My local , always great food and drink

It's a while since we've been in the Gardens, and felt it had gone down a bit...however we've heard good things again so we went tonight. We have to say the food was delicious, the service excellent and the pub itself is cosy and welcoming. We will be regular visitors again. Highly recommended.

We had the 3 course menu of the day at £18.50 The food was lovely and very well presented. The starters were very filling and the main when it came was too much for us to eat although very enjoyable. We were able to take home what wasn’t eaten and enjoyed later

Went for a couples meal, got sat down quickly even though we were about 20 minutes early. Before we had even been able to sit down the server was over asking us what we would like to drink. As we hadn't been before we didn't know what the options were and asked for a couple minutes to look over the menu. 20 minutes later we had to go up to the bar and order our drinks as our server (young, black haired male) had walked past us multiple times and not stopped to ask us anything. A further 10 minutes later we had to pull him over and ask if we could order food. Starters arrived quickly, and were presented well. I got the mushrooms and my partner got the prawns and both were very tasty. Then our mains came out, they both could've been presented better. I got a rare steak and my partner got the mixed grill. All the meats were cooked really well and were tasty. The chips weren't that good and had to have sauce and we're definitely too thick and were soggy. We then ended up with a different server (Beth) who took our dessert order and those came out promptly. The Eton mess was gorgeous, but could have been presented nicer, and my partners cheesecake was good and presented well. I have knocked the review down a star due mainly to our first server (didn't catch his name) having no customer service skills and being left for almost half an hour without even checking on us before we even order just wasn't right in my eyes plus when we ordered our steaks we asked if they came with a sauce or if it would be an extra charge and he told us that the steaks came with a sauce included, but the bill was up £8 due to us both having a sauce which we would have argued against, but at the end of the meal we had a new server and she was lovely and answered all our questions. Overall- service leaves something to be desired. The food wasn't worth the £95 we paid (minus drinks) and the overall atmosphere was "meh" and we probably wouldn't return for food again.

Fuimos a cenar en pareja, nos sentamos rápido aunque llegamos unos 20 minutos antes. Antes incluso de que hubiéramos podido sentarnos el servidor había terminado de preguntarnos qué nos gustaría beber. Como no habíamos estado antes no sabíamos cuáles eran las opciones y pedimos un par de minutos para revisar el menú. 20 minutos después tuvimos que subir al bar y pedir nuestras bebidas ya que nuestro servidor (hombre joven y de pelo negro) había pasado por delante de nosotros varias veces y no se detuvo a preguntarnos nada. 10 minutos más tarde tuvimos que detenerlo y preguntarle si podíamos pedir comida. Los titulares llegaron rápido, y se presentaron bien. Tengo las setas y mi compañero las gambas y las dos estaban muy sabrosas. Entonces salió nuestra red, ambas podrían haberse presentado mejor. Tengo un filete raro y mi compañero tiene la parrilla mixta. Todas las carnes estaban muy bien cocinadas y estaban sabrosas. Las patatas fritas no eran tan buenas y tenían que tener salsa y definitivamente somos demasiado espesos y estábamos empapados. Luego terminamos con un servidor diferente (Beth) que tomó nuestro pedido de postres y esos salieron rápidamente. El desastre de Eton era precioso, pero podría haber sido presentado mejor, y mis socios tarta de queso era bueno y presentado bien. He derribado la crítica de una estrella debido principalmente a nuestro primer servidor (no cogí su nombre) no tener habilidades de servicio al cliente y estar dejado durante casi media hora sin siquiera comprobar en nosotros antes de que incluso pedimos simplemente no estaba justo en mis ojos, además cuando pedimos nuestros filetes preguntamos si venían con una salsa o si sería un cargo extra y nos dijo que los filetes venían con una salsa incluida, pero la cuenta era de £ 8 debido a que ambos teníamos una salsa que habríamos discutido en contra, pero al final de la comida tuvimos un nuevo servidor y ella era encantador y respondió a todas nuestras preguntas. En general - el servicio deja algo que desear. La comida no valía la pena las £ 95 que pagamos (menos bebidas) y el ambiente en general era "meh" y probablemente no volveríamos por comida de nuevo.

Tuvimos una muy buena comida aquí justo antes de Navidad. Los nachos y la ensalada de pollo estaban muy buenos y sabrosos. Sin duda que volveremos a visitar.

