Winterton Fish Bar in Great Yarmouth

Our 3rd year staying in the village and it’s becoming a tradition to get our first nights meal from here. This time there were 10 of us and everything was great (as previously) fish had tasty, crisp batter, chips were fantastic, sausages and fish cakes all went down well and the order was all correct.

Was very disappointed with Winterton chip shop! Chips were absolutely atrocious! They were tasteless and like rubber and without a doubt reheated. The rest of the food also not great at all, in future we will avoid.

Ordered online to avoid queues. The chips were soggy and overcooked. Baskets of pre cooked chips are held in a rack and then warmed up when needed. Never to return

Great quality, customer service was good! Fish was a good size and well priced along with the specials deal. We will be back

First time visiting since new owners too over last april . Rest assured its still in good hands . Yummy Fish and Chips served with friendly conversation xx

Under new management and clearly have taken on feedback around quality of chips. Having previous left a poor review, would definitely rescind it now. Freshly cooked! Piping hot and crispy fat chips. Will definitely revisit next time in winterton. No long will need to travel to nearby places to get a decent fish and chips. Well done new team!

A lovely little fish and chip shop. Some points to note: - This is a small shop on the coast and in a small lovely village. - it’s going to be busy on a Friday and Saturday evening - it’s great quality - Very fair prices (I think they could charge more) - lovely people - well worth the visit Given the above, it’s sad when some people leave bad reviews because they had to wait for their food that is being cooked fresh. It isn’t a McDonald’s drive thru and so don’t expect food in a couple of minutes when there is a big queue! If you want good quality then it will be busy and you may have to wait. Think about it, would you rather go somewhere with a large queue or somewhere that is empty. Overall the visit to the area was great and what better way to spend a Friday evening that a walk on the beach with some fresh fish and chips!

Sadly what let this place down was the staff, the female server, young with glasses is rude and very passive aggressive. She asked how I’d like to pay, I asked how much it was and her response “I don’t know”! In a very loud aggressive tone. Such a shame as the food is delicious, although as they advice be prepared to wait for your food

Went in for some chips and fishcakes on a Friday evening but they didn't have either and they did seem to be in a chaotic state. People were actually queuing down the road and apparently to get any chips you would have to wait for at least an hour. Have you ever heard of a fish and chip shop not having any chips. You are forever queuing here and the service is so unreliable.

Great food and great service. It seems very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike, so you may well see a queue, but it's well worth the wait! Perhaps a bit random with their changing "frying times", but that must be the way they tick at The Winterton Fish Bar.

Great food - good portion size and good taste and texture. Was told 30 mins to wait but it was 55 mins in the end which felt a little too long particularly when waiting for the kids food.

Me went to get fish and chips last night around 6pm, was told it was a half hour wait which was ok, went back after 30 mins and still not ready, had to wait a further 20+ minutes, the chips were average, guessing they went to harvest the potatoes on that night we had to wait that long .. We won't be coming back next time we're in the area .

The battered sausage was the best I’ve had for ages. The chips were crunchy and fluffy at the same time. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Could see about a dozen people waiting outside but decided to give it a go anyway, so we ordered our cod and chips. Twenty minutes later my order was handed over to me, my word, what a find this place is, without doubt the best fish and chips we've ever had. Wished we had found it sooner but we will be back before we go home.

Great Fish & Chips A very busy little fish & chip shop, we ordered online and collected after a pint at the nearby pub. Best fish and chips we’d had in ages. However as per usual when I put in a large order little things are always missing from our order. Ordered 4 x mushy peas and 4 x the homemade tartar sauce (very nice by the way) Got back to the cottage we was staying at to find we only had 1 mushy peas and 2 tartar sauces. Yeah I could have nipped back where I’m sure they would have rectified the missing items but then I’d of ended up with cold fish and chips so didn’t bother. Still I’d highly recommend this chip shop just double check your order before leaving.

The best fish and chips we have tasted in years.. the fish was fried fresh to order and the chips were fresh not frozen potatoes and double cooked. Couldn't fault it. Definitely be back when we come here again 😋

Best chips I have had in a long time! I had homemade fish cake - it was big, crispy and absolutely delicious. Husband had haddock, crispy tasty batter. I would definitely recommend, app ordering is so easy and ready when we got there.
