that it's not uncomfortable to talk. I had the house favourite duck, and my husband had the steak. The duck was lovely. However, the steak sirloin was chargrilled, which we weren't a huge fan of. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely be coming back with our dog as its a dog friendly place 😊

Wow what a beautiful pub/restaurant, we went for Sunday lunch yesterday and the food was amazing, every single member of staff that we came into contact with were smiley, happy and so so nice, felt they genuinely wanted to help. I went with my family for a special occasion which included our 2 autistic children, deliberately arrived early to make it as stress free as possible but my youngest child who is non-verbal was really struggling with the new environment and screaming alot! The staff and in particular, Steven sat down beside me and was just so supportive and kind, i was almost in tears! Normally I would have given up and gone home but the communication and lovely service from the staff really made a huge difference this day so we stayed, my son calmed down when the food arrived and we all had a lovely meal (which believe me is rare). Other staff (female manager i think, engaged with my eldest son which made his day and our waitress whose name i've forgotton (sorry)! Was super lovely too. Quick, efficient, professional and delicious food/serive from start to finish, we ended up staying for over 2 hours. We will 100% be back and will recommend this place, we live on the outskirts of Exeter but it's worth driving the extra miles for this place. Thank you so much you have no idea what having a day like yesterday meant to me and my partner.

Outstanding Pub/Restaurant. We use The Worlds End, as a Motorhome stopover, which was perfect and eat in the restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were fantastic, super friendly and helpful, we could not recommend this place highly enough.

I am the grandpa of the birthday girl we came as a very large party last night from the very start it appeared a hostile reception as if they did not want us there throughout the evening our service was appalling however we decided to stay my eldest daughter had already booked the birthday party seating. We were told there was no arrangements previously made this turned out to be a fabrication of the truth To me as an individual I was appalled by the service the atmosphere of the staff and the food was of very poor standard but the prices were astronomical I estimated the cost of our food alone to be 280 pounds and the cost of our drinks a further 120 pounds surely a party of this size and spending this amount of money in a pub/restaurant that was empty, we deserve better service as the meals came out at all separate times which meant the first section of food was eaten before the last section appeared All in all, I highly recommend any perspective customers go elsewhere to spend their money and have a welcome Warranted reception Mr Garland

Awful experience at the world’s end this evening. Booked back along for my daughters 5th birthday due to the fact we were a big group with lots of children and the park is good. Rang to confirm booking today and was told no record of booking. Asked if it was still ok to come in a large group and was told yes. Upon arrival, was greeted with a staff member who had an awful attitude toward us. The whole group got the impression from the start we were not welcome, however as the children were happy playing we stayed. During our visit, we continued to receive bad attitude from staff members, and also were lied to by the manager and even overheard staff talking badly of us. Yes we were louder than your average table, however the children were well behaved and we were enjoying a family celebration. As a group we spent a lot of money and did not deserve the treatment we received. We regularly visit this pub, but never again. I will be spreading the word of the disgraceful experience we had. If I could rate this place as a zero, I would!!!!!!!

Booked a table 3 to 4 weeks ago .. phoned up to confirm the table on the day said they had no record of the booking … turned up and they sat us outside as requested.. asked for an inside table to told there were no inside tables due to being fully booked even though the whole place was empty and no reserved signs on any tables.. managed to “make”‘us a table in the corner .. one staff member only on shift who was reluctant to serve the bar as was busy setting up our table … asked a passer by if they worked the bar replied “no I don’t work here” then seen him behind the bar serving who turned out to be the “boss”… THEN other people turned up for a table (bearing in mind they are fully booked) over heard the staff say ( no we’re not full but there is a table of people In here and we like to keep the other people Away .. THEN the young waitress was being unhelpful with the whole “I’ve been told to put this here” and very rude! Over all a very rude and bad vibe given the fact that we were the largest group In there on the night and the “boss”’was no where to be seen! AVOID!

It’s was my friends birthday and I dropped off a cake and they were very nice and when it was time to serve the cake they brought it out and sung happy birthday for us and they and they called in our kids from the playground. Lovely food and brilliant customer service five out of 5 stars.

We walked into the Worlds end pub last Sunday afternoon at 14.30. A nice buzz from the tables dotted with families, etc. There is a nice atmosphere here, very welcoming, comphy. I was with my daughter and her partner today after visiting one of the close by apiaries of South Street Honey. Kati wanted the chicken pie. It comes with a bit of mash and some cabbage, peas, and bacon. The pie was ok Kati said. It looked full of filling. A bit long in the microwave she said. Mash was not very buttery, and the cabbage mix had a lot of rooty bits in it, and again over microwaved. She ate it though. More gravy next time as well. Sarah had the double cheese burger. She said it was alright. She liked the chips. Cheese was nice in the burger the the meat patties she said were nothing special. I have the vegan burger. Chips were nice like Sarah's. The pickles were good (I asked for cows milk cheese which was swapped for the plant cheese) Why don't chefs toast the burger bun? Sarah's weren't toasted either. It stops the sauce seeping into the bun and adds another texture. Drinks were as expected. Pudding were offered but at the average £8.50 each we opted out. Our bill was £72 for 3 drinks and 3 main courses. It's a bit on the pricey side for average pub grub. If the niggles were sorted and a bit more attention to detail, this would be a great place to eat.