Great spot for a beer and food. Prices are above average. Great beer garden for kids too. Sunday roast is excellent. Could do with refreshing the beer choices every now and again as its a Lees pub.

Extremadamente decepcionado hoy - esperó más de 50 minutos para 2 comidas - uno era una pequeña ensalada de pollo césar. Nos habían dicho que había una espera de 30 minutos debido a una gran reserva en el restaurante, que no nos importó. Las dos veces que fuimos a preguntar cuánto tiempo duraría la comida, nos dijeron la misma respuesta: ‘se está preparando ahora’. Después de 50 minutos y todavía sin comida pedimos un reembolso, que recibimos una disculpa de todo corazón. En el futuro, si no puede facilitar las funciones privadas y los asientos diarios para el almuerzo, no los ofrezca.

Amazing meal, with amazing friends in an amazing pub. Love coming here to catch up with old friends, staff are friendly, atmosphere is great and food is delicious 😋

The food was absolutely delicious, service was great and we sat in the conservatory....1st ones there but soon filled up. A lovely lunch with my friend and reasonable price too.

Excellent experience at this pub today. Accommodating 16 of us with perfection. Everything was served that was ordered, no errors, food was hot, tasty & plentiful. Staff very efficient & friendly. Excellent first visit experience. Highly recommend.

¿Qué pub sirve sándwiches de jamón frío pero no lo cambiará por un sándwich de jamón tostado caliente? a pesar de que los sándwiches tostados están en el menú. Gracias a la camarera realmente inútil y grosera, ahorré alrededor de £ 40 no comprando comida para mi familia. . . así que saludos por eso ! 👍🏼

Solíamos venir aquí bastante a menudo hasta que tuvimos una muy mala experiencia una Navidad. El servicio fue absolutamente el peor de todos. Volvimos hoy (1 de noviembre) y no pudo haber sido un contraste mayor. El servicio era genial, el personal era muy amable y la comida era excelente. Bien hecho a quien esté al mando ahora 👏 Estamos deseando volver pronto y esperemos que más a menudo.

Cooking times 😂 not adhered to.

What pub serves cold ham sandwiches but won't change it to a hot toasted ham sandwich? even though toasted sandwiches are on the menu. Thanks to the really unhelpful , rude waitress - I saved about £40 not buying any food for my family... so cheers for that ! 👍🏼

Great place to have food & drinks with friends

This is a wonderful spot for lunch and a afternoon or evening drink! They have an indoor restaurant and also outdoor catering truck. We chose the outdoor food with a few pints :) we chose the pulled pork bucket which was fantastic and ideal for 2 people to snack. They have other options and also serve burger and pizza. The only fault it the lack of salad for such a large size meal.. besides from this I would highly recommend. There is also parking available

Lovely hidden gem in Failsworth, highly recommend. Prices are abit stepp but it's second to none from bar to garden and the food is great beautiful garden aswell.

Después de una rápida excursión de un día, era hora de un bocado rápido, después de no haber estado en muchos años, opté por llamar en los jardines Woodhouse. Siendo este un pub de la cervecería Lees, sabes lo que estás consiguiendo. Llegamos alrededor de las 3 pm, notamos un velatorio fúnebre también en, genializado por un buen par de personal del bar, pidiendo nuestras bebidas, preguntamos si tenían una mesa disponible para tres, que hicieron bonita habitación con vistas a la cervecería. Echando un vistazo al menú, sabíamos que era una casa administrada, no menú de cadena. Siendo media tarde no me apetecía una gran comida y decidí por la comida de cubo de jardín del pollo sal y pimienta, con papas fritas, col y ensalada, mi esposa tenía el cerdo tirado con queso rallado y una hamburguesa y papas fritas para mi hija, además de tres refrescos. No tuvimos que esperar mucho para que llegaran nuestras comidas, wow comidas tamaño cubo, llenas hasta el borde de patatas fritas, cubiertas con el pollo, salchicha y salsa de chile dulce para mojar, lo mismo para la de cerdo tirado también. . El lugar estaba ocupado para un jueves por la tarde, buena decoración, gran jardín de cerveza y aparcamiento de buen tamaño. . La factura llegó a 49 libras, bastante bien, seguro que lo intentaremos de nuevo. . 👍🍺🍹

We popped in after a quick outing,not having been here in year's. Busy for a Thursday mid afternoon,we asked for a table in the restaurant area,nice decor, overlooking the beer garden. Quick look at the menu,i decided on the salt & pepper garden bucket,filled with fries,chicken, served with coleslaw, salad & sweet chilli dipping sauce. Wife had the same but with pulled pork,a burger and fries for my daughter, plus three soft drinks..£49... Overall it's a great place to dine...

