Popped in today for lunch. Was served by the helpful and friendly Clair. The food was delicious, very filling good quality and quickly served. Also a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Would I return, Yes. Thank you Carol and Steve PS…. Love the lights! 😊

Initially popped in for a coffee and a quick breakfast which was pretty good food all freshly cooked and hot. Ended up booking a table for lunch as well and returned with wives due to the wide selection of food choices and cakes. Staff were very welcoming Clair an Olivia (hope I got the right) just two of the name but there were plenty of other on hand when needed. Highly recommended if your passing or just want somewhere new to explore.

The staff were amazing and catered for our needs and seated us in the back. The service was excellent, quick to take orders and bring our drinks. Food was promptly served. Everyone was pleased with their portions and quality of their food. We ordered 3 different cakes to end the meal and they were all amazing. Coffee and Walnut, vegan Jaffa cake and Victoria Sponge. The Victoria Sponge was such a hit that we took 3 slices home. We would have happily taken any of the 3 cakes as whole gone. Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant and looking forward to going there again in the future.

Very poor service. Others got served before us, no heating, cafe was cold. No overall organisation, the cafe was not busy staff just neglected us as there was no clear table ownership.

Always amazed how well we are treated when we go here for our breakfast ! The staff amazing and go out of their way to serve us as we are keto eaters so have to make the breakfast to suite us!!! They always offer us to pick other foods to replace the ones we cannot eat ! Friendly and smashing food

I visited Finchingfield yesterday. There were four of us who witnessed the following. We wanted to buy ice cream from the Winners ice cream shop. We told the woman serving that we had food allergies and she said she would check ingredients on the labels. Then she said all the boxes of ice cream in the displays freezer had the wrong tops on them, so she started to sort them so she could find the ones we wanted. She couldn't find the ingredients list for the one we wanted, so she then decided that tasting the ice-cream would be sufficient to check for the flavour of the allergen. That was bad enough, but then we were utterly gobsmacked when she produced a spoon and tasted the ice-cream to see what flavour it was, that she then put the same spoon that had gone into her mouth BACK INTO the tub to get another mouthful. I couldn't believe my eyes! Her total disregard for basic hygiene was appalling. Her lack of care with food allergies was also very worrying. She appeared to think that just by tasting a product she could tell what it contained. Needless to say we decided NOT to buy any of the ice cream, as frankly, disregarding the fact that we didn't know whether they contained the allergens we needed to know about, we couldn't stomach the thought of eating ice cream from tubs that had most likely had germs from her mouth in them. Utterly disgusted with the place and one wonders what the hygiene is like in the adjoining coffee shop. Will not be patronising this establishment ever again.

Lovely friendly staff, can't do enough for you. Went in for just a drink, will eat there next time. It was spotless, so clean & fresh looking. A real pleasure to go there ♡♡

Ignored us for 15 minutes, then when we went inside as we felt we had to ask for a menu we’re told they’d stopped serving food and were only doing cake and ice cream. Was 3pm on a Saturday, service was crap and didn’t want to give them any money after that.

I was amazed. Because we were sitting outside at their outside tables, I was asked to pay at the same time as placing my order. No problem as I guess they may lose money by people who choose not to pay. However, the young lady server offered me the payment terminal for me to select a percentage to add on for a tip. She asked ‘Would you like to leave a tip?’ I was amazed. I asked if she expected a tip for simply taking my order. Come on management, get your training into line as this is not only embarrassing for me, the customer, I’m sure the young lady was equally embarrassed.

Waited ages for someone to come and serve table was dirty had to ask for it to be wiped . Breakfast was cold I didn’t eat but my friend did, she didn’t complain as she was very hungry, the apple juice we had as a second drink was cheap carton juice would happily pay for a better bottle.

IF you are looking for somewhere to sit and wait 15 minutes for 1 Latte and be told after 10 minutes that it’ll be out when it’s ready and then be told after that 15 minutes that they don’t have your order even though I placed and paid for it, then this place is for you, never again.Rubbish. More interested in taking more money than actually serving the orders they already have, what a joke.

