Wong's Takeaway in Bolton

Been going there since I was a young lad and it's the best evening chippy and chinese in Howfen by a landslide, the waiting time can be poo but I never really have that problem because when I call I specifically ask to Speak to Pete and make it clear when it will be ready because I won't be waiting about and the food is always on time, 5 mins wait at latest

Chinese is really good just not worth the waiting time

BEST CHINESE TAKEAWAY EVER!! I go wongs on a regular basis the food here is magic you do wait a while for your order but everything he makes is fresh. The fish is immaculate pure white all the way through. But my favourite dish is chicken fried rice, if I had too eat 1 thing for the rest of my life that would be it.

The food here is absolutely lovely, never disappointed us! Cooked nice and fresh which does mean you are waiting for it a bit longer, sometimes an hour, but you know it's being made fresh for you and not just reheated. Mr Wong is absolutely lovely, always service with a smile :)

Amazing food, prices are not bad but you’ll be waiting forever for your food but believe me when I say it’s so worth the wait staff are really friendly

Ordered at 17:30, right on opening time, currently sat outside at 19:38 whilst my partner is waiting inside, they have been stood their 60 minutes, the excuse I got was Chinese orders have a wait, i understand waiting times but 6 other people walked out with large Chinese orders whilst mines still cooking by Candle Light, thanks Pete🤬👍🏽

Mr Wong, I must say.. I’ve ordered from your store every weekend for the past 4 weeks and that “Salt & Pepper Special” is on point 🤌🏼 Honestly the best bit of grub for a friday evening i’ve ever had, I look forward to next friday 😌

Ordered on the phone for collection. Food was still nor prepared after call (30mins later). Got takeaway took another 40 mins to prepare . Ridiculous , staff not bothered.

Top class food with real chicken not that square stuff some others use but... parking horrendous on the main road not helped by the fact that even when you pre order the food its never ready when you arrive im sure they don't start until you walk in. But having saidvthatvfood is second to none.

He's always busy so be patient he will serve you 🙂

Only chippy I will go to travel from wigan. Been going since I was a kid food does take a while but well worth it

It was a bowl of grease, I tipped out half a cup of oil from the bottom of my "chow main" Could not eat it at all without feeling sick

Not the best, used to be really good. Awful food. Chicken looked like fat! Wasn’t nice at all. Won’t be going back! Went in the bin. Should have gone to our normal and would have enjoyed it. Waste of money

Been going to this chippy since I was a child. Peter is friendly and the food is great. My parent have been all over Westhoughton/Leigh/Atherton area trying to find the perfect chippy and they still thinks Wong's fish is the tastiest.

Wait was to long,food was cold and chillie chicken was slimy and food was cold and very salty and when rang up they didn't want to know after spending 29 pounds and it all went in the bin 🤮🤢

Food is good but the service is dreadful. Place order by telephone and they NEVER cook it until you go to the take away to pick it up. Sometimes waiting 20 30 45 minutes. It's disgusting. Cars parked outside on single yellow all the time. Picking up preordered food should take 2 mins. This is their policy. Will not use again. This is the 6th time had to wait ages after ordering by phone

Fresh delicious food everytime, excellent customer service

By far the best Chinese and chippy in Westhoughton. Food takes a little longer but that’s because it’s made fresh, and you can certainly taste the difference. Portion sizes are great, and the food is always hot and super tasty. We have been coming here for the past 10 years+ and we would never go anywhere else for our food.

Wongs chippy owned by Pete and his family. A Great place for both Engliah and Chinese food. A variety of meals which are cooked with pride and taste great.. you can't go wong or should I say wrong choosing your takeaway from here. The cost is in line with most takeaways the portions are really good and you will probably end up with more than you can eat. I would recommend giving Wongs a try you wont be disappointed. To order it's best to ring up and order .you can pay cash or card but cash is preferred.

Pre ordered food on the phone to be told it would be 40 minute a. 1 hou 50 minutes later no food with a little one sat in the car . To be told it's been busy in the shop. What's the point telling people to call. This wait has got worse and worse over a 10 year period. We will now find better service elsewhere

Absolute joke. Unless you want your food ready in two years from now don’t bother. Rang and pre ordered, and yet I’m still sat waiting 40 minutes later!! Every time you ask how long, you get ‘10 mins’ ‘10mins’. I walk into any other Chinese in westhoughton and order there and then and have it in less than 15. This is an absolute joke. Not even worth the wait.

Very poor food. Chips were soggy ribs were cheap. The meat was greasy and fatty. Wouldn't go there again. Mans chippy over the road is 100% better in value and food quality

Absolutely appalling service. Waited 55mins for 1 meal after been told it would take up to 30mins. I had been recommended this place as high quality food.. But it has ruined my night as the meal was very poor quality. Definitely a place to avoid and will be going back to my local Chinese ( king Lee Horwich)

Had sweet and sour chicken and boiled rice gorgeous.

Absolutely fuming. Spent £27 for a meal for me and my family to get off chicken that stinks of fish. Came to the takeaway to explain and staff just weren’t willing to listen to our complaint telling us that it may be a fish sauce causing the smell but you could tell from the colour of the chicken that it was off! The chicken was a browny/beige colour , slimy and stringy and it’s very noticeable once you’ve cut a piece open. For the staff to basically ignore this issue is completely unprofessional and just wrong, 5 people have left half or all of their meals and could be seriously ill in the next few days. This will be going further due to how the staff have dealt with it, I personally find it disgusting.

Always great food, plenty of people remarking about waiting times but it's a 2 person operation, and you know that the food isn't being quickly microwaved in the back so worth the wait. Oh and the giant spring roll is amazing...

Brilliant food for tiny takeaway. Always busy and long wait even if you ring order in. Rang order in, told 20-25 mins and waited a further 20+ mins once arrived. Same thing every time so hence the three stars. Stick to quoted times and 5stars all day.

The food is excellent but be prepared for a long wait even just for chips and gravy. You have been warned.

Every single time we order from here, they say food will be ready in 30 mins then it takes another hour in the shop. 1.5 hours for takeaway is a joke. This has happened multiple times, definitely learned my lesson now and won't be back

Had a really poor experience with these. My food arrived about an hour late and it was all cold and soggy afterwards.

I have been eating at this chippy for 15 years and in my opinion it's the best there is. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food tastes great and the portions are generous. Keep up the good work 5/5.