Absolutely faultless… Food was delicious, came out piping hot & exceeded our expectations. Staff were super friendly, they checked in on us regularly making sure everything was okay! We will certainly be back for more! Our new favourite pub!!!

Ate here for the first time today. Absolutely beautiful food, fabulous, friendly and efficient staff and lovely surroundings including a park area for the kids. We will definitely be returning soon and would 100% recommend.

Walked in to the pub and received a smile and a warm welcome. The bar tender handed me a menu. We ordered 2 sandwiches and got a shock at the plentiful serving, all freshly cooked and loads of filling. They wrapped up the baguette for my mother to take home. Lovely pub, lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Thank you. xx

I’ve been here many times and enjoyed everything. However tonight was not up to scratch. Service was poor. My fish was dry and overcooked and the whole dish itself was dry. Needed a sauce or a squeeze of lemon. No one asked if we wanted any more refreshments or a dessert. So we left. Shame as I’ve always enjoyed my time here previous. Hence no tip this time. 😢

Came here for dinner 8 of us in total, all food arrived together and was very good, service was excellent and a good night with good atmosphere.

The only complaint is the wooden bench n tables outside are very uncomfortable

We went on a Friday lunch. The food was really nice. My wife made the best choice with the scampi. She was recommended to upgrade to the salt and pepper chips by the waitress. Really uplifted the dish. Good value and excellent service.

Absolute gem 💎 of a pub to go for a meal for special occasions... All meals came out together hot and lovely, staff were so friendly and made it special. Best dish was mixed Grill WELL RECOMMENDED we will be back for certain

Called to day for lunch l had the soup to start with, it was lukewarm for my main l had the pasta mushrooms and goat's cheese with garlic bread. it was disgusting and the garlic bread tasted like in had been on fire, black in places and tasted like charcoal. When the waitress came to take our plates away, she asked was it not nice l told her what was wrong and why l had left it, she just walk away with the meal and never returned or ask if she could replace it with something else. Even though my husband enjoyed his meal, he had the steak pie. We will not be returning. Poor food and very poor customer service. I wouldn't normally leave a review but the price it cost now to eat out. Very disappointing experience.

Solo dinners are not always welcome in busy restaurant because they take up a full table. Not so at Woodhouse gardens where i was served by the delightful Katie. I had the set menu which was delicious, hot and well presented. Huge portions satisfied my appetite and the girls cannot do enough for you. Theres a lovely beer garden and ample parking in a beauty spot within walking distance of Daisy Nook country park. If you appreciate excellence in food and service get yourself along to WG, but best to book. Its serving three communities of Oldham, Ashton and Droylsden and understandably popular with the locals .

Delicious family lunch, food was excellent, the kids burger might have been the nicest burger I've tasted in years, had a lovely charred finish and taste. Prices were good considering the food quality, finish on the venue and the excellent service. Portion sizes were also generous. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

I'm a vegan, not by choice but for health reasons, and had the worst experience at lunchtime today. I asked for the mushrooms on cabatta starter, without the Stilton. The chef refused to do that. I was offered the onion and mustard soup, I wasn't told if it had cream in the ingredients. I then asked for the nut roast Sunday dinner, and was told there's no nut roast left. I then went for the vegetarian sausages and mash. Was there butter and milk in the mash? The waitress didn't know. The starters took 30 minutes to get to us, we had to ask for them, the waiting staff were young, so I get they didn't have a clue what I was asking. Why was the chef being so awkward about adjusting a meal to fit a dietary issue, and even on a busy Sunday, they could have done that. It definitely wasn't a good visit, yet we used to come and see family a lot, and eat at the Woodhouse gardens. We won't be back, seeing as your establishment does not adhere to informing customers of any allergies, or food intolerance issues.