We waited an hour for our food. It still hadn’t arrived. We kept being told it was coming. We left. Rude staff that were not really bothered, Not the first time this has happened. But we wont be going in there again.

I live locally and go here every now and then when fancying a slice of cake or something a bit more. This is a wonderful little cafe with delicious food!

We went here yesterday for a late breakfast - we were a large group and so 2 big tables had been booked. All of us were happily shattered after our son's wedding the previous day at nearby Hedingham Castle. We received such a lovely warm welcome! The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful - they were fantastic! The food was great, all beautifully cooked and prompt. Well done Winner's Tearooms, you were spot on!

Sixteen of us called in for a post-wedding breakfast. We were all tired from the exertions of the previous day, and to be honest wondering if reserving a couple of tables had been a good idea. However, we were welcomed with an amazing generosity, beaming smiles and an illuminated sign board commemorating the event. We had excellent service, a variety of brilliantly cooked food and a luscious selection of drinks. two hours later, we were sill buzzing. Would we visit here again? most certainly. Tell your friends - it's certainly well worth calling in!

I’ve Been driving past winners for years saying I’m going to go there & today we finally did. Great choices of food, drinks & cakes. Something for everyone. Very friends staff & great atmosphere set in a lovely little village. Will deffo be going back soon

It really doesn't get much better than this folks. Stumbled upon this little Gem in idyllic Finchingfield, their ethos is Eat, drink and Be Happy and it certainly lived up to it. Walking in being greeted by a very pretty and jolly Shanie who was very busy and still managed to serve us with a broad smile . The place radiates a happy energy . A very quaint old fashioned feel with modern touches Loved that they had proper sea salt and black peppercorns . They had the old fashioned cubed brown and white sugar. I was given a small pot of marmalade to go with my delicious and ample vegetarian breakfast. We were very surprised to learn that the place was not owner managed because in my experience only owner managed places are run to this standard. As our only negative of the experience was the music . Weekday music should be far more mellow like Clannad or Kenny G. We fed that back to a very cordial and smiling Sam who assured us he will pass this feedback to the owners. We want to also feedback to the owners how lucked out you are at having such amazing staff , thank you to them for making the experience so special and wonderful for us . We certainly will recommend this lovely place to our friends and family. The tea and breakfast was amazing including avacados for vegans which is so healthy and delicious. The sausages were perfectly cooked and we both agreed it was the best vegetarian breakfast we have had and we've eaten in 4 star hotels. Kudos to all and long many you continue and see you again when we get the chance to visit again . This breakfast will see anyone through until evening supper , such a good size portion rare to find these days. Congratulations to the team for all being such Winners and we were so impressed we decided to post the review straight away and no one even asked us to post a review like most places do ! Anyone who comes Will be sure to eat , drink and Be happy.

The Winner’s breakfast is delicious and well worth a trip to Finchingfield. A very sizeable mug of tea too! Great service. All around excellent!

We've been here twice and each time they have forgotten our order. First time it was just two takeaway coffees which they kept us waiting 20 mins for before admitting they had forgotten them. Second time they brought our coffees to a filthy outside table (said they would clean it but didn't until we asked twice) and then forgot our food - two simple rolls. Reminded them after about 25 mins and they said they would sort it. !5 mins later we were still waiting. Went in to ask what had happened only to be told they would 'start making our order now'. We cancelled in disgust and asked for a refund. They had plenty of staff on but they all seemed cluseless. Not winners - losers.

We've been here a few times for lunch and enjoyed every visit. Food and drinks are lovely, and perfectly priced. Always a good atmosphere in there and a perfect view out in to the village! Service can be a bit slow in busy periods, but that comes with being a successful cafe! Everyone wants to try it out. Well done guys

What a super place to start your day! We had a lovely breakfast served by great staff and the chef was super . Everything laid out nicely on our plate well worth the value ! We recommend this place highly

Finchingfield is the most beautiful hamlet, a photographic oppertunity in any direction. Winners is the perfect place to stop. Inside and outside seating and car parking close by; its also dog friendly. Good range of food and swift service.

We stopped here during a cycle ride around Saffron Walden and the Cambirdge/Essex Lanes. They cleaned a table especially for us when we arrived, the drinks and snacks we had were excellent and the staff were very friendly.

