Good sized Sunday Roasts, well cooked and presented. Service staff were pleasant and accommodating .Rest of the menu a little uninspiring. The battered fish was a little greasy rather than crispy and a bit bland. Overall OK and would go back for the roasts.

Lovely restaurant with a pretty garden at the rear. Great menu choice & the food was above and beyond it was delicious hence returning for another meal !! The service was fantastic and very attentive. Definitely recommend, Godshill is such a quaint beautiful village.

Visited from Surrey, fantastic food and service, pies are amazing!

First visit here to use a Christmas gift voucher. Very impressed that we could choose anything we wanted from the main menu. No restrictions on price of item. The service was brilliant, the staff were really friendly and helpful. Now we come to the food! It was presented beautifully and delicious. The portions were really good too. Will definately be visiting again once they have relocated and open in july/August.

Went here tonight as we had a booking elsewhere which called and cancelled as we were on route... We were glad they cancelled after going here. I had the crispy beef and the pork belly which were both amazing and the pork belly is by far one of the best I've had in a long time. Staff were really friendly and accomidating and venue was simply lovely.

The food was excellent and the staff, very polite and friendly. We had a wonderfully, relaxing evening.

Collected a marvellously prepared Christmas lunch for six people just before the day. It had easy to follow instructions & included a gluten free meal for one & 2 bottles of Prosecco. Made the day much more enjoyable for us all. Thank you Woods, you surpassed my expectations.

Pie night is really good value, and the slow cooked beef pie was delicious. We took, our two dogs, who were made very welcome by the staff. Very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be going again.

Went for Sunday lunch. Lovely place and lovely people did not have some of the wines in stock and those we had were poor. Roast beef was stringy and nearly impossible to chew - should have sent it back and asked for pork instead of leaving it.

Can't comment on the food as we only had a drink, but if the staff are anything to go by it will be Excellent. Friendliest group of people we think we've ever come across, particularly when we wanted to take our dogs and tortoise through to their garden, nothing too much trouble. Lovely!

It was our first time at woods this year .we went in for a cream tea ,the scones were amazing .Enjoyed them so much we booked in for Sunday lunch ,I can honestly say it was the best Sunday lunch I've ever had it was gorgeous. The staff are a credit to woods ,they were so warm and friendly .definitely be back next year .xxx ps looking forward to woods at home .

Afternoon tea was excellent, everything was so fresh and well presented, we had the Mary Poppins themed version which was very clever 👌👌👌.

So good we had to come twice. Excellent menu and pleasant, polite staff. Highly recommend the Lamb flatbread from the specials. Very good live music from a talented musician (guitar) - nicely providing background music 👌

Really lovely dining experience this evening at Woods Kitchen. We had a lovely starter and mains (pork belly and the ribs) and the atmosphere was great. The service was good and the staff were very attentive. Great place to go!

Had the Vegan roast and Vegan coconut curry. Both were delicious. Really helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Only complaint was that we were too full to manage a pudding!

We had the most incredible tipsy afternoon tea, apparently new to the menu we were the first to order it. I can not rate this experience high enough. The staff are amazingly attentive. The setting and decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and very tasteful. We would return to the island even if it was just to do this again. Edit- have been back again for Sunday dinner, and have been looking forward to it ever since we first visited. By far the best pork belly ever.

Booked last minute and accommodated for 13 of us, great staff and service, food was great, recommend the ribs (amazing). Very helpful and friendly.

On holiday and booked this restaurant.From the moment we entered to the time we left everything was excellent.The staff, general atmosphere and most importantly the food all superb.On the evening we visited there was live music which made our night complete.Totally recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Our cottage owners where we were staying at Byre Cottage Mandy and David recommended Woods Kitchen. They had left a lovely hamper in our cottage for us upon arrival from Woods Kitchen which included scones, jams, and fresh foccoci bread/ half an artisan loaf.Managed to book in for a Friday night at 6pm. Lovely welcome from the team and we were seated towards the rear of the venue facing the garden and huge double patio doors. Lovely ambience...fairly lights and new vintage decor.My Dad and I are coeliac and there was a fantastic selection of meals that could be adapted. Our girls aged 7 and 9 made friends with the table next to us. Our dog was welcomed and he was a good boy under our table.Food ....huge portions & quality food. Good value for money. My husband had the ribs and was given 3 huge racks. I had the vegan curry. Am not vegan but fancied the butternut quash and aubergine curry. I was given a good thick slice of GF bread and rice accompanying it. Didnt need the new potatoes in it too. I would have made up with added chicken in there!! Mum had the halloumi burger and the kids burgers too. Fantastic thick fresh and hot chips. My Dad had the chicken. We both were able to have a pudding. Apple Crumble. Very yummy. Well worth the money spent. £110 for 6 of us. 4 adults and two children. My husband had the knicker blocker glory....I would say this was the only thing that was a little disappointing....because it was basically a can of fruit cocktail upended in his sundae dish with two scoops of icecream and a tonne of swirly cream. Our girls wanted the brownie but it was all gone so they were substituted with a cupcake from their front of house chilled cabinet which wasn't a bad thing! It was just abit cold rather than room temp.Thank you for having us. We really enjoyed our meal on our last night. We enjoyed the hamper left for us in our cottage. Godshill is a beautiful village.

