Living locally we like to call in when the weather is nice, enjoy an ice cream and take in the view. As always this weekend the ice cream was great and reasonably priced. Also got our Labrador a doggy ice cream which went down well.

The ice cream is ok - there’s a nice range of flavours and it’s nice quality but there are in my opinion more quality makers in the area. The reason for the average score is the service ! So grumpy ! How can you be miserable serving people inc children ice cream ? Honestly the whole atmosphere was sour and clearly it’s the culture there. Really sad and please review - getting an ice cream should be treat and not feeling an inconvenience. I note I am not the only one to provide this feedback so it does need addressing.

Ice cream excellent, but there could have been more seating and accessibility could be improved. The blackberries and cream was very good indeed. Sadly we didn’t have the means to take any home to London.

Went to the ice cream parlour for the first time in a while, lots of people serving but massive attitude from the staff and seemed like they couldn’t be bothered, parking is limited and the small lane opposite the main road was crammed with cars not allowing cars to cross the lane, this isn’t parking for winstones if for access, and is damaging the common land, over priced for ice cream, Marshfield is better, friendlier staff, cheaper ice cream and plenty of parking.

Ice cream was nice, although the mint choc chip not as creamy as it used to be, felt a bit watery? The young lady working was not welcoming, grunted at the question asked and brought the whole thing down a bit. I know we all have bad days but when facing customers you make a bit of effort. Put me off going back to be honest.

We had noticed families sitting on the grass overlooking the scenic valley and wondered what was going on. Now we know. They were enjoying one of the delightful ice creams at Winstone's. Having heard of the place we have now indulged. Really lovely creamy ice cream (and at least one dairy-free). I had butterscotch and my partner had ginger and honey. Both gorgeous. We will be back!

We have been for this ice cream on several occasions, by way of a treat for us and the dogs. But we where very disappointed the ginger had no taste and the vanilla was just like frozen water/ We did have Winstone ice cream from Woodcester Park in a tub which was organic which was very good but this at Rodborough Common along with the very non-cheery staff was not good. Even the dogs would not eat the ice cream?

This was a return visit to Winstone's. We went just before school-out time so it was quiet when we arrived. Between us we had four flavours: two fruit and two non-fruit. The two fruit flavours (strawberries and cream and blackberries and cream) were very tasty. One of the two non-fruit flavours lacked flavour: the butterscotch chip was fine and the butterscotch could be tasted but the salted caramel tasted pretty much like vanilla and I was very disappointed. On our last visit, I had the honey and ginger and felt that this flavour, too, didn't have a strong enough taste.

Living at Amberley we walk on the common a lot and when we have company the treat is either a pint at The Bear or an ice cream at Winstones. When the group consists of children Winstones wins every time. There is usually a queue because it is so good and therefore popular but that gives you time to make your choice as there are so many different flavours many seasonal ie Christmas pudding flavour.

Been coming to Winstones for ice-cream on the Common all my life - a family and local tradition. Now loads of different flavours available - liquorice & blackcurrant is my personal favourite, a recent addition and not always available but delicious. Vans often parked at various places on the Common as well as the parlour at the factory. Parking troublesome at times - when they're busy, they're really busy! Lots of flavours available in various pack sizes for the freezer - we always have a big tub of the vanilla in ours.

We only discovered this place towards the end of our holiday which is probably a good thing as we were back again the very next day, a pattern that would have continued had we been staying longer. Service was really friendly (with extra staff on the Saturday when it was a bit busier meaning no long waits) but the real highlight was the ice cream - with a good range of flavours that were all really high quality. We try and sample the local ice cream wherever we go, but this is some of the best we have ever had. Definitely worth a visit or three!

I found Winstones a little hard to find, my fault I'm sure, but if I had known it was only a short distance from the Bear at Rodborough it would have been easier. Well worth the search though and the ride through Chalford and the valleys beyond was stunning. The common on the top was beautiful with some spectacular views and what better place to take my four scoops to eat. Four scoops? because there were 16 flavours, If they had a larger pot I would have tried more but they will have to wait for my next visit. My husband and I arrived at 11 on a weekday and we were the only ones there although a few other cars did arrive as we were leaving. We were served quickly and the young chap did not seem to mind our dithering over flavours. We would both recommend the blackberry and cream, chocolate and salted caramel. We sat on the common amongst the free roaming cows who were not the slightest bit interested in us but made for a nice photo. We will definitely call again.

Winstone's sells a range of flavours, I think about 12 in tubs or cones with sauce, flakes or nuts. You can really do a great mix and match to suit your taste and budget. BUT, the main thing here is that this is just the BEST ice cream anywhere in the UK. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. It is unfortunate I have to write this review after being one of Tomari G’s biggest fans previously. We arrived Friday evening to extremely bad service and without half the menu available. The waitress basically ignored us for 20 minutes. When she arrived they had no Rose wine. When we went to order they had no sushi ! One of the main reasons we visit!! We then asked for Salmon Poke Bowl, this was not available, We asked what was available the answer was just Ramen. I have also had a few friends visit who expressed there concern on the lack of menu available recently. I understand that this has happened since they have been taken over. We visited when it was the previous owners and it was amazing. My advice, try somewhere different. Nagomi in Cheltenham is amazing so we will be visiting that restaurant instead In future.