We had a family lunch there, eight of us and we were treated very well.

Spent the weekend camping just down the road from The World's End. We noticed the pub straight away and thought oh we will defo give this a go for some drinks. We booked short notice (3 kids, 4 adults and 4 dogs) and had a wonderful meal. The burgers are "nom nom nom" really tasty not dry and just yummy, all 4 adults enjoyed them. The kids meals great portions and affordable. We were made to feel really welcome and the dogs were spoilt. Lots of treats and water available. We then went back for a pint on the Sunday, as we all agreed the meal was so good the night before we decided to have lunch there, again short notice, lovely plated roasts and delicious puddings. Overall just a wonderful pub with wonderful staff. Highly recommend.

The food was above average but not exceptional - I had mussels which were a little over-cooked, although my husband liked his blanchbait starter - but the setting and staff were really lovely. The decor is gorgeous and the staff (in particular the man who seemed to be the manager) were really friendly and welcoming. So we wouldn’t jump up and down about the food but if you want pretty standard pub food but a really nice experience generally we’d recommend this place.

Great place for food and ale. Reasonable prices, lovely and spacious, inside and out, relaxed and even welcomes doggies inside. A bit low on staff, but those that were available were helpful and polite. Food really is very good. Oh, and massive carpark 👍

Called in on the off chance for a evening meal service was good but food was average but with London prices and to finish it off they don't take cash to be honest I would avoid unless you take out a mortgage before you go also must say I asked for a plain steak as a treat for the dog but the staff went in melt down and they can not cost for it puppets controlled by head office and a 10% surcharge added to the bill put our bill to nearly £300

Extremely slow service Allergy policy ridiculous And prices were expensive for what was on offer We were going to stay for puddings but having arrived at 6;30 and not finishing mains until gone 9:30 we didn’t bother to stay ESPECIALLY as the seats were plain wood Would have given no stars but it wouldn’t allow this

I came here with a group of friends, walking here on holiday. I saw the pub manager pick his nose and then serve some chips. The toilet was clogged clearly for some time. There’s a weird sewage smell throughout the restaurant. I hope they fix all of the above before I come again.

This pub is not wheel accessible friendly. Do not go here. My friend order the steak - it was over done. My beer was off, their own beer is overpriced and flat. The pub manager has a horribly smelling attitude, like he sells cheese.

Delicious meals on a Sunday afternoon, with Sunday roast and a wide selection of other options available. Plenty of space and time to eat, relax and have a game of Uno at our table. This venue was chosen by friends and was about 90 mins away for both of us. Highly recommend it.

We took visiting family to World’s End for dinner. We all enjoyed our food very much. Service was quick. & efficient, and waiting staff were attentive, without being intrusive. We will will happily visit again

A welcoming place which has great food and service. They accommodated 10 of us on a short notice and were extremely helpful. A good range of food and was a pleasant Sunday roast.

We were a walk-in group of 10 on a Sunday and the staff seated us and the service was great. We had roasts and some vegan food which was all yummy.

Went for an evening meal while on holiday, nice enough pub but felt a bit soulless. Food was reasonable, I had steak and my wife had chicken, all was cooked well and there was a decent choice of puddings. The dog was made welcome, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Wow. Amazing and the absolute best service ever! Booked and reserved online (the same day) for lunch. Extreamly easy process. We were instantly impressed by the beautiful building. So well laid out for accessibility. Interestingly, tastefully and warmly decorated, spotlessly clean and bright. We were intrigued. Our party of 6 (plus one dog), were cheerfully greeted by Steve. Clearly an asset and gem! It was obvious from the onset he is passionate about his job, the company, the history of the building, and most importantly.... offering the best service to his customers. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure learning about the building and it's history. Food was served quickly, efficiently and was delicious. Very reasonably priced. On leaving, our old dog was also given a special doggy icecream, which she devoured. Big thank you from us. Fantastic service and enjoyable experience. Well done to Steve and the team. Definitely recommend!!

Very interesting place. I've never seen such a big pub with so many tables. Lovely decorated and nice outside space to sit on the sun. We just stopped by for a drink after landing on Bristol airport and on the way to Bournemouth.

Had to change our Campervan parking plans at the last minute, and The World's End were super helpful. Overnight parking as long as you buy a drink and/or food. Quiet park up, excellent friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. We shared the vegetarian meze platter and it was all good for us. We also got a bonus quiz which was good fun too.

This pub is beautiful and the staff are lovely however the food is really really just below average for the price. I had the mussels which were supposed to be in a white wine and garlic sauce but it was just basically a bowl of salty water only nice thing were the fries. The pie was tiny and veggie burger was so dry. Didnt complain because I hate to do so but honestly the food is not worth the money. It’s a shame because I really had high hopes from other reviews.

