The Cod and Chips in here are off the chart. So fresh, the batter was to die for. We intend to.be back tomorrow to order the same..Great service, Great food, couldn't ask for more.

This, Lovely Fish and Chip Restaurant. Has had an update. To the interior. Looks great and is very comfortable. The standard of service and food. Is still Excellent. Highly recommended 👍

Keen to get some proper fish and chips after a very disappointing experience with an overpriced miniature fish in London Whitechapel, I scanned my environment and took a chance on a slightly off the beaten track, old-fashioned (always good in my books) little Blackpool establishment named (on the outside) ‘Woodhedz.’ After being greeted by a pleasant, smiling young lady I ordered my usual (fish, chips and mushy peas) found a seat (very comfy) and waited a short time before my meal was delivered by another pleasant, smiling member of staff, a helpful Gentleman who quickly brought some much needed ketchup to my table. So far, so good. But what about the food? Large portion of chips, huge crispy cod, fresh, hot, absolutely delicious. OMG. After London, what an absolute treat. Oh, and I paid twice as much in London as I did today. Amazing stuff. I got super lucky. Well done ‘Woodhedz,’ you helped to round off a wonderful day for me (I braved the super scary roller coasters at the Pleasure Beach) and reminded me of just how delicious fish and chips (+ mushy peas) are supposed to be. Thank you. Keep doing what you do. 10/10. (Excellent!!)

Just wanted a quick take away. I was not impressed. The chips were soggy. My battered sausage was not good. Scampi was overdone. All overpriced. Sorry not good. So many other fish and chip shops to choose from. I suggest you review your cooking regime.

Situated near the pleasure beach, the restraunt has just had a refurb, was spotlessly clean and the food was good, Service was prompt and with a smile. 4 of us went and all the meals were tasty, will be visitng again on our next blackpool visit thats for sure

So disappointed. Always came here for years. I wont be going again. Portions are the size if a child's. One portion of chips in a box made for a burger. I was really hungry before I ordered...was still really hungry when I finished! And wow! The poor dehydrated fish must have felt like it had been turned inside out it was that dry! If you have no taste buds this may suit you. I know they've had a well over due upgrade and it seems they're trying to cover the costs...expensive and small portions. It's such a shame. Anyone know of a decent chippy in Blackpool?!

Popped into this place as we just arrived in Blackpool and looked nice from the outside, came in the gent that was working was very welcoming and warm, and he even had a few jokes with us. Was nice to have a chat with the staff. It felt that we were regulars.

We have been coming here for many years now, at September weekend. We had no idea it had all been refitted out, it has remained spotless and food cooked fresh. Though we were looking forward to our usual toasties but is Purley just a chip shop. We still ate and had a lovley sausage supper. Staff always friendly and attentive.

Visited on a very quiet, very windy day and ate in! The big value fish and chip meal was great value, the coffee was delicious.

Woodheads is now Woodhedz and really updated, food is as good as it was, sadly not doing the homemade pies etc, bit awkward to get in with a wheelchair, as no ramp to get in there you can eat outside if not raining

Very nice and clean and the food was fantastic. Cash only and none of the cash machines work nearby so don’t forget. Very hospitable owner and friendly staff. Just off the main strip so not overwhelmed with customers and all food was cooked fresh for us. Fantastic

Slightly new name (Woodhedz), completely updated interior but same fabulous food and friendly welcome. The fish is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. Cooked to perfection!!

This was easily the best Fish and Chips we have had in Blackpool and we were impressed by the recent re-decoration. Was also fair value and the staff were very friendly.

Amazing food and service with a smile as always from Paul we had it to take out some ate in the car and I saved ours til I got back home to bispham it was still hot as Paul double bagged it . Fish chips and peas for me and a burger with chips for my husband . So glad we got chance to go yesterday. I e been going there for 26 years and I’ve never had a bad experience. Well worth a visit if you come to Blackpool .

