Wok Ever Palace in Kirklees

We took 8 friends who were going for the first time and as anyone who had been there would know the owner Ming who runs the restuarant with military precision was unsuprisingly absent on the night but nothing changed the food was fantastic impressing our friends, the services brilliant, a great night out.

We visited Wok Ever Palace for the first time and we were not disappointed - friendly service and delicious food! I called to book and the guy on the phone was great - I told him my allergies and that we are vegan and asked if they could accommodate, to which he said they would (and they did). There is a vegan menu - they need to add sides as the salt and pepper chips are vegan and they were amazing! We had mixed vegetables with vermicelli, mock chicken with vermicelli and some salt and pepper tofu (starter as a side). The food was fresh and tasty! If you have severe allergies, they make it clear that there could be contamination, but everything is cleaned. We will definitely be back! They just need to add some vegan dessert to the menu ;)

Very attentive staff. Fast service. Not much time to breathe between courses. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Ordered a large glass of wine....it wasn't that large when arrived but my goodness the bill for it was. Would like to return but with drink costing almost as much as the food, I need to think twice.

Great surroundings. Really organised and attentive staff. Food came out swiftly. For me the important part was they had a separate vegan menu. I wish I'd taken photos to show .but we enjoyed a sweet and sour mock chicken and a mapo tofu hot pot. They were DELICIOUS.

We called in early on a Saturday evening and were fortunate to get a spare table. The menu is extensive with probably too much choice. We shared starters of chicken wings in Thai chilli sauce and salt and pepper king prawn. The chicken wings had plenty of meat and the sauce was spicy. The prawns were cooked to perfection but the spice level was lower than usual for this dish. For main course my wife ordered the sizzling chicken with ginger and onions. Because the sauce was gloopy the sizzling didn’t really take effect and the dish was a bit bland. I had the beef in Sichuan sauce - tender beef with a mixture of crispy vegetables in a moderately spiced sauce. Total bill including rice, prawn crackers and a drink apiece was £55 Overall we enjoyed the starters more than the mains.

Been to wok ever a few times for a eat in but this time a take away. What a feast for me an our lass. Beef satay for me and sweet and sour chicken for wife. Incredible food highly recommend this place. Many thanks to all staff and see you all soon

My fave Chinese! Always order from here and never had a bad experience. My favourite is the chicken chow mein with added mushrooms and king prawns

Terrible cheap prawn toast. Absolutely the worst crispy duck I have ever had the misfortune to taste. Bill was £40 quid. £20 straight in the bin. The rest low grade produce nibbled at then binned. Don’t waste your money. Just poor poor poor.

A family night out to celebrate my wifes birthday, what a great night, brilliantly organised by the owner, Ming. Fantastic Chinese food and just the best service, highly recommended.

We got a take away Sunday 30th Starters , chicken and sweetcorn soup , like water Chicken satay skewers, next to no sauce with them. Mains , special curry , very very runny and next to no meat. Sweet and sour chicken , again very runny and not a lot of chicken , filled out with vegetables. Extras , salt and pepper chips, might as well have got plain chips as they had no taste. Egg fried rice , over cooked and hard. This was the first time we have had a takeaway from here as we normally go to the wok ever in Scholes, certainly won’t be getting one from the restaurant again, if we had have been eating in the restaurant we would have sent everything back.

We got a takeaway like we have many times before. I usually spend £60 plus, last night I still spent over £40. I obviously expected a nice bag of free prawn crackers, they gave us the smallest bag in the world. It had 6 in. I was absolutely appalled at this Completely unacceptable and it ruined our meal.

