Went to the Open Day today with our 3 little dogs and they were raising money for St.Alban's school. What a lovely day! Some of the children had made cakes and they all looked delicious but we couldn't manage them all!!! Everyone seemed to be enjoying the pleasant company of quite a few locals and the sunshine made it a particularly special day. Gnomes were up for adoption too - great fun!

Had a really lovely, relaxed day at Winthrop Gardens with friends for Afternoon Tea. This was hosted by lovely Anna who was very entertaining and "comical". The "Tea" was great, plenty of varied sandwiches, mini quiches and scones - still warm with Jam and clotted cream, tiny cakes and plenty of Tea, all served in china cups. It is really worth a visit. It gives you a chance to wear "your fancy hats". There was a quiz re horse racing theme. A really great afternoon.

Winthrop gardens provides a good half way stop if taking a circular walk of Wickersley in addition to being a place to meet up with friend and taking out elderly relatives. The food is good value for money and the service is delivered by warm hearted volunteers. It’s very leisurely so you can’t be in a rush. Their bistro events are good value and the fact you can take your own makes it very appealing. If you are local a good place to consider. Don’t go to late in the day as the delicious cakes may already have been eaten.

Along with a group of friends, we ate at Winthrop Gardens Greek night and what a brilliant time we had! Small and cosy, the food was excellent, the service attentive and prompt and the host, Anna gave us a potted history of the gardens. So enjoyable. We made new friends and were able to look round the lovely gardens after our meal. We will be back for the intriguingly entitled Yorkshire night. Watch this space....

We discovered this place while on a walk but it only opens Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday as it is volunteer run. We picked up a leaflet from the dispenser and decided to return for afternoon tea one day. We had to book a couple of days in advance so took a chance on the weather staying fine. We arrived early to look round the beautiful gardens and then headed to the cafe. We were presented with sandwiches, egg, cream cheese and cucumber and ham, small hot savoury tarts and sausage rolls, small scones with jam and clotted cream, and a selection of four cakes which we cut in half so we could sample them all. There was unlimited tea but we could have done with a little more jam for the scones. The place is very relaxed,, and everything is done at a slower pace, which give you a chance to get away from the bustle of everyday life. The staff were friendly, and spent time trying to guess the ages of a group of children who came in with their parents Good to see it's a dementia friendly cafe too, but as I always say if you are friendly in general, that's the first step, and these people certainly are friendly. Well worth a visit and it's free to look round the garden.

As a charity for visually impaired people, we are made very welcome at this wonderful garden. We were given a narrated tour of the gardens followed by an organised meal for all. Every need was catered for, including dietary needs and wheelchairs. The volunteers were amazing throughout and the food, second to none. This is our third visit and everyone in the group loved every minute. We definitely recommend it's well worth a visit. Thank you to Anna and the A-team.

I stumbled across this when I was reviewing another local cafe. It’s a truly hidden gem with homemade soups, scones and cakes. I had the bacon, brie and cranberry panini and others had the coriander and carrot soup. We all finished with a home made scone and jam. All delicious! We had a wander around the gardens and a browse in the curiosity shop. A pleasant afternoon out. Will definitely be back!

I enjoyed the garden with lots of lovely flowers, I would recommend going in spring when more flowers have bloomed. The staff were inviting and very helpful.

6 of us and a baby visited on a Saturday afternoon for a lovely afternoon tea. I had booked a couple of weeks in advance and the table was set for us as we walked in. The afternoon tea was definitely worth the £8.50 each, it included sandwiches, mini quiches, sausage rolls, scones and cakes with lots of tea and coffee. 3 of us are vegetarians and were well catered for. We then had a lovely walk around the gardens.

Apparently you need to book afternoon tea, which mum had organised for us. A really good price, with a nice selection of sandwiches, cake and scones.

Amazing visited today as a special treat for Mother’s Day for afternoon tea. The food was amazing plenty of verity and there was so much we were able to take half the cakes home. All the food was very fresh home cooked food. The staff were all very attentive nothing was too much trouble very friendly. The price was very reasonable if anything they could charge more. They would definitely give Betty’s in Harrogate a run for there money. Thank you for making my day so special. Well done

A lovely Coffee/tea House. My first visit and I live in maltby. Inside is very spacious with comfy sofas and an outside eating area. It is very clean inside including the baby chair we used. In alot of other local tea rooms the baby chairs have been filthy. There was a good choice of hot drinks and cakes very reasonable priced. I highly recommend this coffee house and this is the one I will be using again
