Wolds Fish Bar in Rushcliffe

I have tried to give this place another chance because back in the day it was great. However, over time it's gradually become absolutely terrible, to the point I'd say the worst I've ever had - I'm not exaggerating. The chips I just got were wet with oil and tasted of burnt oil. I'm guessing they are re-using the oil. I tried a few different looking chips and threw the rest away. awful and feel a little sick tbh. Bar the bad food, it's wildly expensive. Sad to say you have lost my custom after nearly 20 years or so. Sad to see.

Always excellent. Huge portions . Staff very helpful and friendly. Always full which is an indicator of how good it is.

Just a standard chippy, bit greasy to be honest but I’ve had worse. Used to be a lot cheaper than the better chippy nearby but not anymore.

Best chip shop there is Theres a good choice on the menu always cooked fresh. I always chose to come here as the food is always delicious

I go to the Wolds most weekends. As a coeliac I’m impressed with the GF range. The rest of the family tell me the regular fish I’d superb. The chips are great and come in huge portions. I’ve never had a bad meal in 10 years.

I ordered a dinner Kebab and the meat was not cooked, I also ordered chips and they were uncooked, they were raw.. Unfortunately this chip shop has gone seriously downhill!

The food is overpriced the taste was edible at best I wasn't offered salad on my meal even though i ordered the same as my friend and they put the wrong sauce on my order

Worst fish and chips we have had for years... overpriced as well. Definitely will NOT be returning! Greasy, tasteless, skin left on fish and the tail end was rock hard! Not for me thank you..

The chips tasted awful they taste of wax. All 4 family members couldn't eat them, We thought it was rather expensive as well, We certainly won't be returning.

Horrendous. Greasy soggy chips, batter like cake, chicken meat dry. Just all round disgusting. £24 in the bin. I don’t get how this place is still open.

Ordered on New Year’s Eve yes I accept it will be busy. Placed the order at 21:00 cancelled on Deliveroo at 23:00 o my god! Even their website said it was shut! Really avoid. Carl

We had the fish & chips and chicken wrap meal -Generous portions & tasted very fresh . I will definitely be coming back .cheers!

Best Fish and Chips in the area by far and great quality. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Wish I’d never bothered nearly £22 and went straight in the bin. I asked for small given large. Fish had never hit a fryer chips was like biting into grease. Worst place I’ve ever eaten. Avoid.

I know from now on to stay with my local fish bar (Ruddington) as theses were terrible. Batted sausage was wet, soggy mess. The sausage itself was disgusting, no flavour. Chip were alright not amazing. It's the price that amazed me £6 for just that. Must be having a tin bubble bath.

First thing I noticed was the bad smell of the fish!!! Chucked that straight in the bin!! The chips were just as bad. They tasted really odd and not pleasant as all. The worst fish and chips we have ever had in west bridgford! Really...

our chips had a very funny taste as if they had been cooked in old fat. The fish has cold spots in it, suggesting it has been reheated. Also the peas were cold. £15 down the drain. Thank you but i won’t be returning.

Fish was cooked so much that you could not cut it ! Chips were pale and not cooked , actually was raw potatoe, the mushy peas smelled and tasted of bleach ! All went in the bin , waste of money Never again to this...

Used to love this chip shop but not anymore! Probably won’t go again. Every time I go now the food is barely warm, dripping in grease, soggy and seems like it’s been sat there for hours. Service wasn’t great either, no offer of salt and...

The best gluten free fish and chips I’ve found since being Coeliac. I order from here regularly and never get any symptoms. Staff are careful with cross contamination and are very useful and friendly when I call up to check which portion is gluten free....

Sadly not the best Fish n Chips. Fish itself was nicely cooked and fish flaky, but batter was not crispy and the chips had an after taste. Can only imagine that chips cooked in old/stale fat? Mushy peas were quite watery. Portion sizes were good

Ordered a cod and small chips with a potato fritter and when I got back they had given me a manky overcooked haddock which must have been sat there a good while , the potato in the fritter was hard in places and the chips...

