Do you know 'The Fool and Bladder' ? Well this place has that atmosphere, and the advantage of actually existing! Great beer, great prices, great place - possibly the best pub I've ever been to (and that's a lot of pubs!!!)

Walked here from the Silverdale campsite. Lovely walk, and the pub at the end was a delight. Very dated but staff lovely, drink was very reasonable and great outdoor seating. Bar area not suitable for kids, but they have a lounge area that kids are allowed in if the weather's not great. Dog friendly with multiple water bowls dotted around for thirsty pooches. Thoroughly good watering hole 🫶. Our daughter loved the domino keyrings they had on sale for £1... so we all left happy 😊

A portal to a simpler time where beer was cheaper and bars had proper snacks. The Woodlands, commonly referred to as 'the woodies', is home to friendly bar staff who warmly accommodate all who come to drink there. With stunning views of the village and the bay, 'the woodies' is in an idea location surrounded by the woods looking out over land and deer.

Stopped here with my dear brother-in-law and had a couple of pints super place. Wonderful views sat out the front and they had food wagons serving really really delicious looking food. Wonderful conversation with a guy who done a 25 year shift at Woodlands keeping the place up and running. By the way, I missed out the most important thing they had for guest ales, which were absolutely super beautifully kept real beer.

Mixed review here as I love it but it’s a very old pub experience . I understand other points of view as it isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea yet I would like to point out that this timeless gem is so wrong it’s actually right. In New York they calm these dive bars, in an affectionate way. If this place got new furniture and a lick of paint I think it would actually ruin it. So. To finish. It’s a must go to place. Then you decide. As I said. I love it.

It's a step back in time as you walk through the door, including the price of the refreshments. Its run by a couple and is dog friendly to the extreme. Sometimes half as many pooches as customers. There is seating outside with a wonderful view of Silverdale and surrounding area. Walkers use it and the local caravan parks, so you can usually end up chatting to someone who could have come from as far away as Wigan or Newcastle . Friendly atmosphere. Worth checking out.