This was disgusting, got our order wrong to start with, but accused us of ordering wrong, rubber chicken, that looked so undercooked, and raw vegetables

Once again a fabulous evening was had by all ten of us on a busy Saturday evening. The service was superb and the food was delicious as always. One of my most favourite places to be . Ming the manager is the most welcoming and is extremely professional at all levels. Thankyou again Barbara

My brother introduced me to this restaurant a couple of years ago and we keep going back! This is second time we have celebrated the Chinese New Year at the Wok Ever Palace. It has a car park at the back, which is a plus. However, the service was businesslike, rather than friendly or unfriendly. Time for food was OK, and the food itself was fine, although one portion of dim sum, set out as (4) on the menu, arrived as 3: we ordered Sui Mai & Sui Lung Bao. A pot of Chinese tea soon emptied. The lid cocked at an angle didn’t attract attention, but on catching her eye a waitress did offer to refill with water. When it eventually returned, it had I guess been standing several minutes, and I wonder whether the leaves had been boiled into bitterness. The main dishes were I think enjoyed by our party of four. The decor was pleasant, with some Christmas lighting still up. Musac was western—Chinese would have been more atmospheric—though nice and quiet enough. All in all I’d give it average grades, and suggest that prices were a little high for the package.

Went here last night, really enjoyed the food, and the knowledge of the food the staff had, who recommended a few dishes that were WOW, will definitely be going here more often. Never knew there was such a Gem of a place at my door step. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend this place for some amazing food.

Went for a pre xmas meal on Sunday evening 7.00 pm. Initially we had doubts as we weren't met by anyone, we just had to join queue at the bar where we told them we had a table booked. Once we had got our drinks we were then promptly shown upstairs to our table. It has to be said, it was initially a little noisy, but as this is a restaurant that welcomes families with kids this has to be expected, and there were a few groups in there, but we could still talk without too much difficulty. As these larger parties went, the noise level obviously reduced.We all ordered the xmas set meal.We were all very pleased with our meal, the food was good, the service was excellent and friendly, and the table was even wiped over between courses.I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and we will definitely been going again.

One of our favourite local restaurants! The whole experience at Wok Ever Palace is centred around excellent food AND customer service. No wonder it's always busy.From the ease of online booking, the fantastic food (we went for a banquet this time - excellent!), the attentive and professional staff, through to booking our taxi home, can't fault this reaturant.

The Wok Ever Palace is my favourite eating place, without a doubt. Last evening, (23rd November), we held a party there for my wife's 70th birthday.We were a party of twenty two, and we had a great evening. The food was excellent, as always, and the staff were great. Ming and his team made it a very memorable evening. We were made to feel special, but that's to be expected at this restaurant. Thanks again, Ming, and thanks to the team; particularly the young man who was tasked with cutting the cake into twenty two pieces.I cannot speak too highly of this establishment. Absolutely first rate.

We just wanted to put a review on because everything was amazing ! From the staff, to the excellent cuisine. We have been a couple of times before, and each time is better than the last. This time we went for my birthday, to my surprise a dessert was given to me ( with a candle in it ) whilst the staff sang happy birthday. They did the same for another lady in the restaurant too for her birthday. Min is the perfect host, extremely attentive. Guiding the newer younger staff along the way. Nothing was too much trouble as I asked for things not on the menu. I would recommend the salt & pepper chicken strips... amazing ! We already plan to go back ASAP, my favourite restaurant by far. A family get together.The food was delicious ,the menu many choices, a friendly and efficient service, with a personal touch. We will definitely go again.

Visited Wok Ever for a family Sunday get together. Lovely food, great service and nice atmosphere. Drinks a little pricey but all in all a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Car park at rear is small but turn left at the lights instead of right and there's one just a short distance away.

This was our second time eating here. We chose off of the Sunday menu as the first time we went the bill ended up being expensive. Very tasty and attentive staff. Will be eating here again. 👍🏻

We booked for a birthday meal and when we got there on the two walls (we were sat on corner table ) it had happy birthday posters lovely touch The service was excellent and the food was amazing Think for the service it's the attention to detail ie change of napkins and cutlery also keeping the table clean what lovely staff

Well worth a visit ,the only thing wrong is you need more rice ...not enough is given for the food you get

We booked our table earlier in the week, arrived a few minutes early, were greeted warmly and had a minimal wait to be shown to our table.. There were 4 of us, all had different starters which were hot, and very tasty. Our main dishes were generous also tasty and fresh. Service was extremely good and all the staff friendly. Will be returning soon. Just a small word of caution, the drinks are expensive.