A warm welcome on a chilly November morning. Chose eggs benedict off the breakfast menu whilst my riding compatriot chose the full English. Both cooked to perfection. The range of homemade cakes chosen by other customers were well received, judging by their comments. Good friendly, efficient service made our visit most enjoyable and I would commend the restaurant to any visiting Finchingfield.

9 of us had tapas last night and it was marvellous. Lovely selection of dishes and all very good. We had mussels, chorizo, meatballs, chicken wings, Camembert, prawns and potatoes. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Thoroughly recommend and can’t wait to go again!

Went to lunch at Winners with a friend. It was a first time visit and we didn’t know what to expect. Wow! The welcome we got was amazing, the place was clean and inviting and the staff were brilliant. The menu was varied and all looked delicious. We both chose bubble and squeak topped with poached eggs, crispy pancetta and hollandaise sauce. It was cooked fresh and to perfection. It was, honestly, absolutely faultless. We shared a slice of Victoria sponge afterwards, which was moist, light, fluffy and perfection on a plate. We got chatting to the staff and they told us they were doing tapas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The lady I enjoyed lunch with went with her husband on the Friday evening and said it was as good as the lunch we enjoyed. If you are in the area give this place a try. Absolutely brilliant....

Just had the full English Breakfast with a side of chips and a latte. Now struggling to move . The ingredients were very good quality with perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, meaty sausages and lovely bacon. This is as good a breakfast as you will get anywhere. Finally the service was warm, quick and attentive. Very happy, can't wait to return.

I was treated to high tea at Winners yesterday to celebrate my birthday and have to say that it was a really lovely experience. The staff were very welcoming, cheerful and attentive and even sang happy birthday to me as they brought my sandwich & cake selection out :-). Both the sandwiches and cakes were very fresh with a good variety and presented beautifully. My tea served in a tea pot with pretty china cups and saucers to drink from. The tea room has a very relaxed feel whilst being decorated to a high standard and looks out across the picturesque village of Finchingfield. I look forward to my next visit !

Stopped here for breakfast whilst travelling by motorbike cross country from London to Suffolk. Winner's is a huge improvement on the previous cafe: superb food, friendly service, sensibly priced. We will be back.

My wife and I visited on 6 sept, we have been before as we live in Finchingfield, on this occasion we was very disappointed. The service was absolutely appalling, three times I had to ask for service and at the end of the meal I asked for any sweet or deserts the young waitress rattled of the menu as though she was on speed, she did not return to take our order, at no time was we asked if our meal was ok nor was we asked if we wanted more drinks !

Great selection of delicious cakes. We missed the lunchtime food menu so be sure to get there before 3pm if you want savoury food. Tea and coffee good, Friendly quick service.

The best vegetarian breakfast I have eaten - it was definitely a WINNER !! The variety of foods were wonderfully presented on the plate. Lovely atmosphere & the waitresses were very friendly and efficient. 10/10

Late disorganised service. Ordered two coffees and one breakfast...scrambled eggs on toast...not complicated. Lots of later customers were served before us. Breakfast never arrived after 30 minutes. When we paid and explained that our breakfast did not come, we were told delays were inevitable with a shrug of the shoulders. Lovely village let down by arrogant waiter. Still charged us full amount.

Fantastic afternoon tea for large group of ladies celebrating a belated birthday . Amazing friendly service and well organised. Couldn’t decide which sandwich was the best as all so fresh and yummy and plenty of variety. Cakes and scones were equally as yummy as the sandwiches. Plenty of tea in pots and coffee and water when needed.

Fancied a nice breakfast whilst staying in the area. Looked online and boom found this little beauty. In a wonderful setting, placed looking out on to the village green in finchingfield.

