Woodford Park - Cheshire Garden Centre in Stockport

We have been here many times, usually for coffee but today for lunch. Recently we have had to queue for quite a long time while there were empty tables available. Today we were ushered in straight away and ordered fairly quickly. Then we had to wait at least half an hour for delivery of our food. I had fish and chips, although if had I been blind, I doubt whether I could have guessed what it was. It consisted of a thin piece of tasteless fish in a very hard batter which was difficult to cut. Chips were ok but again not very flavoursome. I can safely say that it was the worst fish and chip meal I have ever had in 80 years. My wife ordered a chicken tikka salad which she regretted as she found it too hot. She mentioned it to the waitress who kindly offered an alternative which was gratefully accepted. Excuse for long queues before were a lack of staff. This time the delay was delivery of the meal - excuse - lack of staff and it is the holiday season!

My Rotary Club, Bramhall & Woodford held a Caribbean themed evening here, our second evening event at Notcutts. The food was superb and the staff simply lovely. Everyone there went ‘above and beyond’ . The venue is excellent with space and of course great parking. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a lovely garden centre however we had a really bad experience in the cafe yesterday. Myself, my pregnant daughter and her 2 yr old daughter joined the queue to eat in the cafe at 3.15 pm. There were a lot of tables free but just hadn't been cleared. We were sat down at 3.22 and handed menus. The waitress didn't come over again until I called her over to take our order at 3.35. It was at this time she looked at her watch and told us the kitchens were closed so they were only serving cake. This left us no option but to leave as we are trying not to eat sugar. My granddaughter was so upset as she was very hungry and my daughter wasnt feeling great, as she was late to eat her lunch. I spoke to the manager and all I got was a sorry. So ideas so this doesn't happen again. Maybe put a sign at where you queue saying we stop serving food at 3.30 pm even if you have been sat down before 3.30 and handed a menu. This would at least make people aware of whether they want to wait in the queue. Fairly simple I would think. Won't be eating here again unfortunately.

We have enjoyed lunches at Woodford Park Garden Centre a number of times recently. The food is delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. The centre offers a wide range of shopping and the garden staff offer knowledgeable advice helping us in our endeavours to improve the outdoor space at home.

I visited here as met up with a friend as not see for sometime. I could believe how big it is comparing to Nutcotts Staines Middx as this is my local garden centre. We eat in the restaurants, but had tea/coffee first then ordered our lunch which was lovely, good choice of menu, but expensive but great food, quiche & sandwich, with cold drinks. It was very busy so took a very long time to get our food & drinks. We had a look around the garden centre which is huge, even got the Xmas stuff out including trees..... (Kids not gone back to school yet!!!!!) There is a kids trail as you go around around while the adults walk slowly round. I found it so lovely outside as you walked around & got some fab ideas for my garden. I will pop in to my local one to me too. Lots of clothes, gifts. plants indoor & out door, all you can find for your garden outside too. There is a sale on too in all deptments. Parking is free & lots of it. I would recommend & def go again when I am up next.

Lovely spacious restaurant with good choice of food. Nice atmosphere. Service can be a little slow and chaotic.

The Kitchen Restasurant, which used to be the Farmhouse restaurant, is fast, very clean but not very friendly. We were shown to a seat, given a menu each and left to ourown devices. Seconds later a waitress asked if we were ready to order. Obviously we weren't so she want away. When we had decided, we both ordered omelettes as there wasn't anything else on the menu that appealed to either of us. The omelettes were delicious. Tthe dirty plates were whisked away without a word and, for the next three quarters of an hour, no one came near us to ask if we wanted more drinks or a sweet (which we both did!). We tried to attract attention but were unsuccessful. Eventually we thought that someone was bound to come if we stood up and put on our coats - nothing. We could have walked straight out without paying, they were so inattentive. But, being honest people, we went to the desk and paid. Needless to say, we won't be patronising that restaurant again, nor will we recommend it to friends.