Met up with our Niece for a meal following an anonymous recommendation, well we came up trumps here, great food, fabulous location, excellent server 'Jess' looked after us.

Last minute booking for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by three very welcoming members of staff. Drinks and food orders taken quite quickly as we all knew what we wanted, however we weren’t rushed at all. Food came in good time and was excellent. We didn’t have dessert. All in all a good experience and we will be back.

Called in in the office chance of getting a Sunday lunch. Was shown to a table and ordered our drinks and a veggie roast and a beef roast. The staff were very good and attentive. Our dinners were good, lots of vegetables and a couple of slices of beef. It could have done with being a bit hotter so we asked for extra hot gravy rather have it taken away and reheted. We did feel although that for a two course dinner and non alcoholic drinks the bill of £70+ was a little steep. But apart from that it was all good.

Will not be returning. Overpriced less than ordinary food which took a long time to arrive on a quiet evening. When it did arrive it was not even hot!

Sadly my wife and I will not be returning to this establishment… after we ate there last evening… Everything was ok with this place apart from the food…My wife had a Chicken meal we’re upon she found everything was swimming in oil! My meal was a steak pie. The pie was so over baked I had to stab my knife into the rock hard pastry to get to the filling! I called over the waitress that served us, she was very apologetic and embarrassed, she spoke to the manager and I was offered a free drink, which I declined. I said I will not be making a fuss for I didn’t want to embarrass my wife. I had to drown the pie with the gravy to soften the crust to mate it edible. Will not be returning. MY REPLY TO YOUR MISLEADING INFORMATION FROM YOUR STAFF ON DUTY AT THE TIME OF OUR EXPERIENCE….Please read carefully: Thank you for your response. But I am afraid that the waitress who dealt with our complaint only offered me a free drink as my wife and friends will confirm. There was NO mention of a free meal. A replacement meal would have been more acceptable but then I would have had to wait for it to be cooked and the party I was with would have finished their meal which wouldn’t have been ideal. Please also note that when we arrived the duty manager was very attentive and ensured we had drinks and took our meal choices ensuring we saw the list of ingredients in the meals so we could check for allergies. However, when I complained he didn’t come over and speak to us he sent the waitress and as we paid and left he just sat at a table and said goodbye. As the manager I would have expected an apology from him.

Had a lovely meal this evening. Food was very good. However, I do really object to being automatically charged an extra 10 per cent on top of the bill for a service charge . The staff member did say I could refuse to pay it and she would take it off but I did feel a degree of embarrassment and pressure not to, which I really object to. This made the meal for 3 people over £160. Do not cheap and will definitely deter a future visit .

Friendly greeting. Immediately welcomed and asked what we'd like for drinks. Also asked if we had any allergies. Very good. Menus given and an update on their 'specials' availability given. Food arrangements and portions lovely, tasted totally delicious. Asked during meal of our food was ok? Another drink requested and promptly given. We then had puddings. Bliss! Delicious food, wonderful experience. Warm and friendly atmosphere.

The friendly team gives you a warm welcome upon your arrival. The restaurant is clean and not too noisy despite being fairly full. The steak and tangle foot pie is sublime and perfectly sized. The winter creme brulee is quite a heavy dessert but pleasant and enjoyable. Superb coffee.

Visited for a wake, lovely pub with great food, drink and staff.

Roast beef was very tasty, place very busy as it was mother's day but still had really good service and wasn't made to feel rushed.

Visited last week on Tues lunch time. As soon as you walk through the door there's a sign saying dog friendly, before seating us they asked if our dog got on with other dogs, so thoughtful of them. There was only 2 front of house covering food and bar but they seemed to cope, were very welcoming and friendly. Food was good and they had both Outland IPA's. We will be back.

We last came here about 8 years ago as we felt the food had gone downhill. We pass it on a daily basis. This evening we decided to go in for dinner, and how impressed we were! The food was excellent, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the pub had a lovely vibe. We will absolutely be back!

Lovely get together with family, we had a nice big table and lots of space. Very dog friendly pub, good choice of food (although would have been nice to see lamb on the roast list for Easter Sunday). Some of the table who had beef said it was a little tough but my pork was delicious, as was the veg and the crispy large yorky pud! Potatoes were a bit overcooked. The pud (lemon tart with berries and small strips of mint) was DIVINE!! Has a nice play area section and easy to find outside of town. Lots of interesting cricket paraphernalia and some authentic decor - loved the windows! Nice toilets too.

A lovely evening with great food. All the staff are very friendly, and the fact it’s dog friendly made our stay even better.

The meal was very tasty and of a good size. It was the venison bourguignon. Quite a bit of gravy was there too. Needed a spoon. Staff were polite, informed and attentive. Nothing was too much for them. The atmosphere was jolly and happy. Wide range of customers in.

We had an early evening meal and the pub was nicely busy. I had a fish pie and my husband had the meat and ale pie. Both were perfect in size and served with a good selection of vegetables. Both pies were delicious. We also treated ourselves to a pudding each - again excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We would certainly go back if we visit that part of Somerset again.