Stayed in Finchingfield, down for a wedding, stayed at the Finchingfield Lion (highly recommended In our opinion), after breakfast walked down to the village green, past the duck pond and found Winners Tea Rooms. Wife got her proper coffee fix, I had a superb bacon sandwich, beautiful location, very picturesque. As a bonus (for me anyway) turned out to be a favourite place for the local bikers to meet for a bacon sarnie and a coffee. Had a great time watching the Harleys, Ducatis, et al come and go. Weather was perfect which helped, but a truly splendid place to while away an hour or so

Came in with my family as we fancied a cream tea today and knew Finchingfield well for it's cream teas. We have been here in the past but not sure if it has changed hands since. We were sat in for at least 10 minutes before being served, and it wasn't particularly busy. We are then disappointed to find out that a tea room doesn't have any scones. So in this instant, winners are in fact the losers of our custom.

Come into winners, had Lunch was lovely really good value for money, had sandwich and chunky chips, lovely decor, very clean! Emma the manager was really friendly. Will definitely recommend and will visit again.

Yet another fantastic breakfast at winners in finchingfield Essex great food excellent attentive staff and service highly recommended if you want old style courtesy set in a beautiful location then this is the place wether it a piece of cake and a cuppa or a breakfast or a roast the service is consistent throughout a credit to the owners and staff

My friend & I decided to give this beautiful venue a try & was not at all disappointed. The place itself oozes elegance, cleanliness, offering a warm welcoming atmosphere. The young waitress was extremely pleasant & relaxed, waitressing with a nothings to much problem attitude. I could not fault the food, it was hot, very well presented on the plate and flavoursome. My friend and I could definitely taste the quality of the produce used at this eatery. The price of the breakfast was £8 which was worth every penny in lovely surroundings.

Service was moderate when food was ordered. We were behind a large coach party of pensioners so service was a little slow.

We'd visited this restaurant a lot under its two previous owners & this was our first visit to it under its present incarnation. Sad to be the first to give any sort of negative review but i hope the owners take it as well meant and a way to improve for the future. From arrival at 12pm, the time we booked for a carvery meal, we were unimpressed to find that the carvery would not be ready till nearer 12.30 as we were told by the man who first served us. Then the young woman who served us told us it would be ready sooner and served us the wine we ordered. Nearer 12.30 we were told carvery was ready, but on going out they for some reason thought the nut roast wasn't needed till 1pm, so there was another shorter wait for the nut roast. New staff were blamed for this confusion but good organisation starts at the top and if the new staff didn't know that carvery normally started at 1pm, it's the employers fault for not making it clear enough. When we finally had lunch, it was ok. My husband said the pork was very good but the parsnips were hard & under cooked. I like my veg with bite but not parsnips! So i left those. It was nice to have a nut roast option. The couple next to us had problems too, in that their breakfast didn't arrive till long after the rest of their food. Then at 1pm ish they were asked to leave as the table was reserved. Allegedly they had ignored the reservation notice on the table but one wonders why they were served in the first place if it was reserved?? There were lots of staff standing round but they did not feel like a cohesive unit, nobody gave us correct information to start with. Poor communication seens to be their main problem. Also there is no drink menu on the table, it was only written behind the bar, so those that don't have "20/20" vision had to walk over to the bar to read it. All in, an odd dining experience. We left without dessert or coffee, as we didn't want to face anymore problems. At the end of this it cost £14.95 a head for the carvery. Would we travel to Finchingfield again for a carvery? No sorry, there is a better one in Halstead at Dickens.

Visited today and had a scone and cuppa, it was lovely. Friendly and efficient staff and lovely décor.

Went here for a spot of lunch on a weekday afternoon. We had a very friendly welcome and the cafe was warm, clean and inviting. I ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich, which the waitress happily added Halloumi to for me, and it was the most delicious sandwich I've had in ages (and I eat a lot of sandwiches!) All the food was lovely, and there was a good choice of hot food and cold snacks. We followed it all up with cakes and scones which were generously served. A lovely experience I would come again :) I think they are quite newly opened with new management and they are making every effort to make the place great.

Lovely place to eat or just have a cuppa. i found the staff very friendly and professional. Although i only had a coffee, there did seem to be a good priced menu. You can sit inside or out weather permitting.

the winners restaurant(formal Bosworths)we spotted this place after watching the cycling live last year It look a good in real life. we selected the breakfast with a two pots of Tea. there homemade cakes looks delicious worth a visit.