When in Blackpool this is the only place we will eat! Brilliant service and food is amazing every time! Refurbishment is stunning, great work! Love you have kept little keepsakes from the old cafe! This has been a family favourite for 21 solid years. The food is incredible and not expensive. The service is always friendly and very professional! Top class staff led by a brilliant manager. Just had a lovely revamp too, interior is so fresh and modern....

We stumbled upon this cafe on a very busy evening in Blackpool. Although the cafe itself was quite full, we were served quickly and even though our party had ordered separately, the food arrived together. The food portions were ample but basic and fairly priced...

Went with the kids this evening. Food was tasty and all cooked fresh. Cheeseburgers were particularly nice. Premesis were clean. And just as important, the staff were friendly and efficient. Would reccommend. It is literally just off the main promenade, can't miss it.

This has to be the best chip shop in blackpool everything they make is tasty normally to much to eat its great value for money staff are friendly and the gravy is to die for.

We visited last year and came back this week. The food was just as amazing as we remembered. Not many chip shop where we live serve proper chips like a chippy should. We had sausage, chips , gravy and mushy peas and partner had fish, chips and curry sauce.Cant wait for our next trip to Blackpool so we can eat here again.

Was really amazed to see this at present is only open Sat/Sun but it was worth the year wait and though a poor review last year, this year well what can I say, fantastic full plate of food, fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter, lovely cup of tea, made them smile when I said it was worth the wait, hopefully due to the lights being longer this year due to Covid-19 hopefully they will be open in December and during the week, thank you all x

For years we have used Woodheads when home, but last Thursday night 24th October, we had a disappointing meal, steak pie and gravy, extra gravy with it, with so much salt level in both, it was horrid, mushy peas were not as usual, which was a shame, asked for milk and at first told no but they did serve me some, hopefully this will get better for next year after their winter break, the need for salt cut down is a must please, so sorry to leave a negative as usually it is a positive one

Fantastic place for fish and chips before the illuminations . The waitress was very polite and food was excellent. We’ll be back next year .

Lovely cafe - my name for it the green cafe - near to the pleasure beach. Average prices, and plentyful, Service with a smile. Could be a little tight on space for pushchairs unless you visit at a quiet time. Couldnt fault it - btw lovely jacket spud for me and plenty of cheese

This is a seasonal cafe .It is open February half term then weekends 12-6pm untill Easter .Open every day 3- 6pm ( 12-6 at weekends)till school hols. From the start of school summer hols open full time till end of the illuminations.Hope this clarifies .phone 01253 405541 if unsure .

We were a family group of four who were on a week long holiday to Blackpool. We have visited this restaurant in the past and found that it does a fabulous fish and chip meal. It still does and we had quite a few different meals there as well. The staff were great and everything was hot. Great food. This is located just off of the main promenade.

Any time we visit Blackpool we make a point of going here for Fish & Chips. Recently was no different. It offers good food at a reasonable price, unlike some closer to the town centre which are nowhere near as good. However, over the years the standards have slipped slightly, but overall still very good, and close to the Pleasure Beach if you are looking for something more sustaining than the "food" served in the aforementioned PB.

Called in at Woodheads on 01/11/18 for a super meal while we were in Blackpool for the illuminations. Fish,Chips, Mushy peas,Bread and Butter and a cup of tea all for £ 6.90. Definitely the best in Blackpool. Greeted with a smile the fish was cooked to perfection , no soggy batter here. chips were exceptional and the mush peas were dead mushy.

Excellent fish and chips! We came for tea, 5 of us with 3 kids in tow. All were well catered for. Couldn’t fault it, nice friendly service and quite quick as well. The fish was cooked in a lovely light batter. We shall come again next time we visit Blackpool. Would highly recommend.

We have been visiting Woodheads for a while now and always return when we are in Blackpool! There is a loads of choice on the menu if you are looking for a big meal or just a snack! I have a jacket potato every time I go they are amazing!

Been coming here for the past 4 year with my partner and her family.