I went last Saturday with family amazing food amazing service cant wait to go again nothing was too much trouble.

5 weeks ago we dined in the restaurant but this time decided to try a meal at home. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal there, and we were equally impressed with the food to take out. We live 10-15 minutes away, but the food was almost waiting for me.The food was excellent and stayed hot enough to eat without any further heating. The servings were same size as in the restaurant, and we had to leave a bit to eat later. Certainly as good as a doggy bag. The flavours and taste were better than any other takeaway we have tried in our area.

We stopped off here on our way home for some good quality Chinese food. The service and food is brilliant. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We love it here and will keep coming.

Visited Sunday 01/09/19 had a fabulous meal everything was beautiful, we were allowed time in between starter and main meal which is important to me I hate being rushed to eat, the staff are very helpful and friendly which of course they should be, we will be back again

Busy place, very popular but I left feeling vaguely dissatisfied. Didn't go for anything grand..had the fish with sweet chili sauce. It was OK but the fish was tasteless and the sauce was nothing special. Friends enjoyed the food but nothing was amazing. What did surprise me are the prices, most main courses around £10 with £3.50 for fried rice.However the staff were very attentive and kept service moving without being obtrusive. May give it another go and try something a bit special to see if the food is better than my first impression.

Decided to have a change from our usual restaurant whilst visiting my wife’s sister and husband, what a good choice, the service, the food was exceptional, no wonder you have to book in advance, this is one of the best Chinese meals we have had, coupled with a very reasonable price we have no problem with strongly recommending the Wok ever.

The car parking is very small and difficult to get in and out with big car but large parking available 50 yards away (only downside). We were out to celebrate my wife’s birthday.The restaurant is very well laid out with seating in the entrance by the bar so easy to pass the time waiting for a table, but we didn’t have to wait. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to strangers.After seating we received excellent advice and drinks were served quickly. The food arrived almost as quickly. Everything was piping hot and served on clean, warm crockery. The food was excellent and attentive staff to make sure we were happy with everything.The prices are medium range and very good value for money. Recommend it to anyone but do book if you are a party as the place is very popular.

I very rarely eat in Chinese restaurants because in my experience you are lucky to get an ounce of meat mixed in with loads of noodles and MS. There fore we generally eat Thai or Indian which is better value.First impressions was very good ,the door was opened for us by a member of staff before we had chance ourselves. The great service continued through out the meal being efficient and friendly. Special mention to the waiter and head waiter.The food was better than expected a bit bland and without the finer touches of a good Thai restaurant.It will be the service we remember above all and could be the reason we return.

Always enjoy my meals at Wok Ever, staff are always welcoming, helpful and courteous. Ming, the manager, always comes round to check if everything is okay - if there’s a problem he will rectify it if possible. 👍

We visited twice in a few weeks for two family birthdays.The food is supurb, good portion sizes and freshly cooked.The staff are friendly and helpful. Absolutely fantastic My hubby and l were in the area for a wedding and we decided to eat here, would highly recommend this resturant .From the minute you walk in you are greeted by smart , friendly staff , we ordered a set menu and we was not disappointed the food was tasty , hot and plentiful .The waiters came and cleaned the table and changed your knives and forks and napkin every time you were finished .They asked if you wanted a break between each course to give you a bit of time to relax.If I was ever in the area again i wouldn't hesitate to come here for a meal .Well done I have only found service like this in Michelin starred resturant .

The food was nice enough but not up to the quality I'd expect given the prices. My mussel starter had good flavours but sadly the mussels themselves were rubbery and had obviously been frozen. Likewise the sizzling beef main only sizzled because it was poured into a very hot dish in front of us. However the staff were very friendly and efficient

I come here often with friends, as a couple or with family. The service & food is superb! It is the best Chinese restaurant for miles! 10/10!