Abbiamo preso un Wolds Specials (il classico fish & Chips) e un kebab Deal al pollo, risultato tuto senza infamia né lode.

Paid £7-45 for small fish, chips and peas today, sadly it was very, very poor, worst fish and chips we’ve ever had, we won’t be going there again!!!!

Used to be good chippy but visited yesterday and was not impressed. Had large Fish n Chips twice. Very greasy. Batter too thick, hard and too much off it. Fish odd texture especially as supposed to be cod (it obviously wasn't). Very hard to hold...

I asked for cod and they gave me haddock. The fish was dry and tasteless as if it had been cooked hours ago. The chips were the same soggy and also cooked hours ago. I had to smother the fish in tomato sauce but eventually...

The staff in this place are very rude and inconsiderate ,on my last visit the order was made wrong i told her this and she just gave me a nasty stare ,she then still got it wrong i explained again as i was only ordering 1 item she has no manners whatsoever very rude no apologies very miserable never ever seen her smile or say hello or thank you. On my previous visit had a person with learning difficulties in with his carer when they made their order he stated about the amount of food he needed the owner overheard this and lost her temper ,i was totally shocked by all this .live local but will never use this place again plenty good fish and chips in the area.

Well if you like grease this is the place to go had a battered beef burger been wrapped up with loads of chip paper and the grease ewas dripping though it.Fish cake was rock hard think it was from the day before.Mushy peas are like bullets.Only decent thing was the gravy.Place has gone downhill used to be nice,but when i was in the you could smell the old fat smell wish I didn’t bother

Worst meal I’ve ever had, if you wanna throw 6 pound 50 down the drain this is your place to be. Battered sausage was more like a cake with sausage in it. I’ve had better chips from car boot sales.

La comida era buena, porciones grandes pero cobraron un poco más de lo que habíamos pedido. Cuando preguntamos, simplemente nos dijeron que los precios habían aumentado y que estaban esperando que se actualizaran las pantallas electrónicas. Comprenda que durante el bloqueo esto podría haber sido difícil. Sin embargo, luego se sorprendió al ver una escritura a mano garabateada que "preferían los pagos en efectivo", algo extraño en tiempos de una pandemia y que todos intentan cortar el contacto.Sin embargo, volví esta semana solo para ver todo igual, y las pantallas de precios aún son incorrectas y presionan para pagos en efectivo. . . . no puedo inventarlo. Una vez más, no hay PPE en ningún personal y muy cerca unos de otros. Lo siento, solo se veía muy poco profesional con carteles escritos a mano en todas partes, ¡decidí perderlo e ir a un lugar que pague sus impuestos como tengo que hacerlo!

Soggy, sticky half-cooked chips, inadequately seasoned. A "fish" that came out in 18 pieces with batter peeling off, no sign of form or care taken to produce a presentable, palatable meal. Disappointing.

Everytime I visit this chip shop I’m really impressed by it, it’s spotlessly clean, has a really good menu and the staff are really good. West Bridgford has some great chip shops but this one is the best.

Well worth a visit. I popped in close to closing time and they did not have any fish and chips but fried some up fresh for me. Great customer service and delicious fish and chips.

If you are in West Bridgford, Nottingham & you fancy eating fish & chips....this is the place to go. The Wolds Fish Bar is only 10 mins from Trent Bridge cricket & football. There is parking outside.I have tried every chippy in West Bridgford & this is the best. They do al the usual chip shop stuff but also kebabs, which are superb. They even do Gluten free.There are also 2 tables inside if you decide to eat-in.I have been coming here for a few years now & have never been disappointed. Maria & her staff always give a warm welcome & are super efficient.....the queue you may find outside is not because they’re slow...it’s because they are excellent. Don’t worry though..... you will not be waiting long.I promise you will return.