My family have been visiting here for years on trips to Blackpool after it was recommended by a hotel owner. Most recent visits were twice this week and it is still a great value place to eat with a good location near enough to the pleasure beach to leave and return. Kids meals are fantastic at just £3 including a drink (of which you can choose slush). Our party also had mini fish n chips (enough to fill an adult and delicious!), pie choices and toasties which came with fresh salad. There are also a selection of ices in the freezer which were good value too. Cuppa was lovely, we will continue to visit for as long as it is there, they also have a take away counter if you don't have time to sit in. Highly recommended.

During a day out at Blackpool pleasure beech we came of site for lunch at woodheads cafe fantastic simple food £25 for to adults and to 12year olds with drinks the staff are very friendly and efficient and delicious food allways go there when in town

I’ve been going to this restaurant for around 15-20 years and I have never had a bad meal yet the food is stunning and so is the service I’ve know the same guy who has been there since I first went in and he always comes over and says hello I guarantee you they are the best In Blackpool

I visited here on Saturday evening while in Blackpool. We always have an annual family trip to see the illuminations, the past couple of times we've ate at Pablo's across the street & regretted it both times! Take a wander down the back street & you'll come across this little gem!

This is very convenient if you are staying at the Travelodge which is on the same side of the road going towards the Pleasure Beach funfair and you don't want to pay their ridiculous prices, then come here for better value. Been here for many years and I always recommend this place. I had the mini fish n chips which was spot on, no peas or bread n butter cos that is extra but for those who can't eat 'big' meals, then the mini fish n chips is just about right. Had the salad as well and the plate was covered with good, fresh stuff which I wolfed down the lot not leaving Mr other half with any! Word of warning..... they do NOT take any credit or debit cards, cash only and that's for the sit down meals and takeaway. There is a cash machine across the road just around the corner going towards the front, right at the side of the new Spar shop that must have opened this year. Another word of warning.... this cash machine charges you £1.50 fee just to take out £10 note which is an absolute rip off but to my knowledge, I don't think there is any other hole in the walls around there so it's either pay the fee or have no cash. Give this place a try. We will be back again next year for our usual.

Had a meal inside of the plate steak pie with mash on the meal Deal the pie was nice all meat with gravey poured over meal included mash and a drink you got a good portion i ordered peas extra but 90P i thought a bit much for the extra when it was included on the Fish n Chip meal deal. went back next night for take away chios paid for a large portion very disapointed there were more crispie bit than chips it was alike a small portion of chips with loads of crispy bits did not enjoy or rate it witch is a shame as the previous evening i had a good meal

We have visited this establishment many many times over the last twenty years, it is family run and is very clean and the family are lovely. The menu is traditional and reasonably priced. It is situated, one street back from the promenade, close to the pleasure beach. It is well supported, and well worth a visit.

Have been coming here every time we visit for years. It is clean, the staff are pleasant, the prices are reasonable and the food isn't bad. Kids menu and slushes to keep the little ones happy and the tea is quite good!

I would just like to say a big thank you to the staff they where so welcoming and friendly and couldnt do enough for you. The couple of weeks that we spent in blackpool we had the majority of our meals their which were amazing and cant wait to go back and would recommend the cafe to anyone.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a message regarding a post from travis what a load off tosh the fryer always looks clean well smart and will help in anyway the staff are most welcoming ive been going in about 25 years I found no fault ever with our meals yes u wait coz its cooked fresh when u order and as to see a staff member great cheese without washing his hands u cant see that as prepared in the back off the shop u go next door muppet

I will start this review by talking about the staff. The first man I was greeted by was working on the fryer, he looked very unhygienic and not the kind of gentleman you would want to be preparing your food! My order was taken by a young man presumably in his late teens, he was not happy to be there at all and spoke to me like I was something he'd just stood in on the street. I was very disappointed by my customer service to say the least. I waited a solid 15 minutes for my food and it was still cold when it came! I watched a member of staff grate some cheese and did not once see him wash his hands although he was very energetic. On the upside the chips were tasty but I can imagine prison inmates feel more comfortable while eating.

Been going here for year's.Recommended by a local taxi driver.Never go anywhere else.When i visit Blackpool.4 or 5 times a year.....

