my favourite Chinese bakery,hope could creat more options for birthday cakes.

This is pretty much the only Chinese bakery left in Manchester after the other one in Faulkner street close down a few years ago (did it closed down during lockdown?). Overall their pastries are delicious. The only complained I got is the basket they used to store the baked goods are too small (half the size compared to supermarket basket)! I come from far away so I tend to buy it in bulk (example four or five of the meat buns and four of the custard buns etc). Can barely fit ten to twelves in two baskets. Also their coconut mochi is not quite how I liked them when compared to the other bakery but hey, it's better than nothing! The service are good as already mention, I buy them in bulked so of course the staff help me out putting them into a big bag of my at the till! Lastly I wish there was a more secure way to place my big bag down (grocery) when getting the goods. I left it near their table and while nothing bad has happened (eg a random strange run off with the dropped bag) but I am paranoid it could happened! Also I wished their website also shows the pastries they have selling. I get why they only shows the cakes as you can ordered those online. However it would be nice to see the pastries on offer beforehand before seeing it in person.

If you like Chinese pastries this is a great place. I'm not really a fan of Asian baking goods, but I found the mango cake to be exceptionally good! The black forest cake was okay as well as the other parties, but then again, when it comes to baked goods I just have a strong preference for the french, so my opinion is very biased.

The staffs are good service and the food is excellent! One thing I miss, the internet cafe and the old staffs 😞

the pineapple bun contains 0% pineapple. the char siew pastry was chewy at best. soy milk was the best amongst the items i tried.

Always come here the food is great and the price is good. The service is always good just make sure you bring cash as it’s cash only.

The bakery products here are gorgeous. There is a fantastic selection of the more traditional Chinese treats, all manner of buns both savoury and sweet, and beautifully presented extravagant gateaus - something for every taste surely. One point deducted for excessive use of plastic packaging. Some biodegradable materials would be good to see here. I try and remember to bring my own Tupperware to put the goodies in.

I bought a Salt Water Corner today. It was a little bit hollow inside and empty. The waiter didn’t smile and had an average attitude.

Really nice beverage menu. The matcha latte is very high in quality.

Cash only makes it very inconvenient for most people, lovely food though if you bring cash and a nice place to sit and eat. not really any savory vegetarian options, most buns have meat in them. Servers are kind yey blunt, and some are a little hard to understand if you aren't good at listening to accents but just have some patience, it's fine

I had bought a cake for my birthday, I got the rainbow cake. Now I thought that it was called that because of the fruit on top but to my surprise the actual cake was rainbow! Absolutely loved it truthfully the most delicious cake I have ever had.

Their halal food is limited, and it is all amazing, as if it is cotton, and their fillings are the most delicious, chocolate and coconut.

Una graciosa tienda de barkery sólo acepta efectivo o transferencia bancaria en el centro de Manchester, chicos, ¿qué piensan, por qué están haciendo eso? Siempre no hay sonrisa en su personal ni siquiera dice hola. Se ven enojados con cada cliente que se dejó caer en su tienda no siendo acogedor en absoluto. El precio tampoco es barato, como un bollo de piña £ 2. 5 , mucho más caro en comparación con Londres que están vendiendo por £ 1 . Sólo 90. Pagó £ 1. 8 para Ham sui gok (albóndigas de arroz glutinoso frito), y no tengo nada dentro. Una foto adjunta para chicos que quieren echar un vistazo. Es absolutamente una broma.

A funny barkery store only accepts cash or bank transfer in Manchester City centre, guys, what do you think, why are they doing that? Always no smile on their staff even says hello. They look angry with every customer who dropped in their store not being welcoming at all. Price is not cheap either, like a pineapple bun £2.5, a lot expensive compard with London which they are selling for £1.90 only. Paid £1.8 for Ham sui gok (fried glutinous rice dumplings), and I got nothing inside. A picture attached for guys who want to have a look. It is absolutely a joke.

Definitely worth stopping by. Their pastries and cakes are made fresh throughout the day, and the constant flow of customers mean they need to bake and replenish frequently. You can see their bakers baking and decorating cakes too. It’s mooncake season now - they make their own! - you can taste the difference between fresh made vs general grocery store bought. Cash only though.