My nan nearly had a heart attack when she heard that the prices were that high But I don’t mind paying for good food But this was far from. I Orderd A Roast Beef Dinner And a drill couldn’t even cut that beef the mash was lumpier than a rice pudding And The Potatoes Was Defo Micowaved The Beef Was 100% Micowaved and the Yorkshire Pudding was burnt.My Nan Got Some pasta And It Tasted Horffic the only taste you got was garlic We also got some chips and the amount of salt they put on was mind blowing. I got Some Carmal Creatinon Cake And it was Disgusting And It Tasted like mush also it was very small Pourtion the plate was bigger that the pudding And I’ll rather go to Wetherspoons that eat that garbage again

A very wet Wednesday evening birthday celebration 🎂 for the youngest daughter. Great food well presented very tasty. Staff were very friendly. A great place to eat or call in and have a quiet drink. Good selection of beers and Ales. Definitely go again

It was my Dads 80th Birthday and we had booked a family table Aunts/Uncles My Dad n Mum All of them hitting the 80 year old bar or over!!!!! Firstly we were not given table service to take orders for drinks we had to go to the bar ourselves !!!!!! When we got served at the table for Dinner Once we had all ordered , those that had starters waited approximately 45 mins and those wanting Main only 1hr 50 minutes wait !!!!!! We were getting our own drinks from the bar and I found the whole thing so upsetting as my Dad wanted to have a special day But it was far from . It. !!!!!! The food took so long to arrive and the none attention of customer service and not even a check in to see if the food was ok or we could get more drinks !!!! Nothing , the place wasn’t that busy and there was two young looking girls serving , but when it comes to using what we thought would be a memorable day turned out not to be !!!!!! I even had to request for the cake back from the kitchen as a lot of my family members were having to leave due to the inadequacy of the staff and just the laughable way they say off the cuff sorry Well sorry doesn’t cut it in my eyes We didn’t get the opportunity to wish my Dad a Happy birthday , never had the chance to ask a member of staff to take a memorable picture of us all Shameful Really awful experience I want to know what you are going to do about this as we spent a lot of money The fact being the food was lovely But the staff and their lack of experience in the Hospitality and customer service dept Definitely left a nasty taste in our mouths !!!!!

On line booking not registered but found us a table for our special event for 4. FAR too noisy, very unpleasant experience. Saw a group of lads buy a drink of coke each then go into toilet with them to obviously top off with vodka? Staff were obviously overworked and tired. My lasagne was far too salty n sloppy, my mums cheese n onion pie was a childs portion

Often come here when passing through Woodhouses or when good weather to sit outside. Great local restaurant food is always excellent and big portions. Menue is varied and enough to choose from. I'd say top end for pricing however due to quality and size makes up for it and worth the little bit extra. It can get very busy so can effect the level of service sometimes it's absolutely spot on other times very hit and miss. However always come back and will continue doing so.

Went for a family meal, we did book and I'm glad we did as the restaurant got very busy. Service was quick and the food was lovely and tasty. When we finished went sat in the bar area, this was also busy. Highly recommend for food and a place to have a drink, very welcoming.

Although this pub offers a Sunday roast with only lamb or beef that have accommodated our request to serve it with roast chicken instead on multiple occasions, except today. Aware that it was 6.30 on a Sun (and St. Patrick's Day) so the chances of finding availability elsewhere was slim, we decided to stay regardless of their refusal to accommodate our request. ...but, we had to order the roast chicken meal each which came with chips and grilled tomatoes AND two roast beef dinners so that we could have roast chicken, this was at an additional cost of £17 each. Upon our return home our dogs enjoyed the beef we had paid for, but in the time it took to serve the meal they could easily have produced the chicken for the roast dinner, additionally we were happy to pay the same price for the beef, if they were willing to meet our request. I'm astonished that the chef refused this reasonable request from regular customers, and equally astonished that they don't appear to grasp that many people abstaining from red meat is not that unusual today. Their actions earlier today can only be described as cruel and wholly unnecessary, we won't be eating there again.

I tend to avoid this place because I'm not keen on JW Lees beers but went this week and the food has really improved since my last visit. I had the prawns for starter and the Sea Bass for main and they were excellent. If they could add a couple of better beers on tap, it would be an easy 5 stars but not sure that can change

A spontaneous stop for some lunch. Good size car park. Cozy interior and decor. Nice separation of dining and pub areas. Staff were friendly enough. It was a good size portion of food and it was cooked to and served with no complaints.