When I visit Blackpool this is one place I regularly visit as the food is literally amazing, the staff are so friendly especially Paul and the food is amazing and is great value for money, would recommend here to anyone as it is literally amazing

We travelled to Blackpool pleasure beach on Saturday 29 th October and finished our day looking for somewhere to eat fish and chips what a find !! There were 11 of us including 3 small children There was an offer for fish chips peas bread and butter and a cup of tea for £6.50 plus the kids ate free!!! The service was excellent and the food was delicious (and we are very choosy with regards to fish and chips as we have a very good Chippie near us in rotherham ) There was plenty of access for a double buggy and high chairs were available We will definitely be returning next year when we make our annual visit to Blackpool

First visited here 30 years ago loved the place been coming back now and then since however won't be returning uninterested staff messy tables to start with and as for the food. I had sausage egg and chips my wife had a fish tea Sausage was lousy the egg was ok but the chips were ridiculous I had about 5 whole chips rest were just broken up pieces of fat with no potato inside the fish was mostly batter with a very small piece of fish inside the tea was cold What used to be a terrific chippy/cafe is now a shadow of its former self very disappointed

I have been coming here for 17 and a half years since I was a baby. The food has been excellent quality throughout the years that we have been coming here. I would and do recommend this place to anyone!! You will not get a better fish and chips anywhere else!! The staff are lovely, friendly and polite. We bring my nana and grandma here all the time as since they tasted it they won't have fish and chips from anywhere else!! If we say we have been here without them they tell us off!!! You need to try this place as you won't find it better from anywhere else!! I promise you that you will never be disappointed with anything from here!!!

My Wife and I and our two children and had the best fish and chips ever tasted, totally out of this world. My Wife had chips and gravy which I also tasted and it was great too.

Good size for price but bacon over done . Large choice of meals only 4 choices for breakfast. Very clean and nice welcoming staff

only reason we went in was that we needed to sit and eat as husband was about to have hypo food very limited in choice but cooked fresh would say go if you don't want a lot of choice on the menu

Good wholesome food, traditional menu, fish and chips excellent, homemade steak pie, made just like Peggys cafe used to do, mushy peas done as they should be, good drinks, plenty on offer, good platefuls, offers for many dishes, one downside, wish they would do their own whole onion rings, though those they do, do are tasty, this really is a great place to eat

Our 4th year running to this little hidden gem. Fab fresh cooked food. Staff friendly and always smiling. Coffee/tea fresh and hot. Very clean and spotless. Well situated near to pleasure beach and south shore.

My Grandma and Grandad go to blackpool for a week on holiday, so we had been on the pier most of the day so my Grandma ( who came for the day with us ) told us about this place. We came and loved it! Except we only got 2 sachets of ketchup when there was 4 of us. Thankyou !

Found this little gem on Friday on our arrival for the weekend in Blackpool. What a fantastic cafe, food is prepared upon request, service is outstanding and all staff are polite and considerate of all customers. A fantastic place just off the prom but well worth a visit. We went for a family day out to Blackpool zoo and on the way home we called to woodheads cafe on Simpson St and we weren't disappointed,my husband had cheese and onion pie chips and peas,my son and myself had fish and chips bread and butter 2mugs of tea and Pepsi all for under £20, the fish was the size of the plate and it was delicious couldn't fault the service and would highly recommend it thank you all for a lovely meal ☺

On a recent trip to Blackpool called in this cafe for breakfast and honestly all I can say is that the food and service was superb Well done

Went there on Sunday night for tea and was not disappointed my husband had a set meal of fish, chips, mushy peas, bread n butter and a brew and I had cheese toastir and salad the price came to £11.70. Meal was good, will come again.

Food was really tasty and portion sizes were plenty. We took advantage of buy 2 big value meals and get a child's meal for free. The child's mean was huge!

Went for breakfast. Bacon was so hard you couldn't actually cut them. Mushrooms were like bullets. Sausages not very nice. When mentioned to the waitress, we just got a dippy look. No apology. Definintely would not recommend.