Breads and cakes are lovely, everything is good. Prices gone up alot due to lack of competition. Drinks are still good value. Staff attitude previously is questionable but have noticed improvements

Been coming here for many years after a friend introduced me to it. Love chinese bakeries and especially this one. The cakes are so fresh, light, and fluffy, and I love the combination of ingredients they use like the sweet lotus bean, black bean and the pineapple buttercream and taro whipped cream. Just delicious, and all made fresh on site. So many choices for both savoury and sweet tastebuds...😊

My childhood memories are stored in this place 😭 Amazing bread (especially the pineapple bread), cakes and buns. Birthday cakes from wong Wong are fluffy and not too sweet and made with cream and not buttercream or fondant. Personally I love love love the pineapple bread with sweet bean filling and an underrated pick is the sausage and cheese bread and custard bun But pineapple bread so good 🥺

Terrible customer service. I bought £40 worth of bakery items and asked for one of their paper boxes because I was gifting them to a friend. They used to freely give away these paper boxes with nearly every purchase but refused to give me one, and even refused to SELL me one, saying they were only for large cakes. It's just a box! What's the big deal?? This was also the manager/owner I spoke to. Absolutely ridiculous! Putting each bun in a plastic bag is terrible for the environment too!

Poor service and bad quality bread.

I had a turtle bun with a delicious sweet bean filling made from a soft brioche bread. The taste and texture were lovely and it was only 2.50! I also had a big portion of milk bubble tea for only 3.50, which was prepared for me really quickly. My friend had a fruit tea with orange slices and strawberries in it that looked really good also and I will definitely be bringing my family here at some point. The prices are affordable and the food and drinks are high quality. The only suggestion I have is that as a vegetarian the savory buns all had meat, and a bun with just cheese and no sausage or pork would be a great item to add.

Delicious buns and drinks in big portions and for an affordable price! I've had the roast pork bun, taro bun and the turtle shaped bun, as well as the original milk tea and the fruit tea (which is so refreshing - it's got fresh fruit in it!). Three huge buns and a tea was only a tenner! Lovely atmosphere too - light and space to sit and eat, and not too noisy. The only thing I'd consider is it doesn't have savoury vegetarian buns, it'd be good to have some cheese buns w no meat or something.

The Chinese bakery was amazing. They had authentic boba tea and it tasted so good. Their tea was superb. Must try there cookies it was melt in mouth. Go to place in china town!!

Lovely Chinese bakery with very competitive prices

Traditional Japanese pastry, it has many products, each one more appetizing, very rich and fluffy sweets. The place is very simple and the product is the star, the downside is that you cannot pay by card, only cash or bank transfer.

The products look delicious, I ate the pineapple roll and drank the macha latte, which were very good, maybe I would have given 4 stars if the tables were worn. The decor itself needs to be refreshed.

Great Chinese bakery: excellent food with clear allergen listings, at a great price (~£3.50 per filled bun) They only take cash, and have a small space to eat inside (you can also obvs take your buns to go). Really enjoyed the pork and pineapple bun, and something I've forgetten the name of, but was functionally a tuna-mayo roll inside a nori sheet, with savoury candy floss on the sides (not being sarcy, was genuinely ace!)

This is my first time visiting this bakery. I feel like the staff are constantly cooking and there is no friendly feeling at all. I don’t know if the bread is good or not, because I haven’t eaten it yet so I rushed to comment.

Great place to grab a Hong Kong pastry. We had egg tarts, thousand egg pastry and bubble teas. All tasted great! Egg tarts were even warm and there was a queue the whole time when we were there enjoying our tarts. Popular spot!

Absolutely delightful egg tart with a perfectly flaky crust and tasty custard filling - sheer heaven! The peanut butter “pancake” was amazing as well: just the right ratio of crunchy peanut butter filling to mochi-like pastry. Highly recommend this bakery!

It’s officially Springtime!!💗 To celebrate this I went down to Chinatown. I’ve been craving Chinese pastries for a long time now and decided to save this trip for a special day. After some minutes of getting lost lol! I finally looked across the road from the one leading to the entrance gate of Chinatown and spotted Wong Wong bakery!! Delighted I went up and picked up some of my favourites; Roast pork( Char Siu) Bun, a pack of the mini sponge cake & flower cream bun!! Honestly when I got home, wished I bought more portions!!Everything tasted perfect; from the fresh and soft buns to the sponge cakes which were milky and the sugar level was just right!!10/10 across the board! I will definitely be making a trip downtown again this time with more CASH, as it’s a cash only policy. A perfect way to start this new season of spring 💗💗 P.s: this alongside my favourite bubble tea from Ohayo was a combo made in heaven. Please check out my review on there too!

