Called to get book for my grandson and few gifts and of course the much needed coffee. The shop is always immaculate as should be. Husband got boots at reduced cost. Pleasure to visit this centre, lovely staff.

This is an average garden centre coffee shop. Never had a meal here so can't comment on that, but the biscuits, buns and cakes are always the same, never any variety. Think if I went on a more regular basis I would be totally fed up with lack of choice. Time they added a bit more variety and wider range of gluten free goodies.

The Garden centre is pleasant and the decor and atmosphere are very pleasant. We had to wait for quite a while to get in, as there had been a water leak of some sot, but, even then, things were pretty slow. The staff seemed pretty disinterested. The sandwich was decent enough but pretty much what I would have made for myself at home, so not as impressive as the menu and the decor suggested it might be.

Went in here just ahead of lunch. They seated me, I told them Id have a drink and then order some lunch in a while. This seemed fine. A little bit later when I tried to order some soup from a passing waitress, I was brusquely informed that there was a queue. I was apologetic- given the times we all have to live in, I thought they would be operating some sort of system- even if it wasn't evident right away what that was. So i waited about ten minutes. In that time i noticed other people were also waiting in my section. We all sat and watched as more people drifted in and they were seated and had their orders taken. I had some things to do on my lap top. So i started those and waited another 10 minutes. No one came near either me or the people around me. It became apparent that this corner of the restaurant was being entirely and deliberately ignored- it was pretty obvious. After a while- I realised i would have to go to my appointment. So - no lunch for me and I still had to pay for my drink. No explanation, no apology for slow service- they just weren't interested! Insult to injury, the waitress who seated me and had given me the brush off- came over to the till when I was paying- presumably to hear if i said anything about her (which I didnt). If anyone in management there is interested- she had died auburn red hair, whichshe had tied up- and an entirely distinerested/self interested attitude. I resent the £2 and change I paid for a can of fizzy drink and such was my frustration that I thought about walking out and letting them challenge me. This is my seventh TA review in five years. I usually don't bother unless its for a very good or a very bad experience. This is the worst- it actually made me angry! I wouldnt bother with Maple- there are plenty of places who are coping with Covid19 without having to treat people like this. Give them your money!

After waiting 17 minutes for someone to take our order, we only wanted coffee and scones, we walked out. This place has no idea of what service means and clearly doesn't have any sort of system in place to cope with the the "new normal". We didn't know table booking was in operation or that the restaurant only had table service, but were seated pretty promptly after providing a name and contact details. All good so far. Tables were well spaced and we could see food and drink being delivered as well as tables being cleaned after patrons had left. What we couldn't see was any sort of system to take customer orders. This seemed to be the last thing they were worried about and was haphazard to say the least. Observing the comings and goings, I don't believe resources were being used efficiently and the overall process left a lot to be desired. For example, we couldn't understand why only table service was being offered when with the proper safeguards the counter could've been used to take orders and provide a faster service for those (like ourselves) not wanting a full meal. Surely, this would speed up the customer throughput? The final straw for us was when a work acquaintance, also in the restaurant and who had put in her order, spotted that we were being ignored and brought it to the attention of one of the staff, who fetched her notebook and proceeded to take an order from a table of two people who had just been seated! We'll not be back and we certainly wouldn't recommend Woodlawn.

Enjoyed a scone and coffee here a few months ago. Today, although the coffee was good the scone was ghastly . It was supposed to be a cherry scone but it only contained one cherry and that was on the outside ‘crust’. The scone itself was over large and tasted like a scone mix as if too much baking powder or soda had been used. Extremely disappointing.

We arrived at 2:45pm hoping to get a bite of lunch. The only things on offer were desserts, toasted sandwiches or some sad looking dried out scones. We asked if there was any lasagne left. The server said that “it finished at 2:30!” Did you get that? The lasagne even has a quitting time. There was no offer to go and see if there was any left in the kitchen. So I ask, why bother? Why bother when I can go to Binkys and get what I want even when they’ve stopped serving breakfast or lunch or whatever?

We both had what was described as Chinese Chicken Curry with chips and rice. It was basically a stew of chicken, lots of peas, beans, peppers and thick gravy with no hint of curry whatsoever! Neither of us enjoyed it. I went back to the counter just to clarify that it was supposed to be curry. I was told yes. I replied that it didn’t taste like curry. I got no response! The lack of interest got my back up so when I went back to my table, I asked a young girl clearing tables if I could speak to the manager. She was very polite and came back to tell me that the manager was busy but would be over when she was finished what she was doing. The manager took her time which initially showed a lack of interest! When she came over, I politely explained that it did not taste of curry and was awful and a waste of money. She could clearly see that we had both eaten very little. She said that it was normally very good and was a mild curry! Personally, curry needs to have curry powder in it and there didn’t seem to be any in this! She did not seem very happy with the fact that I complained and did not apologise! She offered us a cup of coffee to which I said, I don’t drink coffee. She then offered us a traybake to take away which I accepted as some compensation for £18 wasted! When I went to the counter to get the tray bakes, there was still no apology and she still appeared not very happy! I thanked her (as I have manners) and said that I thought she would rather know about something not being up to standard than not. No response! Needless to say, I won’t be back!

Went for lunch with my wife and son. Staff were super attentive upon arrival and seated within minutes. Drinks ordered and order placed all within 5-10 minutes of being seated. The wife went for the special which was salted chili bites with skin on skinny fries and side salad, son had sausages and chips and I had bacon, brie and red onion marmalade panini with skinny fries coleslaw and side salad. Picture below. Overall total was around £30 which wasn't too bad for two big plates of lunch and coke zero and child's lunch. Highly would recommend The Secret Garden to anyone looking for a high quality meal in the Dundonald area.