5 people in my party for Sunday lunch. We all had roasts except 1, and the meat was melt in the mouth delicious. Huge Yorkshire pudding crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. Finished with Eton mess which did not dissapoint either. We all agreed the lunch was tasty and amazing. Well done Woods Kitchen. Next time I’m over the Island I will be sure to be back.

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First meal out in a pub since Christmas Eve. The food as usual was amazing. The staff were efficient and friendly. We sat outside to start off the evening and had cocktails and felt like we were on holiday abroad ( even though we live in the village). Could not fault the food. Mussels were tasty as ever, we all had starters and mains and everything arrived hot and in good time. Thank you for a lovely evening. Can’t wait to come and have one of your delicious roast dinners soon. Again thanks to the friendly smiling staff they are a credit to your restaurant!!!

Not so good this time the beef in my pie was a bit tough and i had to wait 20mins for my coffee and my friend didnt even get hers there didnt seem to be anyone in charge the waiting staff were very young be a while before we go back so hopefully the staff will improve with time

We came as a group.of 8 women friends and sat at two tables. It was a Saturday pre Christmas lunch outing and the atmosphere was buzzing and decor beautiful. The food was delicious and plentiful, lots of variety, staff friendly and service excellent. Lovely cocktails and the added value of a little christmassy shop on the way out. Will def come again.

Had Christmas Dinner with my friends and it was fantastic. Would highly recommend going as I would go again and again. Staff wonderful food out of this world price not too bad either. Great little shop at front selling Christmas stuff at a reasonable price

A place that we love to return to time after time, lovely theme afternoon teas that never disappoint! Cocktails, tea, sandwiches and lots of sweet treats. Its a must!

What a great venue..really well presented and decorated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive with a great sense of humour. The food, quality and portion sizes are very generous, well presented and tasty. Warning - don't have a starter if your going for the Pie option... portions are huge, you'll never make it...go for a pudding..if you dare! We went on a Friday evening and there was live piano background music too. This is a great place and we will be regular visitors - Thank you for a really enjoyable evening Woods Kitchen 👏👏👏😎

We ate here for lunch in Oct halve term. Had not booked but they found us a table . Service was excellent start to finish . Drinks brought quickly we only had a light lunch of home made soup bread and toastie excellent value and very tasty .We saw other food being brought out Andropov very good toad in hole . Would for sure go back here definitely worth a look if in Godshill

One of the best meals I have had we will return after lockdown

During this lockdown period we thought that we would try their takeaway service and had an amazing meal which was just as good as if we were eating in the restaurant. The vegetarian pie was delightful with vegetables that were cooked perfectly while my fish and chips was amazing. Service has always been top notch in the restaurant and this continued for the take away service.We heartedly recommend that you try it

Lockdown back on, so we decided to use the new App for Woods Kitchen takeaway. Worked like a dream! 3 meals - Chicken/Ham/Leek Pie with chips, Pulled pork burger with loaded fries, and Battered fish and chips. Big portions, condiments, napkins provided in recycle boxes/bag. The app is really easy to navigate and pay through. Highly recommended!

After visiting godshill a number of times, I've never been into the woods kitchen. I was very impressed with the decor. Such a lovely vibe here. Cocktails were the best I've had in a long time. Staff friendly and quick orders. Can't wait to bring my friends here for drinks

After a visit to Godshill model village today, we stopped for an unscheduled lunch at Woods. The whole experience was lovely, from the lovely venue / atmosphere to the very friendly and helpful staff and a very delicious meal we would highly recommend a visit to Woods

Fantastic food great service great atmosphere

Visited Woods for a Saturday evening meal and weren’t disappointed. Smashing restaurant - layout was perfect and delicious food - we tried Butternut/goats cheese risotto, fish and chips and a bespoke cheeseboard for me. Table service was excellent and the team went out of their way to cater for specific requests. If it wasn’t for a rowdy table of lads who weren’t asked to tone it down I would give a 5* but understand business is business in these difficult times. Will certainly return to Woods next time I visit.

Amazing place, friendly staff, great food, one of the best places to eat on the island

We booked here on a Saturday night as we were visiting the island for a long weekend. Beautifully decorated restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and helpful staff. The food was delicious and the menu and specials meant there was plenty to choose from. Reasonable prices too considering the portions and the use of local produce. We will definitely visit again next time we are over there!