Getting a bit pricy but the buns are always nice!

Went to get some nice buns a cakes for lunch today, the shelves were a bit empty. So Nikki (staff member) was barging past me and my little girl with trays of buns and cakes, she didn’t even say excuse me, or anything. Just expected us to move when we weren’t even in her way. I have visited the bakery a few times when we come a visit Manchester , and I just find that she’s rude and never smiles.

Unless you are chinese speaking I would strongly, strongly recommend you don't use this bakery for anything. They botched up my order and they gave me a lot of grief placing it because the person taking it could hardly speak english. As other people have mentioned, customer service is very poor. I ordered an expensive cake and made it very clear what I wanted, no fruit on the cake, but despite them confirming the details to me in writing, stating no fruit on the cake, they took no responsibility for providing the wrong order to me, which was for an important birthday party, thereby ruining the event. When I told them they should provide some kind of refund as it was their fault they refused, suggesting it was my fault because the cake was collected and not rejected at the store even though they clearly messed up the order and they would otherwise have left me with no cake at all. They even suggested my order was placed incorrectly, till I showed them it was confirmed by them in their own order confirmation, nice try to avoid the responsibility. They were very rude and contemptuous when I told them about my dissatisfaction. They insist in payment in advance in cash, no cards, so it is likely you will have no option but to accept whatever they give you on the day if it is an order for a special occasion and you pick it up on the day. I would definitely recommend therefore NOT to order from here if you are interested in getting what you ordered. The cakes are also not that nice, with very sweet artificial tasting cream and amateur looking decorations. The convoluted order process was great hassle and I could not understand them for a great part.

Always loved Wong Wong, love the freshly baked goods. However, definitely feel like the quality have drop overtime. Bought some char xiu (roast pork) bun and egg tarts. There was barely any char xiu in the bin, don’t get me wrong. I love the bun but also would like to get what I paid for. Egg tarts are good but the forms have been a bit poor looking, but no big deal, just thought I’d mentioned it.

They don't take card so that is a bit annoying, but good thingy pastries.

Discovered this place recently and have been back multiple times since. I often get the roast pork pineapple bun for a quick lunch as I work nearby. The egg tarts are excellent too. I’ve not tried the cakes yet but they look great and they even do full size cakes for birthdays/special occasions. Overall incredible food, the most friendly staff, and such great value compared to other places in the area! Only thing to consider is that it is cash only.

Good Chinese bakery. The egg custard was flaky, fresh and warm when we visited. We also got some bread. You can also see the chef making and decorating the bakes in the back. Visited whilst visiting Manchester chinatown. We got the chestnut cake and matcha cake.

Best Chinese bakery in Manchester. I often pop in for a peanut mochi (the boxed ones just don't compare) or a bun. This week I got a birthday cake from there. It is delicious, the fruit is very fresh and the ordering process was quick and clear. The staff are really nice too.

Original Hong Kong taste, in particular the egg Swiss rolls. Makes you feel travel back in time to the 1970-80s of Hong Kong sole proprietor style.

Delicious soft flaky egg tart and preserved egg crisp. Hong Kong style coffee is dark and creamy without sugar. Enjoyable morning munchy spot.

A really nice quaint bakery well tucked in Princess street. Got great cakes , biscuits and pastries. Contactless/ card payment not allowed not allowed only cash or bank transfer. Prices are very reasonable and their cakes are to die for. Overall a brilliant place for a quick snack and carry some bread home to munch on later in the day with some high tea

Terrible customer service and terrible organisation, ordered a Birthday cake on Friday and was told no such order was made and no payment was received, was told to wait 15min and they would make a new one and was asked to pay again. No apology no nothing! Extremely rude and unprofessional, for £45 the cake tasted disgusting and super dry, won’t be returning!

its alright, im fairly sure they just get the stuff premade and then just bake it there since everythings chocked full of additives and all sorts of chemicals. tastes alright regardless, not as good as people say it just looks good.