I originally voted a place in Ancoats near city centre Manchester has having the best burger in Manchester but, having eaten here for the 1st time in years I have to change the crown of having THE BEST BURGERS IN MANCHESTER to Woodhouse Gardens. My wife and I went after picking her up from work. My wife had been a couple of times with friends and she had said we would have to go so I could taste the excellent food on the menu. My wife had the chicken Salt n Pepper burger and I had The American burger, the plate came with 3 onion rings, Coleslaw, Salad, I upgraded to Salt n Pepper chips which I don’t regret and of course a double stacked burgers with bacon, cheese etc. what I do regret is ordering the side order of onion rings which wasn’t needed as there was plenty on the plate. This is the 1st time I have had a burger which was so freshly cooked I had to blow it as it was hot. As I said we went on the spur of the moment and hadn’t booked and we was seated straight away.The staff was amazing and so attentive, atmosphere was great and we would highly recommend it and will definitely be going again 👍 My Last burger review pics has seen some have nearly 30,000 views in 3 months 🤞this post has the same reaction 🙏👍

Terrible. Did I eat it, just about. Did I enjoy it, absolutely not. The service was even worse than the food…. I won’t be returning - a shame as this was once a nice local pub for food and drinks. Oh dear.

The festive meal is out of this world. The best Christmas meal I've had in a long time. Just beautiful. Staff lovely and friendly. A lovely relaxed calm atmosphere.

We booked the table for 3 of us at 5.15, on Sunday. The place didn't look v busy , plenty of serving staff around. Took 15 minutes to get someone's attention, we ordered our food , my son ordered a drink at same time which didn't turn up so he went to the bar to buy his own. After 30 minutes we had to ask where our food was , it didn't take long for the food to appear. My sons ordered burger and chips, which they enjoyed, and my steak pie and hand cut chips was also very good, and v hot. It was difficult to get the attention of the staff, and nobody asked if our food was OK. I would say the delays in service , and indifferent attitude of the staff spoiled our enjoyment of the evening, which was a pity as the food was of good quality, " must do better" would be my advice to the management when clearly other reviews say similar to our experience.

Food and service were really good yesterday

Service extremely slow, Rump steak, so tough couldn't be eaten. When the staff cleared the table, they just took the steak away without comment or asking if there was a problem with the meal.

Lovely food, great service from the poor waitress who was running around all night whilst her colleague was sat down chatting to her friends the entire time.

What a fabulous find the Woodhouse Gardens is, Excellent service, Lovely atmosphere and most importantly Superb food. My daughter is celiac and was 100% happy with the menu given .Can't fault it. Definitely going here again.

Great food but the service was shocking, staff stood around chatting and bickering ignoring customers. Over 20 mins waiting just to order dessert. Over 15 mins waiting to order a drink..I think this place needs to evaluate the staff 😠

Food was initially cold but sent back and got us hot Sunday roast. Had to sit near bar as restaurant bit full. Was nice enough, staff were accommodating. All in all nice evening

Good food and overall reasonable service. Though the management need to give some embers of staff a bit more training. I would certainly visit again as the menu is good and step up from your regular pub grub. Also there is plenty of free parking.

Visited today with my brother and sister in law for lunch and a catch up and we all had two courses both of which were very generous portions, the main reason we didn't have dessert, and all the meal was cooked and presented beautifully. The waitresses were very friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome. Will definitely visit again.

This was my 2nd visit . We were satin the conservatory dining room which is a lovely room with good spacing in-between the tables so you still enjoy some level of privacy from other diners. There's nothing worse than being squashed up to other diners in a packed environment. Always look forward to good home made soup but unfortunately the tomato and spinach wasn't to my taste on this occasion. My husband had the pulled pork bucket meal and my son had the salt and pepper chicken option.both generous portions and went down well. The prices are a little on the high end for a pub but you expect that being in the area it is but I don't have a problem with that if the food is good. Will be visiting again soon and considering it for our annual boxing day meal with the whole family.

Traditional pub food served here,the Fish and Chips possibly the best I've had in the UK,proper cask beers,friendly staff,highly recommended place to eat,or just having a pint or two.They're dog friendly!