For a local restaurant this was lovely. Service friendly and we were given a great table for my hubby’s birthday. Our starters of mackerel pate and mushrooms on toast were so tasty and the mains were huge and great value for money (far better than the pub directly opposite). Wonderful pork belly with fabulous crackling. I think the mashed potato, potato purée and creamed potato are all the same but who cares as it’s tasty. Everyone there works hard but serves with a smile. Thank you for our lovely evening.

Great menu, wonderfully cooked and presented, and fairly priced. We enjoyed Risotto and Garlic Mushroom starters, followed by Steak and Ale and Tuscan Chicken mains. Portion sizes are generous and the sauces amazing. A limited wine list is also reasonably priced. Tom and Emily were fabulous hosts in an exceptionally tasteful environment that had been modified to ensure Covid safety: the screens between tables are very cleverly designed. Well done Woods!

We ate at Woods twice whilst in the Isle of Wight on holiday last week. First was Sunday lunch which was the very best Sunday lunch I had ever had in a restaurant. I am very fussy about a Sunday roast outside of the home but this was exceptional. Choice of four meats and whatever you chose came with all the trimmings for all of the meats! Crackling and Yorkshire’s were particular highlights, Based on our experience we booked to eat on the Thursday evening and again had an excellent meal. I had a superb Caesar salad, full of anchovies, just the way it should be. I had fries to go with it which were also delicious. My husband had the burger which was clearly handmade and cooked to perfection. We had a side of onion rings to share and, no surprises, they were excellent too. We both had desserts, knickerbocker glory and a raspberry sundae which finished the meal beautifully. The social distancing is excellent, the cleanliness superb with tables and chairs being sanitised between use and single use menus on each table. We felt safe, extremely well looked after by the staff and very satisfied by the whole experience. Lovely ambience as well with fairy lights entwined around driftwood branches. A little gem. We will return.

My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much at Woods, and the vegan curry is to die for! Quality food, fantastic service by happy attentive staff, and definately one to visit should we return to the Island! Keep up the great work Woods.

Food was top notch. I had the slow cooked belly of pork with crackling, potatoes, apple sauce, gravy and broccoli. Could of eaten it twice over, it was that good. Fiancee had the southern platter, it was huge. Mum had the hunters chicken, and dad had the pasta a big bowl. Couldn't fault any of it.

I would strongly recommend this restaurant. First class service,lovely friendly staff.food was very good.

We visited Godshill and were looking for some where to have lunch, we came across the appealing Woods kitchen and asked if they had a table as we had not booked. The very obliging young man said we could sit outside and as the weather was good we grabbed a table in the outside patio area. We had an excellent lunch, a ploughmans and a camembert platter followed by a Knickerblocker Glory. Excellent friendly service and excellent food.Would recommend and would very much like to visit again when back on the Island.

Went on Pie night.. Absolutely fantastic pies. I had lamb and my partner had the beef. Best pub plus we've ever had.... Roll on next year for a return 😊

We had a delicious dinner at Woods - best moules marriner for a long time! But what made it stand out was staff that was just great and went out of their way to make us and out two year old feel welcome and looked after. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

We just had a lovely family birthday meal at Woods Kitchen. Kids meals are really high quality and include a dessert 👍 Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, even the coffee! Loved the interior decoration, especially all the fairy lights and most importantly, all the staff were super friendly, attentive and had a sense of humour! Wish we'd tried it sooner, we'll be back!

Wow what a treat this was, amazing Sunday lunch, brilliant staff. The menu looked excellent and we would have returned except it didn’t open again until the Thursday on the day we left. Hopefully we’ll get back one day.

We've visited Wood's Kitchen several times in the past and on our most recent visit on a busy Saturday night can say that Tom and the staff were friendly, welcoming and the service was equally good, despite the numbers...all four of us enjoyed our meals and will definitely repeat our visit soon.

No negatives to report on here.Had a lovely table towards the rear of the restaurant with high vaulted ceiling and views of the garden.Excellent food and similar standard service from a gentleman that took such interest in our requirements he may well have been the owner.Nothing too much trouble and made sure even unlisted cocktails were knocked up in a jiffy!Will definitely book again next time we are on the island.

As a family we came here for dinner and it was excellent. The quality of food was the best we have had during our 1 week holiday on the island. All 3 of us had really tasty food, service was good. Highly recommended and will return.

This was our first visit to Woods Kitchen. It was very busy especially as we were all taking advantage of the Eat Out campaign. But the tables were well spaced and the staff energetically trying to cope. The menu had a good selection and four of us had different meals, all delicious, well cooked and fresh. Really will make a return visit.

Large choice of evening meal here. Were warned that it may take a while as it is freshly cooked, but wait was not unacceptable. Staff doing a grand job under difficult circumstances. Rishis meal deal and demanding customers, but they coped politely and well. Food was very good and well presented. Will definitely eat here again soon.

Friendly staff here. Brought a bowl of water for our dog without being asked. Nice soup of the day (parsnip) and chicken and bacon in cream sauce was very nice. The burger was a bit underdone for our taste but no issues having it cooked a little longer. I'd go here again for sure.

We visited Woods for my birthday in August. The restaurant is set up social distanced and the back doors were fully open so lots of fresh air coming through the restaurant.The mussels were fabulous you get a kilo and that’s plenty! Food portions all good sizes.The staff were all very friendly and attentive.Drinks not over priced.Would highly recommend and when back on the island will be visiting again.Thanks Woods.

Personal, enthusiastic, and attentive service - even for customers with awkward dietary requirements! Accommodating my Vegan and Gluten Free diet was no trouble. There is also a quirky/fun collection of witty signs, Isle of Wight Gin, and cheeses (incl. A select few vegan ones!) in a small shop area, which was a nice touch!

Had an impression of old school dated pub grub but apparently all changed 2 years ago. It’s now great. Lovely staff and superb food, had the mushrooms to start and then mussels. Excellent . Sides of fries at £4 a bit of a laugh but otherwise great all round . Lots of stuff on the menu that looked great . Well done

On a beautiful summer's day, took our pre-booked table in the garden on this lovely restaurant. Uptake was 100% owing to government Covid restrictions and the two waiting staff had their hands full keeping up, which they did with great humour. There was a slight delay because of the above, but the food was absolutely perfect - local seafood. Will I go back. Definitely.

We were staying at a nice AIRBNB in Ryde. We were visiting Godshill miniature village and stopped here for lunch.We decided to use their garden area in order to promote social distancing.We had drinks, a sharing platter and other snaky things. Food - Very good. Service – Friendly efficient staff. Cost – OK.Social distance – No evidence of track n trace in operation (lost a star for that)

Popped in for a cream tea without booking, staff couldn't have been more accommodating and found us seats in the lovely garden terrace and brought water for my dog. We had the cream tea but unfortunately the scones were the worst I've ever tasted. Very hard on the outside and almost expanded in my mouth like eating a dry weetabox. Unfortunately being truly British when asked by the lovely staff member how it was I could only mutter 'lovely thanks'. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, maybe the scones had been left out on what was a very hot day, but j wouldn't have the cream tea there again

We decided to have a girls afternoon out for my Great Grand Daughters birthday she was seven When we got to Woods she was made to feel very special there was unicorns and glitter on the table she was delighted we all then enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea with scones to die for Thank you Teri and staff for making a little girl very happy x

We had eaten here previously when this was the Essex and was keen to try it again and wasn’t disappointed. Food and service was spot on. Staff very friendly and attentive. Starters between the 4 of us we tried mozzarella sticks, risotto balls and fish cakes all presented well and tasty. Mains where Tuscan pasta, mussels from specials and Cajun board from specials again these didn’t disappoint. Really recommend a visit. Shame we’ve got no days left to visit again.

We have used this restaurant in the past and been very happy but I have to say that we are very disappointed that we have tried for over six days to get through on the phone (always cuts to answerphone saying they are closed), also left a message but no one rang back. We fully understand that with the current Covid-19 situation things are different so we popped down to see if it was open (yes) but was met with a little rudeness. Unlikely therefore to go back.

Just a stone's throw from the Model Village and so lovely to eat outside. Very attractive place - welcoming staff. Great for lunch. Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic in every aspect! Great Staff, superb food and I feel the price for the what we have eaten today the portions, taste & presentation are absolutely on point! We are only here for a week but will be returning ASAP.This review is based on the Beef, chicken and lamb roast £13.50 & Children’s cheese platter which came with dessert for £6.

I purchased this on the Price is Wight for £28.99 including delivery for my birthday. When it arrived I was extremely disappointed the quality did not match to the pictures on the price is Wight or their website. The scones were the best part they were lovely, the rolls were Ok but a bit dry, the cakes were extremely poor and looked very unappetising. When we opened the vacuum packed pack the smell was not pleasant, they had included strawberries which had made some of the cakes soggy. The afternoon tea was for two people only there was only one eclair and one sponge cake. There were 2 marshmallows and chocolate had been included to make it look like there was more there. The content certainly did not match anywhere to the pictures online. As someone who has afternoon tea on a monthly basis This was very poor in comparison and for the money. When I contacted the owner she was a bit aggressive with her response stating that what I had received was the same as the photo. . They stated that I had not opened it and yet were disappointed already, I have included the photo of what was advertised and what I actually received there is no comparison. Very disappointed came here a lot for afternoon tea with the previous owners and was expecting the same standard.
